Newsletter December 2015 Brave Tanisha Donates Her Hair To Cancer Charity Tanisha Lee, age 12, a student at the Academy, has donated her hair to a wig charity for children affected by cancer. Mum Terisa Lee said it all came about after the whole family watched The C-Word starring Sheridan Smith on television. Terisa said, “The next day Tanisha came to me and said she wanted to have her hair cut off to help make a wig for use by a cancer sufferer. I was taken aback by it, but thought it was a great idea. I must admit I cried a bit!” Tanisha said she was nervous before but that she trusted hairdresser and teacher Mrs Nita, “I am doing it because it is so sad for anyone to lose their hair, so I thought I could help by cutting my hair and raising money too.” Tanisha’s younger sister Brogan, aged 7, watched the haircut and said, “I think it’s really good what she is doing, very brave.” Friends and families who know Tanisha have sponsored the selfless act including Bristol Street Motors Renault Garage in Mansfield who donated £53. The total money raised has topped £313 and the hair will be sent to 360 Hair Donations charity who will use it to make a wig.
