This cohort-based academic experience is built around a strong community and culminates in the creation and completion of an independent creative or research project.
Facilitating meaningful community engagement through course-based work, scholarship, and student employment, students have opportunities to practice critical and creative thinking while gaining real-world experience.
Faculty and staff provide intensive, one-on-one mentoring to student candidates. The application and interview process itself cultivates intellectual growth and awareness of career trajectories, propelling students toward greater post-graduate success. Fellowship opportunities include the Fulbright Scholarship, Truman Scholarship, Newman Civic Fellowship, Marshall Scholarship, Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, and more.
Advancing the University’s mission and vision through engagement with global cultures, communities, and environments, these experiential programs provide both liberal arts and professional experience with an emphasis on accessibility, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity.
Students from a wide range of disciplines currently collaborate with faculty on research both in and out of the classroom, engaging in deep learning and developing as scholars. Located on the campus of St. Kate’s, The O’Shaughnessy is one of the Twin Cities’ premier arts venues. It hosts worldclass artistic experiences that represent St. Kate’s mission and values, with a focus on women’s voices and an exploration of social justice.
The Catherine G. Murphy Gallery hosts exhibitions and discussions grounded in women’s perspectives. The Gallery is an extension of the University’s mission to integrate the liberal arts and education, with access to art exhibitions, programming and the University's Fine Art Collection.
The Frey Theater is a black boxstyle performance theater with seating for up to 180 guests. It hosts a variety of events including the annual Katie Acts variety show and studentled productions from the drama club, Dew Drop Drama Company.

The St. Catherine University Department of Public Safety is committed to keeping students, faculty, and staff safe on campus. Public safety officers perform routine foot and vehicular patrols of all University properties. They are also available to provide campus community members and guests with escorts to locations in a perimeter around the St. Paul campus. Public safety is staffed 24 hours per day year-round and can be easily reached by phone or texting through the LiveSafe app.
