The big news in Norfolk this year is the reopening of the Norwich Castle Keep after a £28 million refurbishment to transform it into Royal Palace Reborn, taking visitors back to the time when William the Conqueror’s son, James I, came to stay in the city. This isn’t just of national consequence, but of international importance, particularly as 2027 is the Year of the Normans and the Bayeux Tapestry is coming to the British Museum.
