Narromine Red Cross celebrates big 110 years
By SOPHIA MCCAUGHAN FEDERAL Election may well be over, but the machinations on the Australian political landscape, never stops. Congratulations as Narromine Red Cross celebrated 110 years of service to the community. PHOTO: NARROMINE STAR. By SOPHIA MCCAUGHAN NARROMINE Red Cross celebrated 110 years of service to the community late last week with a morning tea at the Bowling Club. It was 114-years-ago that the Australian Branch of the British Red Cross Society formed after the outbreak of World War I and, only a year later in 1915, Narromine formed their own Red Cross Branch. The Narromine Red Cross exists to support people in
their most difficult experiences with 110 years of service to residents in Narromine Shire. They do this by acting locally and connecting globally to deliver what is needed, when it is needed most. From emergency support, critical blood donations, migration services, and community resilience, to promoting respect for the laws, Narromine Red Cross continues to stand beside and treat every human with dignity and respect.
The Narromine Red Cross is one of thousands of branches in the Australian Red Cross; which is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Together with 191 other National Societies in countries around the world, it is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network with 16 million volunteers working under the Red Cross banner alongside staff to help those impacted by crisis, disaster, and confl ict.
