Dr. Nishi Patel, M.D., is a prominent leader in cardiovascular medicine, recognized for his expertise in advanced heart failure, cardiac critical care, and his commitment to expanding access to high-quality heart care. Based at WellSpan York Hospital in York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Patel provides comprehensive treatment for patients with complex heart conditions while simultaneously driving innovation in telemedicine as National Director of Cardiac Imaging for Access Physicians/SOC Telemedicine. Dr. Patel’s journey in medicine began at Drexel University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2009. He continued his education at Drexel University College of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2013. He completed his internship and residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, then pursued fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Patel is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology, Echocardiography, Cardiac CT, and Nuclear Cardiology. At WellSpan York Hospital, Dr. Patel leads a multidisciplinary team caring for patients with advanced and critical heart disease. His expertise includes the use of cutting-edge technologies such as ECMO, Impella, and LVAD, which provide lifesaving support for patients with severe heart failure. Dr. Patel has played a key role in building and expanding the hospital’s advanced heart failure program, ensuring that patients receive state-of-the-art care close to home and minimizing the need for travel to distant specialty centers. Nationally, Nishi Patel’s work as National Director of Cardiac Imaging with Access Telecare focuses on increasing access to advanced imaging and specialist consultation in rural and community hospitals.
