s owners increasingly seek a deeper connection with the sea, modern yacht design has responded with an emphasis on volume, fluidity and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living. These aren’t just lifestyle trends – they reflect a broader redefinition of how space is experienced onboard. In this evolving landscape, Sanlorenzo’s SD132 emerges as a yacht that sets new benchmarks.

Measuring 40.7m in length and with a volume of 420gt, the SD132 is the largest composite-built yacht ever constructed by the Italian shipyard, and the largest in its semi-displacement series. These proportions offer not only exceptional space for the size range but also a radical rethinking of how that space interacts with the surrounding seascape. As such, the SD132 is crafted to support a modern onboard lifestyle – flexible, immersive and deeply attuned to its environment.

From the outset, the goal was clear: to create a yacht where interior and exterior boundaries dissolve. Key to this achievement is the intelligent application of asymmetric design by Zuccon International Project. Asymmetry is a Sanlorenzo hallmark – one that continues to redefine yacht architecture with a strong sense of balance and visual harmony. On the SD132, the main deck walkway is positioned to port, while the upper deck walkway runs to starboard. This strategic arrangement balances weight and volume while unlocking expansive interior footprints. The result is optimised onboard living with seamless flow between decks. Among the standout exterior features are the 85sqm fly deck and the innovative aft beach area. The latter features rotating side terraces that open to expand the walkable surface to 70sqm, transforming the space into an open terrace next to the water. The flow from the beach club into the aft cockpit is smooth and unbroken, allowing guests to drift from water to lounge without encountering a barrier. Forward, a lounge with a crystalclear mini pool and integrated sunbathing area completes the envelope of open-air living. Inside, Zuccon International Project has curated a scheme that places tactility, tone and natural materiality front and centre. The first unit, styled entirely by the studio, is awash in warm woods, brushed

finishes, and earth-inspired colours. Textiles such as Pierre Frey Raphia and Dedar linen are paired with natural stone and bronze-tinted glass to create an atmosphere that is calming, grounded and immersive. This is a yacht designed to be felt as much as seen.

The main saloon, defined by Canaletto walnut and soft, earthy-toned leathers, offers floor-to-ceiling views and a layout that privileges both socialising and serenity. Loose furnishings from Flexform and Cassina lend a relaxed, residential feel, while custom details – such as concealed storage and curated artworks – underscore a commitment to craftsmanship. Forward on the main deck, the 55sqm owner’s suite continues this philosophy. A symphony of dark and light woods, suede accents and matte metals, the space prioritises privacy without sacrificing its connection to the natural world. Four guest cabins on the lower deck complete the accommodation, each with subtle shifts in material and palette to create distinct, personalised environments.

Yet behind the warmth and harmony lies smart engineering and robust capability. A transverse-launching tender garage capable of housing a 6.32-metre tender – typically seen on much larger yachts – sits forward, alongside an additional hangar for toys or a rescue craft. The SD132’s efficient hull form enables a range of 3,200nm, cementing its credentials as a capable long-range cruiser designed for exploration as much as comfort. With five units sold before its official debut, Sanlorenzo is confident the SD132 speaks to a new generation of owners. “We are thrilled with the launch of the SD132 project, which embodies the perfect combination of significant size, innovative design and timeless elegance, in true Sanlorenzo style,” says Sanlorenzo CEO Tommaso Vincenzi. “Every detail reflects the dedication and passion of our team, which has once again sought to challenge traditional limits related to onboard space and volume, achieving a remarkable result.”

With its sensory-rich interior, intelligent spatial solutions and seamless transitions between indoors and out, the SD132 redefines what it means to live at sea.

Concept and Exterior Design

Bernardo Zuccon, Zuccon International Project

The SD132 belongs to the tradition of navetta-style yachts, telling a compelling story in which time and a sense of romance play a central role. Its exterior lines are designed to evoke a timeless elegance, aimed at a refined and experienced owner who seeks a yacht with a gentle, never aggressive, presence. The forms draw inspiration from a stylistic past – not to replicate it, but to reinterpret it through a contemporary lens, in dialogue with current design trends. It’s a balance between memory and innovation: a modern rewriting of a classic language that celebrates harmony and understated style.

The exteriors are designed to blur the boundaries between interior and exterior. The beach club is the first in the SD range to open on three sides, visually dissolving the stern and seamlessly integrating the sea into the onboard experience. The bar, centrally positioned in this space, transforms with light – bright and dynamic during the day, intimate and refined at night. It’s an invitation

to conviviality at all times, perfectly integrated into the natural surroundings. The flybridge is also designed to encourage a fully open experience, offering unobstructed views and a spacious, fluid, and natural use of the outdoor areas.

One of the most important innovations of the SD132 is undoubtedly the asymmetric layout – an architectural choice that breaks away from traditional norms to offer new perspectives and enhanced functionality on board. This innovative approach is most clearly expressed in the beach club configuration. By fully opening the hull side, the boundary between interior and exterior vanishes. From the cockpit, the view extends seamlessly to the sea, eliminating visual and physical barriers and bringing the ocean directly into the onboard experience. This creates a direct, immersive connection with the surrounding environment, maximising the liveability of the exterior spaces and redefining the very concept of life at sea.

Interior Design

Clockwise from left: a spacious owner’s suite is located in the forward section of the main deck; in the owner’s bathroom, Serpeggiante Avorio marble with hammered finishing adorns the sink; earth-inspired colours in the owner’s suite continue the authentic, balanced and welcoming environment; all materials were chosen for their sensory value and their ability to evoke emotions and build a narrative that is experienced through the senses

Bernardo Zuccon, Zuccon International Project

With this project, we weren’t aiming for an impressive effect – the goal was to create authentic and ‘humble’ spaces in the noblest sense of the word: honest, coherent, and essential environments that make the onboard experience less decorative and more genuine. The design philosophy was to create a material and sensory narrative, where every stylistic choice responds to a sensory need, and every space conveys a quiet elegance, rooted in materiality and the authenticity of the project. I always suggest that people come aboard and close their eyes – it’s through touch that the soul of the project is truly perceived. Raw wood, linen and natural textures create an aesthetic that speaks softly yet powerfully. Moreover, the absence of glossy surfaces serves a functional purpose: on a yacht intended for charter use, ease of maintenance is an essential aspect of comfort. The result is a harmonious experience, elegant in its sobriety, deeply rooted in

materiality, where each space possesses its own expressive identity – free from decorative excess yet rich in substance. We worked on an “earthy” palette inspired by natural tones – composed of natural woods, earthy hues, and tactile finishes – and materials chosen for their sensory value and their ability to evoke emotions and build a narrative that is experienced through the senses. The colour palette combines visual restraint with perceptual depth, creating harmonious, coherent environments free from excess. Each material plays a specific narrative role: from the antique oak of the low cabinets, to the bleached walnut on the walls, and the brushed European oak flooring. All are in dialogue with one another to deliver a stylistically consistent and tactilely engaging experience. In this way, the palette is not merely a stylistic choice, but a tool to convey an authentic experience, deeply rooted in materiality.

The SD132 marks a key moment in the evolution of Sanlorenzo’s semi-displacement range. Here, the concept of asymmetry reaches its highest expression, with an asymmetric main deck to starboard and an asymmetric upper deck to port. This solution has allowed Sanlorenzo to maximize space usability without compromising the overall elegance. It was also an engineering challenge, as achieving balance and stability without disrupting the visual harmony required meticulous planning

The Shipyard

Tommaso Vincenzi, CEO Sanlorenzo

The new flagship of Sanlorenzo’s Yacht Business Unit, the SD132 represents a significant evolution within Sanlorenzo’s semi-displacement line, refining the key concepts that have defined the SD range and elevating them to a higher level of maturity. This model embodies the philosophy that has guided the shipyard’s success – crafting yachts for experienced owners who prioritise the pleasure of navigation without sacrificing performance.

The SD132 has generated significant interest even before its official launch. I believe its success stems from a combination of strategic and stylistic factors that perfectly align with the expectations of today’s yacht owners. As a matured evolution of the SD range, the SD132 is built on solid foundations while introducing distinctive innovations. One key factor is its asymmetry, which has been taken to the next level. The enhanced liveability of spaces strengthens the connection with the sea in a way previously unseen within this range.

Beyond aesthetics, one of the biggest innovations on the SD132 is the way we’ve approached space. Thanks to the asymmetric layout, we’ve been able to maximise interior ergonomics, creating an impressive sub-420gt yacht within just 40 metres – a configuration that is rarely achieved with such elegance and architectural balance. This doesn’t just enhance comfort and liveability – it also gives the SD132 a clear advantage over competitors of the same length, offering owners more generous, functional and immersive spaces that blend effortlessly with the sea. Lastly, an often overlooked but crucial aspect is the strong family feeling across Sanlorenzo models. Owners appreciate the brand’s consistency and the fact that, despite its innovations, the SD132 retains a stylistic continuity that makes it instantly recognisable. This not only reinforces the prestige of the model but ensures it remains timeless for years to come.

The SD132’s layout is designed to maximize liveability while avoiding unnecessary volume waste. The connection between indoor and outdoor spaces has been strategically planned to reduce reliance on artificial lighting and climate control systems
