Icannot saythatI remember everylie Ihaveevertold, even if my memory hasalwaysbeen aboveaverage.The only thingI can tell with certaintyisthatthere hasbeenmanyofthem, some minor andotherslarge.All of this duringa twenty-five-year period that stillhauntsmetothisday,and Iamstill pickingup pieces andtryingtofix damagesI have created.
This book is atruestory andhighlightsnonspecificliesand pathsI have taken. Most of them arefrommyown memory and others have been told to me from peoplewho were there. Ihave worked hard to make sure that peoplecan confirmthatsituations brought up hashappenedtokeepthisbook authentic. Many of thesethingsare from my ownperspective,and therestare recreated afterbeing told by thepeoplewho helped me verify.
Thebaseofthisbook startedout as adiary formyself, to keep trackonmylifeand trytounderstand what Ihavedone. Then it morphedintoa flowingtextand endeduplikethis. Thetextis nota defenceofany kind;justanexplanationofwhy Ichoseto do thethings Idid.I wasa problem, Iama problemand Iwork hard to make sure nevertofallback into this patternagain.I have dividedthatbook into various parts; Howitall began, the Dark Ages,whathas happened sinceand my currentlife.
This book is awarning foranyone thinking about going down this path;donot do what Idid.Ifyou getthe chance to “come clean”,doit. If you areoffered help,takeit. Forother readers, my hope is that this book will give you andinsight into how a brainofa liar worksand whysomeofusdoit. Patterns you might want to look forand hopefully find away outoftheir spiral or know when to help them.
