NOVEMBER 2025

November 2025
I’m one of those irritating people who likes to mention how many Fridays it is until Christmas, starting in July (I’ve actually been known to start mentioning it in January). Making Redmond a fun and memorable place for the holidays takes some planning and imagination, and of course lots of help. It’s November, so ready or not, the holidays are upon us and with no time to waste, it’s time to start rolling out the traditions that help make the season and our community special.
Preparation did start in July with the help of Redmond Public Works and a phone call from a local resident who has a tree for us. This was one of the earlier procurements of a tree we have ever had, and it got us off to a great start. We even identified the theme of the parade in July as “National Lampoons Christmas Vacation” and we had our first call for the theme within days. We are not the only ones who start working early, even local Redmond retail shops and home

supply stores had Christmas decorations out shortly after Labor Day and our beloved Eberhard’s Dairy had their Egg Nog in stores, the second week in September. Now that it’s November, we will be in full holiday preparation mode, with light pole wrapping to commence shortly, and any agile ladder climbers are welcome to join in the fun.
So why do we do this? Does it fit the mission of the Chamber “to improve the economic vitality and quality of life in Central Oregon through the collaborative use of business and community resources?” We feel it absolutely does. All these holiday festivities bring the community together, they foster a vibrant business and community environment, and where youth have memories indelibly etched into their little heads. How great it is if we can create a community where our youth want to stay and raise their kids, and where businesses are drawn to a strong sense of place and community.

We encourage everyone to get involved and to shop local, to participate in the community and to make memories that are rooted in Redmond.
Something else I would like to share is an interesting statistic I learned recently at the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Conference, and something I feel is worth sharing, it is that 50% of the US population in the last year expressed, feeling a deep sense of loneliness. I was a little taken back by this statistic and wondered about the role the Chamber can play in fighting this in our community? Does our work, bringing people and businesses together and creating a sense of “place” help? There can be all kinds of possible reasons for this number being so high, but what can we do to help alleviate this kind of statistic in our community? The Chamber is a family of businesses, and we are here to help on all levels. By building a sense of community and pooling our resources

we accomplish great things and loneliness is something we can certainly make a difference in. The holidays can be a difficult time for many, let’s make sure to reach out to those around us, and invite family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, business associates and even a new acquaintance to participate in some of the many Chamber and community events happening this holiday season. Friendsgiving is relatively new term and celebration and perhaps an opportunity to bridge the loneliness so many have expressed experiencing. The opportunities are endless, and the Chamber is here to make our community the best it can be.
From all us of here at the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB, have a wonderful start to the holidays and Happy Thanksgiving!

In today’s digital marketplace, your LinkedIn profile is often the first impression you make on clients, partners, and potential employers. More than just a resume, it serves as a platform for your personal brand and professional credibility. For Redmond-area business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals, a well-crafted LinkedIn presence can help you connect with the right opportunities, grow your network, and stand out in your industry.
Whether you are building your business or advancing your career, here is a practical approach to optimizing your profile for visibility, engagement, and results.
Start with the Essentials
Your profile photo, headline, and custom LinkedIn URL form the foundation of your digital presence. These elements should be clear, polished, and aligned with your professional goals.
Photo: Use a high-quality headshot that reflects how you would appear in a business meeting. A neutral background and approachable expression go a long way.
Headline: Move beyond your job title. Use this space to explain what you do and who you serve. For example: “Operations Manager | Supporting Central Oregon’s Small Business Growth.”
Custom URL: Update your LinkedIn URL to include your full name or business name. This not only looks more professional but also makes your profile easier to share.
Incorporate Relevant Keywords
LinkedIn functions as a search engine. Including keywords throughout your profile helps others find you when searching for specific skills or services.
Start with your industry and role. A marketing consultant in Redmond, for instance, might include keywords like “small business strategy,” “email marketing,” and “content development.” Place these keywords thoughtfully in your headline, About section, experience descriptions, and skills list. This improves your ranking in LinkedIn’s search results and ensures your profile reaches the right audience.
Build a Strong About Section
The About section (your bio) is one of the most impactful parts of your profile. It should be concise, engaging, and written in a confident, natural voice. Aim for 200 to 300 words, organized in short paragraphs. Use the following structure as a guide:
Introduction: Open with a summary of your expertise and professional purpose. Background and capabilities: Describe your experience and core strengths. Key accomplishments: Share measurable outcomes or noteworthy projects. Call to connect: Invite viewers to reach out for collaboration, questions, or partnerships.
Avoid generic statements. Instead of “Experienced in event planning,” write “Led a team of five in coordinating Redmond-based community events, increasing attendance by 30 percent over two years.” Specificity adds credibility and context.
LinkedIn is not a static platform. Profiles that remain active gain more visibility and reach. Posting content, interacting with others, and updating your profile regularly can significantly improve engagement.
Here are a few practical ways to stay visible:
• Share industry insights, local news, or reflections on recent projects.
• Celebrate milestones such as business anniversaries or new hires.
• Comment on other posts to participate in relevant conversations.
• Consistent activity signals to LinkedIn’s algorithm—and to your network— that you are engaged and professional.
• Expand Your Network with Purpose
LinkedIn connections are most valuable when they are intentional. Personalize your connection requests by explaining how you know the person or why you want to connect. Referencing shared events, mutual interests, or Chamber activities can strengthen these invitations.
For example, “I saw your business featured in the Redmond Chamber newsletter and would love to connect,” is far more effective than a generic request.
LinkedIn offers built-in analytics that can inform your strategy. Metrics such as profile views, search appearances, and keyword insights provide a snapshot of how your profile is performing. If your engagement drops, consider refreshing your headline or sharing new content.
If you are attracting attention from outside your intended audience, adjust your keywords to better reflect your industry or geographic focus.
Written recommendations from colleagues, clients, or collaborators add another layer of credibility to your profile. They serve as social proof of your abilities and work ethic. A brief, polite request for a recommendation—especially from a fellow Redmond Chamber member—can help reinforce your local reputation.

The Crooked River Ranch community has many activities to offer residents and visitors with one of those activities being ‘Disc Golf’. There are so many positive benefits to playing this sport. The mission statement of Central Oregon Disc Golf [CODG] is … to promote, create and support spaces for people to participate in Disc Golf. Central Oregon has 14 registered courses listed on UDISC within a 50-mile radius, that include Black Butte, Prineville, Madras and LaPine, Redmond and Crooked River Ranch.
Disc golf is played much like golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, though, players use a flying disc or Frisbee®. The sport was formalized in 1976 DGA [Disc Golf Association] by Ed Headrick and his son Ken Headrick and shares with golf the object of completing each hole in the fewest strokes (or, in the case of disc golf, fewest throws).
Disc golf is designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages, genders, and economic status, making it a great lifetime fitness activity. Because disc golf is so easy to learn, no one is excluded; players merely match their pace to their capabilities and proceed from there. As for equipment, just a disc is all you will need. Comfortable shoes for walking are suggested but no gloves or other equipment cost is involved.
One of the great features disc golf shares with golf is that they are both played in beautiful settings. A nine-hole disc golf course can be established on as little as five acres of land, and a championshipcaliber 18-hole course uses 30 to 40 acres. Disc golf courses can coexist with existing park facilities and activity areas, such as here on the ranch, the disc course is combined with the Steel Stampede motorcycle tracks, dog walkers and trails for horse riders. Multipurpose use for the whole community at minimal expense for upkeep. In fact, most of the labor and materials are volunteer and donation based.
- by Brenda Cooper
attribute of the sport is the low barrier to entry. A professional quality disc costs roughly $15, and it only takes one for basic play. Disc Golf is a year-round sport that can be played any time of the year.
The Crooked River Ranch course was designed and built in 2013 by residents Sean Remer and Jim Tobish using Steel Stampede funds raised during the annual Steel Stampede Motorcycle event as well as donated labor. This course is a modular course which means it expands in the summer and retracts in the winter, it is 3 miles long and has a course rating through UDISC 4.1 out of 5. According to Tobish, the main expense for CRR course is maintaining for fire abatement and regular mowing for the ease of playability. This is all done through volunteers and donated equipment. Funny fact, each of the disc baskets on the ranch course are named after things associated with CRR such as the Telegraph, Trading Post, Smith Rock Resort, Sandbagger.

In speaking with Jim Tobish, his unlimited knowledge and experience flows out through his passion for the sport of disc golf. Some of the future goals for the course are better playing surface, larger CRR tournaments, a playground for kids with a gazebo, 6 more Tee-Pads (where players begin a hole) at approx. $200 each and updated disc baskets.
Disc golf provides upper and lower body conditioning, aerobic exercise, and mental stimulation. Concentration skills increase by mastering shots and negotiating obstacles, and players of limited fitness levels can start slowly and gradually increase their level of play.
Scheduling is also flexible: A casual round takes one to two hours and may be played alone, eliminating the difficulty of scheduling tee times. Perhaps the greatest
Coyotes Den Disc Golf or Disc Golf Central Oregon on Facebook is a great way to read up on this group and to learn more of them and just maybe get you out to the Crooked River Ranch course to give your disc [frisbee] a throw, you may get hooked on a new to you sport. And if you desire is to lean about the national level of competition, the Professional Disc Golf Association website is an excellent resource.
As Jim says, “It’s an excuse to get outside and enjoy the scenic beauty that the Crooked River Ranch community has to offer”. We will see you and your disc soon on the Coyotes Den Disc Golf Course Tee Pad enjoying the exercise and beauty of the scenery around you.

Submitted by REDI Staff
Last week, the community gathered for REDI’s News & Brews event to network, grab a cold drink, and get the inside track on the most critical challenge facing our region: building tomorrow’s skilled workforce. The energy was vibrant as educators, business leaders, and community members discussed the powerful intersection of education and economic development in Redmond. The evening focused on how our local institutions and partners are successfully creating flexible, accessible pathways from the classroom directly into high-paying, local jobs, fueling Redmond’s impressive economic momentum.
The State of Redmond's Economic Engine Steve Curley, REDI Director, kicked off the program with an update which underscored Redmond’s resilience and growth. Despite statewide budget concerns, Central Oregon and Redmond are seeing significant business expansion and investment.
Key highlights shared by Steve included: Major Investment: Over $91 million in ongoing investments are creating hundreds of new jobs in the area.
Business Success: Six companies completed projects in 2025, creating 121 jobs.
Notable Expansions: Projects include Medline Renewal hiring 73 new workers, and expansions by major players like Amazon, Nosler, and Baselite.
A shining example of this growth is Medline ReNewal, a key player in Redmond’s manufacturing sector. As a global leader in medical device reprocessing, Medline ReNewal takes single-use medical devices
that would otherwise go to a landfill, rigorously reconditions them, and returns them to hospitals at a significant cost saving. This not only makes healthcare more affordable and sustainable, but its recent expansion—an over 50,000 square foot facility—demonstrates the company’s confidence in Redmond’s workforce, bringing 73 new, skilled jobs to the region.
According to Craig Windish, Sr. Manager of Technology Development, Medline ReNewal is currently seeking talented workforce to fill remaining open positions. The message was clear: Redmond is a hub for innovation and job growth, driven by a commitment to invest in its businesses and people.
Panel Spotlight: Building Tomorrow's Workforce
The centerpiece of the evening was a deepdive panel discussion on the successful partnership between our local educational institutions and industry. Presenters Sherm Bloomer (OSU-Cascades), Brian Keechle (COCC), and Dan Kernion (Redmond HS), highlighted how schools are actively tailoring programs to meet the current and future needs of manufacturing and technology businesses.
Key takeaways from the educational leaders included:
Redmond High's Success:
The Redmond High CTE and welding programs are directly placing students into high-paying local jobs. An exciting trend noted was the rising female participation in the welding program.
COCC's Versatility: Central Oregon Community College (COCC) supports students across the spectrum, from entry-level up to degree transfer or direct employment, with a key focus on hands-on and project-based learning.
OSU Cascades' Local Focus: OSU Cascades offers programs specifically tailored to local industry needs, incorporating strong workintegrated learning elements.
The common theme across all institutions was the essential need for employability skills, a strong work ethic, and technical training—all supported through robust partnerships with local businesses.
Sponsor Spotlight: Supporting Redmond's Talent
An event of this caliber would not be possible without the generous support of our partners, including Title Sponsor, Summit Bank. In his brief presentation, Roger Lee, discussed the role of community banks like Summit Bank in supporting local economic growth. Community banks are vital, providing billions in business loans and holding most commercial real estate for Oregon’s smaller communities. He considers partnering with organizations like REDI as crucial “black-ops’ teams working behind the scenes to help promote a thriving economic ecosystem.

We also heard from Chris Petty of Express Employment Professionals, who provided insight into the staffing and recruitment landscape. Chris introduced Express Employment as Central Oregon’s onestop staffing firm, serving every sector from entry-level production to specialized recruiting. As the largest franchise-owned staffing firm globally, they offer essential support and recruitment resources to businesses of all sizes.
The latest News & Brews event reinforced Redmond’s economy and educational landscape are thriving. By fostering robust partnerships between our schools, businesses, and service providers, the community is successfully preparing students for meaningful careers, supporting local job growth, and driving innovation. If you were unable to attend, visit our YouTube Channel @RedmondEcDevInc for the Panel Discussion portion of the event. We encourage you to reach out to REDI for more information, collaboration opportunities, or to see how you can be a part of Redmond's success story. Call the office at 541.923.5223 or go online to rediinfo.com.

In-office fluoride treatments are a powerful and simple preventative measure that significantly strengthens tooth enamel and prevents cavities in patients of all ages. While many people receive fluoride from toothpaste and community water, professional applications deliver a higher concentration for enhanced protection. A quick, painless part of a regular dental check-up, fluoride treatment can help maintain a healthy smile and reduce the need for more complex dental work down the line.
During an appointment, your dentist or hygienist applies a concentrated fluoride varnish, to the teeth. This treatment works in three key ways:
• Remineralization: Fluoride helps rebuild tooth enamel by attracting minerals like calcium and phosphate to repair weakened areas. This process can even reverse the earliest stages of tooth decay before a cavity fully forms.
• Acid resistance: The treatment creates a more robust outer surface on your teeth, making them more resistant to acid attacks from bacteria and sugars in the mouth.
• Antibacterial action: Fluoride disrupts the ability of harmful oral bacteria to produce the acids that erode enamel.
For children and adolescents, fluoride is critical for the proper development of strong permanent teeth. Adults also benefit, particularly those with risk factors like receding gums, dry mouth, or a history of frequent cavities. By strengthening and protecting your teeth, professional fluoride treatment offers a cost-effective way to preserve natural tooth structure and prevent future dental problems.
At Select Care Dental we offer an effective Fluoride uptake with a lower dosage that has a neutral pH and is free of rosin and common allergens. With this fluoride you only have to keep on for 15 minutes.

When it comes to promoting your business in Redmond, you want strategies that deliver results without draining your marketing budget. That’s why the Redmond Chamber of Commerce’s email advertising program stands out as a smart, cost-effective way to reach the people who matter most—local business owners, professionals, and community decisionmakers.
The Chamber’s Weekly Update email is sent every Monday morning to over 1,400 engaged subscribers, each of whom has a vested interest in Redmond’s business community. This isn’t a generic list—these are business leaders who open, read, and act on what they see. With an average open rate of 46.5% and a click-through rate of 7.2%, the Weekly Update far exceeds industry standards, where typical open rates hover between 20–25% and click rates average just 2–3%. Those numbers alone show that your advertising message
is much more likely to be seen and acted upon when placed in the Chamber’s email.
Unlike social media feeds where your ad competes with countless posts and distractions, or print ads that are easy to overlook, email offers a direct line into your audience’s inboxes. Readers choose to subscribe to the Chamber’s updates, which means they are already interested in what’s happening in Redmond and are more likely to pay attention to your message. It’s targeted, permission-based marketing at its best.
Another key advantage is the exclusivity of advertising placements. Each Weekly Update offers just three ad options— one Sponsored Content placement, one Premium Top Banner Ad, and one Lower Banner Ad. With only one advertiser featured per placement per week, your business won’t get lost in a sea of competing ads. Instead, you’ll stand out, making your message more impactful.
Sponsored Content is particularly effective for businesses looking to tell a story, share an offer, or highlight an event. With a 600x400 image, 100 words of custom messaging, and a clickable link, it’s an opportunity to engage readers with both visuals and content. Premium Top Banner Ads ensure your business is the first thing readers see when they open the email, maximizing brand recognition. Meanwhile, Lower Banner Ads offer an affordable way to get your message in front of a local audience, perfect for businesses looking for budget-friendly exposure.
Beyond these placements, the value of Chamber email advertising lies in its community credibility. By advertising through the Chamber, you signal that your business is invested in Redmond and committed to supporting the local economy. That builds trust, strengthens your reputation, and encourages readers to choose your services over out-of-town competitors.
Finally, the Chamber’s email ads are affordable, starting as low as $25 per week for a Lower Banner Ad, making this opportunity accessible to small businesses and startups as well as established companies. With a required threeweek commitment, advertisers benefit from consistent exposure, helping build familiarity and drive conversions.
In a time when every marketing dollar counts, the Redmond Chamber’s email advertising program offers a proven, targeted, and cost-effective way to connect directly with the local business community and get measurable results.
