Big centenary celebrations for Warren CWA By LOCAL NEWSDESK

It’s not every day that a community organisation gets to celebrate the fact they’ve been around for 100 years, but that is what will happen later this month when the Warren branch of the Country Women’s Association *(CWA) gets together to celebrate its centenary. The centenary luncheon will be held at the Warren Sporting and Cultural Complex on Friday, August 29, and the community is invited to come along and join in the fun, food, fashion and friendship at the special event. Cost to attend is $20 and attendees will be treated to a wonderful event that acknowledges the important work and achievements of the Warren CWA branch. Attendees are invited to dress in vintage attire, if they have it, as there will be a prize for “best-dressed” on the day. Organisation of the commemoration was finalised at the group’s August monthly meeting held at the WOW centre on Thursday, August 8 – a day earlier than usual – due to many members’ previous commitments on the Friday, a club spokesperson said. Doin’ it for the kids: Rotary fundraiser supports paediatric services By SHARON BONTHUYS One week out from the event, just a handful of tickets remain for Warren Rotary Club’s fundraising dinner to support paediatric services in the community - something the organisers say is vital not only for local children but for the entire community. At the time of writing, 230 tickets had been sold for the “Our Children Our Future” dinner at the Warren Sporting and Cultural Centre on Wednesday, August 27, and Rotary could not be more pleased, according to group spokesperson, Paul Smith. “If we can get 250 in the room, it’d be great,” Paul told Warren Star. “We certainly have tried hard!” he added. A great evening is planned, with beautiful music by Frances Storer, curated auctions, signature drinks by Josephine’s Cocktails, delicious food from Narromine’s Soul Food Depot, and bar service provided by volunteers from Warren Rugby Club.
