We are delighted to announce the launch of our shared secondary curriculum across The White Horse Federation, beginning in September 2025 This ambitious initiative marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering a high-quality, coherent educational experience for all students From Year 7 through Year 10, learners will benefit from a carefully designed curriculum in all subjects This shared approach ensures that every student, regardless of their school, receives the same rich and rigorous learning journey, underpinned by aligned assessment and teaching strategies.
What makes this curriculum truly special is its alignment with our existing primary curriculum, creating a seamless and continuous educational pathway from age 3 to 19. We will deliver this through our school improvement triangle which focuses on consistency and strength in curriculum, assessment and pedagogy Key threads will run consistently throughout a child’s school life, supporting deep learning and long-term progress
This continuity not only strengthens academic outcomes but also fosters a sense of identity and belonging across our schools By building on the strengths of our primary provision, we are ensuring that students transition into secondary education with confidence and clarity about what comes next
Behind the scenes, our subject developers have been working collaboratively across schools to co-create this curriculum. Their work has been guided by shared principles of curriculum, great teaching and a commitment to equity and excellence. As we move into the implementation phase, we will continue to refine and improve our offer We are proud of what we are building together and excited to see the impact it will have on our young people’s futures
Launched in September 2024, the now established ENRich Primary Curriculum for early years, reading, writing, and maths crafted by teachers for teachers has significantly raised standards and been thoroughly enjoyed by children and teachers alike. We are very proud of the relationship between the school and our incredible PTA “Bowerhill buddies”. They do a phenomenal job of raising money and we work together to strategically spend funds on enrichment opportunities for every child. So far this year, they have funded separate theatre trips for Years 4 and 5, brought in a mobile farm for years Reception, 1, 2 and 3, a panto for years 3, 4 and 5 - none of which have cost our parents a penny. They also put on a number of events that enrich our children’s lives, as well raise money, such as the ever popular scarecrow trail and our recent colour run.
We are very proud to celebrate our outstanding Ofsted results Inspectors recognised our exceptional environment, noting: “Pupils thrive at The Croft Primary School They talk proudly to visitors about their learning and recommend the school wholeheartedly. The ‘Croftie’ values lie at the heart of the school.” These values guide every child to “be a Croftie” and support one another with kindness and respect. As a church school closely linked with St Michael’s Church in Melksham, we are proud of our distinctive Christian ethos This approach not only supports our commitment to delivering a high-quality education but also helps nurture well-rounded young people who treat others with dignity and respect.
In recognition of the positive developments at The Manor, we have taken time this year to review and refresh our school vision and values, drawing inspiration from Matthew 5:16: "Let your light shine" This verse now shapes our aspirations for every child to shine brightly and strive for their personal best. Our new core values wisdom, aspiration, community, love, and joy reflect and support this vision
It was a joy to come together as a school community to celebrate the introduction of these values marking an exciting new chapter in the life of The Manor

An incredible day of community, spirit and steps! Our entire school community came together for a truly special event - our Whole School Sponsored Walk - raising funds for our new school library. Children took part in engaging talks and activities led by visitors from many different professions - it was wonderful to see the children so enthusiastic, asking thoughtful questions and imagining what they might like to be when they grow up. The day helped them understand the world of work and encouraged them to aim high, set goals, and believe in their own potential
The children at St George’s Church of England Primary School in Semington, all took part in filling a time capsule with drawings, letters, and mementos from 2025.
The time capsules were buried in the David Wilson Homes development not far from the school in the hope that one day they might be found and their memories shared. The housebuilder also donated more than £500 worth of books to the school's library. The children enjoyed deciding what events and memories to include from 2025 and speculating about when they might be discovered.

This year, for the first time, our Year 6 pupils took part in an exciting Enterprise Challenge as part of our careers-led learning curriculum and what a success it was!
Each group was given just £10 and tasked with turning it into a profitable mini-business. The challenge began with a visit from a local business owner, who shared insights into what makes a business successful. Pupils learned about product research, pricing, and customer engagement valuable lessons that brought the world of business to life. Linking with our English curriculum, pupils created logos, slogans, and persuasive adverts to promote their products Their creativity and teamwork were truly inspiring
On Sports Day, they launched their businesses, selling handmade goods including jewellery, cakes, face painting, and lemonade The playground buzzed with excitement, and the support from our school community was incredible Every group made a profit, raising enough to fund a paddleboarding session as a well-earned treat. More importantly, the children developed realworld skills initiative, independence, and collaboration that will benefit them far beyond primary school.
We are so proud of their efforts. Well done, Year 6 true entrepreneurs in the making!
At West Kidlington Primary we have created a new Garden Space. This is led by a group of incredible parent volunteers. They are amazing! They have helped the children grow vegetables, flowers and even placed a wildlife camera for the children to study what happens overnight. The group have grown pumpkins and then cooked the school produce for pupils to eat at break time. They even created a WW2 Curriculum day, we had lots of coverage in the local papers.
Our Chair of Governors was so impressed that she wrote to the gardeners saying: “Dear Gardeners, I wanted to write to you on behalf of the Governors to thank you for all the work you have done in the school garden
Most importantly you have raised the children’s understanding of the natural world around them They have first hand experience of seeing plants grow and how they can contribute to them flourishing
I know that this does not happen without a great deal of work on your part . Thank you for giving your time and energy to adding something special to the children’s experience at school.
We are very grateful to you.”
This term, 16 Year 9 students embarked on an unforgettable trip to Bangkok, Thailand, blending cultural exploration, global learning, and meaningful service From navigating vibrant markets to visiting the majestic Wat Arun Temple, students immersed themselves in the energy of one of the world’s most fascinating cities
A standout moment was visiting a local elephant sanctuary, where students learned about ethical conservation and responsible tourism. They also spent two days at our partner school, Wat Raj O Ros, engaging in joint curriculum activities and cultural exchanges that built lasting friendships and highlighted the power of shared learning.
The most impactful experience was visiting the Mercy Centre Orphanage In preparation, students raised an incredible £6,830 the largest donation the centre has received from a school Their compassion and initiative will directly support vulnerable children in Bangkok Throughout the trip, students were outstanding ambassadors for Whitelands, showing resilience, respect, and maturity They returned with broadened perspectives and lifelong memories
A heartfelt thank you to the staff, families, and wider community who supported this journey This was Whitelands’ global citizenship in action and we couldn’t be prouder
Our proudest achievement at Zouch this year has been the incredible way our children from Afghanistan have integrated into our school community In preparation for Op Lazurite and the resettlement of families in the local area, staff received training from the EMTAS team and created bilingual resources to support the children’s transition. We also welcomed Afghan parents into school, with an interpreter, to help them feel part of our wider school family. Since September, we’ve welcomed over 40 Afghan children, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and supported in learning English and accessing the curriculum. Their resilience and adaptability have been remarkable, and the progress they’ve made in such a short time is phenomenal. Equally, our existing pupils have shown exceptional friendship, kindness, and empathy living out our school values and helping the children feel a true sense of belonging Although it is bittersweet that these children will soon move to permanent homes across the country, we are proud of the difference we’ve made What we once saw as a challenge has become our most rewarding success It has brought our school community even closer together, and we are filled with pride for the compassion, care, and unity that has shone through
We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about the many celebrations from this past year and that this booklet has given you a deeper insight into the wider family of schools your child’s school belongs to It’s been a year filled with achievements, growth, and shared moments of pride across our community
We look forward to many more highlights and successes in the year ahead! In the meantime we wish you a joyful and restful summer break
