As a private Christian liberal arts university, Pepperdine is at the forefront of holistically developing the next generation of leaders through rigorous curricula, faculty mentorship, tailored research opportunities, and timely lectureship series.
The liberal arts curriculum at Pepperdine serves as the foundation upon which you can explore, debate, and address life’s deepest questions and the world’s greatest challenges. The outcome is a transformational educational experience that allows you to explore your passions, enrich your life through new academic encounters, and graduate with fundamental knowledge to draw upon throughout your life. Semester-long core courses sharpen critical thinking, improve information literacy, and build a learning community. First-year students are given their choice of intellectually engaging seminars and colloquia unique to Pepperdine.
From the ancient Greeks to today's most renowned thinkers, the Great Books Colloquium will enable you to read and discuss some of the most influential, thought-provoking, and enjoyable literary works ever written.
Foundations of Reasoning is designed to strengthen students’ reasoning skills and advance their capacity to think clearly and deeply about important issues, such as truth, goodness, justice, and meaning. Together, students and professors uncover and sharpen vital intellectual tools and then apply those tools to big ideas and to specific real-world situations.
The Social Action and Justice Colloquium focuses on issues of social justice, including human rights, poverty, the interplay of religion and culture, and the role of media in shaping social movements.

Housed in the Pepperdine College of Health Science, the School of Nursing is dedicated to the highest standards of academic excellence, clinical preparation, and Christian values. The school aims to develop students into skilled and compassionate registered nurses who lead lives of purpose, service, and leadership within health systems and communities locally and worldwide. Pepperdine will achieve this by offering an innovative curriculum delivered by world-class faculty in newly developed and state-of-the-art clinical education facilities. Future nurses engage in dynamic experiential learning opportunities through preceptorships at leading hospitals and medical facilities in both Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
Nursing students on the four-year pathway will spend their first two years completing general education and core natural and social sciences courses at Pepperdine’s Malibu campus before transitioning to the Calabasas campus for didactic and laboratory nursing classes as well as clinical preceptorships. Students on the two-year pathway, after completing all required courses at another college or university, will enroll at the Calabasas campus to complete a curriculum focused primarily on nursing courses and experiential learning. At graduation, all students will be prepared to succeed on the NCLEX-RN exam to become registered nurses.

As students study abroad, they remain in the hands of expert Pepperdine faculty. Professors like Marshall engage students in cultural humility as they seek to solve today’s most pressing challenges.
At the forefront of global symposia, diplomacy, trade, and cultural exchange, the Washington, DC, DC Plus, and Global Fellows programs offer students real-world experience with the issues, ideas, and people shaping the future, making them the starting point of many highly coveted careers in the US and around the world.
The DC Plus program offers students a unique opportunity to broaden their worldview and gain meaningful professional experience. Students spend one semester immersed in a rich cultural environment through one of Pepperdine’s international programs, followed by a second semester interning in the nation’s capital through the Washington, DC, program. This combination makes the DC Plus program ideal for students eager to deepen their global perspective while taking important steps toward their career goals.
Pepperdine’s Global Fellows program is designed to equip students to engage meaningfully across cultures and disciplines. The program empowers students to:
• Lead and communicate with cultural humility and global competence
• Build a robust network of professionals and mentors
• Collaborate with communities around the world
To become a Global Fellow, students commit to two semesters abroad followed by a third semester in the Washington, DC, program, integrating global learning with real-world experience.

Service is a posture, not an event, and developing that ethos is critical to the transformative educational experience. A degree from Pepperdine ensures students carry an inherent desire to serve and make a difference in the lives of others.
