Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Second Sunday after the Epiphany
Lamb of God, you take on the sins and suffering of the world. Call us into partnership with you to love and serve your people by your side. Call us to witness your goodness and to join your ongoing work of liberation. Call to us by name, and we will delight in your ways. Call to us by name, and we will follow you forever. Amen.
One: Look, here is the Lamb of God! Many: Jesus calls us: Come and see.
VOLUNTARY O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go arr. by John Purifoy
(Please use the opening voluntary as a time of silent meditation and preparation for worship.)
INTROIT Just As I Am
William Bradbury, arr. by Howard Helvey
Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidd’st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt, fightings and fears within, without, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. Just as I am, thy love unknown has broken every barrier down; now to be thine, yea, thine alone, O Lamb of God, I come, I come. O Lamb of God, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
† Those able are invited to stand.
Bold text is read or sung by all
One: I waited patiently upon the Lord, who stooped to me and heard my cry.
Many: The Lord lifted me out of the pit, out of the mire, and set my feet upon a high cliff, making my footing sure.
One: The Lord put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many shall see, and stand in awe, and they shall trust the Lord.
Many: Happy are those who put their trust in the Lord!
One: I love to do your will. O my God. Your law is deep within me.
Many: So I will speak of your faithfulness. Let us proclaim in the great assembly the truth of God’s steadfast love. † HYMN 269 Lead On, O King Eternal
God of the ages. We do not always wait with patience. We do not always sing your praises. We do not always recognize your work in our lives. We would rather take credit for ourselves. We would rather take the easy way out. We would rather step on others if it means more for ourselves. Forgive us for all the ways we forget you. Help us to delight to do your will. Help us to trust in you and return us to the path of righteousness.

One: The Lamb of God takes away the sins of the world. The Lamb of God takes away the sins of each and every one of us.
Many: Christ has mercy on us, forgiving our sins. Alleluia!
† GLORIA GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

SERMON ”Caught Lacking” The Rev. Seelman
† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH from the PC(USA) Brief Statement of Faith
In life and in death, we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.
We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed, and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the
brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.
With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM You Will I Love
Kevin Hildebrand
You will I love, my strength, my tower; You will I love, my hope, my joy; You will I love with all my power, with fervor time cannot destroy. You will I love, O Light divine, so long as life is mine. You will I love, my life, my Savior; You are my best, my truest friend; You will I love and praise forever, for never shall your kindness end. Your love for me casts out my fear; You are my Savior dear. I thank you, Jesus, sun from heaven, whose radiance has brought light to me; I thank you, who has richly given all that could make me glad and free. I thank you that my soul is healed with love that you revealed. Oh, keep me watchful, then, and humble, and never suffer me to stray; uphold me when my feet stumble, and keep me faithful to your way. Fill all my nature with your light, O Radiance strong and bright! You will I love, my crown of gladness, You will I love, my God and Lord, within the darkest depths of sadness, and not for hope of high reward. For your own sake, O Light divine, so long as life is mine.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.
One: The Lord be with you.
Many: And also with you.
One: Lift up your hearts.
Many: We lift them to the Lord.
One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
Many: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
… of the universal church and the heavenly choir:

The prayer continues. … as we share this joyful feast:

One: In your mercy, Many: Lord, hear our prayer.
… now and forever.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
One: The gifts of God for the people of God. Many: Let us keep the feast.
