DISTINCTIVE LUXURY AT SCALE
with agnieszka rog-skrzyniarz Overseeing one of the world’s most influential luxury hospitality portfolios, Agnieszka Rog-Skrzyniarz champions distinct brand identities while harnessing the power of global scale. In this interview, she reflects on preserving narrative integrity, elevating local expression, and shaping the next chapter of European luxury travel.
Luxury is about inspiring aspiration, delivering experiences that are culturally rich and deeply personal.
Alexander Chetchikov: Agnieszka, you oversee some of the most renowned names in luxury hospitality. How do you ensure each brand maintains its unique identity while still benefiting from being part of the larger Marriott portfolio? Agnieszka Rog-Skrzyniarz: This is a wonderful challenge that requires a strategic balance between autonomy and synergy. At the heart of this is a deep respect for the heritage, design language, and guest expectations of each brand. Whether it's The Ritz-Carlton’s legacy of refined service, St. Regis’s timeless glamour, or W Hotels’ energy and creativity, we treat each brand as a distinct narrative that must be preserved and elevated. To ensure that each brand has a unique identity, we focus on three key pillars: brandcentric storytelling, unique operational frameworks, and strategic portfolio integration where it makes sense. Each brand tells its own story through curated experiences, design, and partnerships that reflect its DNA. For example, a St. Regis activation might center around a partnership with Ginori 1735 - the finest porcelain brand, while W might lean into music or design activation. These narratives are not diluted by the portfolio – they are amplified through targeted marketing and localized execution. While Marriott provides operational excellence and scale, we ensure that luxury brands have customized service standards, training programs, and guest journey mapping. This allows us to deliver on their unique brand promise. And finally, we leverage our platforms, such as the Luxury Group website, to drive crossbrand discovery without compromising brand integrity. Through segmentation, we guide guests to the right brand for their lifestyle and occasion, ensuring that loyalty doesn’t mean uniformity - it means choice, personalization, and elevated experiences across the board. Ultimately, it’s about celebrating individuality within a collective. Each brand is a jewel in the portfolio, and our role is to let it shine - distinctly, authentically, and powerfully.
Each brand tells its own story, amplified through curated experiences and local partnerships. AC: With 100 luxury hotels already operating across Europe and more in the pipeline, what role does localization play in creating an authentic guest experience for such a diverse market? ARS: Localization is essential to delivering authentic luxury experiences across diverse markets. Each hotel must reflect the spirit of its destination - not just in design and cuisine, but in the stories it tells. We achieve this by partnering with regional creatives and curating experiences that celebrate local culture. It’s not about replicating luxury it’s about reinterpreting it through a local lens. That’s how we ensure every property feels both globally elevated and deeply personal. AC: Marketing luxury hospitality often goes beyond promoting a property; it’s about conveying a lifestyle. What strategies have you found most effective in connecting with today’s discerning luxury traveler? ARS: Luxury hospitality is about inspiring aspiration and emotional connection - not just selling a stay, but curating a lifestyle. The most effective strategies center around storytelling, personalization, and cultural relevance. We lead with brand narratives that evoke desire and distinction, amplified through high-touch digital content, influencer collaborations, and immersive experiences. We also leverage data to personalize outreach - speaking to guests not just by segment, but by mindset and moment. ISSUE 3 | DECEMBER 2025
13
AC: You’ve held leadership roles in marketing and communications across multiple regions within Marriott. How has that international experience influenced your approach to leading luxury brands in Europe? ARS: Working across diverse markets has taught me that while luxury is universal in aspiration, it’s local in expression. I have learned to balance global brand consistency with cultural sensitivity - ensuring each activation resonates with local audiences without compromising brand integrity. For me and my team, building agile strategies that adapt to regional dynamics while staying aligned with the brand’s core values is an ultimate priority. This global lens allows us to elevate the brand’s storytelling in Europe with both relevance and resonance. AC: Looking ahead, what do you see as the most significant opportunities and challenges for luxury hospitality in Europe over the next five to ten years? ARS: The biggest opportunity for luxury hospitality in Europe lies in redefining personalization. Today’s luxury traveler expects more than exceptional service - they seek experiences that are culturally rich, emotionally resonant, and tailored to their values, whether that’s sustainability, wellness, or exclusivity. Leveraging data, local partnerships, and immersive storytelling will be key to meeting these expectations. The challenge, however, will be maintaining brand distinctiveness in an increasingly competitive and consolidated market. As luxury evolves, we must ensure our brands stay relevant without losing their identity balancing innovation with authenticity, and scale with intimacy. Europe’s diversity is our strength, but it demands agility, cultural fluency, and a relentless focus on the guest.

With experience across Europe and the Middle East, Ahmed Chaaban brings a multidimensional view of luxury shaped by culture, discipline and human connection. In this conversation, he reflects on client behavior, leadership and the evolving role of authenticity as he guides Richard Mille’s presence in the region. Alexander Chetchikov: Ahmed, you’ve worked across PR, events, marketing, and CRM in both Europe and the Middle East. How has this cross-disciplinary background influenced your approach to leading marketing and communications at a luxury maison like Richard Mille? Ahmed Chaaban: My journey has never been linear. I began in visual merchandising, moved into events and CRM, then marketing and PR, and each chapter taught me something different about people, culture and the way luxury is perceived. Working in Europe shaped my discipline and structure, while the Middle East taught me warmth, instinct and how important relationships truly are. At Richard Mille, this mix helps me lead with a wider lens. I do not think in terms of campaigns; I think in terms of ecosystems.

something you force.
In the Middle East, the most exclusive relationships are built on sincerity, trust and presence at the right moments. A message, an experience and a relationship are all interconnected. When you understand every layer, you become more thoughtful in the decisions you make and more respectful of the clients who trust your brand. It also taught me humility. No matter how senior you are, you are always learning. And the day you stop learning, you stop leading. AC: The Middle East has become one of the most dynamic luxury markets globally. What are the unique consumer behaviors or expectations in the region that guide your strategy for client engagement and loyalty? Ahmed C: The Middle East is a relationshipdriven region, and I say that with deep respect. Clients here value sincerity, discretion, and a sense of being understood. They do not respond to noise; they respond to authenticity. One thing I always remind teams is that hospitality is a language in this part of the world. People remember how you made them feel long before they remember what you showed them. So our strategy focuses on warmth, cultural respect and consistency. Clients want to feel that the brand is present, not overbearing; generous, not showy; and that we genuinely know them beyond a CRM number.
AC: Client acquisition and retention sit at the heart of luxury marketing. In the Middle East, what does meaningful relationship-building look like for an ultra-high-net-worth audience, and how do you balance exclusivity with accessibility? Ahmed C: In the Middle East, meaningful relationship-building with UHNW clients looks very different from the rest of the world. The region has evolved at a pace that many global markets are still trying to understand, and expectations have risen just as quickly. Clients here grew up watching their cities transform, and their cultures modernise. They are highly global yet deeply rooted in their values. So relationships must respect both sides. You cannot be transactional. You must understand trust, family and discretion, while also keeping up with their global pace and lifestyle. The UAE has set the benchmark. It showed the luxury world that service must be fast, seamless and anticipatory, and that hospitality is a culture, not an industry. Clients want the brand to fit naturally into their life, not feel like a company trying to enter it. A region where exclusivity is never at the expense of accessibility, and we proudly uphold both. The most exclusive relationships are built on genuine access, sincerity and presence at the right moments. If you understand how quickly the Gulf has grown and evolved, and you grow with it, you stay relevant. And in the Middle East, relevance is what brings a brand into the client’s inner circle. AC: Leadership in the luxury sector demands both precision and creativity. What philosophy guides how you build and develop teams, especially in an environment where brand equity and client trust are paramount? Ahmed C: My leadership philosophy is actually quite simple: clarity, consistency and care.
ISSUE 3 | DECEMBER 2025

Clarity means honesty, transparency and ensuring everyone understands the vision and the standards we uphold. Consistency means leading by example rather than instruction, and never, under any circumstance, choosing the easier road when the right road is available. And care means treating our people with the same respect and attention we expect them to extend to our clients. I have always believed that teams thrive when they are trusted and empowered, not micromanaged. In luxury, details matter deeply, but so does creativity. People need enough structure to feel grounded and enough freedom to grow. And finally, humility. In our world, titles can be very big, but the work remains profoundly human. A leader shapes culture, and culture is ultimately what clients feel every time they encounter the brand. AC: Looking ahead, what key shifts do you anticipate in the luxury watch and high-end consumer landscape in the Middle East, and how is Richard Mille preparing to stay ahead of changing client expectations and market dynamics? Ahmed C: The luxury consumer in the Middle East is evolving quickly. People are becoming more global in taste, more knowledgeable about craftsmanship, and far more selective about the brands they choose to associate with. They look for meaning, not just visibility. I believe we will see a deeper integration of culture, art and long-term storytelling. Clients want substance, and they want brands that add something to their world rather than simply sell into it. At Richard Mille, this is exactly where we place our focus. Whether through art, sport, education or culturally rooted experiences, we invest in relationships that hold genuine depth. We stay close to our friends of the brand, our ambassadors and our clients. They become part of our extended family, and we listen to them and evolve alongside them. Our goal is not to chase trends, but to understand people. When you understand people well, you naturally stay ahead of the market.

HOW DOM PÉRIGNON TURNS FEELING INTO GLOBAL INFLUENCE
with charlotte garel joyeux
Charlotte Garel Joyeux brings a rare blend of creative insight and strategic precision to Dom Pérignon. In this conversation, she reveals how emotion becomes measurable impact, how exclusivity survives in a digital world, and why meaning and authenticity are redefining the future of luxury.
Alexander Chetchikov: Dom Pérignon is as much about emotion and experience as it is about product. How do you translate something as intangible as feeling into measurable marketing success? Charlotte Garel Joyeux: At Dom Pérignon, we see emotion as the invisible thread that connects our Maison to those who experience it. To translate these feelings into measurable success, we focus on creating moments that linger in memory - through immersive experiences, thoughtful collaborations, and storytelling that resonates deeply. To measure the impact of these emotional connections, we look beyond traditional KPIs.
While sales and brand awareness remain important, we also track engagement rates, sentiment analysis on social media, customer feedback, and the depth of our relationships with clients and partners. We use qualitative insights - such as testimonials and media coverage - alongside quantitative data to capture the full spectrum of our impact. Ultimately, our greatest metric is when Dom Pérignon transcends the bottle to become an emotion people seek to relive and share. AC: You have worked across agencies and luxury houses. What have those two worlds taught you about storytelling that truly connects with discerning consumers? CGJ: Both worlds have taught me that authenticity, coherence, and boldness are paramount. Agencies bring a fresh perspective and creative audacity, while luxury houses ground us in heritage and purpose. The magic happens when you honor a brand’s DNA while daring to surprise. Discerning consumers are not only looking for beautiful stories - they seek meaning, consistency, and a sense of belonging. Our responsibility is to invite them into our universe with sincerity and creativity to make them feel seen and understood, while always remaining true to who we are. AC: Marketing in luxury often means balancing exclusivity with accessibility. How do you maintain that fine line in a digital-first world? CGJ: It’s a delicate intention and nuance.

Digital platforms allow us to reach broader audiences, but true luxury is about curation and rarity. We strive to create digital experiences that are inspiring yet selective - offering glimpses into our world without revealing all its mysteries. Personalization, invitation-only events, and limited-edition digital content help us maintain exclusivity, while digital storytelling ensures we remain relevant and engaging. The key is to invite, not to broadcast; to intrigue, not to saturate.
Digital should invite, not broadcast. It should intrigue, not saturate.
AC: Leading global teams across cultures and markets comes with complexity. What principles guide your leadership style when aligning creative vision with business goals? CGJ: I believe in listening, trust, and the power of collective intelligence. I believe in empowering teams - encouraging diverse perspectives, creative freedom, and fostering a culture of excellence and responsibility. Clear communication and mutual respect are essential, as is the ability to adapt our vision to local nuances without compromising on excellence. Ultimately, aligning creative ambition with business objectives requires both rigor and inspiration. I see my role as a facilitator of transmission: ensuring that our creative ambition serves our business objectives and that our actions have a positive, sustainable impact. This balance between inspiration and rigor is, I believe, the key to lasting success.

Technology will evolve, but emotion, artistry, and wonder will remain at the heart of luxury. AC: Looking ahead, what forces or shifts do you believe will most influence how champagne and luxury more broadly will be marketed in the next decade? CGJ: The next decade will be shaped by a profound search for meaning and responsibility. Consumers are seeking deeper connections, authenticity, and brands that stand for something beyond the product. Sustainability, cultural relevance, and experiential innovation will shape our approach. Technology will continue to transform how we engage, but the human element—the emotion, the artistry, the sense of wonder—will remain at the heart of luxury. At Dom Pérignon, our challenge and our joy will be to keep reinventing this magic for new generations.

Leonardo Allasia shares how Poltrona Frau balances heritage and innovation, using design, technology, and human connection to express Italian craftsmanship and authenticity to a global audience in the modern luxury world. Alexander Chetchikov: Leonardo, Poltrona Frau is known for timeless design and craftsmanship. How do you communicate that exclusivity and attention to detail to a digitally savvy, global audience without losing the brand’s essence? Leonardo Allasia: I don’t believe there is a single formula that works for every brand. That said, we are fortunate to represent one of the most distinguished heritage names in the highend design industry. Our tagline captures this legacy with clarity: “Crafted with love in Italy for life’s most memorable moments, since 1912.”
CRAFTED FOR THE FUTURE: POLTRONA FRAU
with leonardo allasia
While our business is unique in the world as it also serves the contract and luxury mobility sectors, our residential offering is grounded in three pillars: Timeless aesthetics, functionality, and product integrity, all three supported by sustainable processes and the use of what we call “noble materials” that stand the test of time. These include FSC-certified wood and leather sourced as a by-product of the food industry— materials that embody our commitment to creating pieces made to endure. Because materiality and aesthetics are best conveyed visually, photography and video assets remain natural vehicles for expressing exclusivity and attention to detail across our digital channels. People fall in love with what they see— and with how a product experience makes them feel. At the same time, technology has expanded the ways in which we communicate these attributes: computer-generated imagery, interactive web platforms, and artificial intelligence are all part of an evolving suite of tools we use to share our story. In addition to our global activations, events, and projects for clients that span the globe, we believe that a human touch and tangible experiences are essential to fully engaging with our brand. Our heritage is showcased through the Poltrona Frau Museum at our global headquarters in Tolentino, a town of medieval origins that is situated in the very heart of Central-Northern Italy in the Marche region, and home to our traditions of “leathership” and craftsmanship as well as the people that bring to life all our creations. To share our legacy we have created a traveling museum format—most recently with the launch of the Poltrona Frau Museum in Shanghai this year. AC: What are the key leadership principles you apply when managing cross-cultural teams across Europe, Asia, and the Americas? LA: The key principles that have guided me in my mission so far can be summarized in three areas:
People fall in love with what they see —and with how it makes them feel. 1. Empathy and clarity in communication. I’ve learned that being precise, transparent, and intentional in how messages are delivered helps minimize misunderstandings, foster trust, and create alignment across diverse stakeholders. Equally important is bringing emotional intelligence and active listening into every interaction, since not everyone in an organization is driven by the same motivations or responds to the same incentives. 2. Cultural intelligence. Recognizing and respecting cultural differences has been essential in navigating global environments. Italy is an important market for us, but we are also dependent on exports. It allows me to connect authentically with our members, adapt appropriately, and ensure that strategies resonate across different contexts. The one-sizefits-all approach rarely works. 3. Humility. Maintaining a humble mindset has helped me strike the right balance between upholding the consistency a strong brand requires and embracing the flexibility needed to incorporate market-driven, bottom-up insights from local teams. This balance often reveals the “sweet spot” where global direction and local realities meet, enabling sustainable impact. AC: In your experience, what differentiates marketing strategies in the luxury furniture sector from other luxury industries like automotive or fashion?
ISSUE 3 | DECEMBER 2025
35
LA: I would argue that luxury is not a universal concept with a single definition across industries or cultures. Instead, it is the consumer who ultimately determines the positioning of a brand and what luxury means, based on their emotional, technical, and functional needs when purchasing a product or service.
Luxury marketing strategies to address these needs can fall broadly into two categories. The first applies to products that can be purchased with relatively high frequency—such as apparel, small accessories, or leather goods. The second applies to products that are purchased less frequently, including high-end furniture, automobiles, luxury watches, fine jewellery, or yachts. Luxury furniture falls into this latter category: products that are durable, long-lasting, and therefore have extended life cycles. These products and their associated services are typically acquired after a lengthy purchasing journey. In such cases, strategies must go beyond inspirational storytelling designed to spark desire combined with a curated online presence and capital intensive in-store experiences. They must also focus on what happens in between the initial spark of interest and the actual purchase—what we call the evaluation phase of the customer journey-and the ownership phase after purchase, regardless if our customer is an architect, a developer, or a private customer. 36
LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
Addressing the customer’s rational needs during this extended evaluation phase, as well as throughout the ownership phase after purchase, is paramount. In this critical stage, customers pay close attention to product attributes, the quality of customer care, residual value and second-life potential, and delivery timelines—all of which play a decisive role in their final decision. AC: How do collaborations with artists, designers, or technology partners enhance the brand’s storytelling and customer engagement? LA: They are fundamental to both storytelling and engagement. Partnerships, as a strategic lever, are not new in the marketer’s toolkit— especially in the luxury space, where countless examples exist. Yet, I believe the true magic of partnerships emerges not when two like-minded players from different industries come together, but when partners bring opposing attributes that complement one another. The most powerful collaborations occur when one partner contributes perceived qualities that reinforce or enhance aspects of a brand’s positioning that may otherwise appear underrepresented. For instance, if a company possesses world-class R&D capabilities but is primarily perceived through the lens of craftsmanship, collaborating with a technology partner can help surface and amplify those dormant innovation credentials. Such a partnership allows consumers to see the brand in a fresh light, reframing its identity in a more holistic way. In terms of artists and designers, they are our “bread and butter”. The more we collaborate with creatives who have cultivated unique perspectives of expression, the more we can (i) access alternative communication channels to reach new audiences, and (ii) showcase our craftsmanship through diverse lenses, each offering a distinctive interpretation of what we make and how we create. AC: Looking ahead, what changes or opportunities do you anticipate for the luxury design and furniture industry in the next decade?
LA: Within the industry, there is a broad consensus that the market will continue to grow, driven by urbanization, real-estate development, rising purchasing power, and an increasing appetite for well-made, durable products that capture both the hearts and minds of consumers. In the short term, we are already witnessing a strong demand for products that are modular, multifunctional, and highly customizable. Sustainability and design-fordisassembly are also set to gain even more importance as customers and regulators alike place greater emphasis on environmental responsibility, especially for brands originating in Europe. Looking further ahead, I expect the category to place greater focus on customer service and product functionality, with technology seamlessly integrated into products—two dimensions that converge to support the connected lifestyles of consumers. This year, for example, we launched a partnership with Leica, a German company best known for its high-precision cameras, lenses, and optical instruments. The partnership revolved around their Cine1, an advanced short-throw projector, which we integrated into our Fidelio multi-media cabinet that featured a screen that elegantly disappears flush into the furniture, with a remote essentially allowing the screen to appear only when needed. While the concept may sound simple, it had never been executed at this level of technology integration and design sophistication. The initiative was well received by both our network and the media, both indicative of potential demand. It also gives credibility to the broader thesis that technology, when thoughtfully integrated into design, represents one of the most exciting opportunities ahead— for both new entrants and established heritage brands such as Poltrona Frau.

With over two decades in luxury marketing, Linda Schultes leads the global strategy behind The World, the only private residential ship on the planet. She shares how authenticity, innovation, and storytelling attract the ultra-wealthy to a life of endless discovery. Alexander Chetchikov: Linda, with your extensive background in luxury sales and marketing, how do you tailor strategies to attract the ultra-high-net-worth clientele of The World, especially given its unique residential-at-sea concept? Linda Schultes: At this level, our marketing is less about selling and more about storytelling and authenticity. Ultra-high-net-worth individuals are looking for experiences that are truly one-of-a-kind, deeply personal, and aligned with their values. The World’s unique concept remains unmatched — it’s not a cruise ship or a vacation destination but rather a luxury travel lifestyle that combines exclusivity, community, and global exploration—all from the comfort of home. We tailor our sales, marketing, public relations, and social media strategies to highlight that distinction, ensuring every touchpoint conveys both the rarity and the authenticity of what we offer.

AC: How does your team offset brand consistency with the need to adapt marketing approaches to diverse global markets as The World travels across continents each year? LS: Brand consistency is non-negotiable, and we have maintained a strong global brand identity for over 20 years. Our brand positioning is truly global, so we don’t need to reinvent our marketing in each region. The appeal of The World resonates universally with ultra-high-networth individuals seeking a luxury travel lifestyle. However, to ensure accessibility for our global audience, our website is translated into several languages. This allows prospective Residents from different regions to engage with our brand seamlessly, while reinforcing the universal appeal of The World’s lifestyle. AC: How do you collaborate with global partners and local experts to create immersive experiences that go beyond traditional luxury travel offerings? LS: Collaboration is key to delivering the extraordinary. Our Residents expect experiences they cannot access anywhere else, and that’s made possible by working hand-in-hand with world-renowned partners and local experts. Whether it’s private access to UNESCO heritage sites, intimate culinary experiences with acclaimed Michelin-star chefs, exclusive private tastings with winemakers in their cellars that are not available to the public, or thought leadership programming, we design opportunities that are authentic, rare, highly enriching and transformative. These collaborations bring destinations to life in ways that go far beyond traditional travel. AC: Looking ahead, how do you see digital innovation influencing demand generation and lead conversion in ultra-luxury travel and residential experiences like those offered by The World? LS: Digital will continue to play an increasingly important role, but in the ultra-luxury space, it must be curated thoughtfully.
Digital will continue to play an increasingly important role, but in the ultraluxury space, it must be curated thoughtfully. Our innovation lies in highly personalized engagement — leveraging data to anticipate needs, AI to streamline touchpoints, and immersive technologies like virtual tours to showcase the unparalleled lifestyle aboard The World. To support this, we recently added two new positions within the Sales & Marketing department dedicated to digital strategy, content and analytics. These roles allow us to track where prospective Residents are going for their information, how they are finding us, and to use those insights to refine our marketing. The more we know about their digital habits, the better we can service their needs and convert their interest into sales.

Leaders must be agile, datadriven, and deeply attuned to global trends, but also empathetic and human in the way they build relationships. AC: Being named one of 2025’s most influential luxury marketing leaders highlights your industry impact. What do you believe the future of luxury marketing demands from its leaders? LS: I believe the future of luxury marketing demands leaders who can balance timeless brand values with constant innovation. Buyers of luxury goods are looking for more than exclusivity — they want authenticity, cultural connection, and a sense of purpose behind the brands they choose. Leaders must be agile, datadriven, and deeply attuned to global trends, but also empathetic and human in the way they build relationships. I also envision AI playing a central role — not as a replacement for human connection, but as a tool to personalize engagement, anticipate needs, and deliver insights that allow us to refine experiences with precision.

LUXURY MARKETING TAKES FLIGHT
with matteo atti Matteo Atti, Global CMO at VistaJet and former executive at Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Paul Smith, shares how his fashion-rooted storytelling influences VistaJet’s personalized approach to service, loyalty, and authentic connection, offering a new perspective on modern luxury. Alexander Chetchikov: Matteo, having worked with iconic luxury brands like Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Paul Smith, how have those experiences influenced the way you approach marketing for VistaJet’s ultra-high-net-worth clientele? Matteo Atti: All my life, I worked on brands that expressed a recognisable point of view and shared a clear promise with their clients. This made them not only successful but true icons of luxury. Applying the same approach, creating a true relationship with clients, is what allowed VistaJet to move beyond being the most convenient transportation service and become a true partner in our clients’ lives. AC: VistaJet operates at the intersection of aviation and luxury. What are the biggest challenges in differentiating a private aviation brand in such an exclusive yet highly competitive market? 44
LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
MA: It might sound surprising, but even at such a high level, price seems to be the main conversation point for most in the industry. At VistaJet, we believe value is about delivering on what matters for you; focusing on the quality of the service, what it allows you to achieve, and how it can make a difference to what matters in your life: from closing a deal, to spending the most special moments with your family; from promoting your health to helping you discover more of the world. And making the service so simple that it feels almost magical. AC: As CMO, you manage the entire customer journey, from research to retention. How do you use data and client insights to personalize experiences for ultra-high-net-worth individuals while keeping that sense of exclusivity? MA: For any industry leader, the difficulty is resisting the temptation to look at client segmentation as a way to generate macro savings. Quite the opposite, data should be used to unearth deeper insights to make every client feel unique, listened to, and catered for. Even compared to most luxury services, we are in the lucky position to always be in touch with our clients. We talk to them regularly and see them in the cabin. So much so that all our programs are directly inspired by them – from wellness to children's services, from pets to private dining solutions, we address their everyday needs, adding a touch of surprise. AC:
You’ve
led
teams
in
fashion,
telecommunications, and now private aviation. Which lessons from these different industries have helped you most when building marketing strategies for luxury brands? MA: I remember always starting a new job by spending time in a shop, with trade buyers, or flying with clients on a jet. Far from hiding behind a desk, you need to live marketing as if you were the one delivering the message, in person. And then, surround yourself with colleagues who similarly care for their clients and feel personally invested in anything they do. Remember that luxury marketing is not about your story – it’s about how it makes your clients feel.
The time of polished, centrally controlled brands is ending; authentic voices will define the future.

To truly lead in luxury, you must live your marketing, see it, feel it, deliver it. AC: Looking ahead, what trends do you anticipate will define the expectations of UHNW clients in the next 5–10 years, and how is VistaJet preparing to meet them? MA: The multiplication of brand voices is inevitable, and with it, the time of monolithic, centrally controlled, polished brands is coming to an end. Companies where clients are organic ambassadors will win over ones with large budgets. And when every employee is tangible proof of the company’s true values, clients loyalty will grow. The pace of innovation is increasing. But only ideas based on true clients’ needs will create real long term value, and change the industry. We are establishing better tools to listen to the client’s voice, and to use it to direct our choices. Always believing that we need to anticipate needs, and shape solutions based on our team’s expertise to deliver the highest level of service possible, every day.

Mic Adilardi oversees IHG’s Luxury and Lifestyle sales across the Americas, drawing on international experience and a deep understanding of cultural nuance to guide brands, teams, and partners in meeting the evolving expectations of today’s global luxury traveler. Alexander Chetchikov: Mic, you oversee sales for IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio across the Americas. What strategies do you find most effective in driving sales across such a wide and diverse region as the Americas, where client expectations can differ significantly from market to market? Mic Adilardi: I think the key element is having a team strategically deployed across all markets with a strong pulse on what customers are seeking, the emerging travel trends, and evolving booking behaviors. The Americas is incredibly diverse, so success comes from recognizing and respecting cultural nuances, understanding what motivates different traveler segments, and tailoring our approach accordingly.
IHG’S GLOBAL LUXURY STRATEGY AND THE FUTURE OF HIGH-END TRAVEL
with mic adilardi
What has worked well is empowering our team to act as true consultants rather than just sellers — engaging deeply with agency owners, consortia partners, and clients to anticipate needs and present solutions that feel personalized and relevant. In some markets, the focus is on last-minute, high-value bucket-list trips, while in others it’s about building longterm relationships and consistent touchpoints.
loyalty
through
At the same time, I encourage the team to share insights across borders. Trends often start in one region and quickly influence another, so by staying connected and learning from each other, we can position IHG as proactive rather than reactive. Finally, leveraging tools like data analytics and AI not only helps us efficiently identify opportunities matching the right product to the right client, but also enables better personalization and loyalty recognition, which are key to engagement. At the core, it’s about the human connection and being able to adapt strategies market by market while still telling one cohesive IHG story. AC: Having transitioned from hospitality into fashion publishing and then back into luxury hotels, how has that cross-industry experience influenced your leadership style and approach to global sales? MA: Both fashion and luxury hospitality share common DNA: they are built on exclusivity, excellence, and the ability to deliver what is not yet accessible to everyone else. My time in fashion publishing gave me a different lens on luxury, one where perception, storytelling, and timing are just as important as the product itself. That experience has translated directly into my approach to hospitality sales, where creating desire and anticipation is often as critical as the actual guest experience. From a leadership perspective, working alongside high-profile personalities in fashion, where strong leaders and creative identities are front and center, taught me the importance of diplomacy, emotional intelligence, and managing expectations with confidence. It sharpened my ability to read the room, to balance strong voices, and to create alignment even when perspectives differ.
Our goal is to act as true consultants, not just sellers, anticipating needs before they are voiced.
In global sales today, that translates into being proactive and anticipating needs before they are voiced, staying two steps ahead for both clients and my team. It also reinforced the value of agility, as in fashion, trends shift overnight, and in luxury travel, customer priorities can pivot just as quickly. Having that background allows me to lead with a blend of creativity, resilience, and adaptability while still keeping the commercial focus front and center.
AC: The IHG Luxury & Lifestyle collection spans diverse brands, from Six Senses to InterContinental. How do you ensure each brand’s unique identity is communicated effectively while still benefiting from being part of the larger IHG portfolio? MA: I believe the key lies in deeply understanding your audience and aligning each brand’s story with their specific needs and aspirations. What excites me most is having the opportunity to represent six distinct luxury & lifestyle brands that are all uniquely positioned to meet the evolving desires of luxury travelers. The portfolio spans transformative wellness at Six Senses, the elevated luxury of Regent, the timeless sophistication of InterContinental, the cultural immersion of Hotel Indigo, the bold, human-centered hospitality of Kimpton, and the individuality of Vignette Collection. We are very intentional about communicating the unique DNA of each brand with its culture, positioning, and promise while also showcasing the strength of being part of the larger IHG Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio.
Empathy, flexibility, and curiosity are the most essential qualities for a leader in luxury hospitality. 52
LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
Our goal is to help clients not only appreciate those nuances but also see the collective value in IHG’s portfolio. At the end of the day, it’s about storytelling, trust, and making sure our partners feel confident in recommending the right IHG brand for the right client, every time. That diversity keeps my work dynamic and engaging, because there’s always a perfect fit for every client. AC: In your view, what qualities are most important for a leader managing international teams in luxury hospitality, where cultural nuances expectations vary so widely?
and
client
MA: Being Italian and moving to New York City in my early 20s gave me the privilege of experiencing an incredibly international environment from a young age. It taught me that the beauty of our world lies in its differences, such as cultures, languages, and traditions – embracing that is key to global hospitality leadership. That perspective has shaped the way I lead today, especially in a role that is so global in nature. What I value most is constant exposure to diverse ways of thinking and working. From spending days with customers in the Middle East to connecting with partners in Asia, traveling across regions has reinforced how important it is to approach each interaction with openness, humility, and respect for local customs. Those experiences have given me a broader worldview and an appreciation for the richness of cultural nuance. At the heart of it, I believe the most important qualities for a leader in luxury hospitality are empathy, flexibility, and curiosity. You have to be genuinely interested in learning from others and willing to adapt your style to connect meaningfully with both clients and team members across geographies. IHG’s commitment to diversity and inclusion resonates deeply with me because it’s not just a company value, but it’s something I live and experience every day in my work.
Ultimately, I see leadership as a continuous learning journey. Every culture, every market, and every conversation teaches me something new, and that openness allows me to inspire and support my teams globally in a more authentic way. AC: Looking ahead, what do you see as the biggest opportunities and challenges for the luxury hospitality sector in the next five to ten years? MA: I see both opportunities and challenges for our sector in the years ahead. On the challenging side, the first is the sheer pace of growth in luxury hospitality. With so many new products, experiences, and guest expectations entering the market, the competition for traveler attention is fierce. That means we must remain laser-focused on delivering exceptional, consistent results and building brand loyalty in an environment where choice is abundant. The second challenge is talent. Our colleagues in the hotels are true stars - they face customers every day, shaping guest experiences, and bringing our promises to life. Attracting and retaining top talent is becoming increasingly difficult in today’s environment, yet it is absolutely essential if we want to maintain the standards of excellence that define luxury hospitality. On the opportunity side, I believe we are at a turning point. The profile of the luxury traveler is evolving, while the traditional high-spend, seasoned guest remains important; we are seeing a younger generation entering the luxury space. These travelers value authenticity, personalization, and experiences that feel once-in-a-lifetime — from elevated extras to multi-generational itineraries and culturally immersive stays. The opportunity lies in creating offerings that resonate with this new audience while still serving our long-standing guests. If we can strike that balance, the growth potential for our portfolio globally is tremendous.

HOW MASERATI TELLS A CENTURY-OLD STORY TO A NEW GENERATION
with pietro zambetti Pietro Zambetti, who leads global brand creative for Maserati, discusses how he strengthens the brand’s legacy through culturally grounded narratives, cohesive international teamwork, and intentional omnichannel design. He also examines the role AI may play in shaping future expectations within the luxury automotive world.
Alexander Chetchikov: Pietro, you’ve built your career around connecting audiences with luxury brands. How does your approach to brand storytelling differ when working with a global icon like Maserati compared to other sectors you’ve experienced? Pietro Zambetti: When working with a global icon like Maserati, you’ve to start from a great respect for its 111 years of history: the brand storytelling has to operate on a completely different level of cultural resonance. Luxury automotive is not only about selling a product — it’s about embodying timeless values such as performance, heritage, and Italian craftsmanship.
58
LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
The stories we tell must reinforce Maserati’s status as a symbol of Italian elegance and style, aspiration and legacy, while still staying relevant to contemporary audiences across very diverse markets and media. In other sectors I’ve worked in, the storytelling often has more flexibility — you can be more experimental, trend-driven, or focus on a specific lifestyle niche. With Maserati, the balance is more delicate: every narrative has to honor the brand’s DNA and protect its iconic status, while at the same time creating fresh, emotional connections with a new generation of customers. In short, when you work with a global icon, the approach is about elevation without losing the intention to innovate in order to find ways to reinterpret a heritage-rich story for today’s audience, without ever diluting its authenticity. AC: How do you ensure that Maserati’s creative direction reflects both the brand’s Italian identity and the expectations of a global luxury audience? PZ: Being globally recognized as a curator of Italian luxury makes our job easier, but also more meaningful. Maserati is not only part of Italian history — since the very beginning, we have been perceived as ambassadors of its luxury landscape. Our creative direction always starts from the concept of Gran Turismo. For us, it’s not just a car — it’s a lifestyle, inspired by the 19th-century Grand Tour, when the wealthiest traveled through Italy to experience its culture, beauty, and way of living. We aim to capture and reinterpret that same Grand Tour spirit in every piece of content, project, and activation — offering our audience not just a brand, but a chance to truly be part of the Maserati world, where Italian heritage meets contemporary global luxury expectations. AC: Leadership in a creative and marketingdriven role often requires aligning many voices. How do you foster collaboration and ensure your team delivers a unified vision across regions and cultures?
Our creative direction always starts from the concept of Gran Turismo - not just a car, but a lifestyle. PZ: What I love most about my role is working with people of different ages, backgrounds, and cultures from all over the world. With a brand as global and iconic as the Trident, the key is consistency. Our global team provides a clear vision and direction, while giving regions and markets the freedom to interpret it in ways that resonate with their local social and cultural context. This balance ensures we remain authentic and relevant everywhere. Collaboration is essential: we ask our regional teams to involve the HQ team in the creative process from the brief to execution. By working this way, we function as one global marketing team, united under the same brand guidelines while embracing diversity in expression. AC: Luxury customers expect a seamless experience across digital and physical touchpoints. What do you see as the most critical elements in building an effective omnichannel strategy for Maserati today?
ISSUE 3 | DECEMBER 2025
59
Our biggest challenge is giving clients a superior product experience while keeping our broader community engaged and inspired. PZ: Only a small group of people can afford to buy a Maserati, but more than 25 million people around the world feel part of our family and love the brand. Our biggest challenge is striking the right balance: giving our clients the chance to experience the product’s superiority while also keeping our broader community engaged and inspired. Omnichannel plays a key role in this. By leveraging different touchpoints — each with its own audience and expectations — we can create tailored content that always stems from a single, coherent creative concept. This consistency across channels allows us to meet diverse expectations while ensuring a seamless and authentic Maserati experience. AC: Looking ahead, what shifts in customer behavior or market dynamics do you believe will have the greatest impact on the future of the luxury automotive industry? PZ: We are living through one of the greatest turning points of our time: the rise of AI. Its impact will be felt across almost every industry, including automotive and luxury branding. What excites me most is how AI will be balanced with the human factor — because in luxury, technology can never replace the human touch. The challenge and opportunity lie in using AI to enhance personalization, creativity, and customer experience, while still preserving the authenticity, emotion, and craftsmanship that define true luxury.

DESIGNING DESIRE IN A WORLD OF CULTURAL FRAGMENTATION
with rachel walsh
In this conversation, brand architect Rachel Walsh explores the emotional power of luxury, the craft of creating desire, and why the future belongs to brands fusing heritage, culture, and technology. Her insights reveal how storytelling and human connection elevate luxury beyond product into lasting cultural presence.
Brand is everything; it’s the emotional gravity that can turn a product into a cultural icon.
Alexander Chetchikov: In an industry where heritage, design, and exclusivity drive so much
AC: When you’re building campaigns or leading teams, is there a guiding principle you
value, how important is the brand itself in shaping the future of luxury?
always come back to?
Rachel Walsh: Brand is everything; it’s the emotional gravity that can turn a product into a cultural icon. It allows you to command your positioning with power and clarity. A luxury watch isn’t just materials and mechanics; it’s belief, storytelling, and belonging. The most successful brands aren’t just selling objects; they’re curating worlds people aspire to enter.
RW: I’ve always believed the best ideas are the ones that move people, whether that’s an emotion, a memory, or a sense of possibility. For me, creativity has to spark something real; otherwise, it won’t stay with you. AC: In ten years, will creativity in luxury be about craft, cultural storytelling, or technology?
AC: Desire has always been at the heart of luxury. How do you think about creating and sustaining desirability in a world where audiences are more fragmented than ever?
RW: It will be about the fusion of all three. The brands that win will be those that preserve timeless craft, tell stories that matter culturally, and use technology as an amplifier of emotion. My vision is to always play at that intersection,
RW: Desirability in luxury is never accidental; it’s carefully crafted. It’s not just about showing a beautiful product; it’s about creating a sense of longing through storytelling, scarcity, and cultural relevance. The key is to build a brand world so magnetic that people don’t just want the product, they want to belong to the energy around it. True desirability lives where aspiration meets emotion.

HOW RUINART CONTINUES TO EVOLVE WITH PURPOSE AND VISION
with violaine basse 70
LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
Alexander Chetchikov: Violaine, your career spans beauty, wines, and spirits; three distinct yet equally demanding luxury sectors. What insights from Guerlain and Hennessy have been most valuable in your role at Ruinart? Violaine Basse:
Throughout my career at
LVMH, I've consistently collaborated with creative individuals – agency creative teams, designers, architects, and artists. Their contributions bring an immeasurable soul to luxury. Art, culture and creativity allow brands to craft products and experiences that deeply resonate and leave a lasting mark on our customers.
AC: You’ve spearheaded key transformations at Ruinart, from the launch of Second Skin packaging to new product innovations. When introducing changes of this scale, how do you balance respect for the maison’s heritage with the responsibility to address modern environmental and consumer expectations? VB: Since my early years at Guerlain, I've been captivated by the interplay of heritage and innovation. What might seem like antagonistic forces are in fact not. The best innovations bloom from heritage. They grow directly from a foundation of know-how passed down and enriched from generation to generation. Ruinart Blanc Singulier exemplifies this; it came from our Cellar Master’s intuition to create the Blanc de Blancs of the future, as an acknowledgement of climate change. AC: Marketing in the luxury sector often relies on storytelling. What guiding principles do you follow to ensure Ruinart’s campaigns remain both authentic to its history and relevant to today’s audience? VB: Ruinart was founded in 1729, during the Enlightenment—an era of conversation, discovery, and a strong belief in progress. This enlightened vision, seeing a future where others don’t, remains core to Ruinart today. Whether it's commissioning artists, committing to regenerative viticulture... We're staying true to our roots while building a fairer, more ecological future by inspiring new ideas.
The biggest opportunity will be in how we adapt sustainable practices; the brands that do are the ones that will be remembered. AC: As a leader guiding global initiatives, how do you inspire creativity and ensure strategic alignment within your teams while maintaining Ruinart’s prestige and standards of excellence? VB: I strive for a healthy tension between consistency and innovation. While our core vision must be clear, shared, and consistent over the years, the brand narratives - the embodiment of this vision in brand initiativesare constantly refreshed, giving ample space to creativity and innovation. AC: Looking ahead, what do you see as the most significant opportunities and challenges for the wines and spirits industry over the next decade? VB: I see both tremendous opportunities and challenges for the wine and spirits industry. The biggest opportunity will be in how we adapt sustainable practices; the brands that do are the ones that will be remembered. One of the challenges is the behavioural shift towards more moderate wine and champagne consumption. Therefore, my next big project is to weave responsible drinking into Ruinart's brand equity. THE LUXURY OF TIME WELL SPENT inside diane cook’s world of meaningful travel
For more than 40 years, Diane Cook, founder of 7SEAS2SEE Travel, has helped discerning travelers transform their most valuable asset-time-into extraordinary journeys. Recognized as a Conde Nast Traveler Top Travel Specialist and a Virtuoso advisor, she specializes in crafting seamless, stress-free experiences that go beyond traditional notions of luxury. Whether it is a private villa in the Mediterranean, an exclusive behind-the-scenes cultural tour, or a milestone celebration planned years in advance, every detail is thoughtfully curated so clients can focus on what matters most: creating memories that last a lifetime. For Diane, “‘Beyond Luxury’ means… moving past traditional luxury markers like products and a certain price point to exclusivity, focusing on authentic and more meaningful experiences.”

She believes that true luxury today is measured not by possessions or price, but by the quality and depth of the experiences a traveler can access. Every journey begins with what Diane calls a Discovery Zoom meeting.
“Sometimes it is the non-verbals I pick up on during a face to face that speak louder than the words, when I am asking about their vision, the experience that they are seeking, what thrills them. The more I listen, ask questions, understand, and ascertain, the better I can curate what will thrill them.” The key to creating experiences that feel both effortless and meaningful lies in her extensive global network. Diane explains: “These are my global relationships that I've developed over decades that are on the ground globally, who have the behind-the-curtains connections that deliver these experiences along with 24/7 local support.” Affluent travelers’ priorities continue to evolve. Diane notes: “The priorities have and continue to evolve. My clients know that I work with suppliers that have been well vetted for sustainability, financial stability, and have proven discretion, hospitality, and the most attentive level of service. These combined allow for the best experiences, times cherished, and the opportunity to relax and disconnect as much as they would like.” Her insider access often transforms ordinary trips into unforgettable moments. One example she shares:

Luxury isn’t what you see; it’s how deeply you feel, connect, and remember. “There have been so many! One example would be for a client who's dream it was to experience the Palio di Siena in Italy. We arranged for them to be included in one of the neighbourhood dinners and festivities the evening before the race, and be able to watch the race day from a private balcony. This had them above the crowds to be able to see everything, experience the thrill, and share this experience with locals. They were absolutely thrilled.” Many clients return for more than a single journey, trusting Diane with long-term planning. “Whenever a client is referred or finds me and we connect, we embark on a lifelong journey. We are often working on the next 5 years planning their bucketlist adventures to ensure we are getting what they want and they are not left having to settle and choose from what is left. Often they are mid 50's when we start together planning milestone adventures, this can be just for them, then they want to take their kids and grandchildren on an adventure to make memories they will cherish forever, perhaps a celebration of a business, inviting all of the business partners and clients. The reasons are endless, and the combinations of groupings of people together are as well. From an intimate private villa, to a luxury cruise ship full charter. I become the Travel Advisor for the next generation as well. We've worked together on their travels through the highs and lows of life, and we can remember together.” With Diane Cook, luxury is measured not by what you see, but by how deeply you feel, connect, and remember. Each journey is designed to leave an indelible mark on life’s most treasured moments.

THE ART OF
balance
On December 3, 2015, designer Mark Lim’s life was abruptly paused. A car accident shattered his femur, ribs, and wrist. For months, he could not move. Yet in that enforced stillness, a quiet truth surfaced: to rebuild something stronger, you must first confront what has been broken. Destruction, though unwelcome, is often the doorway to transformation. What felt like collapse became an invitation to slow down, to see differently, to rebuild with intention. Resilience, Mark realised, isn’t perfection. It is navigating the fragile space between loss and gain, brokenness and possibility.

LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
This understanding lies at the heart of MDS Interiors. Founded in 2012 by Mark Lim, Dominic Chee, and Susan Soh, the firm approaches design as an ongoing negotiation, a deliberate, disciplined search for equilibrium. They call it, A Fine Balance (AFB): the harmony between Aesthetic, Functionality, and Buildability. It is not a method, but a mindset.
Design, like life, is always about balance… between creation and destruction, form and function, chaos and order.
Their recent award-winning Penthouse project in Singapore embodies this philosophy. Curved fluted walls introduce rhythm against clean architectural lines. A staircase wall, once purely structural, becomes sculpture. Dark piano-finish panels anchor luminous spaces, creating a tension that doesn’t fight but resolves. To achieve this clarity, walls had to be demolished. Surfaces stripped bare. What remained became a canvas for reinvention. Because design, at its core, is transformation. And the most extraordinary transformations, whether in a space or within ourselves happen when balance is honoured: in the meeting of old and new, soft and hard, chaos and order.

FROM MONGOLIA TO MADISON AVENUE: kujten’s journey in modern luxury
In this exclusive, Carole Benaroya and Stéphanie Eriksson share how friendship and a shared passion for cashmere shaped Kujten - a brand blending Parisian elegance with Mongolian craftsmanship to redefine modern, sustainable, and authentic luxury. Alexander Chetchikov: Carole and Stéphanie, Kujten was born from both friendship and a shared love of cashmere. How has your personal bond influenced the way you run the brand and make creative decisions together? Carole Benaroya & Stéphanie Eriksson: Kujten was born from a deep friendship and a shared love of cashmere — a connection that truly lies at the heart of everything we do. Coming from different worlds, Carole, with a background in finance, and Stéphanie, in fashion styling, our duo is both unexpected and deeply complementary. We trust each other completely and understand one another without needing to explain everything. This mutual confidence allows us to make all our decisions — creative, strategic, or commercial — together, through constant and respectful dialogue. We challenge each other, but always with kindness. Our complementarity and shared vision are what drive Kujten forward: to make it an essential brand in the wardrobe of today’s woman — modern, free, and effortlessly elegant. Every decision we make together reflects that common goal and what Kujten truly represents for our clients. AC: From Paris to Mongolia to Madison Avenue, Kujten’s story spans worlds. How do you stay true to your Mongolian roots in
Stéphanie regularly travels there to meet the herders, build genuine relationships, and oversee the production process. Traceability is also a key aspect for us — it’s essential to guarantee respect for the environment and the well-being of the Capra Hircus herds. This rigorous approach allows us to offer the highest level of quality and excellence. This deep commitment to authenticity and respect — for both people and animals — naturally blends with our Parisian elegance, resulting in a modern, responsible, and refined vision of cashmere.

craftsmanship while keeping that unmistakable Parisian sense of style and modernity?
AC: Carole, coming from finance, and Stéphanie, from the world of fashion styling, it’s an unexpected duo. How do your contrasting strengths come together to build a modern luxury brand like Kujten?
CB & SE: Mongolia holds a central place in our story — in fact, Kujten means “the highest peak in Mongolia.” The craftsmanship we champion is deeply rooted in our identity. We work closely with the Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA) to ensure that nomadic herders work in fair conditions and that the goats are treated with care and receive proper medical attention.
CB & SE: Our duo — unexpected but deeply complementary — is one of our greatest strengths. Carole brings strategy and vision, while Stéphanie infuses intuition, creativity, and emotion. Kujten couldn’t exist without this duality.

CB & SE: For us, it was really about bringing something new. We wanted to shake up the traditional codes of cashmere by being bold and modern — playing with prints, colors, and creating pieces that tell a story and evoke emotion. PERSOL’S QUIET CONFIDENCE riccardo pozzoli on the new meaning of luxury
On the inaugural World Luxury Day, Persol earned a place among the TOP 100 Best Luxury Brands. In this conversation, Riccardo Pozzoli reflects on craftsmanship, authenticity, and the evolving meaning of luxury, offering insight into Persol’s past, present, and future.

LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
Alexander Chetchikov: Luxury was in the spotlight on the inaugural World Luxury Day, where Persol was recognized among the TOP 100 Best Luxury Brands. From your personal perspective, how do you define luxury today, and what does it represent to you on a more intimate level? Riccardo Pozzoli: Today, I see luxury less as a display and more as a form of intention. It’s the choice to invest in things that are built with care, that age well, that carry a sense of integrity. On an intimate level, luxury is time: the time a craftsperson dedicates to perfecting a detail, and the time a product grants back to the person who lives with it. Luxury is the quiet confidence that comes from owning something authentic, something made not to impress, but to endure. AC: Persol carries a remarkable legacy. How do you approach the balance between preserving the brand’s iconic DNA and exploring new creative directions for each collection? RP: Persol’s strength lies in its clarity of identity. We don’t need to reinvent who we are, we need to reinterpret it with relevance. Preserving our DNA means honoring the elements that make Persol unmistakable: our materials, our Italian craftsmanship, our cinematic charm. But each collection is also an opportunity to reframe that legacy through contemporary lenses: new forms, new color palettes, new cultural dialogues. It’s a balance between continuity and curiosity, where innovation elevates it.

AC: Eyewear can change not just how we look but how we feel. How do you bring together craftsmanship, innovation, and emotional storytelling to create frames that people genuinely connect with? RP: At Persol, we start from the belief that eyewear is a companion. It sits on your face; it shapes how you see the world and how the world sees you. Craftsmanship ensures that the object feels right (the weight of the acetates, the smoothness of the hinges, the comfort that comes from precision).
Consistency is not rigidity; it’s expressing the same values across very different touchpoints.
Innovation allows us to refine this experience and make it effortless. But the emotional connection comes from storytelling: from linking each product to a place, a mood, an attitude. When people wear Persol, they don’t just wear a frame, they wear a piece of Italian culture, a sense of character, a story they can make their own. AC: The luxury landscape is evolving rapidly, with new challenges emerging every year. What has been the most significant challenge in your work recently, and how has it influenced your approach? RP: One of the biggest challenges has been navigating a luxury audience that is more global, more digital, and more culturally fragmented than ever before. People expect immediacy, but they also value depth. This has pushed us to refine our approach: creating communication that is fast yet thoughtful, modern yet rooted. It has taught us that consistency is not rigidity: it’s the ability to express the same values across very different touchpoints, without losing authenticity. In this sense, the challenge has become an opportunity to strengthen the brand’s voice.

The future of luxury won’t be louder: it will be clearer. And Persol is wellpositioned to speak that language.
AC: As we look toward the future, what shifts do you anticipate in the luxury market, and how do you see brands like Persol evolving to meet the expectations of the next era? RP: I believe the next era of luxury will be defined by discernment. Customers will look for fewer things, but better: products with meaning, provenance, and longevity. They will reward brands that remain true to themselves while contributing positively to culture. For Persol, this means doubling down on what makes us unique: our craftsmanship, our Italian identity, our human scale. At the same time, we will continue to evolve in how we communicate, how we design, and how we connect with new generations. The future of luxury won’t be louder: it will be clearer. And Persol is well-positioned to speak that language.

MS: Luxury living has transformed dramatically. It’s no longer about isolated smart devices. It’s about orchestrated intelligence with homes that anticipate needs and respond effortlessly. Today’s homeowners expect integrated systems that harmonize lighting, shading, climate, audio, video, and security into one cohesive experience. Crestron has been at the forefront of this evolution since the very beginning, delivering professionally designed solutions that simplify complexity without compromising elegance. Beyond the technical capabilities, design matters more than ever. In luxury spaces, every detail must complement the architecture and interior aesthetic. Crestron embraces this philosophy with offerings like Horizon Keypads in exquisite metal finishes, lush horizontal sheers, and sleek touchscreens that blends seamlessly into the environment. AC: Many people now say that safety, wellness, and peace of mind have become the new definition of luxury. Do you agree, and how is Crestron responding to this shift? MS: Absolutely. Wellness is no longer a feature; it’s the foundation. Crestron integrates circadian lighting to support natural rhythms, automated shading for daylight optimization, and HVAC coordination for ideal comfort and energy efficiency. THE RISE OF POLAND’S LUXURY IDENTITY:
insights from adrian kołodziej
Poland’s ascent within the global luxury landscape has been steady, deliberate, and increasingly difficult to ignore. Once seen primarily as an emerging market, the country is now cultivating its own voice – one defined by cultural pride, creative ambition, and a new generation of discerning consumers. Few figures have observed and shaped this transformation as closely as Adrian Kołodziej, CEO of Luxury Media and Managing Director of Vilea Property Boutique. In a recent conversation with Alexander Chetchikov, president of the World Luxury Chamber of Commerce, Kołodziej offered an inside perspective on a market entering a new stage of maturity.
94
LUXURY PEOPLE MAGAZINE
Kołodziej’s professional path intertwines luxury publishing and high-end real estate, two fields he views as naturally connected. “My career has always been rooted in a fascination with beauty, architecture, and the way people express their ambitions through the spaces they inhabit,” he explains. Having entered Warsaw’s property market more than twenty years ago, he witnessed the early development of Poland’s premium segment long before it reflected the sophistication seen today. His realisation that luxury is “never just about price or materials – it’s about identity, heritage, and experience” became the guiding principle behind Luxury Boutique, a magazine dedicated to craftsmanship, culture, and lifestyle. This sensibility emerged at the right moment. Poland’s affluent class has become more internationally minded, more culturally aware, and more eager to engage with nuanced expressions of taste. As Kołodziej describes it, Luxury Boutique “became a bridge between business and beauty, between investment and inspiration.” The last decade has been transformative. “A decade ago, Poland was rarely mentioned in discussions about the global luxury economy. Today, it’s a market that attracts international investors and brands seeking a sophisticated, aspirational audience,” Kołodziej notes. Warsaw has taken on the role of cultural and economic catalyst, with its dining scene, boutique fashion houses, design studios, and contemporary galleries positioning it among Europe’s emerging centers of refinement. Rather than slowing momentum, the pandemic accelerated a shift toward values like quality, privacy, and heritage – elements Polish clients increasingly prioritize over labels. What sets Poland apart from its Western European peers is the spirit behind its consumption. Kołodziej highlights a balance between tradition and new wealth, characterized by discovery rather than pretension. Much of the country’s luxury demand comes from firstgeneration entrepreneurs whose success was built within a single lifetime. Luxury here is not inherited but earned, producing a market defined by individuality rather than imitation.
True luxury is never just about price or materials. It is about identity, heritage, and experience.
This mindset appears in personal choices: bespoke interiors, private art collections, architectural projects that prioritize character, and lifestyle preferences grounded in meaning over appearance. Luxury real estate exemplifies Poland’s evolution. What once focused on location and imported finishes has expanded into full lifestyle environments. “Today, it’s a complete lifestyle ecosystem,” Kołodziej says. New developments in Warsaw, from Wilanów’s green residential enclaves to Żoliborz’s designled communities, reflect a growing appetite for holistic living, including wellness amenities, concierge services, curated landscapes, and architecture rooted in sophistication rather than excess. The appeal is increasingly international, drawing buyers from Western Europe, the Middle East, and North America who value Poland’s blend of safety, culture, and opportunity.
ISSUE 3 | DECEMBER 2025
95
Polish luxury is the meeting point of ambition and authenticity, a modern confidence that draws from heritage and celebrates individuality. Culture has become the backbone of Poland’s luxury identity. Kołodziej stresses that “luxury without culture becomes empty very quickly.” Polish designers, architects, and collectors are elevating local artistry to new prominence, and Luxury Boutique reinforces this shift by presenting Polish creators alongside global brands. Instead of a hierarchy, Kołodziej sees today’s landscape as one of meaningful coexistence. Looking ahead, he envisions a Poland firmly embedded within Europe’s luxury ecosystem, driven by design, cultural expression, and experiential value. Luxury Boutique plans to expand its international footprint and continue curating Polish excellence. As Kołodziej concludes, “Polish luxury is the meeting point of ambition and authenticity – a modern confidence that draws from heritage, celebrates individuality, and believes that true sophistication is about how you live, not just what you own.”

We’re seeing growth in hybrid engines, recycled composites and connected technologies that support efficient cruising. These themes are strongly represented at the Dubai International Boat Show 2026, where exhibitors will showcase the latest ideas influencing yachting in Dubai and other global hubs. Dubai Harbour offers a cinematic setting that naturally blends business and marine lifestyle. We enhance this with tailored hospitality and curated networking. Instead of a traditional walk-through, we now present superyachts during golden hour with LED-lit detailing, creating an elevated atmosphere for interviews, photography and industry engagement. For nearly three decades, Kassie Smith, Founder & CEO of KS Global, has shaped some of the world’s most iconic luxury destinations. This year, she joined the WLCC Board, bringing her expertise in investment, hospitality, and destination strategy. In this conversation, she shares her perspective on the evolving luxury landscape and WLCC’s role in shaping its future.
Alexander Chetchikov: You’ve shaped luxury destinations around the world. What shifts will define the next generation of luxury real estate and hospitality? Kassie Smith: The next era of luxury will be defined by immersive collaboration – the convergence of hospitality with globally influential brands. Licensing and strategic partnerships are now essential to creating destinations with depth, narrative, and emotional resonance. Travelers increasingly seek experiences that reflect their identity while elevating their lifestyle, and the upcoming Louis Vuitton hotel on the Champs-Élysées is a clear example of this evolution.

Key forces driving this shift include mixed-use luxury communities, the integration of wellness and medical tourism, and the rise of private members’ clubs within hotels. Today’s luxury destinations must be lived, not simply visited. AC: What principles guide you when designing destinations that endure? KS: I always begin by identifying the strongest benchmark in the destination and then elevating it. The core question is: What will the affluent traveler desire here that no one else offers? Luxury must deliver intimacy, intention, and a memorable journey. It’s never about cost – it’s about value creation and strategic distinction. Innovation matters, but it must align with vision, market intelligence, and a cohesive narrative. Every project we take on at KS Global is treated as a precise puzzle, where every detail reinforces excellence. AC: Where do you see the greatest opportunities for WLCC to influence the luxury sector? KS: WLCC can become the global orchestrator that connects luxury development, investment, and consumer brand innovation. The Chamber has built an impressive foundation, and the next chapter lies in expanding that platform with expertise from across these sectors. The greatest opportunity is in creating highimpact introductions – aligning capital, visionary brands, and transformative leaders. Capital sits at the core of every successful luxury destination, and WLCC can play a central role in mobilizing these resources across global markets. AC: What signals or emerging trends should luxury leaders pay close attention to? KS: I closely track both market patterns and innovation, while separating enduring value from fleeting trends. Luxury as a sector has shown remarkable resilience through global downturns, but technology deserves careful evaluation.
The experiences people return to are the ones shaped by skilled professionals, not automation alone. Ultra-luxury will always remain high-touch. Human expertise, intuition, and personalization are irreplaceable. Technology should enhance the experience, not replace it. After two decades developing in Las Vegas, I’ve seen repeatedly that the experiences people return to are the ones shaped by skilled professionals – not automation alone. AC: How is capital behavior shifting in luxury development? KS: Capital today demands diversity and creativity. Traditional funding paths are no longer sufficient. Successful developers must understand alternative mechanisms and assemble layered capital stacks to bring ambitious projects to life. Family offices and private investors now place equal value on the story, the vision, and the team behind a project. To remain competitive, leaders must present a compelling narrative and a strong executive foundation. At KS Global, we approach every project with this mindset – entering conversations from a position of strength and clarity. Alternative funding is no longer optional; it is essential to navigating today’s landscape.

The strongest collaborations happen when both the property and the brand amplify one another’s market identity.
AC: What makes a luxury brand the right partner for a hospitality or real estate project? KS: A brand partnership must feel authentic, complementary, and strategically aligned. The right luxury brand elevates valuation, enhances credibility, and enriches the guest experience – from wellness and dining to signature amenities. Not every luxury brand is the right fit. The strongest collaborations happen when both the property and the brand amplify one another’s market identity. The goal is synergy, not symbolism. AC: What impact do you hope to create through your role on the WLCC Board? KS: My focus is to bring strategic insight, global connections, and long-term vision to WLCC. By developing new initiatives, uniting leaders across sectors, and supporting the Chamber’s expansion in the Western US, I hope to strengthen WLCC’s influence worldwide. Together, we can define the next chapter of luxury.

Alberto Menegatti, newly appointed to the WLCC Board, offers a compelling look at the forces influencing luxury today. His reflections highlight how the interplay of heritage, human insight, and modern innovation is guiding leadership and raising expectations across the global luxury sector. Alexander Chetchikov: Alberto, welcome to the WLCC Board! What excites you most about joining this community, and how do you envision contributing to its mission of connecting and supporting leaders across the luxury industry? Alberto Menegatti: What excites me most is the opportunity to be part of a global community that brings together leaders from such a wide spectrum of the luxury world.
INSIDE THE MIND OF A LUXURY FUTURIST
with alberto menegatti
The conversations that happen within WLCC — across fashion, hospitality, real estate, yachts, wellness, and art — are incredibly rich. Many of the challenges we face today are shared across sectors, and I believe there is immense value in creating spaces where ideas can cross-pollinate. I hope to contribute by fostering even more knowledge exchange within the community, particularly by supporting initiatives that strengthen cross-industry dialogue and create meaningful exchanges between emerging brands and experienced leaders. My goal is to add perspective, share what I’ve learned from my experience in brand building and strategic marketing, and help expand WLCC’s role as a catalyst for collaboration and forward thinking in the luxury ecosystem and as a platform that nurtures talent and elevates the next generation of luxury entrepreneurs. AC: You’ve led major initiatives at a globally renowned luxury fashion house that connect digital innovation with brand heritage. How do you balance maintaining a luxury brand’s tradition while delivering modern, data-driven experiences? AM: Balancing heritage and innovation starts with recognizing that they are not opposing forces. A brand’s history gives depth and purpose to innovation — and thoughtful innovation, in turn, ensures that heritage continues to resonate. For me, the balance comes from having a clear understanding of what the brand stands for: its codes, its values, and the emotions it wants to evoke. Heritage anchors the narrative, while data helps us fine-tune how that narrative comes to life for different audiences and moments. Digital initiatives, because of their scale and visibility, offer a unique opportunity to show a broad audience what the brand truly represents. When technology is used as an enabler, it helps extend the brand universe in a way that feels modern, intuitive, and fully coherent with its identity. This is where innovation becomes meaningful: when it reinforces, rather than competes with, the brand’s essence.
Leadership in luxury is the art of giving direction without dimming creativity.
AC: From your perspective, what distinguishes effective leadership within a creative organization at a leading global luxury fashion house, where artistry and business objectives must work hand in hand? AM: Effective leadership in a creative environment is rooted in trust, clarity, and the ability to create the conditions for creativity to thrive while staying anchored in a strategic vision. Great leaders are translators: they bridge creative intuition and business ambition, ensuring that teams feel both inspired and aligned. In practice, this means giving enough space for ideas to take shape, while providing a clear framework — whether it’s the brand’s long-term direction, client expectations, or commercial opportunities. It also requires empathy. Creative and business teams both share the same goal: building cultural relevance and long-term value. Leaders who can connect these worlds, protect the creative process, and maintain strategic discipline are the ones who create the most meaningful outcomes. AC: Omnichannel marketing is often discussed as the gold standard for luxury retail. In your view, what are the most critical elements brands overlook when creating a seamless customer journey?

channels.
Finally, they need mentors who encourage them to nurture their own curiosity. The best growth happens when someone feels safe to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and explore new ways of thinking. In a sector like luxury — where heritage and innovation coexist — that curiosity is often what makes young talent truly stand out.
The second is the role of the client advisor. Technology is essential, but in luxury the human moment is irreplaceable. Brands sometimes underestimate how much data, digital tools, and content should be designed to empower people, not replace them. Third, brands sometimes overlook the transitions: how a client moves from inspiration to research, from social media to store, from store to post-purchase. Seamlessness is not created within channels but between them.
AC: Looking ahead, what do you foresee as the next major shift in how luxury brands will connect with their customers globally?
Lastly, omnichannel requires a long-term cultural shift inside the organization. It’s not a project — it’s a mindset that touches product, operations, communication, and service. When brands treat omnichannel as a technology challenge rather than a holistic transformation, the experience inevitably feels fragmented.

More than ever, young professionals need mentors who can help them see the bigger picture. The luxury industry is complex, fastevolving, and increasingly influenced by technology, shifting customer expectations, and global cultural dynamics. It’s easy for someone early in their career to get absorbed in day-today tasks without understanding how their work connects to the broader ecosystem of the brand. A strong mentor can give them that perspective — helping them understand how creativity, strategy, operations, and customer experience all intersect. I also believe they need exposure: to different functions, geographies, and ways of thinking.

Clients increasingly expect brands not only to know them — but to understand them. This means connecting data, creativity, and human insight to build experiences that are tailored yet meaningful, global yet locally resonant. We will also see a stronger emphasis on valuedriven engagement: brands will need to articulate not only what they offer, but what they stand for. Clients are looking for authenticity, responsibility, and emotional depth, not just product excellence. Finally, the relationship between brands and clients will become more circular. Instead of linear journeys, brands will build ecosystems that keep clients engaged beyond the moment of purchase. In essence, the future of luxury will be built on relationships that are more personal, more human, and more continuous.

HOW RAS AL KHAIMAH IS RISING AS A LUXURY POWERHOUSE
with iyad rasbey
Iyad Rasbey, Vice President of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, reveals the strategy driving a compelling destination transformation and outlines the vision and principles guiding the Emirate’s rise as a luxury powerhouse rooted in nature, culture, and long-term sustainability amid evolving global travel expectations. Alexander Chetchikov: What was the original strategic insight that convinced you Ras Al Khaimah could evolve from an emerging destination into a luxury powerhouse? Iyad Rasbey: Travellers are directing more of their budget toward experience-led holidays, driven by higher lifestyle expectations and a desire for greater meaning in how they travel. This steady rise in luxury and lifestyle demand is helping destinations stand out in a competitive market. These shifts are also influencing how value is created. New ultra-luxury brands are coming to markets, and destinations are keen to attract new projects or elevate quality and rethink their offer.
Ras Al Khaimah naturally has what modern luxury travellers value most – unspoiled landscapes, cultural authenticity, generous space, and a sense of place. This wasn’t something we had to manufacture; it was inherent in the destination. At a time when global luxury is shifting away from excess and toward emotional connection, experience, and authenticity, Ras Al Khaimah already embodied these attributes. The real catalyst came when we analysed our current and upcoming hospitality offering and saw not only strong existing foundations where more than half of our inventory is already in the luxury segment, but also the opportunity to shape a more intentional future. Our upcoming hotel pipeline is deliberately curated to enhance the Emirate’s overall livability and attract a higher-yielding visitor who values quality and seeks deeper engagement. New openings from globally recognised luxury brands such as Anantara, Sofitel, and SO/, represent a conscious movement toward more premium experiences that elevate both the resident and guest experience. With the opening of Wynn Marjan Island, the first integrated luxury resort in the region, and our hotel pipeline maturing, we expect nearly 80 percent of the Emirate’s total inventory to be in the luxury and upper-upscale categories in the coming years. This deliberate evolution supports our strategic insight. Ras Al Khaimah is not simply capable of becoming a luxury powerhouse – it is already on that trajectory, and our role is to guide and accelerate it with purpose and clarity. AC: How did you determine which elements of the Emirate – nature, culture, sustainability – would become the core pillars of its luxury identity? IR: Ras Al Khaimah has something few destinations in the region can offer, and that is natural diversity, authentic heritage, and space to grow sustainably. When we examined global luxury travel trends, we saw a clear shift toward destinations that provide meaningful experiences, privacy, heritage, and nature-driven escapism.
Luxury today is defined not by opulence but by rarity, authenticity, and emotional connection, and our destination embodies all three.
Luxury today is no longer defined by opulence alone, but by rarity, authenticity, and emotional connection. With our mountains, desert, coastline, mangroves, and rich cultural narratives, we knew we had the foundation to build a new kind of luxury destination. These pillars align perfectly with where luxury tourism is headed globally. That naturally led us to highlight our landscapes, from mountains to coastline, as the defining stage on which luxury experiences could unfold. Our cultural heritage added depth, offering a narrative that is both timeless and distinctly ours. And sustainability became essential because high-value travelers now expect destinations to protect what makes them special. Importantly, our hotel landscape reflected this direction too. For example, the upcoming Saij Eco-lodge by Mantis Collection on Jebel Jais embodies nature escapism. Opening in 2026, it will be the first luxury, eco-driven mountain lodge of its kind in the UAE.

We chose to stand apart by embracing a quieter, naturedriven luxury that offers depth, serenity, and genuine connection.
AC: In a country known for world-leading luxury cities, what was your approach to positioning Ras Al Khaimah with a distinctive and authentic luxury proposition? IR: Our approach was grounded in complementarity. The UAE already excels in urban, architectural, and shock-and-awe luxury. Considering that we are only 45 minutes from Dubai, we chose to stand apart by embracing the kind of luxury that is rooted in space, nature, and authenticity. Ras Al Khaimah offers a serenity that contrasts beautifully with the energy of nearby urban hubs. Our proposition focuses on immersive, nature-led experiences and a slower, more reflective style of travel that allows visitors to connect deeply with the landscape and its stories. This is reflected in our hotel as well as in our attractions. In doing so, we’re creating a type of luxury offering that is unmistakably ours and inherently authentic. AC: What are the most critical initiatives within Destination 2030 that directly support the Emirate’s luxury repositioning? IR: The destination’s masterplan is essentially a blueprint that ensures Ras Al Khaimah evolves with intention, coherence, and long-term value.
At its core, the strategy is driven by a curated hotel pipeline and the deliberate structuring of the Emirate into distinct, high-quality destination zones. These zones take advantage of our 68 kilometres of coastline and are being developed in a way that protects their natural integrity while offering luxury brands the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind, context-led experiences. A major focus is on attracting premier hospitality names that align with our low-density, highvalue philosophy. The introduction of brands such as Janu, Nobu Hotels, Four Seasons, W Hotels, The Unexpected Hotels, and other highend brands is not incidental; it is the result of a selective approach that assesses how each property contributes to the broader masterplan, enhances experiential diversity, and elevates the Emirate’s premium positioning. The master also advances a coordinated infrastructure plan that supports the luxury ecosystem—from mobility and accessibility enhancements to integrated green spaces, cultural touchpoints, and community-centric developments that improve resident livability. For example, we recently announced plans to develop a VVIP terminal at Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. In essence, the strategy ensures that as Ras Al Khaimah grows, it grows purposefully: building a destination where elevated hospitality, thoughtful planning, and the preservation of natural and cultural assets reinforce one another to create an exceptional luxury environment. AC: How did high-profile collaborations and events (WTTC, AHIC, PATA) help elevate global perception and attract luxury travelers? IR: These partnerships played a pivotal role in amplifying Ras Al Khaimah’s visibility and credibility internationally. Hosting influential tourism bodies and major global conferences positions the Emirate at the forefront of industry dialogue, demonstrating that we are shaping and not just participating in the future of travel. These platforms allowed us to showcase our long-term vision, secure new development opportunities, and build trust with investors, operators, and travel brands.
As a result, perceptions shifted rapidly, and Ras Al Khaimah became recognized not only as a destination for rapid tourism growth but as one with a clear vision and capability to deliver a strong luxury destination proposition. AC: Why is sustainability central to RAK’s premium travel strategy, and how do you balance environmental luxury expectations?

IR: Today’s travellers want to enjoy a holiday experience knowing that their presence contributes positively to the destination. Our development philosophy prioritizes low-density, high-quality projects that protect our landscapes and preserve cultural integrity. Operationally, by working closely with our hotels and attractions through our certification programmes like Responsible RAK, created in partnership with EarthCheck, we ensure that sustainability metrics are monitored and sustainable practices are embedded into operations and guest experience. This allows us to deliver elevated experiences while preserving the very elements that make those experiences luxurious in the first place. AC: During challenging global periods, RAK achieved record visitation. What leadership decisions proved most pivotal for maintaining growth and consumer confidence? IR: Our resilience in challenging times was rooted in quick, decisive action. For example, as tourism recovered from the pandemic, we focused on creating compelling, nature-led offerings that resonated with travellers seeking open spaces. We were agile in implementing world-class safety protocols early and communicated transparently to reassure travellers and industry partners. We also supported our hospitality partners with relief measures so that the entire tourism ecosystem remained strong. And during recent periods of geopolitical tensions and airspace disruptions, we were able to effectively communicate and reassure partners and travellers of the stability of the UAE. We also pivoted strategically toward regional markets to maintain visitor levels. These decisions built confidence at moments when visitors were cautious, and they positioned Ras Al Khaimah as one of the safest destinations during uncertainty. ISSUE 3 | DECEMBER 2025

The most successful destinations stay anchored in what is inherently unique. Authenticity is the only true competitive advantage.
AC: From your experience, what are the key principles any destination or luxury brand must follow when attempting to elevate their positioning in the global market? IR: In a globally competitive industry where so many great destinations are competing for the same traveller wallet, being distinctive and authentic is the only thing a destination or a brand should be to remain competitive. The most successful destinations and luxury brands have this in common. They’re anchored in authenticity, building their value proposition around what is inherently unique. They pursue quality over quantity, focusing on curated experiences that resonate with discerning travellers. And they invest in strong partnerships that elevate their credibility and amplify their reach. When these principles come together, the result is a destination that earns lasting relevance in the global luxury landscape.

The Wellness Details Female Travelers Notice (And Why They Matter to Your Bottom Line)
by neen james
Solo female travel is booming. According to American Express Business 2024 Global Travel Trends Report, 76% of Millennial and Gen Z travelers planned solo trips in 2024, with women leading this charge. Women now account for over half of adventure bookings, and they're not just passing through— they're evaluating every detail of your property with a discerning eye. I've noticed howVirtuoso

setup. And here's the non-negotiable: include a proper kettle. Not a coffee maker that can "also heat water," but a temperature-controlled kettle that lets her brew her green tea at 175°F or her matcha at the perfect temperature.
As someone who has spent decades working with luxury and legacy brands, I can tell you this: exceptional experiences aren't built on grand gestures alone. They're crafted through the accumulation of thoughtful details that show you truly understand each guest. And when it comes to female travelers—particularly those traveling solo—wellness isn't a department, it's a lens through which they view your entire property. The Morning Ritual You're Getting Wrong Before we even talk about your gym or spa, let's discuss the moment that sets the tone for her entire day: the morning beverage ritual. That sad single-serve coffee maker with mystery pods from 2022 (gross)? It's telling her you don't understand wellness at all. Female travelers—especially those prioritizing wellness—have specific morning routines. Some won't start their day without a proper espresso. Others are dedicated to matcha (you know I I am obsessed with KoMatcha for daily energy) or premium loose-leaf tea. These aren't preferences; they're rituals that ground them while traveling.
Stock the room with quality coffee beans or grounds, a selection of premium teas (green, herbal, black) from brands likeFortnum & Mason, and yes—offer matcha powder with a bamboo whisk for the guests who know the difference. This one detail can be the difference between a good review and a glowing recommendation, and she will tell all her friends and colleagues about it too, post it on Instagram, and you have created a shareworthy moment.
One thoughtful morning ritual can be the difference between a good review and a glowing recommendation.
The Sleep She's Actually Trying to Get Sleep tourism has emerged as a significant trend, with travelers prioritizing destinations and accommodations that offer environments conducive to high-quality rest. Female travelers value their sleep—it's non-negotiable for wellness. Yet city hotels continue to overlook one of the simplest, most cost-effective amenities that could transform a guest's experience: complimentary earbuds. Not the cheap foam ones that fall out. Quality, comfortable ear buds or earplugs that actually block the 3 AM garbage truck, the couple arguing next door, or the relentless hum of urban life outside the window. Include them in your turndown service or place them prominently on the bedside table in attractive packaging that doesn't scream "we bought these in bulk." Pair this with a curated pillow menu and blackout curtains that actually black out light (not the ones with that annoying gap in the middle), a white noise machine or bluetooth speaker so she can play her own sleep sounds, and suddenly you're not just providing a bed— you're providing rest. And rest, for the wellness traveler, is everything. The Protein Problem (And How You're Probably Getting It Wrong) Open your minibar right now. What do you see? Chocolate, chips, nuts if you're lucky, and
For items requiring refrigeration, like Greek yogurt cups and hard-boiled eggs, make them readily available at your hotel gift shop or market —somewhere she can grab them easily without having to navigate a full restaurant experience. But here's what really separates the properties that understand wellness from those just performing it: your room service menu. She's looking at it right now, and she's noticing whether you've included the macros. Protein options on your room service menu should clearly list calories, protein, carbs, and fats. An egg white omelet that says "28g protein, 4g carbs, 8g fat" tells her you understand that wellness travelers make informed choices. A generic menu description tells her you're guessing. This isn't about catering to diet culture—it's about respecting that many wellness-focused travelers track their nutrition as part of their health routine, and you're either making that easy or forcing them to order something else. The Gym She Didn't Want to Use (But Will Tell Everyone About) Your gym equipment tells a story. Is it the same treadmill that was there in 2008? Are the resistance bands nowhere to be found? Female travelers notice. They're looking for Peloton bikes, TRX equipment, quality resistance bands, foam rollers, yoga blocks, yoga mats, and kettlebells. But here's what they're really looking
perhaps a lonely protein bar that's been there since 2019. Meanwhile, your female guests have been to the gym at 6 AM, skipped breakfast because the restaurant doesn't open until 7, and are now staring at overpriced cashews, wondering why you don't understand their needs.
for: a fully stocked fridge with electrolyte drinks, protein shakes, and premium water options.
Smart properties like the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center led by Cornelia Samara (one of my favorite well-equipped, wellness hotels) are reimagining their in-room offerings with shelf-stable protein-forward options: protein drinks, jerky, nut butter packets, and quality protein bars with visible nutritional information. In Boston, the Dagny Hotel has a whole fridge in their gym equipped with protein shakes, snacks, and healthy waters!
Many female travelers follow fitness experts' programs likeJennifer Jacobs ofLadder, and they want to enter your gym, know you have the equipment they need, and then get on with their busy day. Give your hotel another shareworthy, Instagrammable moment for your female travelers.

The gym isn't just a room with equipment—it's a statement about whether wellness is authentic to your brand or just another checkbox on your amenities list.
The Bathroom That Reveals Everything Your bathroom products are being judged. Not just for quality (though that matters), but for whether they tell a cohesive story.
Hotels are increasingly offering more adventurous outdoor activities informed by local culture and tradition, so why shouldn't your bathroom products reflect your destination's essence? If you have a magnifying mirror, or a hairdryer that includes a diffuser (for us curly hair girlies), we are even more grateful! Consider offering scented candles or take-home products that allow guests to continue the experience long after checkout. I love that hotels like AKA Hotels+Hotel Residences have a signature scent, and I am obsessed with the EDITION hotels scent. I noticed Mark Driscoll and the team at AKA Washington Circle offered candles for sale for the holidays - so smart! When a guest lights a candle three months later and is transported back to the feeling of your property, that's not marketing—that's alchemy. And that's when she becomes your most valuable advocate. Partner with local humane societies to offer dog-walking experiences. Host puppy yoga sessions in your garden. I love AKA Alexandria, marketing manager, Andi Stiles idea for puppy, and pilates! So cute. She also organized Silent Book Reading Parties with Old Town Books in Alexandria led by Ally Kirkpatrick , a wonderful addition to the local community and to the visiting traveler. These aren't gimmicks—they're recognition that travelers are prioritizing wellness and self-care, and they want to do it in ways that feel authentic and connected to place. The Safety Signals She's Reading Solo female travelers are safety-conscious. They notice well-lit pathways, visible security presence, and whether your staff has been trained to recognize when a woman traveling alone might need discreet assistance. Please remind your front desk team never to mention the guests' room number; women hate it when others can hear their room, which makes them feel less safe.

They're not just travelers; they're your marketing department. One exceptional experience with a solo female traveler can cascade into family bookings, corporate recommendations, increased group bookings, and social proof that money simply cannot buy. In my book Exceptional Experiences: Five Luxury Levers to Elevate Every Aspect of Your Business, I emphasize that luxury is felt in the details, it's personalized and customized and many hotels overlook these small details. It's not about having the fanciest lobby or the most expensive sheets. It's about understanding that when a guest reaches for her kettle to make matcha before her morning workout, finds quality ear buds on her bedside table, or discovers a room service menu that respects her nutritional choices with clear macro listings, you've just told her: "We see you. We thought of you. You matter here." What This Means for Your Property If you are responsible for decisions in the hospitality industry, review every touchpoint through a wellness lens. Audit your in-room beverage options, sleep amenities, minibar offerings, gift shop selections, room service menus (add those macros!), gym amenities, bathroom products, and local experience recommendations.
One exceptional experience with a solo female traveler can ripple into bookings and social proof money can’t buy. Why This Matters (Beyond Being the Right Thing to Do) Women make the overwhelming majority of travel bookings—for themselves, their families, their parents, colleagues, and friends—and represent 70% of hotel website visits. 120

Train your staff to recognize and respond to the specific needs of solo female travelers without making assumptions or being patronizing. Most importantly, remember that these guests are evaluating whether your commitment to wellness is authentic or performative. They can tell the difference.
