Southern Mindanao Colleges Senior High School Department proudly celebrates the Acquaintance Party 2024 on 31st of September 2024 at SMC College Skyroom at 4:00 PM, Pagadian City. Southern Mindanao Colleges High School Department celebrates the Acquaintance Party with the theme, “BINI x SB19” in which students has to follow as per dress codes. The Acquaintance Party 2024 begins with the invocation through audio presentation, and follows of the singing of the National Anthem with Mrs. Lorina Obena conducting. “The theme that we have for today’s Acquaintance Party is really for the Gen Z, the BINI and SB19, our popular P-Pop group. And I am so happy to see you all wearing the BINI and SB19 inspired-outfit. And with that, I would not make my message more longer, for us to start the party! Welcome and enjoy the Acquaintance Party 2024!,” says Dr. Albren Echin, School Principal, during his Welcome Address.
On August 30, 2024, students and faculties gathers at SMC Sky Room to celebrate the Buwan ng Wika, embracing this year’s theme “Wikang Mapagpalaya” fostering the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines, empowering of the Filipino language as a symbol of freedom and unity.
After welcome address, follows the trivia for the BINI and SB19 given by Mr. Michael Supring, which gives the knowledge to everyone that there are some trivias behind their big group names.

“It wasn’t in my knowledge that there are trivias behind the big names of our P-Pop group, not until Sir Supring discussed it to us, ” says Allen Consolacion, an SMC HS Student. Follows the trivia, is the Dance Troupe performance, follows with the intermission number of each sections from G11 to G12. “The Dance Troupe performance was so swag and lit! The best, fitted with the theme,” says Kenshi Ponlaroche, an SMC HS Student. After the intermission number of ach sections from G11 to G12, follows the dinner with their own and different kind of foods.
Several cases unveiled the unfairness in the courtroom, and one of these cases is the news regarding the son of the Secretary of Justice - Juanito Jose Diaz Remulla III. He was arrested for alleged possession of illegal drugs but was immediately acquitted with blurred mugshots. Nonetheless, a supermarket clerk, Matthew Tanglao, was arrested for stealing only a can of corned beef and released clear mugshots for people to see and recognize the culprit.
Resuming to the event after dinner is the selection for the Mr. & Ms. Acquaintance Party 2024, the winner for Mr. Acquaintance Party is Alfahad Abdul from STEM 12 - Cancer, and for Ms. Acquaintance Party is Izzy Shane Guilingan, still from the STEM 12 - Cancer. What follows the selection for Mr. & Ms. Acquaintance Party is the Party Night, making the event more memorable to the all SMC HS students. • Cristoffe Hamili

The City Government proudly recognized the Pagadian City, known as the Little Hong Kong of the South, as the 1st Class City and being the 40th Wealthiest City all over the country of Philippines.
Imagine in a world where victory is overshadowed by doubt, expectations meet skepticism. This is the reality for many dedicated athletes, their faces a mix of triumph and anxiety, their hearts pounding with anticipation and fear. It wasn’t just about the medals or trophies, but it was the honor that pulled them to stay and continue what they were doing.
It has shown the improvement of the Pagadian City as years passes by: in 2004, Pagadian City ranked as 87th Wealthiest City out of 116 cities in the Philippines.

Acquaintance Party is not just a simple party, but a party wherein students of different grade levels can acquaint and socialize with one another to gain friends that will last longer.
Southern Mindanao Colleges High School Department faces backlash from other private schools due to its rusting and broken structure and appearance for the past years, and this gives an idea to the stockholders to renovate the Annex building. “It feels so overwhelming to
witness a newly-renovated and the actual blessing of the school building. It seems surreal. Thanks to the stockholders of this institution who pursued this renovation project,” one of the faculty said in an interview. “There will be no longer backlash from other schools since our building is already renovated, refurnished to its new designs, colors, and structure, ” he added. Southern Mindanao Colleges High School Department Annex Building regain its original and more
structural image after its renovation, engages more students to enroll under this institution. With its newly-renovated Annex building, it attracts bunch of students to enroll and it gives them motivation to study hard. “I am proud to say at least that for a longest time, 1st Class City na gyud ang Pagadian, so that siguro mao niy gihatag sa labaw na makagagahom sa siyudad sa Pagadian, dako kaayo ta’g Pasalamat and mao niy gi ingon nga mao niy Christmas gift para sa atoa, ” said Mayor Sammy Co, Pagadian City’s Mayor. “Paglingkod nako in 2004 mga kaigsuonan, the City of Pagadian ranked 87th , so naningkamot gyud ko nga maabot lang ta og ika-60, unya ang siyudad ato gamay pa mga 116 pa kabuok, tas kita ato ika-87th ta duol ra gyud ta sa 116,” he added. And with that, it inspires Mayor Sammy Co to pursue and improve more the City of Pagadian to the highest extent in the near future. This recognition highlights its economic growth and progress, showcasing its strong financial performance and its role as a thriving hub in the Zamboanga Peninsula. “Unom nalang ka component city ang nakalabaw sa ato sa tibuok Pilipinas, dagko-dagko na pud na sila nga mga component city. Pero sa Mindanao, kita nay richest city,” Mayor Co said.
