Hello Folks.

Welcome to the new year of 2026 and on behalf of the committee I wish you all a very Happy New Year with good health. This year could be a very challenging year with all the turmoil in the world and makes one wonder whatthe oil prices will do whether it be Up, Down or Stay the same. Let’s all hope that things will settle down and we will all be able to continue to enjoy our lifestyles with family and friends and get out and about in our club vehicles in the warm summer weather ahead.

At our committee meeting recently I recommended that members should contribute articles and interesting information to the newslettereditor to keep the newslettermore interesting. If you are in other motoring clubs and receive newsletters as I am, some newsletters are amazing with what they include with facts, data and knowledgeable information on a huge number of topics regarding their club movement, with technical information and vehicles For Sale and Wanted to Buy sections. So, I am sure it would be helpful if you have been on a club outing or find some interesting facts to send an article into the editor to make our monthly newsletter more interesting. As I have reported before we will also be keeping you all informed via the emailtree for reminders of club events and important club information.

We have a very busy nextthree months of rallies and activities coming up starting with Potters Paddock Gymkhana to be held at the Dudley Hall grounds in Inglewood. There will be at least six motoring tests to participate in. Please check with the Club Captains report for more details. In February we have the annual 53rd Waitara Mini Vin Tour 2026 starting at the usual Waitara Town and Country Car park with first car away at 1.30pm. Then there is the big International Rally in Nelson that some of our members are attending and our annual Maunga Moana rally will be held in early May along with our local branch activities that will be held as well.

There is also plenty of other close branch activities with Whanganui'sVintage weekend and the Burma rally in January on their anniversary weekendand the South Waikato Highland Fling Rally in late February.

Our Club delegate Rob Thomson will be attending and representing our branch at the VCC National Executive meetingin Christchurch in early March. He will report back to the membership on any relevant issues.

So, Keep the Passion...........Get out and participate in our branch activities.........Stay Safe on the Roads.......... Keep to the Left Enjoy... Cheers...

Happy New Year Chairman Colin.

A big thank you to Rob and Helen Stening for steppingin at short notice to organise and run the Xmas Run your efforts were greatly appreciated.

Fifteen cars took part in the run from Stratford to the clubrooms, travelling the back roads as much as possible. It was great to see such a good turnout, and hopefully everyone enjoyed the route, the quiz, and the shared lunch that followed.

Congratulations to Greg and Denise Carter, winners of the Xmas Run.

We are currently planningmore excitingruns for the year ahead and look forward to catching up with you all soon.

EDITORS REPORT

There have been discussions at committee, regarding the possibility of organisinga day trip on the Rail Karts from Whangamomona to Taumarunui. For a cost of $500 you will be able to travel over some interesting country on the now disused rail line on converted golf buggies, with transport provided back to the starting point at Whangamomona. There are comfort stops, a guide and commentary, with meals provided. If you are interested please contact a committee member to express your interest.

We are also looking for someone to organize our upcoming annual Maunga Moana Rally event. Ideally, we need an Organiser and a Secretary.

If you would like a challenge, then consider helping the Branch out by putting your hand up for this important job There has been a lot of experience built up running previous Rallies, which I am sure can be shared around.

It is the wish of the committee that members should wear their name badges to Club events, if you do not have a badge, Kevin Fabish can help you acquire one, give him a call.
