In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, effective communication is essential for civic engagement, public advocacy, and leadership. This major equips students with the skills to influence meaningful dialogue and advocate for change. Through hands-on learning experiences in the classroom and the community, you will develop practical skills for careers in nonprofit leadership, government, corporate communication, community outreach, and other fields that require strong public engagement and leadership activities.

YOU WILL LEARN TO:

• Understand how communication shapes the world we live in and how you can use it to drive change

• Develop intercultural, persuasive, ethical, and inclusive communication strategies that support work in community, nonprofit, and political settings

• Critically evaluate and engage in public rhetoric, policy, and media narratives to influence social change and challenge systemic injustices

• Communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds and communities
