NEIL ROBERT COX—50 YEARS MEMBERSHIP Neil joined the VCC in Auckland in 1971 and has been a continuous member since then. He and his wife Glenys joined the Central Hawke’s Bay Branch in 2015 after transferring from the Marlborough branch. Neil did an auto electrical apprenticeship with Lucas and remained with them for 24 years (9 months of which was spent in the UK studying manufacturing processes and vintage/veteran lamp manufacture). These skills are a great asset to the branch as he is often advising or repairing items for members with older vehicles. His specialty is rewinding the coils for Ford Model T magnetos. These reliable and quality units are rebuilt for both NZ and overseas clients. When Neil returned to NZ he purchased a 1926 Ford Model T Tudor which he restored and used in rallies around Auckland. Five more restorations followed and they were used around Auckland and the Waikato. He has participated in over 38 club plaque runs, and while in Auckland, Christmas parades and 3 movie openings. Included in the many non plaque runs, are 42 runs in NZ, Australia, USA, and the VCC of NZ President Diane Quarry present- UK. Currently he is restoring a 1917 Ford Model T (nearly complete ing Neil Cox CHB Branch member with his and ready 50th year certificate. Congratulation Neil to rally). During his early years with the VCC he has been both on the committee and spare parts convener. He moved to Queensland in 2006 and took with him a 1914 Overland, which was used regularly. He came back to NZ with the Overland and joined the Marlborough branch and later came to Central Hawke’s Bay. In Central Hawke’s Bay Neil is an active member, and when not doing auto electrical repairs he regularly attends dinner/meetings and participates in the club’s various activities.
