Welcome from the Director of Sport

Sport is an integral part of life at Tanglin, and each year our calendar is filled with exciting opportunities for students to develop, compete, and excel.

Our outstanding facilities include a state-of-the-art Athletic Development Gym with Physiotherapy Clinic, Aquatics Centre with 50m pool, additional 25m pool, five multipurpose halls, specialist Gymnastics Centre, climbing walls, and a newly refurbished playing field.

We highly value and actively promote the pursuit of excellence. Through our IMPACT Programme, we provide tailored support for students who aim to reach the highest standards, enhancing both their learning and performance. Each year, a number of our young athletes earn national representative honours and titles, whilst our teams enjoy significant success both locally and across the region.

We strive to develop the potential of all students through a positive experience in sport and our programme is tailored to ensure each child has access to competition which supports each stage of their development as young athletes. This includes House Sport for all students, interschool leagues, and to stretch and challenge our most talented performers, the opportunity to compete in events across the region, including Australia, Hong Kong and Dubai.

At Tanglin we aim to nurture and inspire lifelong participation in sport and physical activity. With access to world class facilities and high-quality coaching, students develop as young athletes in an environment which encourages each child to achieve their personal best.

Recognising Achievement

Success in sport is celebrated at Tanglin and we recognise the individual achievements of those students who achieve excellence in their chosen field.

Our framework for recognising achievements is tailored to the different ages of children. Junior and Middle School students are awarded certificates for their breadth of participation and commitment, while Senior School students can achieve Colours for their level of performance and successful modelling of the Tanglin values of respect, responsibility and purpose.

Upper School Colours

Upper School Colours are awarded to students who have consistently represented the first team in their chosen sport, demonstrating outstanding commitment to sport in the Upper School

Colours

Colours are awarded to students in the Sixth Form who demonstrate excellence and exceptional commitment to the sporting life of Tanglin. Recipients will have modelled Tanglin values and played a key role in their team throughout the season.

First team players can be awarded Colours, whilst all others can receive Half Colours.

A smaller group of students are eligible for Honours each year. Recipients of these awards will not only demonstrate significant commitment to Tanglin sport but will also achieve success on a national or international level.

Infant Sport

Tanglin Infant children have the opportunity to experience a range of sporting activities in an atmosphere of creativity, enjoyment and personal development. Our programme is tailored to establish confident, skilful movers, who are well equipped with fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, catching and throwing. As they move through their early years, children develop more complex, sport specific skills in activities which are developmentally appropriate and foster a joy in being active.
