EDS RAMBLINGS
Sorting through my committee notes, I have come to realise that continuity of membership (keeping our subs up to date) has an effect on milestone badge awards etc. as length of service is interrupted if we miss, even for a month, renewing our subscription.
This is a constitutional view taken by head office which we are directed to adhere to. The committee is updated monthly by head office on new, continuing, deceased and resigned members. I urge all members to check their membership status to obviate missing out on ALL the benefits this club provides An obvious sign would be not receiving the Beaded Wheels magazine.
We have had fantastic support for all the club events for October.
There was a good club night attendance for Russell Hulbert’s health and safety refresher with the newly installed defibrillator and with many questions asked, showed this was a benefit to all. An important note raised was that the defib was useless on the wall when it could save some ones life on a rally. Note to organisers take it with us!
The Mid Month Run (shed run) organised by Doug Brown to Peter and Deborah Drummond’s collection of cars, tractors, motorbikes , clocks and radio/tv’s was heartwarming with around 55 vehicles and 100 members enjoying the camaraderie and with about 35 heading to the Waihi Beach RSA for lunch gathering. A pat on the back to you all. If you didn't turn up, then you missed a great day.
The end of Month Run was a lunch time get together and car show at “The Village Green” café Omokoroa where free pizzas were handed out to all those participating. The selection of pizzas were yummy and at the normal retail cost of $28, were amazing. A slight miss communication resulted in some members heading to the village green instead of the café, but we all managed to eventually congregate at the café for a good time which ended in a full carpark.
Eds Ramblings Continued
October movie night was again well attended with the showing of the comedy classic “Open All Hours” and the DVD player and projector ran without a hiccup and the ice cream intermission was enjoyed by all.
November movie will be one of the classic ‘Allo’Allo series, a comedy about a French resistance café run by Rene Artois whilst trying to keep his trysts with two beautiful waitresses, secret from his wife. The evening starts at 6pm with a BYO dinner with the movie starting at 7pm and includes the complementary ice cream.
Come along and enjoy the last movie night of the year.
October Nog and Natter at the Rain Bar, Papamoa was overflowing with 22 members enjoying an excellent meal and camaraderie. The November Nog and Natter at the Tauranga Citz Club will also be the last informal get together of the year, so come along and join in the fun.
The November End of Month run will be a new event ‘The Grandchildren Run’. This event being organised by Chairman Donn White and Club Captain Kaaren Smylie is to garner interest with the younger generation and your support will be most welcome. Come along and be part of the entertainment.
Thought of The Month
Every year it gets harder to make ends meet ….
Ends like hands and feet
