A MESSAGE FROM AARON COX

It is hard to believe it’s been a full year serving as President & CEO of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce. As I reflect, I am filled with gratitude and excitement. This past year has been an incredible journey of listening, learning, and working alongside our dedicated members, volunteers, and community partners. Together, we have built on the Chamber’s strong foundation and continued to advance our mission of serving as the pathway to opportunity for businesses in our region.

As we begin a new fiscal year, I am thrilled to welcome our new Chairman of the Board, Justin Kendrick of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, and the outstanding leaders who make up our Board of Directors. Their vision, energy, and commitment will guide us as we launch new initiatives, refresh existing programs, and strengthen our role as the voice of business in The Woodlands. We also thank 2024-25 Chairman Ann Wolford and our retiring board members for their exceptional leadership.

From signature events to advocacy efforts, from professional education to community engagement, the year ahead is full of opportunities for you to connect, grow, and thrive. Our Chamber is more than an organization—it is a dynamic network of leaders dedicated to excellence and to building a business community that is second to none.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Our team looks forward to working with you in the year ahead as we continue to build momentum, embrace innovation, and celebrate the success of our members. Together, we will make this another remarkable year for The Woodlands Area and The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce.

The 2025 Chairman’s Ball was truly unforgettable as we celebrated An Evening in the French Quarter to honor outgoing Chairman Ann Wolford (The Wolford Group) for her outstanding leadership and service. We also proudly welcomed our new Chairman of the Board, Justin Kendrick (Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center). From the lively second line parade and dazzling aerialist performance to the live artists, gaming tables and dancing, the evening was filled with the spirit and joy of New Orleans.

What a night in the French Quarter!

A heartfelt thank you to all whose vision and hard work brought this magical evening to life: Dusty Paez (Fusion Academy) • Stacie Coleman (Project Beacon) • Debbie Kaschik (The Young Learners) • Chairman’s Ball Committee • Volunteers

• And most importantly, the architect of the evening – our Director of Signature Events, Gabby Peña.

We are deeply grateful to all our sponsors, with special thanks to our Presenting Sponsor, SaleQuick, for making this spectacular night possible.

Breakfast Connections | Provides Relief from The Heat

The July Breakfast Connections had members share with us what relief from the heat does your business provide? It was a fun little spin-off on the heat that we all face not only with the weather but in business. Each business came forward to deliver a commercial that would help you escape the heat not only in business but in your personal life as well. We learned about everything from having your home or vehicle air conditioning serviced to help conquer the weather to escaping to a destination of your choice with cooler climates or beachfront paradises to saving yourself by living a purposeful life designed by Jesus Christ.

Better Bookkeepers, Inc., was our Spotlight Sponsor for July’s Breakfast Connections. Most business owners view bookkeeping as a necessary evil. Something to outsource quickly and forget about. But Better Bookkeepers is challenging that entire mindset with a simple question: What if your books became your business’s best strategic tool? The difference lies in their approach to what numbers actually represent. While traditional firms focus on compliance and data entry, Better Bookkeepers emphasizes perspective and insight. Their team of over 20 QuickBooks-certified professionals doesn’t just record transactions. They help you understand what those transactions reveal about your business’s health, opportunities, and potential challenges. This perspective-driven approach transforms bookkeeping from reactive record-keeping into

proactive business intelligence. When you can see patterns in your cash flow, understand seasonal trends, and identify growth opportunities through clean, timely financial reports, you’re not just staying compliant, you’re gaining competitive advantage. Their comprehensive services span everything from monthly bookkeeping to payroll and special projects, but the real value proposition is deeper. They offer peace of mind. The kind that comes from knowing your financial foundation is solid, your reports are accurate, and your business decisions are data-driven rather than intuition-based. In today’s competitive market, successful businesses need more than good products or services. They need clear financial visibility. Better Bookkeepers provides that clarity, turning what was once a source of stress into a source of strength and strategic direction.

Better

Bookkeepers Celebrate Their 15th Anniversary at July’s | Business After Hours

The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce came together with members and guests from the Conroe / Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce and Greater East Montgomery County Chamber to celebrate Better Bookkeeper’s 15 Year Milestone with a joint ribbon cutting followed a Business After Hours Celebration.

The evening brought together many leaders from throughout Montgomery

County. It was wonderful to see a business like Better Bookkeepers that has formed relationships and trust with businesses that span the entire county celebrate their continued growth and success.

Your numbers need a human connection. In an age of automated everything, Better Bookkeepers is going against the grain with old-school traditions: personalized service.

While most firms hide behind generic packages and remote relationships, their locally owned boutique-style firm brings something refreshing to the table: they have the capacity to come to you.

Their four core values are Respect, Intentional, Perspective, and Enrichment and those are not just corporate buzzwords. They represent a fundamental shift in how bookkeeping should work. Instead of treating your business like another number in their system, they recognize that no two businesses are identical and custom-tailor the approach accordingly.

What’s particularly intriguing is their on-site service model. In a world where everything is becoming increasingly digital and distant, having financial professionals who understand your business intimately enough to work alongside you weekly or bi-weekly is game-changing. This isn’t just about data entry. It’s about real-time financial partnership. The promise is bold but achievable: transforming bookkeeping from a dreaded necessity into a strategic advantage. When you can make decisions based on current, accurate information rather than outdated reports or guesswork, everything changes. Your financial clarity improves, your confidence grows, and your business has the foundation it needs for sustainable growth.

Better Bookkeepers isn’t just managing numbers. They are helping local business owners master their financial future, one custom solution at a time.

Shaping the Next Generation: How Professionals Can Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce

For many students, the leap from classroom to career can feel daunting. This fall, Education for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) is helping to bridge that gap with hands-on career development programs that connect local high school students with the expertise of Montgomery County’s business community.

Last year alone, 293 professionals volunteered their time to reach nearly 1,800 students through EfTA’s career programs. The result: young people gained practical skills and real-world perspectives, while business leaders helped strengthen the area’s future talent pipeline.

EfTA Program Director Ashley Ouellette shared, “Students are eager for real-world advice, and volunteers are often surprised at how rewarding the experience is. Even an hour of time can have a lasting impact to help students see what is possible. ”

Here are three high-impact ways professionals can get involved this fall:

1. Share your story. EfTA is seeking career panelists for 90-minute sessions at Conroe, Caney Creek, and Oak Ridge High Schools. Volunteers talk candidly about their career journeys, offer professional development advice, and help students see the possibilities ahead. Details are available through the Career Connections program link at efta-us.org.

2. Put students to the test. Mock interviews allow students to rehearse for the real world, responding to common interview questions and receiving immediate, actionable feedback. Sessions are scheduled for November 13 at Caney Creek High School or December 2 at Oak Ridge High School during lunch hours.

3. Lend your voice. EfTA’s What I Wish I Knew podcast offers students insights from professionals across industries. Guests share the lessons they’ve learned—what they wish someone had told them earlier—and inspire students to think bigger about their own futures.

By participating in even one of these opportunities, professionals can influence the trajectory of young lives while making a measurable investment in tomorrow’s workforce. EfTA makes it easy, flexible, and impactful.

EDUCATION FOR TOMORROW ALLIANCE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating education and community partnerships that advance student success. For more information, please visit efta-us.org.

The team was led by David Dewhurst, Prosperity Living and includes Ashley Reina, Blue Skies Bookkeeping; Lacy Martinez, Gulf Coast Pros LLC; Kathleen Buckland, Kiwanis Club of The Woodlands and South Montgomery County; and not pictured Nicole Petitt, DRYmedic of Spring Texas.

Team Waikiki worked with new and existing members throughout the month helping them understanding all available resources that their Chamber membership offers them. If you are a new member or an existing member looking to re-engage, please contact Cyndi Alvarado, VP of Membership and she along with their diplomat team can steer you in the direction of involvement.

The next time you are at a Chamber Event or Meeting, please take a moment to visit with a member of the Diplomat Team and thank them for their service. They are here to help connect you, so you may start building relationships!

July Diplomat of the Month Bill Warner, Retired

Please congratulate Bill Warner on earning the honor of being named the Diplomat of the Month for July.

Bill is dedicated to The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce and our members. He is the first to say, how can I help. He can often be seen at a Business Connection Event greeting members as they arrive or helping get everyone in place at member ribbon cutting. What you can’t see is the work behind the scenes that he does reaching out to members and providing solid advise on resources available to our members to help them increase their visibility.

If you see Bill at any upcoming Chamber Business Connection Events or team meetings, please be sure to congratulate him. We are very fortunate to have you on our team!

Congratulations,Bill!

The Business Advocacy Council welcomed Congressman Dan Crenshaw at its August meeting, held at Black Walnut Café. The Congressman provided a legislative update to a full house of attendees, taking the time to discuss issues and answer questions on redistricting, border security, the “Big Beautiful Bill,” and recent Medicaid changes.

The Chamber is grateful to the BAC leadership team for coordinating events like this that give our members the opportunity to hear directly from community leaders and elected officials on issues impacting our businesses and community.

The next BAC meeting will be Tuesday, September 16.

Innovation Council Recap: Spotlight on Oleg Lysiak

The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce Innovation Council continues to grow, and this month’s meeting brought together one of our largest turnouts yet.

We welcomed Oleg Lysiak — an entrepreneur, investor, and mentor who played a key role in igniting Houston’s innovation community.

Oleg’s background is as diverse as it is impactful, spanning software development, angel investing, and community building. He is the Founder of RocketNetwork, VP at Honeycomb Software, City Leader of Founders Live, and a growth advisor for startups. His passion is helping founders turn ideas into thriving ventures while creating a more connected innovation ecosystem. What stood out most was not just his impressive résumé, but his genuine belief that innovation thrives when people are given the tools, encouragement, and community to succeed. Oleg reminded us that The Woodlands, Greater Houston, and beyond have the talent and drive to make bold ideas a reality — and that building those bridges starts with each of us.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this exciting conversation. The Innovation Council is growing, and the energy in the room proves that innovation in The Woodlands is alive and accelerating. We invite you to join us for our next meeting in September.

C.A.R.E.S. Committee Hosts Donation Drive for Yes to Youth

In July the C.A.R.E.S. Committee teamed up with Yes to Youth for a Back-to-School Drive. C.A.R.E.S. Members donated gift cards to help the kids living at Bridgeway Shelter buy some new clothes for the school year in addition to providing school supplies and backpacks.

YES to YOUTH - Montgomery County Youth Services strengthens the emotional and mental health development of youth and families by providing crisis intervention, counseling, and suicide prevention services. They provide a safe and nurturing home where abused, battered, sex-trafficked, homeless, and at-risk youth begin healing from the past and become empowered for the future.

If you are interested in working with local nonprofits through community service, we invite you to join us for our next C.A.R.E.S. Committee meeting. We meet the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. at The Chamber. The only requirement to attend, is you must be a Chamber member.
