WATER REVOLUTION FOUNDATION ROADMAP 2050

WaterRevolution Foundation is announcing the Roadmap 2050 towards Regenerative Yachting. This roadmap represents a collective, yachting sector-wide effort to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 latest. Developed through collaboration, following the Life Cycle Approach and based on a unique data exercise, the Roadmap covers every stage of a yacht’s life cycle -design, build, operation and refit - with clear, measurable targets set in five-year increments. The Roadmap provides a path towards net zero for both product and process. With overwhelming support for the Roadmap 2050 from the great mix of business leaders present at the 3rd edition of the foundation’s strategic platform for top 60 industry CEOs, held last May in Lerici, Italy and hosted by Sanlorenzo,

The way it is set up engages all yachting sector stakeholders and follows the approach of a yacht’s life cycle of Design, Build, Operation and Refit

the foundation calls upon all industry stakeholders to embark on this collective journey together. “The Roadmap 2050 is a compass to navigate together through what are, undeniably, unchartered waters”, Robert van Tol, executive director of the foundation explains. “Yachting can and should be pro-active and openly commit to net zero, by latest 2050. Coordination and collaboration are the keys to accomplishing this.” After two previous events, in Hamburg (2023) and Amsterdam (2024), this year’s edition marked a significant shift

from awareness to implementation. The focus turned to embedding regenerative principles into operations, investment decisions and lifecycle strategies across the entire yachting value chain. Renowned environmental advocate Céline Cousteau emphasised that “Regenerative practices in the yachting industry are essential for the health of our oceans and the well-being of future generations. This industry possesses the power, influence, and resources to lead by example. If yachting can transform, no other sector will have an excuse not to follow.”

NEW ELECTRIC CHARGING STATIONS AT MARINA IBIZA

MarinaIbiza recently installed three new electric vehicle charging stations, in partnership with Repsol, underlining its commitment to sustainability. In fact, this service is in addition to the environmental measures implemented this year by the Marina, such as the installation of solar thermal panels for self-sufficiency, the promotion of the use of electric vehicles, the creation of the first shelter for the Ibiza wall lizard, the application of the BioBox system to enhance water quality and the improvement of the selective waste collection system on board. These three dual-outlet charging stations allow for simultaneous recharges of up to 22kW, serving six parking spaces strategically distributed around the port. The charging stations are integrated into Repsol’s digital infrastructure through its Waylet app, which allows customers to locate the station, check its real-time availability, activate the recharge, pay securely, and access the receipt from their mobile.

MAREVIVO CELEBRATES ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY WITH AN EXHIBITION FOR THE OCEANS

Marevivo, an environmental foundation whose objective since 1985 has been to safeguard the marine ecosystem, is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the photographic exhibition “The Living Sea”, held in collaboration with Focused on Nature. Hosted for the first time in Milan’s Natural History Museum, the exhibition, open until 5th September 2025, presents marine photography by photographer, narrator and environmentalist Hussain Aga Khan. The exhibition, which enjoys a major contribution from the Hillary Merkus Recordati Foundation and the support of Banor SIM and Enel, aims to increase awareness of the irreplaceable treasures of the world’s oceans with the objective of highlighting the urgent need to protect marine fauna and ecosystems. The collection showcases the kaleidoscope of underwater biodiversity in the seas of Mexico, Egypt and Polynesia (Tonga and Moorea).

THE NAVE VESPUCCI’S WORLD TOUR TOLD THROUGH AN EXCITING EXHIBITION AT THE HOTEL BRISTOL IN GENOA

Heldin the Art Nouveau influenced setting of the historic Hotel Bristol Palace, breathing early 1900s elegance, the exhibition, entitled “A Tutto Tondo – Il Tour mondiale di Nave Vespucci”, dedicated to the voyage the Nave Vespucci, the historic Italian Navy training ship ambassador for UNESCO, UNICEF and Italy itself has undertaken, visiting over 30 ports in 28 countries and five continents to promote the image of Italy and Made in Italy flair and expertise, strengthening international relations. The ship serves as an ambassador for Italy, promoting the image of a country that is looking to the future while safeguarding

Several moments in the photographic exhibition by Massimo Sestini dedicated to the Nave Vespucci’s voyage around the world. The exhibition took place in June at the Hotel Bristol in Genova

the environment.

To immortalise the most significant moments of this world tour, including the momentous rounding of Cape Horn, the roster of those on board included Massimo Sestini, expert in aerial and acrobatic photography. Launching himself into dizzying flights or plunging into the ocean depths, he provides an unusual view of on-board life.

The photographic exhibition, held along the walls of the lovely hotel staircase - which gave Alfred Hitchcock, who stayed at the hotel several times, inspiration for the spiral that became a theme in his film “Vertigo” - took visitors on a voyage through the maritime traditions of an icon of Italian excellence that

is the pride of the Italian Navy.

The photographic exhibition also provided an opportunity to present the publications the Italian Navy has produced with Giunti Editore, including the two official volumes dedicated to the story of the Vespucci and its voyage around the world, enriched, of course, by Massimo Sestini’s thrilling photographs. “We’re proud to have presented an exhibition of the great international photographer Massimo Sestini”, said Director Giovanni Ferrando. “It’s a privilege to be able to host such an exciting visual experience recounting the most important stages of the voyage carried out by the most beautiful ship in the world”.
