Leadership Redmond

I am very pleased to announce the first class of Leadership Redmond, Class of 2026, was held on September 18th. We have a class of 19 participants, and we are off to a great start. Our Day Sponsor for Day 1, was the Redmond Executive Association and we covered the topic of Community History and Culture. What could be a more fitting location to have our first day, other than one of Redmond’s most historic and prominent structures, the beautifully restored and re-envisioned SCP Hotel on 6th Street. SCP was a great host and provided a tour of the property including the roof top bar. To make the Leadership program possible, each of our 9 days are sponsored by a generous day sponsor. Thank you to Mazatlán Mexican Restaurant, Redmond Executive Association, Central Electric Co-op, First Interstate Bank, Alliance Professionals, Central Oregon Community College, Pacific Power, Deschutes County, St. Charles Redmond, SunWest Builders, the Deschutes County Fair and Expo and Redmond Economic Development Inc, for supporting this outstanding program. Chamber Events for October

October is a busy month for Chamber events before heading into the holiday season. One of our last big fundraisers, to help cover the many free events we host for the community, is our Halloween Golf Tournament scheduled for Friday, October 24 at Juniper Golf Course. This hilarious, costume encouraged golf tournament starts at 10am (depending on frost) and concludes with a barbeque lunch and awards ceremony. The best dressed team will be awarded a prize for their efforts, as well as the top three teams in both High Net and Low Gross. The cost is $125 per player, or $500 per team. This tournament is probably not for the serious golfer, unless laughter and good times are greatly appreciated. Help support the many Free community events the Chamber sponsors each year and sign up to play golf with us. Sign up online at www.visitredmondoregon.

Build Loyalty by Being Real: Why Authenticity Wins in Business

Authenticity is more than a trend. It is a powerful tool that helps businesses build trust and long-term relationships. In today’s marketplace, customers are surrounded by polished messaging and endless choices. What they really want is something genuine. Something human.

At the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, we see firsthand how local businesses succeed when they lead with purpose, honesty, and heart. Customers do not just buy products or services. They buy into stories, values, and people.

What Customers Remember Most Is How You Made Them Feel

Every touchpoint matters. Whether someone visits your store, books your service, or simply calls for more information, their emotional takeaway is what sticks. People remember feeling welcome. They remember the small details that made them feel like more than just a transaction.

In competitive industries, the experience often outweighs the features. Thoughtful service, genuine interactions, and warm follow-up leave a lasting impression that encourages repeat business and referrals.

Authentic Connections Lead to Stronger Relationships

When you show up honestly and consistently, customers are more likely to do the same. That opens the door to stronger conversations and a deeper understanding of what they actually need.

Authenticity builds trust. Trust leads to quicker results, smoother collaboration, and greater customer satisfaction. When your voice, actions, and values all align, people feel it. And they stay with you longer because of it.

You Do Not Need Every Trend to Succeed

There is constant pressure to jump on the latest social media trend or content format. But just because something is popular does not mean it is right for your business. If it feels forced or off-brand, your audience will notice.

Customers value consistency. Your brand voice should feel familiar, steady, and confident. That creates credibility. Staying aligned with your mission is far more effective than trying to fit into someone else's mold.

Hospitality Should Feel Personal, Not Performative

Great service is about more than delivering what was promised. It is about creating moments that feel thoughtful and personal. Maybe that means remembering someone’s name, offering a warm smile, or going a step beyond expectations.

These small gestures can turn an average visit into something memorable. They show customers that you care, not just about their money, but about their experience. And that makes all the difference.

Customers Want to Support People, Not Just Products

Behind every business is a human story. Let that story shine. Be open about who you are, what drives you, and why you do what you do. People are more likely to support businesses that reflect their own values or that they feel a personal connection with.

It is not always about being polished or perfect. It is about being relatable, clear, and real. The more your customers feel that they know you, the more likely they are to return and recommend you to others.

A Message to Our Redmond Business Community

Authenticity is not a strategy. It is a choice. It shows up in your voice, your service, and your community presence. It helps you stand out, even in a crowded market.

As you build your brand and grow your customer base, let your true values guide your interactions. Be proud of what makes your business unique. Customers are looking for connection, and your authenticity is what brings them in and keeps them coming back.

NEWS FROM CROOKED RIVER RANCH ANNUAL COMMUNITY YARD SALE

the ranch

“Treasures” galore! Crooked River Ranch hosts a Community Yard Sale every year the first weekend after Labor Day in September. It begins on that Friday and runs through Sunday afternoon with suggested hours of 8:00am-4:00pm. It is so well loved that phone calls start coming in about October asking when the next community yard sale is. Administration gets a kick out of those calls, boy… that’s some preplanning being done.

This great event is open to anyone who enjoys searching for a bargain. People come from near and far, some making reservations at our RV Park almost a year in advance to make sure they have a spot. It’s certainly worth the drive. The sale is organized to make it easy for shoppers. Participants sign up to receive a yard sale sign and placement on a map of sales. These maps are printed then placed in several high traffic areas such as the Upper Information Kiosk, CRR Admin Office and the Old Fire Hall for shoppers to pick up beginning Friday morning.

This event is productive and fun for all the sellers and the buyers. Some of the feedback from the sellers was, ‘this was the first time I’ve met my neighbors around me and I’ve lived here 20 some years.’ This was said more than one time. Other comments from non-locals were ‘We had no idea how big the Ranch is, we will take more than one day next year.’ And another was, ‘We come out every year, this is a tradition for us.’

There were 65 official entries this year, but there are many unregistered yard sales that put the count way above that. With that many sales, the map becomes essential, allowing a shopper to concentrate on one area or make it a multi-day event and hit the entire Ranch. (More sales….. more goodies!) Ranch residents or outside the community, all are welcome to come find your treasures.

This is just another great example of what a wonderful community Crooked River Ranch is to live in. Save the date for the 2026 CRR Community Yard Sale, September 11, 12, 13 [Friday, Saturday and Sunday]. We look forward to seeing you out and about.

Reach Business Leaders Directly in their Inbox

When it comes to promoting your business in Redmond, you want strategies that deliver results without draining your marketing budget. That’s why the Redmond Chamber of Commerce’s email advertising program stands out as a smart, cost-effective way to reach the people who matter most—local business owners, professionals, and community decisionmakers.

The Chamber’s Weekly Update email is sent every Monday morning to over 1,400 engaged subscribers, each of whom has a vested interest in Redmond’s business community. This isn’t a generic list—these are business leaders who open, read, and act on what they see. With an average open rate of 46.5% and a click-through rate of 7.2%, the Weekly Update far exceeds industry standards, where typical open rates hover between 20–25% and click rates average just 2–3%. Those numbers alone show that your advertising message

is much more likely to be seen and acted upon when placed in the Chamber’s email.

Unlike social media feeds where your ad competes with countless posts and distractions, or print ads that are easy to overlook, email offers a direct line into your audience’s inboxes. Readers choose to subscribe to the Chamber’s updates, which means they are already interested in what’s happening in Redmond and are more likely to pay attention to your message. It’s targeted, permission-based marketing at its best.

Another key advantage is the exclusivity of advertising placements. Each Weekly Update offers just three ad options— one Sponsored Content placement, one Premium Top Banner Ad, and one Lower Banner Ad. With only one advertiser featured per placement per week, your business won’t get lost in a sea of competing ads. Instead, you’ll stand out, making your message more impactful.

Sponsored Content is particularly effective for businesses looking to tell a story, share an offer, or highlight an event. With a 600x400 image, 100 words of custom messaging, and a clickable link, it’s an opportunity to engage readers with both visuals and content. Premium Top Banner Ads ensure your business is the first thing readers see when they open the email, maximizing brand recognition. Meanwhile, Lower Banner Ads offer an affordable way to get your message in front of a local audience, perfect for businesses looking for budget-friendly exposure.

Beyond these placements, the value of Chamber email advertising lies in its community credibility. By advertising through the Chamber, you signal that your business is invested in Redmond and committed to supporting the local economy. That builds trust, strengthens your reputation, and encourages readers to choose your services over out-of-town competitors.

Finally, the Chamber’s email ads are affordable, starting as low as $25 per week for a Lower Banner Ad, making this opportunity accessible to small businesses and startups as well as established companies. With a required threeweek commitment, advertisers benefit from consistent exposure, helping build familiarity and drive conversions.

In a time when every marketing dollar counts, the Redmond Chamber’s email advertising program offers a proven, targeted, and cost-effective way to connect directly with the local business community and get measurable results.
