Students choose their subjects before/on entry. May have an opportunity to amend these choices in their first 4/6 weeks.
A minimum of 9 subjects together with some short courses are studied for Junior Cycle.

At Hansfield ETSS, we have a number of Autism Classes called An Cosán. Students in An Cosán are supported by a dedicated team of teachers and Special Needs Assistants (SNAs).
Our goal is to help students develop important life skills and social skills that will support them as they grow into adulthood. We focus on building independence and confidence in a learning environment that is safe, interactive, and fun. In An Cosán, every student is encouraged to learn, explore, and become their best self.

At Hansfield ETSS, both students in mainstream and in An Cosán have the opportunity to engage in the NCCA designed Level 1 and Level 2 Learning Programme (L1/L2). This programme focuses on Personal Learning Units (PLUs), providing a more accessible and supportive learning pathway that allows students to develop essential skills at their own pace.

As a standalone programme within the senior cycle experience, the TY programme offers a unique opportunity where schools and communities can collaborate to encourage young people to thrive now and into the future.
It is a dynamic experience for students offering new areas of learning. It allows students to explore their talents and abilities and consolidate key skills.

Wellbeing: Wellbeing: SPHE, weekly Wellbeing lesson, Life Skills, Guidance and Careers, Physical Education and Ethical Education
Students choose four subjects from the following groupings:
Arts: Music, Art, Craft & Design
Business: Business, Accounting, Economics
Technology: Design, Communications and Graphics, Technology, Engineering and Construction Studies
Social Sciences: History, Geography, Home Economics, Politics and Society
Sciences: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, PE and Computer Science
Modern Languages: French, German, Spanish and Italian. It is not compulsory to study a modern language for Leaving Certificate but it is encouraged for application to some universities/college courses
Subjects offered will be dependent on teacher availability.
(Additional, optional, two years)
Is an additional subject running alongside the Leaving Certificate Established and it may be offered depending on interest.
It includes 2 Link Modules:
• Preparation for the World of Work
• Enterprise Education
7 subjects are studied for State Examinations unless student has an Irish exemption.

LCA aims at preparing students for adult and working life. Courses are offered in 3 main areas:
• Vocational Preparation, involving work experience, enterprise and communication.
• General Education, offering life skills, the arts, social education, languages and leisure.
• Vocational Education
Students accumulate credits through attendance and a combination of continuous assessment and written examinations.
Modern facilities and committed staff enable a wide range of activities at lunch time and after school. The availability of activities is based upon staff availability and student interest. For example:
Sporting Activities: Basketball, Soccer, Badminton, Athletics, Cricket, Boxing and Gym Club
Creative Arts: Music Club, Art Club, Debating, Book Club, Games Club, Karaoke Club and School Magazine

Hansfield ETSS was established in 2014. It is a voluntary secondary school under the patronage of Educate Together. It is committed to pursuing excellence by promoting ‘Learning Through Discovery’ and enabling young people to become agents of change in their local and global community.
