ioia is the sixth in the Vintage 43 metre series, a line launched in 2011 with the intention of offering custom superyachts displacing less than 500 GT with a classic, timeless charm and where the spatial architecture creates generous interiors and roomy outdoor lounges.
Its construction began “on spec” in 2021, and about a year later the yacht was bought by owners who were captivated by its clean, balanced lines. The reputation for excellence that Codecasa has built up over its two-century history also played an important role in their decision. The yard, in fact, celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2025.
The owners are a dynamic couple, connoisseurs of architecture and design. They are lovers of the sea – they have owned other yachts – and they actively followed the entirely construction process, making an intensely personal mark on the project. The interiors were developed by Codecasa’s style office in collaboration with Zepeda Design, enabling close integration of the yard’s vision and the owner’s aesthetics. Like the other yachts in the Vintage 43 series the exterior profile features a distinctive vertical bow. The hull and superstructure livery is personalised with soft colours, a discreet white and pastel grey respectively. White and grey also create a theme for the furnishings and upholstery on the open-air terraces.
The yacht is laid out over three decks plus a sun deck in a traditional configuration, with the sleeping area - four guest cabins - on the lower deck. The owner’s suite is on the forward main deck. The day areas are distributed across the upper decks. Notable among these are the forward lounge, enlarged at the owners’ request, and the sun deck, the social heart of the yacht with sun and shade areas, freestanding furniture, structural bar unit with BBQ and a pool.
Large windows surround the two lounges and on the main and upper decks, blurring the distinction between inside and out. The interior spaces retain a close harmony with the exteriors with similar colours, modern furnishings, a relaxed atmosphere and discreet luxury.
The eventual decision to make Gioia available for charter influenced the choice of materials, which combine elegance, durability and ease of maintenance. Functionality was another crucial consideration for the owners, who requested some modifications – in the aft guest cabins and owner’s dressing room, for example – with the aim of increasing storage capacity and optimising spaces. The dominant material for the interior panelling is bleached oak. The flooring is brushed American walnut by Cadorin with “tatami texture” American walnut for the owner’s suite and stairs. Some panels are embellished with eco-leather in neutral tones. Clear and bronzed mirrors and windows amplify visual depth throughout the interiors. The guest bathrooms are clad in Taj Mahal marble, while white quartzite is the choice for the day heads. Calacatta marble adds sculptural elegance to the owners’ bathrooms. Gioa’s architecture is closely integrated with every yacht’s main purpose – sailing. The yacht’s displacement hull favours efficiency and comfort, offering a relaxed marine experience. Style becomes functional and aesthetics inform the sailing experience.

The imposing straight bow adds personality to the yacht, which has timeless lines. Delicate, elegant colours were chosen for the hull (white) and superstructure (light grey).

The on-board ambience is clean and contemporary. Neutral shades connect interiors and exteriors.

Gioia reinterprets the Vintage line, enabling it to evolve, transcend its classic layout and respond to the requirements of a modern, sophisticated client base. This makes us very proud. Its exterior design is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic lines of the Vintage series. The use of extensive windows and a sophisticated colour palette with pastel shades for the hull and superstructure give the yacht a timeless elegance. Intense attention to detail has shaped distinctive solutions like the layout of the conversation areas on the bridge deck and sun deck. One of the owner’s specifications for the exteriors involved the forward area. He wanted to expand this, creating a comfortable, sociable area. The yard presented a number of proposals, and from these he chose a configuration with two structural sofas, one facing the other, creating a refined, welcoming interior. The sun bridge, with its BBQ area and comfy shaded sofa, is without doubt the beating heart of the yacht. It’s also my favourite area. I think the owners especially liked the sofas of the aft section of the bridge deck with their rounded, embracing shape. Free-standing elements by Minotti provide a touch of exclusivity and refinement for the outdoor spaces. The link between interiors and exteriors is enhanced by a careful selection of neutral tones for the fabrics and coherent furnishing style linking the spaces, creating a perfect visual and sensory continuity.
This aerial view highlights the extent of the exterior areas - the forward upper deck lounge was extended on the owners’ request. On the sun deck (opposite page) the shaded central section with sofa, bar counter and BBQ, separates the forward and aft sun areas with hydromassage pool and sunpads

ioia’s owner is a dynamic individual, accustomed to travelling around the world, with an exceptional awareness of architectural detail. The interiors feature a clean, contemporary aesthetic, a perfect reflection of the owner’s tastes. The client followed every detail of the build closely –the result is tailor-made yacht that embodies his aesthetic and functional vision. The interior design was developed by the collaboration between Zepeda Design and Codecasa’s own interior designers.
Gioia has a unique identity and is a distinctive presence in the luxury yacht market. One notable feature is the main deck saloon, which hosts guests in a sophisticated setting with furniture by the most prestigious international brands. The Minotti sofas, armchairs and chairs, together with the dining table with bronzed finish by Gallotti & Radice, display a timeless elegance, enhancing the style of the entire yacht. One detail is the metal mesh cladding by Sophie Mallebranche in the technical spaces of the saloon, a design touch that embellishes the space with a sophisticated elegance. The sliding doors in the two owners’ dressing rooms, made of glass with a metal mesh, have a very striking visual impact. The client showed considerable sensitivity, not only in the aesthetics but also in the context of functionality, making it easier to find a balance between design and practicality. The materials selection has led to high quality solutions that provide durability without compromising on elegance. Special attention has been given to the use of “tatami texture” American walnut by Cadorin for the guest stairs and the floor in the owner’s cabin. Several samples of these were made to obtain the best balance between aesthetics and durability.

The construction of the M/Y Gioia began “on spec” in 2021. The owners arrived a year after the start of the build, in July 2022. They were new clients for the yard and came to us on the advice of their captain, Alberto Batani, who knows our yachts well.
The owners took an active role in the yacht build and were always present during the work, from construction to installing the furnishings, which were specially chosen for materials, colours, fabrics and so on. Unlike the other yachts in our Vintage series, the yacht’s interiors are totally customised.
The choice of extremely modern furnishings and personalised interiors clearly reflect the owners’ influence.
Gioia is the sixth craft in the Vintage line. The most important of its successful features is without doubt the guarantee of safe, comfortable sailing. The yacht has a GT just below 500 GT. The outdoor spaces on the Vintage line series have sober, elegant lines that provide great liveability and privacy throughout.
Consumption levels are reasonable and quality standards are stellar. It’s a safe yacht, visually appealing and well-suited to long cruises.
In contrast to the previous yachts in this series, the engines are CAT C32 Acert units, a choice made to ensure conformation with environmental standards, making sailing more sustainable.
The M/Y Gioia is the first yacht of this size where we’ve installed SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) filters in the engines, reducing NOx emissions from the diesels.
Range
Gioia is a displacement yacht below 500 GT with steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Its cruising speed is around 11 knots, with a top speed of 16 knots.
