Our materials are designed to support the effective delivery of the CAPS curriculum while providing additional tools and resources to help shape well-rounded and future-ready learners. While our materials are aligned with the CAPS curriculum, we’ve enriched our offerings to better meet the needs of today’s learners by integrating the latest educational priorities. This reflects our commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible, engaging, and forward-thinking learning environment. Below are some key enhancements that we have incorporated in our books.
1. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
We believe in creating an equitable learning environment that values the diversity of every learner. Our resources are designed to ensure that all learners, regardless of their background or ability, can access quality education and feel supported throughout their learning journey. By prioritising DEI, we are empowering learners to develop a strong sense of identity and respect for others.
2. Computational skills and 21st century skills
Preparing learners for the future means equipping them with the essential skills needed in the modern world. Our resources are infused with critical 21st-century skills such as creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and digital literacy. The aim is to encourage learners to communicate, work together, think creatively, and solve problems. These skills ensure that learners are not only knowledgeable but also capable of applying their learning in real-world situations.
Computational thinking skills include decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction and algorithmic design, which help learners build problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
3. Language across the curriculum
Language proficiency is not just important in language subjects – it is vital across all areas of learning. Our resources support language development in every subject, helping learners enhance their literacy skills, improve comprehension, and communicate effectively in diverse contexts. This cross-curricular approach ensures learners gain fluency that goes beyond just one subject area. This supports learners to improve comprehension across subjects and helps them understand subject-specific terminology in mathematics, life skills, coding and robotics, and other disciplines, therefore reducing barriers to learning caused by language difficulties. Research shows that strong language skills lead to better comprehension, retention and performance across all subjects and reduces dropout rates by ensuring that learners can understand and engage with the curriculum.
4. Alignment with DBE workbooks
In alignment with the Department of Basic Education’s (DBE) workbooks, our resources complement and reinforce the prescribed DBE workbooks. This alignment enhances the learning experience for both educators and learners while maintaining national education standards. It also ensures consistency and a smooth progression through the curriculum.
5. Alignment with EGRA and National Reading Benchmarks
Reading is foundational to all learning, and we have aligned our resources with the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) and National Reading Benchmarks. These benchmarks allow for the early identification of literacy gaps, enabling targeted interventions to improve reading skills from a young age. Our materials are designed to help learners reach and exceed these national standards, ensuring strong literacy development.
6. Teaching maths for understanding
Our materials focus on ensuring that learners develop deep conceptual knowledge, problemsolving skills, and the ability to apply mathematical concepts in real-world contexts. This approach moves beyond rote memorisation to foster critical thinking and reasoning in mathematics. It enables learners to grasp mathematical concepts deeply and apply them in practical, real-world contexts. By focusing on comprehension, we aim to foster a generation of learners who can think critically and solve complex problems.
7. Alignment to Revised Annual Teaching Plans
Each course is fully aligned to the CAPS curriculum. In the Teacher’s Guide, at the beginning of each week there is a list of all the CAPS content, concepts and skills covered for life skills. This helps teachers check that their work schedule corresponds with the Revised Annual Teaching Plan (RATP) laid out by the Department of Basic Education which provides educators direction on how to implement the minimal core content and skills that need to be taught.
Please feel free to reach out if you need any further information or support.
