Welcome!

Thank you for your interest and taking the time to view our offering for the inaugural “Bred for Balance” Production Sale. We’ve held the same philosophy for over 50 years, not trying to reinvent the wheel, or veer too far in one genetic direction. That philosophy is to make specific matings that compliment each other genetically to design the highest quality phenotype possible. At the same time we believe in the importance of combining those physical attributes with the best performance numbers and EPDs possible. At the core of this philosophy has been honesty. Honesty in our weights, our birthdates, our contemporary groups, how we develop our cattle, and how we recommend you use them.

We also believe hide color does not determine quality. We have chosen make our home in the Angus and Shorthorn breeds for many reasons. Those reasons being we believe these breeds possess the best traits, especially when combined in a crossbreeding program to make the commercial cattleperson the most profitable. When you combine the efficiency and growth of the Angus breed with the docility, soundness and maternal longevity of the Shorthorn breed you have a superior animal backed up by independent data demonstrating just that.

We have marketed a lot of bulls over the years in various sales and off the farm. The fact it only takes one hand to count how many we have replaced should speak for itself. Our bulls go out and work in any environment. While we have not marketed as many females, we still pride ourselves on the success they have had over the years with many telling us they quickly become the best female in their cowherd.

You are invited to give us a call, visit prior to sale day, or ask us anything you’d like. We are an open book. Nearly every animal in the offering goes back multiple generations in our herd and we know every single detail about their history. We have a great group of guest consignors with the same goals in mind who have added some elite lots. That’s something you won’t get at a large program. So, while it won’t be the largest offering, we hope it will be one of the best you can find. It has taken a lot of effort, patience, frustration and joy to get to this point. If you’re able at all, come join us on sale day, or view online and see what we think is the most balanced group of cattle to be offered in quite some time.

Thank you,

A larger framed RiseAbove son with some eye appeal. Study him from the side and its hard to fault him. When he gets on the move he’s sound as can be. Square in his design and smooth all around. He’d got as balanced a set of EPDS as you’ll find and a beautiful dam with a perfect udder. The heaviest bull we will offer this year. Take advantage.

Angus Bulls

LOT 1 | NAYLOR RISE ABOVE 351

Bold sprung, powerful and stout with tremendous rib shape this bull exudes a presence when around him. He will push growth to new levels with a top 1% WW, CW. $W and top 3% YW. Rounding out a set of great numbers is a top 5% $B and $C. With an outcross pedigree to most of today’s popular genetics and a 70lb brithweight there is alot of options with the big guy.

A younger, but still very high performing bull out of one of our long time producers in the herd. He’s got an attractive, athletic build with a sleek front end. There’s a lot of maternal component in his background and a top 10% $M backs it up.

This is him, the bull we will hang our hat on and would run up against any bull currently in any stud, or selling this Fall. Incredibly balanced with a perfect phenotype including 15 EPDs and indexes in the top 25% of the breed and a 112 WW ratio. He’s well suited for any program.

A larger framed, high performer. His Comrade dam produced the high selling bull in our 2024 online sale going to the Grubbs family in Indiana. Bold footed with lots of bone and a clean build. I think many would choose him as their favorite bull of the group. He’s a perfect example of sometimes you just need to ignore numbers and buy the best bull in front of you.

Examine this bulls depth and rib shape, he’s one of a kind in that regard. Still maintaining a clean sheath and excellent testicles. There is a lot of maternal ability in his background. His dam has already produced two high performers working in commercial herds and he is no exception.

LOT 7 | GPN GROWTH FUND 4N25

Lengthy and smooth this bull has a ton of body and size. You can appreciate his square design and lower quarter thickness. Top 3% WW and top 10% YW, Doc, CW, $W, and $F. He’s got enough eye appeal to sire some show ring winners. His dam is a picture perfect cow and produced our high selling bull sold privately off the farm in 2024.

This bull puts together as many good things as any in the Angus offering. His dam is a nearly flawless 6 year old with a perfect udder and feet. Balanced perfectly describes him. Deep sided, clean made, level hipped all while tracking out well. A double digit calving ease, good growth numbers and a top 1% CEM. Make sure to save his daughters, you’ll love them.

From a phenotypic standpoint we like this bull as much as any. Deep, smooth, square, and sound. Growth Fund has been producig bulls like him on our farm for years now and our customers love them. Top 25% of the breed in 9 different EPD criteria.

We love our Flat Tops when its comes to calving ease, eye appeal and just being good all around cows. This bulls combines a lot of those qualities in a more moderate frame. Very clean sheathed and front end. He’s ready for a set of heifers with a 15 CED and -2.6 BWEPD

LOT 16 | GPN RAINFALL 4N30

Tons of muscle and one of the easiest fleshers in the group. Unfortunatly this is the only Rainfall being offered. Fortunately, we had a bunch of females sired by him over the past few years and they are great, maternal mothers. A bull like this one will add pounds to a calf crop and create great replacements. Ultimately, that’s what we all want.

This bull puts it all together for a heifer safe option. Great length of spine and more than adequate thickness. The best CED of the offering of an 18 and a top 3% BWEPD. Top 10% $M and top 25% $W. The Magnitude’s are known for calving ease without sacrificing production.

A unique pedigree and look here. Maybe the smoothest bull we are offering with an excellent front end design. He can work on a lot of genetics. This calf’s dam is a maternal sister to our 4N28 donor. An incredible maternal pedigree with a top 1% STAY. LOT 22 |

No bull in the offering has improved as much in the past couple months than this one. At one point I thought we needed to do some late breaking and take him to a show or two, and I still do. He’s wide topped, complete in his design with virtually no flaws to the eye. Add in his good calving ease numbers he has alot to offer. Muscle and shape a plenty with this Red Card son. He’s wide topped and easy fleshing in a moderate design. Combining good calving ease and soundness you’ll like his progeny. A functional bull whose 3/4 brother is getting a lot of fans at Curtis Genetics in Nebraska. Incredible calving ease with a ton of bone and natural thickness. We couldn’t be happier with how our New Rebel calves have turned out. Look at his $ indexs!

One of my favorites of the group out of a first calf Chief daughter. This bull has a lot of style, good side profile and length. A lot of calving ease in this pedigree with good performance. If someone doesn’t scoop this guy up he’ll be ready for my heifers in the winter after AI.
