f advances in technology, the evolution of human interaction, and the vertiginous ascent of global financial markets have escaped your notice—or failed to stir your interest—this issue may not be for you. However, for those intent on discerning what lies ahead, this special edition—perhaps the only lifestyle publication to rigorously examine the intersection of artificial intelligence and culture—aims to provoke thought, ignite curiosity, and inspire decisive action.
We stand upon the threshold of innovations and creative achievements without historical precedent. From what we have uncovered, nothing will remain untouched. The Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, Generation Z, and Generation Alpha are poised to experience a sweeping cultural transformation in how we learn, work, and live. For Generation Beta—those whose lives begin in 2025—the primary course will be a seamlessly integrated world of robotics, autonomous air transport, unprecedented medical breakthroughs, sustained economic expansion, and—one hopes—an era of lasting peace, with the cultural renaissance of our time served as its most exquisite final course.
In the spirit of full disclosure—a curious requirement, yet one increasingly expected in certain quarters of the media— it is worth noting that many elements of this publication have purposefully been conceived, developed, or augmented through AI technology. Traditional search engines played their role, as did extensive human effort, oversight, and direction. Still, in retrospect, the act of “Googling” now feels decidedly antiquated. It seems as inelegant and ill-suited to the task of sourcing data, compiling statistics, and generating imagery as a horseless carriage would be if it were to compete at Daytona.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
A C-SUITE PERSPECTIVE
Our September issues were designed and produced as an intentional experiment—an exploration of both the advantages and limitations of AI as a creative and analytical partner, with the express aim of enriching the experience of both readers and sponsors. Your impressions matter greatly, and we invite them in earnest; your insights will help inform the path forward.
In the course of our research, we discovered that only one publisher—a venerable international title—had thus far dared to depart meaningfully from the conventions of traditional publishing. As expected, their decision was met with criticism and skepticism. Yet they proceeded undeterred, much like the early explorers who ventured into unknown waters in search of a “new world.” What some decried as folly and eccentricity ultimately proved a remarkable success.
The lessons drawn from this endeavor have challenged us to think with greater depth and audacity than we imagined possible. Upon reflection, we have identified a course—contemplated by a few, yet seldom realized—that we now intend to pursue.
In the coming months, we aspire to reshape the way our audience engages with our publications and cultivate a global following without equal. It is, admittedly, an ambitious vision, but we have never lacked the fortitude or the discipline required to see it fulfilled.
We encourage you to remain with us for what promises to be an extraordinary journey. If our plans come to fruition, what lies ahead will not merely be “big”—it will redefine the very scale by which the media will be measured.
Enjoy the adventure of a lifetime. H

LIFESTYLES
What is the impact of technology on a species that is not prepared or fully knowledgeable about the advances rushing towards them unimpeded? We examine life changes soon to be realized, and once they are released, there’s no going back. Good or bad, don’t shoot the messenger; we simply deliver to you what may be the last printed document outlining the future of AI before it takes over.

C – SUITE PERSPECTIVE
It’s the beginning of a new world, and do you feel fine? AI changes everything, and we know it, giving us permission to draw back the curtain of a new reality and expose the consequences of progress. Another question for deep thinkers: What will happen to humans if radical change occurs minute by minute, and we are at the stage of infancy in the development of superintelligence? It’s worth considering and discussing—what do you think?
26
CULTURE
Changing yourself so you can create change. It starts with a dissatisfaction with the ordinary and the usual. Step-2 Become engrossed in the dichotomy of ‘what is’ and ‘what could/should be.’ Finally, lean into proven steps to maximize your full emotional and social IQ and personality so you can charge forward and turn your vision into reality.

INTIMACY
Companionship, AI dating, and the leap into Bot sex; where should the lines be drawn? It’s a subject right up there with politics and religion, with people carrying strong beliefs, if you can imagine. Questions are being asked: what is love, when is it cheating, and will some of us make the switch by entering into a relationship with what appears to be the perfect mate, coming with replacement parts and trade-in options.
34 CAPITAL
The trillion-dollar transfer is taking place, but it will come with winners and losers. Examining steps you can take to ensure your assets and legacy aren’t wasted on furious experiences, journeys, and stupidity.

Some call it the ‘fountain of youth,’ others swear by its regenerative properties, while skeptics question its efficacy due to small sample research. But whether or not you believe in the science of Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, plus Hydrogen, it’s our work to get the information and data into your hands so you can determine if it works.

ENTERTAINMENT– FLICKS
You’re not going to complain about your NETFLIX subscription this month once you tune into a locally inspired (Cape Cod and surrounding towns) film; well, actually, it’s a three-season ‘gotta watch’ series that will have you wishing you hadn’t watched three episodes the night before you had to rise at 6 a.m., only to repeat the same viewing habits the next night. Critically acclaimed Hightown is a winner!
ALERT!
In Season 3, Episode 3, of Hightown, titled “Fall Brook” (Friday, February 9, 2024), now available on NETFLIX, viewers are recognizing that the producers switched the name Fall River to Fall Brook. Oddly, in all previous episodes, Fall River was explicitly used to establish a plot, define characters, and an actual location. For unknown reasons, the production company made the switch but accurately kept all other named locations. This change was never explained, and no comments have been made by the production company, directors, producers, or officials from Fall River. We alert viewers to this unusual change in the script midstream, due to a lack of transparency, full disclosure, or notification. Additionally, from a creative standpoint, such a sleight of hand raises questions about the integrity and intent of the participants behind the action.
SOCIAL –WHAT’S NEXT?
As we turn the corner on summer and slowly slip into fall, we bring you some of the best events of the season, including hot cars, cold rivers, delightful vineyards, boys’ toys (and for women too), and an opportunity to get up close to New York Fashion Week runways!

Promise, Peril, and the Price of Progress
BY ROBERT WRIGHT & LEX MARLOWE
Artificial intelligence is moving from novelty to necessity, transforming nearly every aspect of modern life. It is influencing how people learn, work, create, interact, manage finances, and even form relationships. While its presence was once confined to specialized industries, AI is now embedded in daily routines, subtly reshaping expectations and opportunities. The scale of these changes is vast, with both advantages and drawbacks emerging in ways that are not yet fully understood. Cultural traditions, educational systems, career paths, and social networks are all experiencing shifts, and the long-standing assumption that personal privacy is a fundamental right is being challenged as AI becomes increasingly integrated into the infrastructure of modern society.
THE CULTURAL SPHERE is perhaps the most visible signs of AI’s influence. Creative production—once dependent on years of training, large budgets, or specialized tools—is now accessible to anyone with a connection to AI-powered platforms. This democratization has brought new voices and perspectives into public view, allowing cultural expression to flourish in previously underrepresented communities. However, it has also created an environment in which authentic authorship can be difficult to verify. Audiences now consume a mixture of human-created and AIgenerated material, often without knowing which is which, begging the question: Was this the intention, and if not, where are the guardrails and watchdogs keeping tabs on violations?
The sheer volume of output means trends emerge and fade faster, and the line between innovation and replication has grown increasingly thin. Even as access to information broadens, questions about originality, quality, and the preservation of artistic heritage remain unresolved.
IN EDUCATION, the impact of AI is similarly complex. Intelligent tutoring systems can tailor lessons to individual
learning styles, providing instant feedback and adaptive pathways that allow students to progress at their own pace. These tools can help close gaps in traditional education, offering personalized instruction to learners who might otherwise be overlooked. The global reach of AI platforms also means students can access world-class coaches and mentors from almost anywhere, often at low or no cost. Yet reliance on AI in education raises questions about the development of independent thinking and problemsolving skills. Over time, students who primarily learn from adaptive systems may struggle to critically evaluate information or form ideas without algorithmic guidance. Furthermore, the biases inherent in training data can shape what is taught and how it is framed, subtly influencing worldviews without the learner’s awareness. Moreover, many would argue that the human experience in learning is a necessity.
CAREERS are undergoing significant realignment. Automation, driven by increasingly capable AI, is handling tasks once believed to be only possible by human hands. Routine and repetitive work is disappearing from many industries, including data entry, customer service, and certain types of
legal, accounting, and creative work. While this shift eliminates mundane or hazardous duties, it also displaces workers who may lack the resources or time to retrain for new roles. Simultaneously, AI is creating opportunities for entirely new professions, from prompt engineering to AI ethics and oversight, which demand both technical fluency and human understanding. Workers positioned to adapt may find that their productivity and value are enhanced by AI collaboration, but those who cannot will likely experience prolonged periods of economic instability. The pace of change challenges the ability of educational and vocational systems to keep up, leaving many in a state of transition.
SOCIAL INTERACTIONS are being reshaped in quieter but equally significant ways. AI recommendation systems influence what news, entertainment, and even friendships individuals encounter online, gradually narrowing or broadening social circles based on algorithmic design. In some cases, this personalization helps people find communities with shared interests across great distances. In others, it fosters echo chambers that reinforce pre-existing beliefs and limit exposure to differing viewpoints. The spread of AI-driven conversational agents and virtual companions adds another dimension: individuals can now form sustained, interactive relationships with non-human entities. While these interactions can provide companionship and emotional support, they may also influence how people interact with one another in face-to-face settings, altering expectations for empathy, availability, and communication.
FINANCIAL LIFE is experiencing its AI-driven transformation. Automated investment platforms and algorithmic trading systems offer individuals
sophisticated portfolio management that was once available only to large institutions. Fraud detection has become faster and more precise, reducing certain risks for consumers and businesses. AI’s predictive capabilities can help individuals budget more effectively, anticipate expenses, and identify investment opportunities. Yet the same technologies also concentrate influence in the hands of those who design and control the algorithms. Investors who do not understand how these systems operate may misinterpret their advice or fail to anticipate sudden market shifts amplified by algorithmic reactions. The potential for rapid, AI-driven volatility means that while financial opportunities expand, so too do systemic risks.
ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS are not immune to AI’s reach. Dating platforms already use algorithms to suggest matches, but AI’s growing ability to interpret language, tone, and facial expressions is enabling more sophisticated compatibility assessments. Some services now use AI to coach users on communication, suggest conversation topics, or even simulate potential interactions with a prospective partner. For some, this results in more efficient and satisfying matches. For others, it creates a dynamic in which relationships are initiated, guided, and sometimes even sustained with the involvement of non-human intermediaries. The availability of AI-driven companionship, including advanced virtual partners, raises questions about how human expectations of romance and intimacy may shift in the long term. These developments are blurring boundaries between technology-assisted matchmaking and technology-substituted relationships.
One of the most profound undercurrents across all these domains is the EROSION OF PRIVACY as a personal right. AI systems thrive on data—images, text, voice, location, and behavioral patterns— collected from countless sources. This data is used to train models, improve accuracy, and personalize user experiences. While these capabilities offer clear benefits, they also create an environment in which anonymity becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. Information that once required deliberate disclosure can now be
inferred from seemingly unrelated data points. Predictive analytics can anticipate an individual’s preferences, habits, and even movements with a high degree of accuracy. In some cases, the loss of privacy is framed as a trade-off for convenience or security; in others, it occurs without the individual’s awareness or consent. The idea of privacy as an inherent personal right is being replaced by privacy as a negotiable condition, subject to terms dictated by service providers and governments.
The positive and negative aspects of these shifts are often two sides of the same coin. Increased access to information and tools empowers individuals but also increases the risk of misinformation. Automation frees people from repetitive work but can lead to economic displacement. Personalization enhances convenience but narrows exposure to diverse perspectives. Privacy trade-offs enable greater predictive power but erode autonomy. The balance between these outcomes is not fixed and will vary across regions, cultures, and individuals depending on how AI technologies are adopted and governed.
It is possible to imagine both optimistic and cautionary scenarios. In one, AI is integrated thoughtfully, with robust safeguards, equitable access, and widespread education ensuring that its benefits are broadly shared. In another, control of AI is concentrated among a few entities, deepening inequalities, eroding trust, and accelerating cultural fragmentation. Most likely, the future will contain elements of both, shaped by choices made now by policymakers, technologists, and the public. The challenge lies in managing AI’s integration so that its capabilities are used to enhance rather than diminish the human experience, recognizing that its influence will be felt not just in technical systems but in the rhythms and values of daily life. H

The evolving balance of benefits and risks will depend on human choices about regulation, ethics, and societal values.
A Change In Attitude Results In Expanding Latitude
When ‘Good-Enough’ Isn’t An Option
BY CATHERINE HILDERBRAND & LEX MARLOWE
Some people move through life much like actors following a script—each day, they carefully turn the pages slowly and predictably, without hesitation or looking ahead for a change in plot. As their weekdays pass in quiet repetition, weekends arrive as familiar echoes of the past. There’s comfort in
this rhythm, perhaps a sense of safety, because it lacks surprises and infrequently introduces the unknown—that is, without sufficient warning. And for many, there’s no compelling reason to color outside the lines of social norms or expectation; their slow and steady course of non-action assures a path of least resistance and total control for a gray existence.
As for others, such a lifestyle is viewed as intolerable. A day without twists,
turns, and challenges within their social circles feels suffocating. They thrive on motion, organizing, and rearranging, while guiding the meek toward “what is best.” They welcome change, but only if adaptations follow their rules, are limited in scope, and are befitting their frame of reference. This cadre of social soldiers has a significant influence on the passive bystanders who quietly follow in an orderly fashion; otherwise, they would be viewed
as troublemakers and ostracized.
Two distinct groups, it seems; the peacekeepers and local power shapers co-exist even with an imbalance of priorities. Yet both may have grown up in the same towns, faced similar limitations, and learned to navigate identical boundaries—albeit invisible—for the purpose of keeping their community neatly organized and controlled; their walls against disruptors
are constantly reinforced against the slightest whiff of change.
One group speaks up, while the other remains silent, yet the outcome is the same. Without a fresh frame of reference, even though actions are attempted, nothing actually changes, and the same mistakes repeat themselves, causing progress to remain dormant. For public appearances, the optics glow brightly through the use of descriptions decorated
And for many, there’s no compelling reason to color outside the lines of social norms or expectation; their slow and steady course of non-action assures a path of least resistance and total control for a gray existence.

with colorful words of action that tend to fall flat when common sense audits the outcome.
Another layer to this shared pattern emerges when an outsider’s perspective is introduced—especially when they suggest improvements or advancements found in similar communities. Unfortunately, it is viewed as a threat to an undisclosed plan shared by a small but determined few. No sooner is an idea proposed than
No sooner is an idea proposed than obstructionists leap forward with torches and pitchforks, eager to shut down the conversation in order to end the discussion before it gains traction. The reason for this is that it came from outsiders, and the announcement blindsided the power brokers.
obstructionists leap forward with torches and pitchforks, eager to shut down the conversation in order to end the discussion before it gains traction. The reason for this is that it came from outsiders, and the announcement blindsided the power brokers. Later, in private huddles, they return to off-the-record discussion, usually when they feel their authority or effort is under threat. These are circles where membership feels inherited, or perhaps loosely appointed, where repetition is rewarded, and “innovation” often means reproducing something viewed from a distance in the hope of passing it off as an original thought or idea they had no attachment to in the first place.
ESCAPING THE COMFORT TRAP
Everyone dreams of reinvention; yet true personal transformation rarely happens within the confines of familiarity. Daily patterns, long-standing friendships, and habitual spaces can become a comfort trap—pleasant, predictable, and quietly limiting. It can be associated with the undesirable trait known as validation and acceptance. These feelings can be reduced
to finding satisfaction in longing to be part of a cause at the peril of losing one’s identity and values. Those who subscribe find satisfaction and emotional reward for playing a starring role in the imaginary production, “Going Along To Get Along.”
To change one’s thought processes, expand creative capacity, or enhance critical thinking, it’s essential to step beyond the predictable and dissolve toxic and limited thoughts. It’s beneficial to seek new locations outside of one’s comfort zone (neighborhood) and experience the unfamiliar, be exposed to worldly knowledge, and begin to watch and listen to those with a better understanding or a more contemporary view of urban development and how to draw like-minded people to a table where everyone is invited.
Take heed, this concept isn’t about abandoning your hometown—it’s about refusing to let it be your only frame of reference and helping to enlighten those suffering from a myopic view of how and what things should be in your chosen community. With new generations of
individuals possessing refreshing views of “What could be” flooding into what were once idle and overlooked areas, begging for attention, an effort to block the natural progression of change is to vilify the influx of new faces.
Oddly, for what appear to be political reasons, the benefits of upgrading neighborhoods are absent from conversations. The narrative is weighed down by false representations that overlook the numerous benefits new blood offers. Labeled disastrous, Gentrification can revitalize neglected areas of a city by attracting investment, reducing crime, and improving infrastructure. While critics cite displacement and cultural loss, thoughtful planning can strike a balance between renewal and equity, ensuring that communities benefit from safer streets, rising property values, enhanced services, and improved educational opportunities. However, with new arrivals, many who are self-sufficient and not needing taxpayer funds might not always agree with continuing on the path of “We’ve always done it this way,” and will make their voices heard for a change in direction.
“The people around you are more than companions— they are architects of your personality.”
Changing Your Scene Will Change Your Mind
CITY-LEVEL SHIFTS
Cambridge researchers studied nearly two million U.S. residents across 199 cities and found that areas undergoing cultural growth—through arts, education, or diverse new businesses—correlated with measurable increases in residents’ openness, curiosity, and creativity.1 Environments infused with fresh ideas subtly rewire personality over time, leading to a change in attitudes. However, it must be organically grown, for the purpose of continuously leveling up, rather than looking at ‘what is’ and accepting a lesser degree of satisfaction by settling on the lowest common denominator. It’s at this point that recognition becomes an effective influence, promoting continued development with the hope of reaching the next tier by increasing visibility and appealing identity.
CONTEXTUAL PERSONALITY STATES
Stanford psychologists, using realtime experience sampling, found that people reported greater extroversion, openness, and emotional stability in socially and creatively stimulating spaces away from home than they did in familiar surroundings. 2 Different settings can awaken traits that remain stagnant in routine environments. Furthermore, neighborhood effects involving longitudinal studies have shown that communities rich in cultural exchange and social cohesion foster traits such as agreeableness, conscientiousness, and adaptability.3 Even small shifts, such as attending a lecture, exploring a new neighborhood, or participating in a cultural event away from home base, can have a significant impact on self-awareness.
SOCIAL NETWORKS AS CATALYSTS
The people we spend time with shape our behavior, thinking, and selfperception.4 Surrounding yourself with diverse, creative, and aspirational peers rewires your social lens, giving you a broader frame of reference for decisionmaking and innovation. Such intent could
mean expanding your social network and becoming one of those people who thrive for adventure outside city gates.
BECOMING MORE “WORLDLY” WITHOUT CROSSING AN OCEAN
You don’t need a passport to cultivate a broader worldview. Growth can happen if you intentionally seek out the unfamiliar. Research indicates that engaging with creative districts and neighborhoods affluent in cultural capital, featuring live performance venues, galleries, and independent cafés, stimulates curiosity and broadens perspectives.1 Also, consider expanding your social circles by reaching out to new networks.
EXPANDING SOCIAL CIRCLES
Seeking connections outside your usual network, even adding a few “weak ties” (relationships without deep personal history), can transform your outlook.4
TESTING NEW SOCIAL MIRRORS
The “looking-glass self” theory suggests that our self-image is shaped by how we believe others perceive us.5 New social contexts, such as design workshops, debate groups, or innovation labs, offer fresh mirrors that can shift perceptions of internal strengths and potential.
PERSONALITY CHANGE AND SOCIAL RISK
Mutable Traits are a novel concept. Never-visited environments can measurably
enhance openness, confidence, and flexibility.1,2 Even brief immersion in new surroundings can enhance creativity and foster openness to new ideas.
LOWERING THE INHIBITION BARRIER
Unfamiliar settings make it easier to take social risks; they trigger dopamine release, which improves motivation, learning, and emotional resilience.4,6
DIFFERENT PATHS, SAME DESTINATION
Women often integrate through relationship-building and empathy, while men may adapt via skill mastery or goal-oriented action.6 Both approaches expand worldview and self-efficacy; they need to be put into action; it’s known as teamwork.
To conclude, growth doesn’t depend on geography; it’s about sharing. By stepping outside familiar patterns, embracing new places, and engaging with different people, you will create a personal space where resilience and creativity can thrive. The world doesn’t expand due to distance, but by difference—it begins in the spot where you’re standing and an openness to arriving where you want to be in the future. H

CROSSING THE
BY STEVEN CHAN AND LEX MARLOWE
It was only a matter of time before artificial intelligence moved from answering our questions to satisfying our needs. For many, the idea of a machine offering comfort, affection, or even passion still feels like the plot of a futuristic film. But for those who have spent years navigating the modern dating landscape, where expectations between the sexes keep shifting, and traditional roles are constantly being rewritten, the lure of an AI companion is not far-fetched. What pushes this technology forward isn’t just curiosity or convenience—it’s human sexuality. Whether you agree or not, it’s common knowledge that the adult entertainment industry has often been the vanguard of technological adaptation to our deepest desires. From glossy magazines and seedy theaters to VHS tapes and live streaming, we are now moving toward lifelike robotics and immersive digital experiences.
There was a time when the thought of forming a romantic or sexual connection with a machine was the realm of science fiction; now, it’s quietly becoming a technological fact and is used by many. The leap from a voice assistant scheduling your appointments to a device capable of learning your emotional triggers has been uncanny. It was only a few years ago that conversational AI, such as ChatGPT, demonstrated its ability to mimic human dialogue with remarkable nuance. Developers quickly realized that with memory and personalization, these systems could learn your humor, recall your preferences, and adapt to your moods. Some people, often unintentionally, have developed emotional bonds with these “digital companions,” and report satisfaction and a viable cure for loneliness. But, beyond

these understandable claims of improvements to their quality of life, others openly confessed to falling in love with AI partners. These relationships, if we can call them that, lack the complexity of human-to-human intimacy, but they are still able to spark genuine feelings of attachment. It’s at this junction that the ethics of the connection begin to knot. Machines are extremely capable of simulating empathy, but they don’t feel; they offer comfort, but are unable to share in vulnerability. Unregulated and unmonitored, the interactions leading to dependency raise questions about consent, reliance, and the erosion of interpersonal skills that can be devastating if a screen partner is removed from the relationship—no different than a human breakup or separation.
THE MANY FACES OF INTIMACY
We tend to treat intimacy as shorthand for sex, but that’s a narrow view. True romance stretches across physical, emotional, intellectual, and even spiritual planes. It’s the warmth of someone remembering your most minor quirks, the thrill of a shared secret, and finding comfort in silence that feels full instead of empty. Because we are wired for connection, our brains release oxytocin when we touch, laugh, or even engage in deep conversation. Relationships are built through a mix of shared experience, trust, and the slow unspooling of one’s private self to another. However, in a world where screens increasingly mediate social interactions, some find themselves craving the feeling without knowing how to establish a genuine interpersonal bond.
For singles, especially those navigating midlife or later years, the challenge can be twofold: fewer opportunities for organic social connection, and a dating culture that often prizes novelty
over depth. Add to the complexity, gendered realities of modern dating—where women may be more selective due to safety and compatibility concerns, and men may struggle with rejection or emotional expression—it’s no wonder people have begun looking elsewhere for companionship, sometimes, a strong attachment.
Enter, AI. Promising the parts of intimacy people long for without the friction, the security can be pretty satisfying. A bot won’t ghost you, nor will they cast judgment. It will be available on your schedule, attuned to your tastes, and forgiving of your flaws. It’s easy to see the appeal—and just as simple to miss the potential costs to independence through the loss of critical thinking, humanitarian traits, and learned behaviors, all of which give us a top ranking in the animal kingdom.
LOVE: THE SCIENCE AND PSYCHOLOGY OF EMOTIONS
Psychologists have long studied attachment theory, which categorizes how people form bonds based on early caregiving experiences. Those with a secure attachment style find it easier to trust and be vulnerable, while those with anxious or avoidant patterns may struggle with closeness due to the fear of rejection.
Another factor involved in attachment is related to the chemicals produced within our brains. Oxytocin, often referred to as the “bonding hormone,” floods our system during touch, shared laughter, or moments of vulnerability, forging a physical sense of closeness. Meanwhile, dopamine rewards pleasurable interactions, while serotonin helps regulate mood and emotional balance. Finally, cortisol, which signals stress—sometimes a threatening connection when chronic—creates a recipe for disconnection.
Astoundingly, AI companions can mimic this dance of vast movements; they can use memory to recall your favorite topics, respond empathetically, and even “comfort” you with well-crafted words; all the time, they don’t feel oxytocin or dopamine, but

have become trained to be experts at simulating understanding and react without the biological sharing that makes human intimacy so rich and unpredictable. Obvious to a spectator, one-sided intimacy creates a paradox: the brain reacts as if the connection is mutual, while the machine remains indifferent; it is best described as a mirror without a soul.
SHIFTING CULTURAL LANDSCAPES IN DATING
The dating world is in constant flux, shaped by economic shifts, the evolution of gender roles, and the relentless invasion of technology. Women’s growing financial independence has redrawn traditional power balances, sometimes easing old constraints, other times introducing new expectations and anxieties.
Dating apps have revolutionized access to partners, but not always intimacy. The pleasure one seeks too often leads to the “paradox of choice,” referring to the phenomenon where endless options can feel risky and exhausting, swipes become fleeting judgments, conversations turn shallow, emotional fatigue sets in, and participants become addicted to the concept of Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO) in making a choice linked to the idea of hypergamy where one reaches for the best possible option, but never find commitment.
Another issue facing those in the dating market is rooted in transactional dynamics. A person’s wealth and lifestyle are routinely used to measure the viability of a potential partner—an observation that applies across all genders, with no exceptions. This self-imposed expectation is modulating to a more open playing field. (See SOCO, August 2025: “May-December Relationships: Why It’s Time We Move On”). Meanwhile, younger generations report feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to present themselves as perfect online while simultaneously battling loneliness offline; never has a younger generation in their prime been subject to such intense scrutiny. In this turbulent environment, AI offers a predictable partner who won’t disappoint or judge. For many, that is an irresistible balm that soothes emotional wounds.
A ROAD TOO FAR?
AI companionship has grown beyond simple chatbots. Today’s AI partners come with voices, avatars, and even physical embodiments. Companies are developing humanoid robots with touch-sensitive skin and emotional responsiveness. Virtual reality lets users inhabit shared spaces with digital partners that look, move, and even “feel” present.
These advances open doors—but also Pandora’s boxes. Questions arise: What does consent mean when the “other” is programmed to comply? And how do we balance emotional dependency on a non-human entity? To extrapolate further, will AI ever truly understand or reciprocate the vulnerability at the heart of intimacy?
Researchers have begun exploring these questions. Early studies indicate that while some users find AI companionship genuinely helpful—especially those isolated by health or circumstance— there is a risk of reduced motivation to seek human connection. At the same time, emotional dependency on AI can become exaggerated and mimic unhealthy patterns of behavior.
In reality, it may become a complex recipe that incorporates AI as the primary ingredient, either as a tool, a refuge, or, for better or worse, a substitute for organic intimacy. All in all, it’s looking like a path of dollars sprinkled like breadcrumbs.
ETHICAL AND SOCIETAL IMPLICATIONS
The rise of AI intimacy technology brings a host of ethical dilemmas. Privacy is paramount; these systems gather detailed data on users’ emotional states, preferences, and even sexual proclivities. Without robust protections, this sensitive data could be exploited for profit through targeted marketing efforts or hacked, leading to manipulation, extortion, or blackmail. It is the last bastion of personal privacy to erode.
Moreover, there is concern that AI companionship could exacerbate societal loneliness. While it offers a refuge for those shut out of social spheres, it could also become a crutch, discouraging people from taking the risks necessary for genuine human relationships that bring authentic psychological and physiological responses.
Lastly, commercial interests loom large. Many AI companies rely on user engagement to drive advertising revenue, potentially incentivizing designs that foster dependency rather than wellbeing. The line between support and exploitation may be thinner than many realize, and once traveling down that path, there’s no turning back.
THE FUTURE(S)
Looking ahead, several options present themselves:
Integration: AI companions could become accepted parts of the social fabric, akin to dating apps or therapy, where they complement rather than replace human relationships, providing comfort when needed without supplanting genuine connection. This option undoubtedly will be the focus for those seeking sexual satisfaction as a single person or inquisitive couples.
Substitution: a sizable subset that embraces AI partnerships, reshaping cultural norms, laws, and definitions of family. The emotional, social, and legal frameworks are adapting to this new reality, with AI “spouses” and digital kin becoming increasingly normalized, albeit with some degree of apprehension among most of society.
Rejection: Growing awareness of risks leads to social pushback and regulatory controls. AI intimacy tech is either restricted or banned, while society redoubles its efforts to foster human-tohuman bonds through community awareness and technology that prioritizes presence over simulation.
In reality, it may become a complex recipe that incorporates AI as the primary ingredient, either as a tool, a refuge, or, for better or worse, a substitute for organic intimacy. All in all, it’s looking like a path of dollars sprinkled like breadcrumbs.
CLOSING OUT
Intimacy, or more specifically, relationships, are complex, unpredictable, and deeply entwined with being human. Their essence is built upon vulnerability, shared history, and mutual growth. Although AI can simulate many of these variables, it cannot replicate the biochemical symphony and existential exchange that define human connection, nor can it serve as a substitute for the human condition.
As we cross the threshold into a future where digital and flesh-and-blood relationships intertwine, we must tread carefully. Embracing AI’s potential to ease loneliness and enrich lives is essential—but so is preserving the raw, imperfect beauty of human intimacy that has sustained us through millennia. H
The Great Exchange:
OPPORTUNITY, OVERLOAD & BUILDING WEALTH
BY STEVEN CHAN & LEX MARLOWE
Within the next two decades, the financial world will experience something it has never seen before. Analysts estimate that more than $84 trillion will pass from Baby Boomers to their heirs and philanthropic causes by 2045.1 This staggering transfer of capital is a force that will reshape investment patterns, pressure valuations, and test the wisdom of those who inherit years of investments made by previous generations.
For families with means, it’s a oncein-a-lifetime chance to create lasting prosperity—or watch it evaporate in a haze of inexperience and excess. The wealth is coming; the question on many minds is who will steer it, and how.
A TSUNAMI IN THE MAKING
Baby Boomers hold over half of all U.S. wealth, thanks to decades of rising home values, equity growth, and entrepreneurial gains.2 As this generation ages, those assets will flow to younger generations—many of whom have never managed sums of this magnitude. This transfer will arrive in waves, each impacting markets differently, and the first destinations are easy to predict.
The Familar: Real Estate, Stocks, and Institutional Funds. Large sums tend to
seek familiar channels first, including real estate. From Aspen ski chalets to Manhattan penthouses, prime property markets may heat up. Inheritance-fueled buying could push already-expensive areas to new highs, risking pockets of overvaluation.
Equity Markets. With certainty, inflows into stocks, especially index-tracking ETFs and blue-chip holdings, are the usual paths, but as Morgan Stanley warns, buying strong companies at inflated valuations can erode long-term returns.3
Institutionally managed products, such as mutual funds and balanced portfolios, will naturally remain the default for many inexperienced investors. Yet massive inflows could make even “safe” havens more expensive than fundamentals justify.
Beyond the mainstream, new wealth will be attracted to digital and alternative
options, including art, collectables, and precious metals.
While traditional assets are likely to remain dominant, younger, digitally native heirs are expected to invest heavily in cryptocurrency and blockchain. Bitcoin and Ethereum are likely to attract large allocations for the ideological and speculative who have a high tolerance for risk. Early investors have seen astronomical gains, but volatility is brutal; Bitcoin lost nearly 75 percent of its value from November 2021 to November 2022,4 and a similar decline could occur again.
Private Equity & Venture Capital.
These private markets are projected to surpass $18 trillion by 2028.5 Success requires discipline; speculative bets without due diligence can quickly erase fortunes. Money invested here without experience will be reminiscent of the Gold Rush.
Inexperience and a taste for the good life, percolated by the faux displays of how the so-called rich live, found on social media, is a disaster waiting to snare unwitting victims. The most significant risk to newfound wealth is not market volatility—it’s human behavior, combined with a desire for expensive experiences, often paid for with unearned funds, and fueled by ignorance; this phenomenon is known as ‘lifestyle inflation.’
Avoidance or fear of being involved in how one’s inheritance is invested, frequently

delegated to an expert with whom you may lunch once a year, is more common than some would believe. Yes, on paper, watching a portfolio increase is satisfying, but leaving final investment strategies and high fees to be directed by a firm that has a vested interest in the equation should raise concerns and prompt a review of its action plan.
History is full of examples: Cornelius Vanderbilt’s vast fortune largely vanished within generations due to poor management.
Conversely, the ‘I know better’ approach serves a host of other concerns when appreciating assets are involved; research shows retail investors underperform market indices by 3-4 percent annually due to emotional decisions.6 After taxes, the returns can be discouragingly surprising.
To increase the chance of preserving your family’s wealth and avoid the collapse of your legacy, follow proven steps that oldmoney families have practiced for over a century; design a Multi-Generational Four-Pillar Investment Strategy.
Education Before Allocation –Financial literacy directly correlates with the longevity of wealth7
Structured Governance –Trusts, family councils, and holding companies provide guardrails.
Purpose-Driven Investing –
Aligning Capital with Mission Creates Stability.
Intelligent Diversification –
Balance traditional assets with measured alternative exposure.
And one other wise suggestion; don’t spend more than you earn. Also, never dip into principal; instead, use earned income. Better yet, consider borrowing from a family office or other financial structure and forgo a salary. (For more information, contact a reputable investment professional, who can explain this concept in greater detail.)
MARKET DISTORTIONS
At some point during your financial journey or that of your heirs, unprecedented liquidity will intersect with macroeconomic forces, including interest rate changes, geopolitical events, and technological disruptions. These actions could mean that inflated luxury real estate, facing sudden rate hikes, or crypto rallies ending
in regulatory crackdowns, will be cause for concern. For the prepared, volatility is opportunity; for the unprepared, it’s ruinous.
WHY PRUDENCE WINS
Restraint often outperforms aggression. Enduring wealth is built on discipline and strategic risk-taking—not chasing every hot trend. The most successful families use liquidity to act smarter, not faster.
FINAL WORD: BUILDING CHANNELS, NOT DAMS
Capital, like water, is most potent when directed; those who create structured channels for wealth will sustain it across generations when their windfall appears. As for others, some will end up treading water while engulfed in their newfound wealth, until it runs dry. H

Unpacking the Publicity Surrounding the Latest Anti-Aging Trend
It’s touted by influencers with large followings, including Hailey and Justin Bieber, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kendall Jenner, biohacker Ben Greenfield, and Joe Rogan, among others.
Jennifer Aniston, who has praised her weekly IV infusions with the molecule for its beauty and wellness benefits, called it “the future” in a 2023 interview with The Wall Street Journal.
These celebrities say that taking NAD+ helps them stay energetic and vibrant, keeps their youthful appearance by reducing visible signs of aging, improves mental clarity, enhances cognition and focus, and accelerataes exercise recovery. With their endorsement, NAD+ has now captured mainstream attention, as more people seek ways to support their health and vitality as they age.
According to Global Growth Insights, the global market for NAD+ is expected to reach nearly $630 million in 2025 and surpass $2 billion by 2033.
The enthusiasm may be justified.
ABOUT NAD+
Short for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, NAD+ is as critical to the body as oxygen.
NAD+ is a coenzyme made from vitamin B3 (niacin) that’s found in every cell. It is essential for supporting key biochemical reactions, healthy metabolism, and cellular function. NAD+ helps turn calories from food into usable energy by powering the mitochondria in our cells to generate ATP (adenosine
triphosphate). It also supports everyday DNA repair and other cellular housekeeping duties vital to long-term cellular health.
Though they didn’t know what it was, NAD+ was discovered serendipitously in 1906 when British scientists studying beer saw that sugar fermented into alcohol more quickly in the presence of boiled yeast extract.
NAD+ would later be identified in the 1930s and officially recognized as a critical factor in energy metabolism and DNA repair by the 1950s.
More recently, preclinical studies of NAD+ using animal models have shown promise for faster recovery from exercise, improved cognitive function, protection against age-related mental decline, reduced signs of aging, and an extended lifespan.
Research also shows that NAD+ levels decline significantly with age. Levels peak in the early 20s but can fall as much as 50 percent by age 50. Fatigue, brain fog, slower recovery, and other age-related signs are believed to result. 2
Such discoveries have sparked interest in supplementation, with the expectation of improved energy and metabolic function, cellular support, and anti-aging effects, including more youthful skin and enhanced mental sharpness.
In the energy production cycle, NAD+ accepts electrons and hydrogen to form NADH, then donates electrons as it reverts to NAD+. Both forms are found as dietary supplements. However, NAD+ precursors nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and nicotinamide riboside (NR) are often considered more absorbable than NAD+ and NADH, and have been shown to increase NAD+ levels in the body.
THE ‘MIRACLE’ NUTRIENT FOR AGING?
NAD+ has become a hot topic in aging research. Harvard’s David Sinclair, M.D., has been at the forefront of this topic. Early on, he helped discover that NAD+ levels decline steadily as we age, leading to altered metabolism and reduced disease resistance. NAD+ levels fluctuate in response to changes in food consumption, exercise, and the time of day. Restoring levels promotes health and longer life in old or diseased rodents and other animals.
Sinclair discovered that NAD+ energizes sirtuins, a class of proteins that help cells regulate stress, inflammation, and gene expression.
Reviewing early human trials of oral NAD+ boosters, Sinclair and team outline a host of benefits from niacin: lower total and LDL cholesterol, enhanced kidney function after injury, lower risk of heart attack and stroke, faster recovery from schizophrenia, slower cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s, and more. NR, meanwhile, raised NAD+ blood levels, with no adverse effects. Quercetin may also help raise NAD+ levels, while being shown to lower LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, BMI, and waistline.3
In a more recent review of human trials, they explain that NR and NMN taken orally raised NAD+ levels significantly and steadily after 10 days, roughly replenishing what was lost due to aging.4 Research has shown, for example, that NMN supplementation improves insulin action in prediabetic women and increases physical performance while lowering biological age in middleaged adults. In overweight, middle-aged adults, two grams/ day of MIB-626, a form of NMN, safely raised NAD+ levels and significantly lowered LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, body weight, and blood pressure. In older adults, 250 mg/day of NMN
in the afternoon improved leg strength via sit-to-stand ability and reduced drowsiness. In healthy adults, NR supplementation increased NAD+ levels in neuron structures and reduced amyloid protein associated with Alzheimer’s.4
Investigators in Brazil examined the safety and effectiveness of NAD+ precursor and NADH supplements. Analyzing 10 studies with 489 total participants, covering different conditions like overweight, older age, and chronic fatigue, they found that NADH and precursor supplements were well-tolerated. Example results were lower anxiety and max heart rate following stress testing, improved muscle insulin sensitivity and insulin signaling, and less inflammation. Side effects were seen in all studies; most common were muscle pain, nervous disorders, sleep disturbance, fatigue, and headaches. None posed a serious health risk.5
The authors consider oral NADH safe, with low side effect incidence, and linked to improved quality of life and health.5
Wrote Sinclair and colleagues in 2018: “It is exciting to imagine an NAD+ booster being tested in humans for the ability to increase vitality, reduce all causes of mortality, and extend healthy lifespan. If that happens, more than the discoverers of NAD+ could ever have imagined, NAD+ would truly be the molecule of life.”3
LIMITATIONS, SAFETY, DOSING
Scientists point out that age is a primary risk factor for many chronic disorders and this risk is increasing as populations age. But with research in humans a work in progress, they say it’s still unclear whether boosting NAD+ levels can truly enhance physiological function and impact aging and disease as it does in animals.6
Oral NAD+-boosting supplements have been found safe, tolerable, and appear to raise NAD+ tissue levels in older adults. However, many studies haven’t provided evidence that oral NAD+-boosting supplements like NMN and NR increase NAD+.6 Further, there’s a knowledge gap in how these precursors are metabolized and a lack of standardization in how they’re analyzed.6
There’s also much study variation in dosing and duration, along with small sample sizes, which limits how the data can
be interpreted. For example, one study found it was safe and well-tolerated for 31 healthy men and women, aged 20-65, taking 1,250 mg/day of NMN for four weeks. All tests, including vital signs, body composition, and factors such as cholesterol, remained unchanged. Yet, blood or urine levels of NAD+ weren’t measured, leaving its effectiveness in question.6
Additionally, experts say more research is needed to determine conditions to target, figure out which method of raising NAD+ levels is best, and to compare supplementation against standard care for those conditions, as well as against other ways of raising NAD+ levels like diet and exercise programming tailored to older people. NADH’s specific disease benefits and best dosage also need to be determined.7
That said, NR is a more popular choice for supplementation since it’s more easily absorbed by cells than NMN, is backed by more human research, and is more widely available and often less pricey. Typical NR dosing is 300-600 mg/day. (Always consult a healthcare provider before starting any supplement program.)
While NR and NMN have the best safety record in human trials, boosting NAD+ could potentially allow inflammatory cells to survive. To combat this, experts advise coupling NR or NMN with senolytics like quercetin. It’s also helpful to take periodic breaks from supplements.
NAD+ LIFESTYLE
It’s wise to support the body’s natural production of NAD+ as much as possible, regardless of supplementation.
Regular exercise supports NAD+ production, especially HIIT
(high-intensity interval training) and resistance training which stimulate mitochondrial activity, boosting NAD+.
Good eating habits are essential. Include foods rich in niacin, like poultry, salmon, eggs, dairy, legumes (peanuts, seeds), and whole grains. Intermittent fasting can activate sirtuins, for example, while promoting cellular recycling and repair.
Avoiding unhealthy habits that can reduce NAD+ levels, such as chronic sleep deprivation, excessive alcohol, and processed foods.
Stress reduction is important, as through quality sleep and meditation, since chronic stress can deplete NAD+.
Moderate sunlight exposure can activate NAD+ repair enzymes, though overexposure can deplete NAD+ through DNA damage.
Heat and cold exposure (sauna and cold shower, for example) can also help boost NAD+ by stimulating mitochondria.
Perhaps there is a Fountain of Youth in our futures. H

AA Side Of Cape Cod You Haven’t Seen Before
gripping drama that first premiered on Starz in 2020, Hightown, written and created by Rebecca Cutter. Though it ran for three seasons through 2024, the series only recently discovered a local audience after its release on Netflix in July 2025, when it quickly broke into the platform’s Top 10. Yet, despite its national recognition, it remains a hidden gem for many on the SouthCoast of Massachusetts and Cape Cod—even though its story is set squarely in their backyards. For local audiences, the show carries a familiar flavor, drawing in towns such as Bourne, Wareham, New Bedford, Fall River, and Hyannis. Yet, it still manages to feel fresh and universal in its storytelling.
At its heart, Hightown is anchored by a powerful performance from Monica Raymund, who plays Jackie Quiñones, a fisheries officer whose struggles with addiction and identity place her at the crossroads of a grisly murder and a dangerous drug trade. Raymund’s portrayal has been widely praised for its honesty and depth; she brings a mix of grit, vulnerability, and resilience that gives the series its emotional weight. Surrounding her is a strong ensemble of actors representing a diverse cross-section of Cape Cod society, including law enforcement, fishermen, working-class families, the LGBTQ+ community, and vacationers found in the well-known resort community. This inclusivity gives the drama a human dimension, reflecting the many layers of life along the Massachusetts coast.
The show excels at balancing tense, high-stakes events with authentic personal stories. Its backdrop—the tourist-friendly but often complicated Cape—serves as more than a setting; it’s a character in itself. While many of the on-screen locations are filmed elsewhere and serve as stand-ins for Provincetown and the South Coast towns, which are sometimes portrayed as more luxurious than they actually are, the production successfully captures the moody,
wind-swept spirit of the region. That choice keeps the atmosphere intact without becoming a literal postcard version of the Cape. The result is a landscape that feels familiar and heightened, lending itself well to the show’s noirish tone.
Part of what makes Hightown compelling is its layered storytelling. Without giving away plot details, it weaves together themes of betrayal, redemption, community, and survival with a steady pace that holds the viewer’s interest. The writing is taut and suspenseful, never losing sight of the humanity at the core of its characters. Each episode draws the audience deeper into the world, creating the kind of slow-burning drama that rewards patience and attentive viewing; it’s worth binge-watching.
For all its strengths, Hightown has been somewhat overlooked until Netflix gave it a second life. Sparking new interest and drawing in a fresh crop of viewers, residents of Cape Cod and the SouthCoast can’t stop talking about how uniquely engaging the series is and the excitement they experience when seeing their towns featured in a major entertainment venue, referencing their coastal identities in a polished, nationally distributed production.
Ultimately, Hightown is more than a riveting story. It is a drama about people and their complexities. It also challenges the way different communities intersect in a place that is both picturesque and troubled. The series delivers strong acting, a compelling narrative, and an authentic atmosphere that captures the spirit of Cape Cod while still appealing to a global audience. By highlighting personalities from all stations of life and weaving their stories into a broader tapestry, the drama offers insight and feelings specific to Massachusetts. Still, it will resonate with those interested in human stories shaped by place, conflict, and resolve.
Hightown is well worth adding to your watchlist—and once started, it’s the kind of drama that’s difficult to step away from because its authenticity is unchallenged. H

AHOY, IT’S TIME TO BUY A BOAT OR, DREAM ABOUT OWNING ONE
It’s September, and like clockwork, the Newport International Boat Show has arrived. The fleet of every size and description will be on display from September 11 to 14, a perfect fit for the city’s waterfront. The annual show attracts seasoned sailors, those thinking about being on the water next year, and, of course, the social butterflies strolling from pier to pier.
Under the tents, visitors will be in awe over the number of booths displaying the best ‘must-have’ marine products and services, even if they aren’t setting sail. It is truly remarkable how the marine industry continually designs and creates products that everyone can use. The 17-acre site is loaded with marine exhibits, equipment, and accessories, but what really keeps the crowd focused is the in-water displays.
General Admission is $32 per person (plus fees) when purchased in advance and online (Friday to Saturday). Preview tickets for Thursday, September 11, are $42 (plus fees). Then there’s the premium package; the exclusive Windward VIP Lounge Pass provides access with added amenities, including an open bar, gourmet food, stunning views, and private restroom facilities. The cost of this upgrade is $287 (plus fees). Please note that
refunds and exchanges are not available after purchase.
Finally, an issue not to overlook is parking. Your best bet is to head over to Easton’s Beach and scoop up a parking pass for $42 (plus fees). Taking this route will save you from a $60+ ticket; plus, a free shuttle is available to and from the show from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
See you at the dock. H
HOW THINGS HAVE CHANGED; AND, NOT FOR THE BETTER
New York Fashion Week is an event that has always been shrouded in exclusivity and what some would call privilege. It served a purpose, and its evolution from an industry-only event to a public spectacle has changed the industry entirely. The once-hallowed tents of Bryant Park and the prestigious halls of Lincoln Center, a sanctum for the fashion elite (albeit thousands of them), supermodels, celebrities, and top-tier media fortunate to make the cut for the coveted invitations, no longer view the shows as relevant as they once were. With the introduction of non-professional journalists and camera phones to shoot and write about the runways, interest had dwindled and lost its luster.
The business model has changed, as has the oversight. While the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) schedule remains by invitation, the public can now purchase a ticket to the show. For the newbie, it gives them a degree of excitement and something to post on their social media, which has contributed to a decline in the event’s appeal. At the same time, democratization has proven effective in showcasing emerging designers, enabling them to build a fan base and generate buzz in real-time. Doubtful, any lasting careers will be built, most will end up as most things do in our disposable society.
Still excited to spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, on about 4-6 minutes of bright lights and fantasy? Get your tickets today at thebureaufashionweek.com. H
