UiTM (University Technology MARA)[6] is one of these many universities worldwide, with an energy audit carried out on the campus. They conducted an energy mapping system which showed that zoned D on campus was listed as one of the top three locations with high electrical consumption:

Defining which systems are consuming more energy and taking initiatives to cut down the consumption of those systems by implementing strategies and campaigning awareness among staff and students. The the annual energy consumption for the years 2011-2013:

Total electrical consumption for 2011 was 1,648,791 kwH – and it increased to 1,657,808 kwH by 0.5% (9017 kwH) in early 2012. From Fig. 1.2, in March and September, there was a high usage, marking the start of the semesters, while low usage was found between July to August and January to February, because of semester breaks. The problem areas identified as high energy consumption were the people and equipment servicing the area, like the brand and power of the air-conditioner, and the number of hours it is on – as well as the numbering of the staff and student body, circling the campus at all hours of
