THE 26 -year-old man behind an alleged fatal stabbing of a teenage boy in Narromine, has pleaded not guilty to the charge. Anthony Facchi appeared via audio visual link (AVL) dressed in his prison greens in front of Justice Mark Hamill in the NSW Supreme Court in Sydney last Friday, May 2. This was the final hearing before Facchi goes to trial at Dubbo Local Court setdown for Monday, March 2 2026 for a a trial expected to take approximately five to six weeks. Friday’s was a short arraignment with Facchi appearing agitated by the ongoing proceedings. He has also remained staunch in his claim of innocence throughout his hearings over the past six months. The Narromine Star revealed in December last year, that Facchi would be self-representing in his alleged murder trial, after Legal Aid NSW were forced to withdraw from his court matter.
NATIONAL Party safely retained the western NSW seat of Parkes in last Saturday’s Federal Election, but a significant swing to Labor, may hint at shifting attitudes among some constituents. Jamie Chaffey is the new federal Member for Parkes, after predecessor and former Minister, Mark Coulton, announced his retirement from politics after 17 years at the helm. However, the Labor Government was easily re-elected nationally with an increased majority of around 20 seats in an election that pundits and pollsters had believed beforehand would be tight. Parkes is the largest electorate in NSW and the seventh largest in the country, taking in 406,755 square kilometres west of the Great Dividing Range and making-up just over 50 per cent of the area of State. Mr Chaffey said in a media statement on Monday, that he is grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of the Parkes electorate. “Over the last nine months of the campaign, I have met so many incredible people and I would like to thank everyone
