IN CONTEMPORARY PORTUGUESE

WINEMAKING, FEW PROJECTS ARE SHAPED AS CLEARLY BY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY AS MÁRCIO LOPES

WINEMAKER. BUILT ON A DIRECT RELATIONSHIP WITH VINEYARDS AND A RESTRAINED APPROACH TO INTERVENTION, THE BRAND REPRESENTS A FOCUSED INTERPRETATION OF WINE AS AN AGRICULTURAL, CULTURAL, AND HUMAN EXPRESSION. THIS POSITIONING HAS BEEN FURTHER VALIDATED THROUGH RECOGNITION WITHIN THE TOP 100 BY LUXURY LIFESTYLE AWARDS, WHERE THE PROJECT WAS DISTINGUISHED AMONG THE TOP 100 PREMIUM WINE & SPIRITS BRANDS FOR 2025.

Rooted in Portugal, the Márcio Lopes Winemaker project operates primarily across the Vinho Verde and Douro regions. From the outset, the work has been defined by hands-on engagement with old vineyards and by a willingness to work with sites that demand patience rather than efficiency. The wines are not conceived to follow trends, but to reflect specific places, seasons, and decisions made in the vineyard.

A Philosophy Shaped By Vineyards

The foundation of the brand lies in the recovery and continued care of old and often overlooked plots. Rather than pursuing volume or uniformity, Márcio Lopes has focused on preserving the individuality of each vineyard. Many of these sites require manual work and close observation, reinforcing a production model where attention and continuity matter more than scale.

This philosophy translates into wines that emphasize structure, texture, and balance, without reliance on cosmetic intervention. The aim is not to impose a style, but to allow the vineyard to define the outcome. Over time, this approach has positioned the brand as a reference point for wines that value origin and agricultural integrity.

Minimal Intervention as a Working Method

Production under the Márcio Lopes Winemaker name is guided by minimal intervention principles. Fermentations are frequently

spontaneous, sulfur use is restrained, and some wines are produced without it altogether. Amphorae, traditional lagares, and extended skin contact are part of the working vocabulary, used when appropriate to the character of the fruit.

Organic practices are applied across much of the work, even where formal certification is not pursued. The focus remains on soil health, vine balance, and long-term sustainability of each site. These decisions are practical rather than declarative, shaped by observation and experience rather than doctrine.

Projects Rooted In Place

Since its establishment in 2010, the project has grown through clearly defined labels, including Pequenos Rebentos in Vinho Verdes and Proibido in the Douro. Each reflects a distinct landscape and set of conditions, while remaining aligned with the broader philosophy of restraint and clarity.

The acquisition of Quinta do Pombal in the Douro in 2015 marked an important step, enabling closer control over experimental vineyards and long-term development. The subsequent expansion into Ribeira Sacra, in Galicia, followed the same logic — small plots, demanding terrain, and an emphasis on proximity rather than distance in vineyard management. In 2024, the acquisition of Quinta do Malhô, also in the Douro, further strengthened this strategy by increasing production capacity and opening new perspectives for the development of products such as olive oil and Port wine.

Experience Beyond the Bottle

Beyond production, the brand offers guided visits to old vineyards, allowing visitors to understand the realities of site recovery, viticultural decision-making, and seasonal change. These

experiences are intentionally educational and grounded, focusing on process rather than performance.

Such initiatives reflect a broader view of wine as an ongoing relationship between land, producer, and audience. They reinforce the idea that value is created not only through finished bottles, but through transparency and shared understanding.

Recognition as Contextual Validation

In 2025, Márcio Lopes Winemaker was distinguished as one of the TOP 100 Premium Wine & Spirits Brands by Luxury Lifestyle Awards. Within the framework of the TOP 100, this recognition positions the project among brands that demonstrate consistency, clarity of vision, and relevance within the global premium wine and spirits landscape.

Rather than defining the story, the recognition functions as contextual validation of a path already established – one based on persistence, measured growth, and respect for inherited vineyards.

A Measured Vision for the Future

As the project continues to evolve, its direction remains anchored in practical ambition. New vineyard developments, selective releases, and continued experimentation are approached with the same caution that has shaped the brand to date. Progress is incremental, informed by observation and guided by responsibility toward land and people.

In a sector often driven by immediacy, Márcio Lopes Winemaker stands apart through continuity and intent, offering wines that speak quietly but with clarity about where they come from and how they are made.

NOWADAYS MONTES CONTINUES TO REPRESENT MASTERY, INNOVATION, AND AUTHENTICITYA NAME REVERED BY COLLECTORS AND CONNOISSEURS ALIKE.

An Iconic Portfolio Rooted in Consistency

For Montes, the vineyard is not merely the origin of the grape but the essence of the wine itself. The estate’s farming practices are guided by regenerative and sustainable principles, ensuring the long-term vitality of the land. Cover crops enrich the soil, natural composting enhances fertility, and biodiversity flourishes between the vines, promoting natural ecosystems. The result is wines that capture the soul of Chile’s landscapes while preserving their ecological balance. Montes’ reputation rests on its consistent ability to produce wines of depth and personality across every range.

In 2025, Montes Wines was selected by Luxury Lifestyle Awards as one of the TOP 100 Premium Wine & Spirits Brands of the World. This distinction celebrates the winery’s holistic approach.

Innovation Woven into Every Detail

Innovation has always shaped Montes’ character. The winery was among the first in Chile to implement gravity-flow winemaking, reducing the use of pumps, to preserve grape integrity and achieve softer extraction. Its Feng Shui–inspired design reflects a commitment to balance and energy, fostering an environment where creativity and calm coexist. Inside the barrel cellar, Gregorian chants fill the air as the wines rest, a ritual that symbolizes patience, harmony, and respect for time.

Sustainability as a Measure of Luxury

Montes’ vision extends beyond wine to encompass social and environmental responsibility. Its B Corp certification signifies adherence to the highest standards of sustainability and transparency, joining a global network of companies that combine success with purpose. From renewable energy initiatives to community engagement programs, Montes demonstrates that true luxury is not excess, but balance.

A Destination that Captures the Soul of Chile

Visitors can experience the spirit of Montes at its Finca de Apalta estate, where guided tours unveil the breathtaking vineyards and cellar, in which every architectural element supports the flow of energy and the pursuit of excellence. Tastings often include limited releases and aged vintages, offering an intimate encounter with the winery’s artistry. At the Fuegos de Apalta restaurant, celebrated chef Francis Mallmann presents open-fire cuisine paired with Montes’ finest labels, while the Montes Guest House provides an exclusive

retreat among the vines. The El Emporio del Ángel boutique offers exclusive wines, special editions, and handcrafted angel figurines — part of Montes’ commitment to the local community.

A Meaningful Presence

With a presence in over 100 countries, Montes has achieved rare global resonance. Its wines are celebrated in Asia’s sophisticated markets, particularly South Korea and Japan, and hold strong positions in the United States, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Each market reflects the same admiration for the brand’s authenticity, consistent quality, and emotional connection, hallmarks that have built enduring loyalty among fine wine enthusiasts worldwide.

The angel, present on every label, represents more than a symbol, it is the spiritual thread that unites Montes’ philosophy. It embodies protection, inspiration, and faith in a greater purpose; a guiding presence for the founders and a mark of trust for those who enjoy their wines. Every bottle carries the grace of Chile’s landscapes and the soul of those who dared to elevate wine into an art form.

USA WINE, FRIENDSHIP, AND THE SPIRIT OF SONOMA: THE STORY OF PAPAPIETRO PERRY WINERY

PAPAPIETRO PERRY WINERY HAS EARNED ITS PLACE AMONG THE TOP 100 PREMIUM WINE & SPIRITS BRANDS OF THE WORLD 2025, A RECOGNITION THAT HIGHLIGHTS ITS ENDURING INFLUENCE IN CALIFORNIA’S CELEBRATED WINE LANDSCAPE. HONORED BY LUXURY LIFESTYLE AWARDS, THE WINERY STANDS AS PROOF THAT HEART, HUMOR, AND HARD WORK CAN TRANSFORM A GARAGE PROJECT INTO A WORLD-CLASS LABEL. WITH EACH VINTAGE, PAPAPIETRO PERRY WINERY CAPTURES THE VERY ESSENCE OF SONOMA COUNTY’S TERROIR, DELIVERING WINES THAT SPEAK OF AUTHENTICITY AND CRAFTSMANSHIP BORN FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS.

From Garage to Greatness

The Papapietro Perry story begins not in a grand vineyard or hightech facility, but in a San Francisco garage. Inspired by the garagiste movement in Bordeaux, founders Ben and Yolanda Papapietro, alongside friends Bruce and Renae Perry, began making Pinot Noir for fun and friendship. What started as an after-hours experiment soon gained attention from Wine Spectator and other respected publications.

Word spread quickly: these wines were different, expressive, honest, and made with joy rather than formality. The small team’s approach, driven by curiosity and respect for the grape, set them apart from the beginning. Ben’s background in home winemaking and the couple’s willingness to take risks shaped the early vintages, while their playful yet precise style became their signature.

When the opportunity came to produce wine commercially at Windsor Oaks Winery in 2000, they took it, officially giving birth to Papapietro Perry Winery. From those early garage days to their modern facility in Dry Creek Valley, the team has stayed true to its roots: family-driven, laughter-filled, and always focused on letting the fruit tell its story.

A Sonoma Signature: Authentic, Not Pretentious

Located amid the rolling vineyards of Dry Creek Valley, the winery specializes in small-lot Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Rosé of Pinot Noir. Their approach to winemaking remains refreshingly

straightforward: minimal intervention, maximum character. “Authentic, not pretentious,” as Ben puts it, is more than a motto; it’s the guiding principle that defines the winery’s atmosphere and its wines alike.

Visitors stepping onto the winery’s extended patio are greeted by panoramic views of the valley and an ambiance that feels like being welcomed into a friend’s home. Seated tastings feature five distinctive wines, each guided by a knowledgeable host who brings the experience to life with warmth and storytelling. Guests can choose to complement their tasting with a local charcuterie board or Truffle Almond Chocolates crafted to pair with Pinot Noir.

It’s this thoughtful hospitality that sets the winery apart. Here, sophistication is approachable, laughter is encouraged, and good conversation flows as easily as the Pinot Noir.

The Art of Patience and Passion

For Ben and Bruce, wine has always been about patience and pleasure. In the early days, the team camped near the vineyards during harvest, working long hours and cooking under the stars, a lifestyle that embodied their devotion and spirit of camaraderie. Today, the process may take place in a more refined setting, but the ethos remains the same.

Each bottle is the result of attentive stewardship, from grape selection to barrel aging. The focus on single vineyard designates allows the winery to showcase the nuances of exceptional Sonoma County sites such as Peters Vineyard and Leras Family Vineyards. These wines reveal distinct layers, earthy, elegant, and bright, demonstrating the diversity of the region and the talent of those who transform its fruit into liquid art.

Papapietro Perry’s minimalist philosophy ensures that nothing distracts from the purity of the wine itself. The winemaking space may have grown far beyond the original garage, but its spirit is ever-present: simple, direct, and deeply personal.

A Family Affair That Welcomes All

More than a winery, Papapietro Perry is a gathering place for family, friends, and fellow wine lovers who appreciate authenticity over

pretense. Every visit reflects the founders’ belief that wine should be shared and celebrated, never overcomplicated.

Events at the winery continue that sense of community, from intimate tastings to seasonal celebrations that invite guests to experience the warmth of the Papapietro Perry family firsthand. The team’s genuine enthusiasm for both their craft and their guests creates a rare sense of connection, one that transforms visitors into lifelong fans.

Even after decades of success, the winery retains its original spirit, approachable, humble, and fueled by a love for great wine and good company. As Renae reflects, “The winery is an extension of our homes and personal hospitality.” That sentiment flows through every bottle, every laugh on the patio, and every story told over a shared glass.

Continuing a Legacy of Flavor and Friendship

The legacy of Papapietro Perry Winery is built not only on awardwinning wines but also on the relationships that sustain it. The founders’ humor and humility continue to inspire the next generation of winemakers and guests alike. Their philosophy, that wine is meant to be enjoyed, not idolized, has shaped a culture that celebrates flavor, friendship, and authenticity in every pour.

As the winery looks toward the future, its foundation remains strong: exceptional fruit, a deep respect for the land, and a welcoming atmosphere that turns first-time visitors into family. With a loyal following and an ever-growing reputation for producing wines of character and grace, Papapietro Perry Winery continues to raise the standard for genuine winemaking in Sonoma County and beyond.

Experience Near Perfection

For those seeking wines that speak to both heart and heritage, Papapietro Perry Winery offers something unforgettable, an experience shaped by passion, laughter, and time-honored skill. Whether you’re visiting Dry Creek Valley or exploring their collection online, every sip captures a story that began in a humble garage and continues to inspire today.

GEORGIA GUARDIANS OF GEORGIAN TERROIR: SHUMI WINERY & ESTATE’S GLOBAL DISTINCTION

IN GEORGIA’S STORIED KAKHETI REGION, CENTURIES OF VITICULTURAL KNOWLEDGE MEET CONTEMPORARY MASTERY AT SHUMI WINERY & ESTATE, A FAMILY-FOUNDED ESTATE THAT HAS HELPED DEFINE MODERN GEORGIAN WINE WHILE HONORING ITS ORIGINS. THIS LEGACY-DRIVEN PRODUCER HAS EARNED A PLACE AMONG THE TOP 100 PREMIUM WINE & SPIRITS BRANDS OF THE WORLD, A DISTINCTION PRESENTED BY LUXURY LIFESTYLE AWARDS THAT RECOGNIZES BRANDS SETTING INTERNATIONAL BENCHMARKS FOR QUALITY, AUTHENTICITY, AND INFLUENCE.

A Historic Landscape with Royal Roots

SHUMI’s vineyards sit within one of Georgia’s most culturally significant zones, bordering the National Park and Museum dedicated to Prince Alexander Chavchavadze. These lands were once shared by Georgian kings, national poets, and imperial figures, lending the estate a layered historical context that continues to inform its identity. Founded in 1997, SHUMI has built an impeccable reputation by producing wines and spirits that reflect both place and purpose, guided by a deep respect for Georgia’s eight-thousand-year winemaking heritage.

Precision Viticulture and Forward Thinking

The estate is widely recognized for its pioneering role in sustainable and scientific viticulture in Georgia. SHUMI was the first winery in the country to apply green harvesting, adopt organic and biodynamic cultivation, and introduce bio methods in vineyard management. In collaboration with the Free University of Brussels, SHUMI also pioneered by cultivating yeast sourced directly from the same terroirs where grapes were grown, an innovation that preserves microzone identity in every bottle.

Reviving the Rare and the Forgotten

A defining strength of SHUMI lies in its commitment to Georgian autochthonous grape varieties, particularly those once on the verge of extinction. Through years of research and propagation, the winery has

revived grapes such as Ubakluri, Simonaseuli, and Shavi Rkatsiteli, transforming them from archival references into living vineyards and commercial wines. This work is supported by SHUMI’s Comprehensive Varietal Collection Vineyard, regarded as the largest private vine collection in the world, featuring more than 2,000 varieties from 47 countries.

Patented Wines with No Global Counterpart

Innovation at SHUMI is not abstract. It is bottled. The portfolio includes patented creations with no global equivalents, including SHOBILI, a sparkling Qvevri wine that blends Georgian earthenware fermentation with classical sparkling techniques, and ZIGU, an aromatic fortified wine crafted from more than 350 rare grape varieties. Landmark releases such as GENESIS, produced from a three-hundred-year-old vine, and BARBALE, the world’s only ice wine made in Qvevri, demonstrate a rare balance of experimentation and discipline.

Global Recognition Through Consistent Excellence

SHUMI’s international standing is the result of sustained quality rather than isolated achievements. Across global markets, the estate’s wines and spirits are consistently selected by industry professionals, collectors, and hospitality leaders who value authenticity, technical precision, and originality. This long-term recognition reflects a disciplined approach that spans vineyard

management, production innovation, and portfolio curation, positioning SHUMI as a benchmark for Georgian winemaking on the world stage.

A Benchmark for Wine Tourism

SHUMI is also credited with laying the foundation for modern enotourism in Georgia. Its twelve-hectare tourist complex integrates the country’s first wine museum, an ethnographic pavilion, a working Marani, art installations, and immersive culinary and cultural experiences. Visitors engage with Georgian traditions through tastings, master classes, Qvevri rituals, and Supra feasts led by professional Tamadas, creating an experience where wine, music, art, and ritual coexist naturally.

Cultural Stewardship with Global Reach

Beyond production, SHUMI serves as a cultural steward. Its wine school offers free education to local students and international interns, while partnerships with institutions such as the United Kingdom’s Plumpton College reinforce its global academic presence. Architectural elements, sculptures, and frescoes by leading Georgian artists further position the estate as a living cultural landscape rather than a static destination.

Rooted in history yet uncompromisingly current, SHUMI Winery & Estate continues to shape how Georgian wine is understood, experienced, and celebrated worldwide.

THE LANDING: WINES THAT CAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF THE BAY OF ISLANDS

THE LANDING HAS EARNED ITS PLACE AMONG THE WORLD’S FINEST PRODUCERS, BEING NAMED ONE OF THE TOP 100 PREMIUM WINE & SPIRITS BRANDS OF THE WORLD IN 2025. THIS RECOGNITION, PRESENTED BY LUXURY LIFESTYLE AWARDS, SHINES A SPOTLIGHT ON THE WINERY’S UNIQUE HERITAGE, INNOVATION, AND COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES. WITH EVERY BOTTLE, THE BRAND CELEBRATES ITS EXTRAORDINARY HOME IN NEW ZEALAND’S BAY OF ISLANDS WHILE MAKING WAVES ON THE GLOBAL STAGE.

A Legacy Rooted in History

Wine production at The Landing is much more than a modern venture; it is a continuation of a story that began over 200 years ago. The Bay of Islands holds the title of being the birthplace of winemaking in New Zealand, and the property embraces that legacy with passion and precision. First planted in 2007 with Chardonnay and Syrah, the vineyard has since expanded to include Pinot Gris, Montepulciano, Malbec, Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Franc. Each varietal reflects the nuances of the coastal terroir, shaped by long, warm summers, refreshing sea breezes, and soils composed of ancient sandstone and clay.

The Wines: Distinctive and Bold

The Landing offers three distinct ranges that cater to diverse wine lovers while maintaining a clear identity anchored in quality. The Boathouse range is vibrant and approachable, perfect for casual enjoyment. The Landing range delivers structure and character, reflecting the estate’s unique growing conditions. At the pinnacle sits Madre, a premium tier bottled only in exceptional vintages. Madre wines are presented in bespoke packaging, including elegant boxes and hand-illustrated booklets, making them as visually striking as they are palate-defining.

Over the years, critics have praised The Landing’s Chardonnay for its finesse, its Syrah for intensity and its Rosé for fresh, expressive layers. The wines are produced in small batches, hand-picked and hand-sorted, ensuring authenticity and attention to detail. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts and the use of amphorae alongside oak and stainless steel give each wine a signature character rooted in the land.

Sustainability as a Driving Force

Beyond producing outstanding wines, The Landing has a strong ecological vision. The vineyard sits on 1000 acres of diverse landscape, where sustainability is not a slogan but a guiding principle. Over 1.2 million native trees have been planted in the past two decades, restoring biodiversity and creating an environment where the rare native kiwi bird thrives. Certification by Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand underscores the estate’s low-intervention approach, which prioritizes soil health, biodiversity, and water conservation.

The team also takes active steps to mitigate climate risks, recognizing the challenges posed by rising sea levels, bushfires, and extreme weather. These practices not only safeguard the vineyard but also honor the land’s cultural and ecological significance.

Experiences Beyond the Glass

The Landing is more than a vineyard; it is a destination. Visitors can indulge in exclusive tastings, guided vineyard tours, barrel sessions, and seasonal wine lunches or dinners prepared by the estate’s private chef. For those seeking immersion, sightseeing boat cruises around the Bay of Islands or vineyard walks offer breathtaking perspectives of land and sea.

Membership in The Landing Wine Club extends these experiences to loyal enthusiasts. Twice yearly, members receive handselected wines along with notes from the winemaker, while also enjoying invitations to exclusive events. Additional benefits are shared with sister properties, including The Landing Residences and The Hotel Britomart, ensuring the brand experience is rich and multifaceted.

Global Reach, Local Heart

While its roots remain firmly in New Zealand, The Landing continues to expand internationally. In the United States, its presence is growing steadily, particularly in Southern California, where partnerships with Air New Zealand and select luxury retailers place its wines in front of discerning audiences. In Australia, the brand is also gaining traction, while domestically it collaborates with premium restaurants and retailers such as Farro and The Wine Room Auckland.

Partnerships with lifestyle and fashion brands further reinforce its identity as a label that resonates beyond the bottle. A recent collaboration with Superette Store in New Zealand demonstrates how wine, culture and design intersect in meaningful ways.

Heritage, Innovation, and a Future Defined by Character

What sets The Landing apart is its ability to balance heritage with innovation. It draws on the history of the Bay of Islands as New Zealand’s original winemaking region while continuously experimenting with new varietals and winemaking techniques. Indigenous yeast fermentations, amphora aging, and small-batch separation allow the winery to extract the purest expressions of each parcel of land.

This philosophy ensures that every bottle captures not just the flavors of its terroir but also the legacy of a place where winemaking has deep roots and a flourishing future.

The Landing is an invitation to experience wines shaped by land, history, and vision.
