South Florida has always existed in its own rhythm—where the season arrives not with snow, but with freshly dragged arenas, polished boots, and a social calendar that hums with momentum. As 2026 unfolds and the season is now in mid-swing, that energy feels unmistakably heightened. The equestrian world is back in full stride, Palm Beach society is buzzing, and the sense of movement and renewal is everywhere. Is everyone moving here? It certainly feels that way.

This issue of Wellington Quarterly explores the intersection of tradition and transformation—what we preserve, what we refine, and what we reimagine—within the uniquely layered world of Wellington and Palm Beach.

We begin with Designer Coffee Wars, where fashion houses are opening cafés as quickly as they launch collections, turning caffeine into couture. From there, we explore the bold confidence of jewelry stacking—an art form where expression takes precedence and personal style leads the way. In the home, the bar cart makes a confident return, blending sophistication with personality and reminding us that gracious entertaining never goes out of style.

Wellness remains central to life here. We examine intermittent fasting and its growing body of research, alongside conversations around mental clarity, balance,

and grounding in a fast-paced world. We also take a thoughtful look at the evolving landscape of slimming surgery—approached with transparency, innovation, and empowerment, free from stigma.

Not all reinvention is technological. Some of the most meaningful markers of modern etiquette remain refreshingly simple: handwritten notes, thoughtful gestures, generosity, and grace. At the same time, we look ahead with a feature on AI-powered shopping, where virtual stylists and predictive technology are reshaping how luxury is discovered and experienced.

Design lovers will be drawn to our featured home by Annie Santulli, a masterclass in modern Palm Beach glamour—architectural, art-driven, and deeply livable. And because Wellington will always be a horse town at heart, we explore the fascinating frontier of genetically engineered ponies, offering a glimpse into what may shape the future of sport and breeding.

As always, our style edits bring the issue together— spotlighting standout accessories, thoughtful design details, and the craftsmanship that defines life in and around the ring.

As the season continues, we hope this issue reflects the energy, elegance, and evolution of life in Wellington today.

THE ICON REBORN

A Mid-Century Legend Meets Modern Mastery

Images provided by Grant Cox

Few machines in automotive history command both reverence and pulse-quickening desire quite like the 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe. As the debut of the C2 generation, it marked a seismic shift for Corvette, from the soft, rounded charm of the ’50s to a silhouette that was sharper, bolder, and defiantly futuristic. Its bisected rear window polarized critics at the time but has since become one of the most recognizable and coveted elements in American car design.

Power matched beauty: lightweight fiberglass, purposeful aerodynamics, and a choice of muscular small-block V8s gave the Split-Window real athleticism. Inside, the cockpit enveloped the driver in aircraft-inspired gauges and sculptural lines, making the experience feel more jet fighter than automobile. And because the split window lived for only a single model year, its rarity elevated it from collectible to cultural artifact.

Combining the landscapes, barns and warehouses across America is Heartland Customs, the Oklahoma-based artisans rewriting what a classic Corvette can be. Their acclaimed ‘SPECVETTE’ program takes the sacred geometry of vintage Corvettes and infuses them with modern supercar engineering.

Every element is obsessively crafted: triple-plated chrome, new hardware throughout, DOT-approved glass, and interiors wrapped in European leathers with hidden fasteners and bespoke electronics. Custom gauges preserve vintage charm while offering contemporary precision. Underneath the bodylines lives a thoroughly modern soul: a bespoke chassis, independent suspension borrowed from today’s performance machines, upgraded brakes, rackand-pinion steering, and modern, high-output engines that deliver smooth, confident power. We know Corvette enthusiasts love the looks and style of the classic models but demand modern performance and comforts. We’ve spent years designing and engineering a line of custom, classic models built to perform at a supercar level with the reliability that today’s drivers are accustomed to”, says owner Jeff Page.

Recent auction results of Heartland retromods have exceeded $600,000, making it one of the most talked about builds ever offered.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

FASTING The Pause That Powers Everything

Fasting or “Intermittent Fasting” if you want to sound like you read a medical journal for fun, has graduated from monkish ritual to boardroom-brag. Everyone’s doing it: CEOs, athletes, and that one friend who insists she’s “not hungry, just detoxing.” But beyond the hype, science says they’re onto something. When practiced with common sense (and maybe a sparkling water in hand), fasting can reset metabolism, improve heart health, and sharpen brain function. Putting it in another form, fasting is less about starvation and more about strategy and unlike the weekly Ozempic injection, it’s free, natural, and doesn’t come with a waiting list at your pharmacy.

THE WEIGHT-LOSS AND A CELLULAR SPRING CLEANING

Let’s be honest: most people start fasting because they want to see less of themselves in the mirror in the good way. A 2025 meta-analysis found that fasting significantly reduced body weight and BMI while improving cholesterol levels. Harvard’s researchers added that alternate-day fasting outperformed oldschool dieting by about 2.8 pounds(!) roughly the equivalent of one long weekend of bad decisions. But it’s not just about the scale. When you stop eating every few hours, your body flips the switch from burning bagels to burning stored fat. Scientists call it “metabolic flexibility.” You can call it finally getting rid of those love handles.

Here’s where fasting gets fascinating. After 16 hours or so, your body begins autophagy (big word), the biological equivalent of taking out the trash. Cells repair themselves, inflammation cools, and you start to feel that mysterious sense of “lightness” influencers love to post about. Think of it as a detox that works, because your liver (and not a $14 green juice) is doing the heavy lifting. Studies show lower levels of C-reactive protein and interleukin-6, meaning fasting can help quiet the chronic inflammation linked to heart disease, arthritis, and even aging itself. By this time, you will thank yourself for skipping that venti-macchiato with whipped cream. It turns out, skipping lunch occasionally might add a few years to your life. Observational studies found that routine fasters have a 45% lower death rate and 71% lower risk of heart failure.

Meanwhile, the brain seems to love a little metabolic suspense. In trials with older adults, intermittent fasting improved memory, focus, and executive function (throw that around the office) possibly because it reduces neuroinflammation and boosts synaptic repair. Translation: your brain starts acting like it’s well-rested and hasn’t checked email since 2012! And your mood? Well apparently, a little hunger makes some people happier. (Go figure.)

MAKE IT SAFE

As in anything, your health comes first so understand that fasting is not for everyone. People with diabetes, those who are pregnant, or anyone with a history of disordered eating should talk to a doctor before skipping dinner in the name of longevity. Start slowly, stay hydrated, and eat like an adult when you do eat, which means whole foods, protein, colorful vegetables and fiber. Coffee counts for morale, not nutrition and that’s COFFEE, not 12-ingredient drive thru’s. Remember: fasting is a tool, not a punishment. You’re giving your body a break, not sending it to boot camp. You can thank me later….

Let’s take a look at the health trackers currently dominating wrists, fingers, and even shirt collars—combining beauty, brains, and biofeedback in ways that feel distinctly modern.

Fasting isn’t about deprivation but rather it’s about metabolic housekeeping. When you stop feeding constantly, your body finally gets to catch up on chores: burning fat, repairing cells, calming inflammation, and even giving your brain a little tune-up. It really comes down to less in your mouth (at least for a little while) maybe all you need. This is nature’s way of reminding you that sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do for your health is absolutely nothing… at least for a few hours.

Steve Harrington is a former athletic trainer at UNH who at the age of 60 discovered the art of fasting and can now fit in his college jeans.

THE REVIVAL OF RITUAL Why Old-World Indulgences

Are the New Luxury

In a world addicted to speed, where everything from groceries to relationships can be delivered by app, a quiet rebellion is underway. We call it The Revival of Ritual. A return to the tactile, the intentional, and the beautifully unnecessary. It’s a movement defined not by efficiency, but by elegance. Because true luxury, it seems, isn’t about having time, but rather about taking it.

There’s something seductive about the slow The careful enjoyment of ‘toasting’ a cigar. The winding of a mechanical watch. The weight of a fountain pen gliding across creamy linen stationery, sealed with a drop of monogrammed wax. It’s beautiful. Each act, trivial and unthinkable by modern standards, has become an antidote to digital fatigue. It really is a small ceremony in what is otherwise a chaotic world. These gestures don’t rush; they linger and demand presence and attention. And that, more than any tech innovation or minimalist gadget, feels like the rarest currency of all.

Take cigars, for instance. Once relegated to smoky backrooms and grandfatherly tropes, the cigar is back and with style. Boutique lounges are cropping up from Miami to Mayfair, blending old-school ritual with new-school design. Think marble humidors, curated pairings, and the low hum of jazz. The appeal isn’t just in the smoke, it’s in the ceremony: a crisp cutting, toasting the end as you roll it through your fingertips, harmonizing the soft blaze of the flame and savoring it all inch by inch. A cigar isn’t consumed; it’s experienced. It’s a declaration that not everything should be done in a hurry.

The same could be said for mechanical watches. The touch and feel of the movement softly indenting your fingertips as you carefully activate the springs. Owning a finely crafted watch today isn’t about telling time; it’s about telling taste. Each turn of the crown is a nod to precision, to craftsmanship, to patience. It’s a tiny ballet of gears and grace, looping endlessly as a reminder that true luxury doesn’t need charging overnight.

Then there’s the handwritten note, sealed in wax and sent not for necessity but for nuance. The note says, “I thought of you long enough to sit still.” It shows affection, the kind that can’t be swiped away. Using a vintage fountain pen, the gold nib gliding across linen, makes the pleasure for the writer and the reader something to enjoy, even if separated by distance. As the ink settles, you give it a gentle “blow” to prevent smudges, slide it into a crafted lined envelope and seal it away for its travel. Your time for their time is priceless.

The same goes for flowers just because. No real occasion, no obligation, just the quiet art of making someone’s day more beautiful. You feel the recipient’s surprise and admiration. The thoughtfulness lingers for days in a spot chosen by the recipient, which makes it all the better.

Lastly, the one we love the most, is the understated power move of quietly picking up the check by slipping your card to the server ahead of time. A gesture so rare in its selflessness that it feels revolutionary. Doing so is an act of kindness, appreciation and favor that will long be remembered…and hopefully copied. A power move? Perhaps, but look at it as a gesture you wish you could be on the receiving end of. As with all of these, they’re private symphonies of grace.

perfectly tied bows make any transaction feel special. Even perfumers are bottling the feeling, using tobacco leaf, ink, cedarwood, and smoke. You may have ignored these scents in the past, but now you won’t. All these rituals give our days rhythm, our spaces texture, and our lives meaning.

Fashion, fragrance, and lifestyle brands have taken notice as well. Retailers, Loro Piana, Ralph Lauren, and Berluti take exceptional care when processing a sale and boxing a purchase. Thick coordinated tissue, sturdy gold enameled boxes, and

We see it as a recalibration of what luxury means. For a generation raised on instant gratification, slowness itself has become aspirational. Lighting a cigar, winding a watch, sealing a letter, ordering the bouquet: all require something tech cannot automate: attention. And attention, in a distracted world, is the ultimate mark of sophistication

THE CONFIDENCE ARCHITECT

Inside the World of Dr. Kandace Kichler, MD

Ifirst met Dr. Kandace Kichler years ago through a mutual friend, and the moment she walked into the room I remember thinking, She is such a vibe

She radiated this warm, feminine, effortlessly girlish energy—the kind that instantly makes you feel seen, comfortable, and genuinely connected. Polished but grounded, confident yet inviting, she had that unmistakable glow of a woman who knows exactly who she is. But beyond the presence, it was her engine. The quiet intensity of someone who builds things, someone who creates, pivots, innovates, and keeps moving forward. Over time, I came to understand that Dr. Kichler is more than a surgeon; she is a serial entrepreneur with a rare combination of ambition, creativity, and emotional intelligence.

What continues to inspire me is the way she embodies every role. That of a mother, wife, doctor, businesswoman, and fiercely loyal friend, all with intention and grace. Her life is a study in balance: spirituality, family, business, wellness, and creativity woven together in a way that appears effortless, though it’s clearly anchored in discipline and heart. It’s rare to meet someone who can hold so much and still lead with kindness. Perhaps that’s why she stayed imprinted in my mind for years.

As the aesthetics world began shifting toward modern, minimally invasive techniques, my curiosity grew. I found myself researching the new era of cosmetic innovation— approaches promising beautiful results with less downtime, less discomfort, and far more precision than the traditional methods I had known. And suddenly, her name resurfaced. I remembered the warmth. The intelligence. The unmistakably feminine presence. It felt obvious she was the perfect guide into this new landscape of aesthetics. So I scheduled a visit— not as a patient seeking treatment, but as someone eager to learn, observe, and understand the future of beauty. Walking into her office felt like reconnecting with someone you already trust. At one point in our conversation, she said something so simple, yet so authentically her: “I just want people to feel good.”

Beneath the inviting presence is one of the most qualified surgeons in her field. Dr. Kichler is a double board-certified surgeon, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Her training in both cosmetic and weight-loss surgery gives her a uniquely holistic understanding of the human body and the emotional journey behind aesthetic change. Her office mirrors her ethos: compassionate, judgment-free, empowering, and deeply personalized. Her dedication to education extends beyond the practice as the host of The Slimming Surgeon Podcast, where she breaks down beauty, wellness, and confidence with refreshing honesty and a calm, relatable voice.

Dr. Kichler has become known for blending advanced aesthetics with wellness in a way that feels modern, feminine, and deeply thoughtful. One of her signature offerings is AirSculpt, a minimally invasive contouring technique that delivers refined results without general anesthesia or the downtime of traditional surgery. Patients love that it enhances their silhouette while fitting—even gracefully—into real life. Her expertise in weight-loss medicine expands that approach even further. She provides prescription-grade peptides, hormone-optimized therapies, and metabolic support designed to help patients shed stubborn fat, regain balance, and feel genuinely revitalized.

For those seeking more transformative results, Dr. Kichler brings a sculptor’s eye to every procedure. Her breast work— augmentations, lifts, reductions—is known for elegance and proportion. Her body contouring results, from tummy tucks

to Lipo 360, fat transfer to post–weight-loss skin tightening, reflect her commitment to natural, harmonious silhouettes. She also offers feminine wellness procedures with utmost sensitivity, as well as facial rejuvenation surgeries such as lip lifts and earlobe repair. Every outcome feels intentional and beautifully individualized. Her injectable philosophy echoes her surgical one: natural, fresh, and unmistakably you. Using Botox, Dysport, fillers, Sculptra, and Radiesse, she refines contours, restores youthful volume, and smooths expression lines with an artist’s restraint.

Believing true beauty begins with wellness, she offers therapies that support energy, clarity, metabolic balance, and skin vitality—glutathione, MIC+B12, hair-growth treatments, lash-growth solutions, and hormone-balancing therapies like sermorelin. The result is an approach that feels comprehensive, restorative, and empowering.

Meeting Dr. Kandace Kichler leaves an impression. Returning years later revealed the full depth of her talent, heart, and instinctive understanding of confidence. She is that rare combination of technical mastery, aesthetic intuition, and unmistakable feminine energy—the kind that makes you feel beautiful before the treatment even begins.

She doesn’t just transform appearances. She transforms how people feel in their bodies.

I DIDN’T GO LOOKING FOR CANDY CANE. Candy Cane found me.

Iwas at Dr. Barr’s office in West Palm Beach— already someone who knows her way around aesthetics—but still searching for that elusive unicorn: a medical aesthetic professional who understands restraint, regeneration, and the difference between “refreshed” and “who did your face?”

Then Candy walked in.

First impression? Sunshine. Blonde, bright, warm, instantly disarming. The kind of person who makes you feel relaxed before you even sit down. And while we were chatting—about life, about skin, about absolutely nothing and everything—I had this quiet realization: she wasn’t just talking. She was watching. Studying. Taking it all in. Facial movement, skin quality, energy. Intake by conversation. Genius.

Candy has more than 20 years in the aesthetic industry, and it shows—not in an intimidating way, but in a confident, effortless way. She’s not satiated in her approach. She’s intentional. Thoughtful. She believes the patient’s own body should do the heavy lifting—not the syringe—and honestly, that philosophy alone made me trust her immediately.

I was specifically looking for someone who could microneedle platinum biologics exosomes—something I had discovered years ago and deeply believe in for

stimulating collagen, improving skin texture, and calming inflammation. It’s not a trendy treatment. It’s a smart one. And finding someone who truly understands how to use it properly? Rare. Candy didn’t blink. She knew.

Her aesthetic philosophy is refreshingly sane. Yes, there’s a place for hyaluronic acid fillers—but her true artistry lies in biostimulators and neuromodulators, using toxin lightly, artfully, and strategically sprinkled across the face, neck, and chest. No frozen faces. No overfilled cheeks. You still look like yourself. Just better rested. Brighter.

Softer around the edges.

Candy thinks in plans, not quick fixes. She loves combining chemical peels, laser therapies, microneedling, exosomes, growth factors, and medicalgrade skincare into treatments that actually work with your skin. Healthy skin first. Everything else follows.

And here’s the part that really sold me: she will absolutely talk you out of things. Candy guides patients toward slower, more natural approaches, giving tissue time to respond so results look better—and last longer. She wants her patients to look pretty and fresh, not tired or oddly aged by aesthetics. And frankly, that honesty is rare.

So if you’re new to town and quietly asking around, wondering where the people-in-the know go—now you know.

Candy Cane is an expert. An artist. A listener. A ray of sunshine with a syringe—used sparingly and brilliantly. Finding her felt a little magical. And once you do, you’ll wonder how you ever trusted anyone else.

THE POWER OF SUBTLE CHANGE

Precision, balance, and the modern approach to the eye lift

There is a particular confidence that comes from looking better without looking altered—not overdone, not obvious, simply refreshed.

For me, that confidence arrived in the most unexpected way: through a conversation, a mirror, and a level of precision I didn’t know was possible.

I recently underwent an eye lift with Dr. Fredric M. Barr, a board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Palm Beach Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery. What struck me most wasn’t just the ease of the experience—but the way he sees. Within moments of standing side by side in the mirror, he calmly pointed out details I had never noticed in a lifetime of looking at my own reflection: one eye slightly larger than the other, one cheekbone subtly higher. It wasn’t criticism. It was clarity.

That moment reframed everything. I realized this is where modern aesthetic surgery truly begins—not with trends or promises, but with proportion, balance, and respect for individuality. Dr. Barr doesn’t isolate features or chase perfection. He looks at the face as a whole, understanding how the eyes relate to the brows, the cheekbones, and the structure beneath the skin. The goal is never to make someone look “done,” but to restore what time has gently softened.

What distinguishes his work most is restraint. There is no push, no pressure, no sense of urgency. Education comes first. Conversation follows. Only then does a plan take shape—one that feels collaborative, thoughtful, and deeply personal. His approach feels guided as much by what he chooses not to do as by what he does.

Equally important is how the procedure itself is performed. Dr. Barr completes eye lifts entirely in-office using local anesthesia, a decision rooted in patient health rather than convenience. General anesthesia does not replicate natural sleep; it temporarily suppresses normal brain communication, alters neurotransmitter balance, and requires the brain to recalibrate once the drugs wear off. This is why many patients experience lingering fatigue, mental fog, or a sense of emotional flatness afterward—effects that, while often temporary, represent a real neurological burden.

For a focused, delicate procedure like an eye lift, that level of systemic stress is often unnecessary. Local anesthesia allows the brain to remain intact and responsive. Patients breathe on their own, cognitive networks remain undisturbed, and recovery begins immediately—without asking the body or mind to rebound from a full shutdown. From a health perspective, it is a gentler, more precise approach that supports clearer, faster recovery.

Friends later remarked that I looked rested, refreshed—but nothing about me looked altered. And that, I learned, is the point. The most successful eye lifts don’t announce themselves. They restore balance quietly, allowing the face to feel like itself again.

I initially did the procedure to restore the look of my eyes—which it did, and then some. What surprised me was how much impact that small, focused change had on my overall appearance. My eyes looked more open, more balanced, and in turn, my entire face looked subtly refreshed. Just as unexpectedly, I found myself equally pleased with how it made me feel—lighter, more awake, and no longer compensating for a heaviness I hadn’t realized I was carrying.

Without that strain, my vision felt clearer. My peripheral awareness sharper. I wasn’t unconsciously working anymore. I was simply seeing the way I once did—and that clarity translated into a surprising sense of energy and ease.

Dr. Barr represents a modern philosophy of aesthetic medicine—one rooted in subtlety, proportion, and respect for individuality. His work doesn’t chase transformation. It honors continuity.

The goal was never to stay the same. It was to look more awake, more balanced, and undeniably better—quietly. For anyone considering an eye lift and looking for a result that prioritizes balance, health, and discretion, Dr. Barr’s approach sets a remarkably high standard.

THE HEART OF HONESTY Inside the Truth, Faith, and Vulnerability of JB Copeland

OPENING THE DOOR TO A DIFFERENT KIND OF CONVERSATION

There are some conversations that stay with you long after they’re over—not because of the words exchanged, but because of the way someone shows up in them. That’s what happened the first time I spoke with JB Copeland, the creator of The Sappy Hour Podcast and the author of his newly released book, Sappy Medium: The Rough Draft. Before his voice reached millions, JB spent years guiding young people as a youth pastor. When his life reached a breaking point, he sought help. Now, over a year and a half into recovery, he speaks from a place of lived wisdom, not theory.

A PRESENCE YOU NOTICE IMMEDIATELY

JB is handsome, undeniably so, with kind eyes—the kind that make you feel as if you’re running into a friend you haven’t seen in years. From the very start, he was open, even as my questions turned deeply personal. His vulnerability felt natural, and no question was too difficult. He showed up as himself, fully and honestly.

FIRST QUESTION: WHO DO YOU ADMIRE?

I asked him my first question: “You’ve met a lot of people on your journey. Who’s someone you admire, and what qualities in them have really stuck with you?”

He leaned back and went quiet for what felt like 10 seconds, then looked up with a softness that hadn’t been there moments earlier. “My wife,” he said. “Chloe.”

When he spoke about Chloe, everything shifted. JB’s entire presence softened. He told me she has taught him what true patience looks like—not the kind you talk about, but the kind you live. She taught him self-awareness by modeling it. She’s always the first to help her family, the first to show up for the people she loves. He admires her deeply. In the simplest, most genuine way, she has shaped him, grounded him, and helped him become the man he is today.

SPEAKING UP TO SAVE OTHERS

After we talked about Chloe, I asked: “What inspired you to start speaking so openly about your past experiences?”

He told me he grew up in the church, the son of a pastor.

As a boy, he believed pastors were perfect. But he was struggling emotionally with no safe way to express it. That silence became a root of his addictive behaviors. JB said that speaking openly now has allowed him to break through to the younger generation—especially young men. Many have reached out to tell him that if he hadn’t spoken up, they may never have sought help. His vulnerability gave them permission.

REACHING MEN WHO FEEL ALONE

JB told me there's a major misconception about recovery. Many believe people in active struggle need tough love. JB disagrees.

“Men battling addiction or mental health issues are already beating themselves up.”

He said they’re drowning in shame, fear, and negative selftalk. What they need isn’t more pressure. They need reassurance. They need light in the dark. They need someone to believe in them when they cannot believe in themselves.

He also believes deeply in spiritual fitness and the gift of desperation—what many call rock bottom. For men afraid to seek help, he urges brutal honesty:

“Just say it. Leave it up to God.”

Honesty, he says, creates the path to your truest purpose. Honesty is freedom.

WRITER’S REFLECTION

Interviewing JB Copeland stayed with me long after our conversation ended. What struck me most was how genuinely excited he was to answer my questions. He didn’t hold back. We laughed, shared stories, and listened—really listened. I walked away having learned a lot from him, and quietly, I think he learned a little something from me too. That’s the beauty of honest conversation: you both walk away changed.

IT’S NEVER JUST ONE THING

I’ve done microneedling for over a decade—long enough to know that it works. What keeps me committed isn’t that it’s a fad or something novel; it’s the results. Real results come from consistency, precision, and truly understanding how treatments work together over a period of time. Recently, I introduced Platinum Biologics exosomes into my routine, microneedled directly into the skin. The shift was immediate and amazing. Healing accelerated. Skin quality improved. I also noticed visible improvement in hair growth along my hairline—something that speaks to how powerful microneedling can be when it’s done correctly and consistently. Microneedling itself is deceptively simple. At its core, it signals the body to regenerate—stimulating collagen, strengthening the skin barrier, and improving texture and tone. But technique matters. Timing matters. And who’s doing the work matters. At

Tringali in Palm Beach Gardens, my treatments are performed by Mackenzie, whose precision and understanding of the skin elevate the entire experience. There’s intention behind every session—it’s never just procedural. What truly sets Tringali apart is their functional medicine approach. Skin is never treated in isolation; it’s understood as a reflection of internal health—hormones, inflammation, stress, and lifestyle. Treatments are individualized, adjusted, and strategic. I follow a schedule. I have a system. And that system works because it’s guided by expertise. I can say this with confidence: without Tringali and their holistic approach, I wouldn’t look or feel the way I do today. Staying in the game isn’t about one miracle solution. It’s about aligned treatments, done consistently, with people who respect the science and the process. Microneedling—especially when paired with exosomes—isn’t a shortcut. It’s a practice. And when it’s done correctly, it shows.

AYE AYE CAPTAIN!

The Pea Coat: The Icon That Never Sinks

The pea coat. That double-breasted wool masterpiece that somehow makes you look both like a submarine commander and a man who reads the weekend edition of The Financial Times in a café that doesn’t allow paper cups. It never really went out of style but now it seems like it IS THE STYLE.

Start with the name: pea coat. It’s not named after the vegetable, no, it comes from the Dutch word pijjekker — “pij” referring to the coarse wool cloth it was made from. Sailors in the 1700s wore them to survive wind, rain, and the occasional mutiny. Fast-forward a few centuries, and now you’ll find them paired with $800 Chelsea boots and thick turtlenecks that make you feel like a hot coffee in a cafe named “Anchor & Bean.”

A proper pea coat is double-breasted, heavy enough to block a gale, and has lapels so wide you could land a small plane on them. Traditionally navy blue, it’s now available in every shade from caramel to charcoal. The buttons are usually oversized and embossed with anchors or in some cases gilded brass knobs, in case you forget that this coat was once meant for men who shouted things like “Hoist the mainsail!”

But what’s most magical about the pea coat, however, is its ability to transform anyone: man or woman for that matter. Put one on and you instantly gain gravitas. Even your slouch corrects itself because the pea coat demands a posture and a salute.

The pea coat can be worn with anything. Wear it with jeans, and you’re “effortlessly European,” pair it with a turtleneck, and you’re a tortured novelist. Add sunglasses and wool hat, and suddenly you’re a secret agent waiting for a coded message from Tom Cruise. There’s no wrong move. As with many fashion icons, the pea coat has transcended into the lines of many women’s designers. Its bold drape is often skirted and lengthened for women’s wear, sometimes adding a belt to accentuate the waist and embroidered crest to go along with the thick stand-up collar. Fashion historians will tell you that the pea coat never really goes out of style because it never tried too hard to be in it. It’s classic, stoic, and vaguely heroic. It looks just as good in a Ralph

Lauren campaign as it does on a man walking his dog through Soho or on The First Lady as she descends the steps of Air Force One.

Today’s versions are lighter, softer, and sometimes made with recycled fabrics and many leading brands (like Burberry) have taken the style into poplins, leather and linens for year round nautical style. So next time you see one hanging in a shop, try it on. Look in the mirror. Tilt your chin slightly, squint like you’ve seen some things at sea, and whisper to yourself: “Secure the lines!”

IT BAGS GO MICRO

Once upon a time, the “It Bag” was a status symbol you could spot from across the room.

Think the slouchy Balenciaga Motorcycle on a model-off-duty circa 2006, the eternally coveted Chanel Flap, or the Hermès Birkin swinging open from a perfectly manicured wrist like a polished declaration of arrival. These were bags that didn’t just carry your belongings, they carried meaning, social code and presence. But fashion evolves, and right now, practicality has gracefully exited the chat. Minimalism, irony, and the age of hyper-curation have pushed the It Bag into a new identity. It has shrunk…dramatically. The Micro It Bag: the luxury world’s most impractical and yet most irresistible obsession is back on the runway, the streets and on store shelves.

When Jacquemus sent the Chiquito down the runway in 2019, a bag barely capable of carrying a single Air Pod, the world laughed. Then it sold out. Overnight, the micro bag became both a punchline and a power move. To own one said, “I don’t need to carry anything. I have people (or at least pockets). The fashion world followed quickly. Louis Vuitton’s Nano Speedy became a collector’s talisman. Chanel shrank their quilted classics into accessories that dangle from belt loops like charms. Even Hermès, the cathedral of enduring, investment-grade leather, joined the tiny-scale revolution with petite Kellys and Birkin’s that look as if they’ve been washed hot and tumble-dried. Prada’s micro-Re-Edition sells as fast as its full-size sibling. Gucci’s micro-Diana with its bamboo handle, now

doll-scaled, has become one of the most photographed bags of the year. Balenciaga released a micro-City bag which offers provocation in the brand’s native language. Among the most admired are Dior’s micro renditions: Lady Dior, Caro, and 30

Tod bag photo by Purseblog

Montaigne, all miniaturized to palm-sized elegance. Crafted in lambskin, lined in goatskin, finished with the familiar “D-I-O-R” charms — they are tiny marvels of craftsmanship. A fashion blogger recently said: “They quite literally fit in the palm of your hand… what they lack in space, they make up for in charm.” Indeed. It seems that the smaller the bag, the bigger the brag.

Some look at it as another piece of jewelry, worn high on the wrist like a bangle or clipped to the hip like a charm, even dangling from the fingers sometimes accustomed to grocery bags. Think of it as the luxury of inconvenience where designers are once again playing with scale and extremes. There are ultra minis at one end, oversized slouch at the other, both emphasizing silhouette and presence rather than functionality. The micro bag’s magnetic pull lies in its deliberate uselessness. It doesn’t hold your laptop. It sometimes doesn’t even hold your phone and occasionally, it barely holds a key and lip balm. And that’s the point, isn’t it? In an era defined by efficiency, seamless syncing, and the constant hum of being reachable, the micro bag is rebellion disguised as accessory. It is the perfect foil to our overflowing tote-bags-as-life-containers. A boundary, perhaps a wink, a pocket-sized manifesto against the title of doing the most. Hold it delicately and proudly. And, of course, fashion being fashion, irony always becomes commerce.

But fear not ladies with closet walls shelved with totes, flaps, buckets and neverfulls. The Birkin will always reign. The Goyard tote will always schlep. The micro bag isn’t replacing anything, it’s reframing what “It” means with wit, proportion and presence.

STACK ATTACK

The Power Play of Layered Jewelry

Minimalism had a good run. Clean lines and single delicate chains ruled the jewelry box for years, whispering “effortless” in every lifestyle spread. But the pendulum has swung. Today, the look that signals true fashion confidence is maximal layering, necklaces stacked like a curated gallery wall, bracelets clinking in sync, and rings that practically require a roadmap. When it comes to jewelry right now, more isn’t just more…it’s the point. Fashion editors love the sustainability angle too: layering lets old favorites feel new again. Instead of buying a single showpiece every season, you remix what you own, adding just one or two fresh accents. It’s creative and surprisingly conscious.

Start at the neck, where layering transforms everyday outfits into instant statements. The formula is simple, but the effect is electric: begin with a choker or short chain, add a mid-length pendant, then drape something longer and bolder. Play with textures like smooth snake chains against chunky Cuban links, gem-encrusted charms alongside heirloom medallions. What about mixed metals, you might ask? Not only allowed but encouraged. Think gold with oxidized silver, rose gold with platinum. The modern stack thrives on tension and surprise. Pro tip from stylists: create a “visual anchor,” one piece that commands attention, like a vintage coin necklace or an oversized locket. The surrounding chains act like backup

dancers, framing the star and giving depth. With the right stack, a white T-shirt suddenly reads like an $800 runway piece.

ARM PARTIES ARE BACK, BIGGER AND LOUDER

Bracelets are experiencing the same maximalist revival. The once-restrained cuff or slim bangle now mingles with leather straps, pearl bracelets, beaded strands, and bold watches. The goal? Movement and music. As you gesture, the clink and shimmer announce your entrance. Pay attention!

A horror to most fine jewelers (because of scratching soft gold), stacking bracelets is as much about storytelling as sparkle. Maybe it’s a slim tennis bracelet from a milestone birthday alongside flea-market finds, or a friendship band next to an Hermès enamel. The mix signals taste that’s global, not pre-packaged. Don’t worry about symmetry because intentional imbalance keeps the look alive.

It’s unstructured elegance, artful spontaneity and sprezzatura on the wrist.

What makes this trend truly modern is how it refuses to pick a lane. Grandma’s Art Deco brooch can sit happily with a streetwearinspired dog tag or your mothers’ pearls. Diamonds dance well

with resin. Victorian chains link arms with contemporary sculptural pieces. The layered approach frees jewelry from the formality of matching sets and turns it into wearable collage art.

Photo Karina Brez

Day to night, it works everywhere. For brunch, try a tangle of gold chains over a linen dress. For a gala, pile diamond tennis bracelets up your wrist with reckless glamour. Even workwear can perk up when a casual crewneck meets three layers of mixed-metal chains.

FINGER POINTING

Try stacking slim bands of gold, platinum, or diamond accents across multiple fingers. This has become a defining jewelry trend for the style-savvy. Instead of one statement piece, the modern look celebrates a curated mix: whisper-thin pavé bands with a single solitaire, mismatched textures of hammered gold and polished enamel, or micropearls paired with delicate jewels. The appeal lies in personalization. Each combination tells a story, whether marking milestones with birthstones or creating a daily “ring wardrobe” that shifts with mood and outfit.

From minimalist to maximalist, stacking encourages creative play while remaining refined, especially when the metals share a subtle color harmony. Luxury maisons like Cartier, Messika, and Anita Ko now design entire collections with stacking in mind, ensuring slim profiles and perfect fit. This trend is a wearable mood board that says life is too rich for a single necklace or solitary bracelet. It invites

experimentation and flaunts individuality, and everyone will notice.

Now is your chance to empty the jewelry box, mix high and low, and let your wrists and neckline do the talking. In the age of more is more, your best accessory may be fearless abundance.

“Wrist stacking continues to be incredibly popular, especially with fine jewelry clients who love mixing meaningful pieces into an everyday layered look. Our Bit of LUV and Huggable Hooves bracelets were designed specially with stacking in mind, they are comfortable, versatile and photograph beautifully when worn together or mixed with other styles.” —Karina Brez

AI SHOPPING Your Next Personal Shopper Is an Algorithm

When Julie Bornstein, the e-commerce powerhouse behind The Yes and a former Stitch Fix and Nordstrom exec, launched Daydream, the fashion world’s collective ears perked up. Her promise? To replace endless scrolling and clunky keyword searches with a conversational AI stylist that feels more like texting a chic best friend than clicking through a spreadsheet of filters.

Bornstein isn’t dreaming small. Daydream already taps a catalog of 8,000 brands and over two million products, powered by a “style passport” you fill out at sign-up. Then, you simply chat: “I need a silk dress for a Paris wedding,” or “Find me boots chic enough for a gallery opening but walkable for cobblestones.” The AI refines suggestions in real time, learns your tastes, and sends you directly to a brand’s site to buy. How does Daydream make money? By taking a commission on the sale instead of selling ad placement.

Daydream isn’t just another pretty interface. Its no-ads revenue model, hyper-curated catalog, and feedback-driven chat loop could pressure the entire sector to rethink how fashion is discovered and purchased. For brands, it’s a chance to meet shoppers in a more editorial, magazine-like environment instead of a bargain bin. But Bornstein isn’t the only one betting on an AI fashion revolution. She knows she has rivals, and they’re multiplying fast.

Enter Alta, the digital closet concierge helmed by Jenny Wang. Alta leans into what you already own: upload your wardrobe, create a virtual closet, and let it build fresh outfits or recommend a few gap-filling purchases. It even factors in weather and cost-per-wear. Alta is perfect for sustainabilityminded shoppers who want to remix what they already own rather than binge on what’s trending. If you own muumuus, it works with them instead of sending you to a site selling minis.

What about Syte, which combines its visual AI engine with generative AI to produce styling suggestions and auto-generate product titles and descriptions. See, an Instagram photo of a dress, highlight it, and Syte serves up similar pieces with shoppable links. It’s a win for retailers too—less manual work, better discovery, and consistent on-site descriptions.

If you’re one of those “nothing fits right” types, there’s Lalaland or GlamAI, where 3-D avatars and AR previews show you how a dress drapes before you click “buy.” Visual confidence, fewer returns, and maybe fewer existential crises in front of the mirror. The jury’s still out, but the idea is compelling.

Appealing to the masses will be a major play for retailers and there are none bigger than Walmart, which recently announced a partnership with OpenAI to allow customers (and Sam’s Club members) to shop directly through ChatGPT using an Instant Checkout feature. Instead of going through a traditional website or app, users can “simply chat and buy”, describing what they need (say, a new golf glove or the week’s groceries), getting recommendations, and completing the purchase within the chat itself. Walmart calls it a move toward “AI-first” and “agentic commerce”, where AI doesn’t just respond but anticipates and assists proactively.

Protocol, developed in collaboration with Stripe, the system lets merchants integrate quickly. Sellers pay a small commission per purchase, while the service remains free for shoppers.

Now, ChatGPT is taking things even further. By launching its integrated Instant Checkout payment tool in the U.S., OpenAI now allows users to purchase products directly within the platform becoming a major milestone in how generative AI is reshaping online shopping and challenging traditional searchdriven models.

A user can describe the product they want, include a budget, and receive a curated selection of items—all without leaving ChatGPT. Built on the open-source Agentic Commerce

“For sellers, it’s a new way of reaching hundreds of millions of people while retaining full control of their payments, systems, and customer relationships,” OpenAI explained. Etsy is the first platform on board, with over a million Shopify merchants. Brands like Glossier, Skims, Spanx, and Vuori are all slated to join soon. On the tech side, ChatGPT is also introducing a multi-basket feature to allow simultaneous purchases from multiple sellers.

By layering generative AI into retail, the shopping experience is evolving from “search and scroll” to “speak and shop.” If Daydream’s vision holds true, your next perfect outfit won’t start with a scroll at all. It will begin with a conversation.

Christina Grazia Poggi is an Italian-based writer who has contributed to WQ, Stylista and Issue Europa. Although she prefers hands-on shopping, she is quickly learning to scroll for style.

CULTURE

PALM BEACH GALA SEASON Hunger Games but in Oscar de la Renta

It’s remarkable how charitable everyone becomes the moment gala season begins. Hearts open, wallets pour onto the floor, and the diamonds have left the safety deposit boxes in a very big way. We dine, we applaud, we raise paddles under the soft glow of chandeliers…and then whisper about the seating chart like it’s national intelligence. Yes, we’re saving lives, uplifting communities, and preserving culture, but we’re also making sure the committee spelled our name correctly in the program. If one is to give, one must be credited correctly. Period.

Let’s be clear: the charitable intentions in South Florida are real. Palm Beach donors give tremendously, likely in ways other communities could never dream of. They genuinely are helping to improve lives, fund medical research, protect children and support the arts. But also, we are absolutely clocking who shows up in which gown, with which date, and who mysteriously “had a conflict” but somehow made it to the after-party at Cuccina. Benevolence and light judgment can coexist under a ball gown. Even though we’re paying $1,500 for a plate of “artfully deconstructed chicken”.

Like swans to the lake, the pageantry of it all explodes around Thanksgiving. It is a profoundly charitable stretch of the calendar, where you could easily don your best 3-4 nights a week. Newbies have soon learned the art of ‘rotation’ and ‘tagging’ in their designer-ladened closets.

Never would you ever wear the same dress to alternate galas in the same season.

“That was at the Heart Ball in ’24, so lets try it for the Red Cross Ball in ’26,” moans one patron. Good works are done. Large checks are written. Champagne is poured and yet, philanthropy here is never merely philanthropy. It is pomp, ceremony, and the faintly competitive Olympic sport of looking effortlessly magnificent while doing good. Bless the cause, yes, but also one must be properly photographed supporting the cause. Ideally near good lighting and only by Capehart.

Palm Beach understands a truth the rest of the world pretends not to: generosity and vanity are not mutually exclusive. They are merely seatmates, often at Table 3, closer to the stage than you are. The gala circuit is a charitable ecosystem in which donations raise spirits, restore hope, and occasionally secure one’s rightful place one row closer to the honoree.

Jay Leno Lois Pope Photo Capehart

Let us begin with ticket pricing, which now hovers somewhere between “respectable patron of the arts” and “did I just buy a small motor vehicle?” The going rate for a single seat now averages $1,000 and can easily jump to $2,500 depending on…well. Depending on a lot. Tables start at a solid $10,000, which is the price of an acceptable vestment for your horse, should you live where we live. The food is always described as elevated, which is a polite way of saying small, beige, and suspiciously architectural. Red hunks of filet with chef’s latest

creation of his Marchand de Vin stare up at you over an oversized charger with a gaudy hotel logo. But no one is here for the entrée (just put it aside and bid), we are here for the seating chart, that sacred ledger of social ecology. If you are near the dais, congratulations: you have been deemed both financially and photographically relevant. If you find yourself annexed in the corner, next to the potted palm and behind a column, well, it builds character, charitable humility and most importantly to the Gala Chairs, motivation for next year.

The Colony Photo Society Social

There are many mainstays to the charity circuit. Many look “tighter’ than they did last season. Most importantly, down here, they show up, look good and open their hearts and wallets. One cannot remember the last time a Mar-a-Lago or Breakers gala wasn’t a sellout. Many of these evenings are not to be missed even though it helps deplete the checking balance for a few weeks.

• Kravis Center Gala. Likely the most beautiful of the season. Every year, tickets in the $1500++ range quietly sell out before they are posted online. Sponsorships and tables go for oodles but strangely, it’s worth it.

• Cleveland Clinic Florida Palm Beach Ball. Tickets in the $1,500 range with named sponsorships at the $50K++ level. Serious people attend this event.

Here is just a sampling of the more than 50 galas that happen during December-March. Let’s call them, ‘get-togethers”

• Norton Museum Gala “One Night at the Norton”. Tickets start at $2,500; with tables at $25,000++. At least here you can stroll by a Monet.

• Palm Beach Symphony Annual Gala — $1,000 per ticket; tables of 10 are $10,000++. Some say it’s the most fun one of the year and one thing for sure…the music is great!

• Palm Beach Opera Gala.; $1,250 ticket or $3,000/couple. The Opera is a gem in Palm Beach and it’s too bad more people want tickets to the gala than tickets to the performances.

• Peggy Adams Animal Rescue Christmas Ball. Sponsorship tiers go from $3,500–$150,000. That’s a lot of dog chow!

• International Red Cross Ball. Some say this is the ‘Grand Dame’ as global ambassadors and dignitaries adorn the ball room. Ticket prices and entry are “available upon request”. Translation: lots of zeros will be on those checks.

• Jupiter Medical Center Foundation Black-Tie Ball. A much younger and fun crowd and includes ‘all those Benjaman people’ from “up there” according to a Worth Ave debutante. Sponsorships run up to $100k

• AmfAR- You need to know somebody, and you need to alert your Trustee before going. It will cost you dearly.

After speeches nobody listens to, perhaps a video on large screens and performance of a flamingo dancer inside a beach ball, we are asked to raise our paddles, or in some cases, raise our eyebrows at who is raising their paddles! But it is true: the giving is real. Checks here are not metaphorical. Hospitals expand wings. Ballet companies buy pointe shoes. Local children receive tutoring. Wildlife is saved and rehabilitated. Lives are improved in tangible; meaningful ways and the gossip is better than the Veuve.

The conversation flows similarly. “What foundation are you supporting this year?” paired with “Who did her face?” and “Is that vintage Oscar?” followed by the great Palm Beach question, whispered like a psalm: “Well, they certainly didn’t pay for their table?” As the evening progresses, everyone does one thing in unison: no one ever eats the dessert. It is photographed, admired and allowed to melt into abstraction. A sugary metaphor for restraint but one you will drop on your Insta on the way home.

It is truly a season of giving, of glitter, of ‘new’, more filler and gowns cut to angles that defy everything. We show up. We applaud. We donate. We sparkle. We whisper. We lift causes high and lift ourselves just a half-inch higher in those new heels.

Call it charitable. Call it glamorous. Call it Palm Beach.

Mitzi Greenway- Attends galas like it’s cardio. Most of the time, she can’t remember if she donated or just took home a gift bag. Probably both.

IRINA KAZARIDI When Horses Choose to Be Seen

We have called on a true professional for this issue’s cover. The super-talented Irina Kazaridi. To photograph horses well is to understand that control is an illusion. Power this large cannot be commanded and must be invited. Photographer Kazaridi has built her reputation on precisely this understanding, creating equine imagery that feels less like documentation and more like collaboration. Her work reveals horses not as subjects to be managed, but as sentient beings willing to meet her lens halfway.

Kazaridi’s distinctive approach has earned her a place at the intersection of fine art, equestrian culture, and luxury design. Her photography has been commissioned and presented by some of the most discerning names in the global luxury landscape, including Liaigre, the legendary interior design house celebrated for its restrained elegance. Within Liaigre’s refined environments, Kazaridi’s equine images feel entirely at home. They are timeless, architectural, and emotionally grounded.

That same crossover appeal has brought her work into collaboration with Christie’s, signaling her position within the serious art and collector market, as well as

with Four Seasons Hotels, where her photography has been sought for placement within premier hospitality settings. In these environments, her horses become more than images; they function as visual anchors or symbols of strength, calm, and cultivated beauty.

At the heart of her practice is the internationally exhibited Horse Print Collection, a body of equine portraits presented as limited-edition gallery works. This series has been shown in leading galleries across Europe, North America, Argentina, and Dubai, positioning Kazaridi firmly within the global fine-art conversation. Each image reflects her signature restraint: natural light, subtle tonal shifts, and compositions that allow the horse’s presence to dominate without theatrical excess.

Kazaridi’s work has also been presented through high-profile solo exhibitions, including Horses, staged at the Meydan Hotel in Dubai during major international racing events. These presentations place her photography directly within the world it celebrates which are elite, global, and unapologetically equestrian. Her images have further been showcased at VIP events aligned with the Longines Global Champions Tour in destinations such as Monaco and Miami, where sport, society, and luxury converge.

Beyond the gallery walls, Kazaridi’s work lives in private collections and luxury interiors worldwide. Interior designers and art advisors regularly select her prints for high-end residences and hospitality spaces, drawn to the way her images command attention without overpowering a room. Her horses possess a rare duality: visually strong, yet emotionally calming, all points for environments that value both presence and balance.

Her equestrian portfolio spans disciplines and geographies, from polo fields to show jumping and dressage arenas, as well as the untamed wild horses of the Camargue. Across these varied worlds, her approach remains consistent. She does not impose narrative; she observes. She waits. She allows the horse’s intelligence and temperament to shape the image.

What ultimately distinguishes Irina Kazaridi is her ability to earn a horse’s trust. You see it in their eyes, their posture, their willingness to remain present. These are not animals being posed. No, they are partners in the creative process. And in that quiet agreement between photographer and horse, Kazaridi creates images that feel unmistakably alive.

THE BEAUTIFUL ADDICTION A life shaped by horses, obsession, and quiet resilience

From the book FINDING PURPOSE

What does it truly look like to shape your entire existence around horses?

Not a pastime, not a profession, but a rhythm of living that is breathtaking, consuming, and sometimes held together by sheer will. In Finding Purpose: A Life Managing the Passion, Compulsion, and Borderline Addiction Called “Horses,” first-time author and seasoned trainer Chelsea Canedy unpacks the winding path that led her into the equestrian world and the one that refused to let her go. With candor and a hard-earned gentleness, she pulls back the curtain on the inner work that accompanies a life in the arena: the self-examination, the unraveling, the rebuilding.

Her story moves through chapters of social work, emotional exhaustion, and the relentless pursuit of excellence, returning always to the creature that steadies her: the horse. But this book stretches far beyond autobiography. Finding Purpose becomes a reflection on personal growth and how we evolve, how we heal, and how we stay devoted to the things that call us most deeply. Chelsea draws from her clinical training, her mindfulness practice, and her extensive experience reading and training horses to create a narrative that speaks to riders and non-riders alike. chelseacanedy.com

TASTE

THE POLO ROOM

Dinner, from the other side of the bridle

Palm Beach does dinner exceptionally well, so a new opening always comes with expectations. Stepping into The Polo Room, with a reservation I didn’t take for granted, I was curious, attentive, and fully prepared to stay longer than planned.

The address — 251 Sunrise Avenue — is discreet, which I appreciate. Inside, the room feels instantly composed: warm, layered, quietly confident. The lighting flatters. The textures invite you in. You get the sense that this is a place designed for conversation, not content — a refreshing notion these days. Equestrian references are subtle, not theme-y, and the photography by Ricardo “Snoopy” Motran — iconic polo moments from the ’80s and ’90s — reads like a knowing wink rather than a history lesson.

The energy is social but unhurried. Tables hum. The bar is busy without being chaotic. This is not a see-and-be-seen — it’s a linger, order another martini, and settle-in kind of place.

The menu reads confidently, which usually means the kitchen knows exactly what it’s doing. We started with empanadas (non-negotiable), followed by crudos that felt clean and precise. Then came the heart of the menu: Asado-style steaks and seafood, grilled properly and served with classic sauces like chimichurri and au poivre. Nothing overwrought. Nothing apologetic. The Lobster Frite — with hand-cut fries — is exactly what you want it to be.

And then came dessert — or rather, all of dessert.

What began as a polite “maybe one” turned into a fullscale, joint-effort tasting of everything on the menu. Mima’s Chocolate Mousse — a family recipe from **Nacho Figueras’ childhood — disappeared first. Then the flan. Then the dulce de leche crêpes. Spoons were shared. Plates were passed. Opinions were voiced. Consensus was reached: restraint had no place at the table. It was the kind of moment that tells you everything you need to know about a restaurant — relaxed, indulgent, and very much in on the fun.

The cocktails keep pace. The Twenty-Two Below Zero ºC Martini arrives properly frozen (olives included), and the Iceberg Skinny Cosmo is crisp enough to justify another round. A wine list of more than 300 selections quietly signals that this room intends to stay in rotation. What struck me most wasn’t just the food or the room — it was the ease. The Polo Room feels established without trying. It understands Palm Beach season — when dinners stretch, plans dissolve, and the best conversations happen after dessert… or three.

The Polo Room is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday beginning at 5pm (closed Mondays, wisely). And yes, I’ll be back — next time with a plan to start at dessert.

WHEN COUTURE MEETS COLD BREW

From Milan to Manhattan, coffee has become the new couture

Welcome to the global caffeine arms race. The battlefield is beginning to smell like burnt espresso. The uniforms are overpriced hoodies, and the soldiers are tattooed baristas with brand loyalty stronger than cold brew concentrate.

From Ralph Lauren’s Ralph’s Coffee to Luckin Coffee’s high-tech takeover, from Starbucks’ lukewarm empire to Coach’s “handbag lattes,” and Armani and Louis Vuitton waving a ‘ciao and “bonjour”, everyone’s fighting for the same thing: your morning ritual and your lifestyle identity.

ARMANI /CAFFÈ: ESPRESSO ALLA ELEGANZA

Giorgio Armani treats coffee like couture: impeccably minimalist, devastatingly beige, and whisper-quietly expensive. His Armani /Caffè outposts in Milan, Paris, and Dubai are temples of restraint—porcelain cups thinner than his lapels, interiors matching his suits, and an atmosphere so refined you feel underdressed even in silk. But for Armani, the espresso isn’t the product—the feeling is. Every sip murmurs, “You belong on Via Montenapoleone.” And wouldn’t we all want to be there?

LOUIS

VUITTON:

TAORMINA, TOTES, AND TASTING NOTES

Not to be outdone, Louis Vuitton has opened cafés from Osaka to Taormina and a beautiful new café in its NY flagship. For LV, its blending retail therapy with crema. You can sip a cappuccino under monogrammed umbrellas, then wander three steps to buy a bag that costs more than a semester in college. It’s the final evolution of luxury: caffeine as couture, consumption as communion. The bag, the brew, the brand mean each sip is a reminder that exclusivity now comes with latte art.

RALPH’S COFFEE: POLO GROUNDS AND POUR-OVERS

Ralph Lauren has mastered the art of bottling the smell of a cashmere sweater after a foggy Hamptons morning, so what was his next move? Giving us Ralph’s Coffee. Initially it was thought to be a cute brand extension, but it has quickly turned into a “hospitality extension” that has sales reported to be north of $30 million annually. Not bad for caffeine for people who iron their pajamas. The green-and-white logo channels a 1950s diner, but the mood is pure Madison Avenue leisure. The coffee itself is quite good. It’s piping hot, expensive and served with a heaping pot of style. But remember, you’re sipping “Ralph’s Roast” beneath a vintage sign, pretending you just stepped off a Bruce Weber photo shoot and it’s the most instagramable coffee break in America.

COACH COFFEE: THE PURSE MEETS THE POUR

Because handbags alone weren’t enough, Coach now serves espresso. From Singapore to SoHo, its pop-ups feature monogrammed foam and pastries shaped like Tabby bags. This isn’t caffeine for Coach, it’s “immersive brand storytelling.” Translation: You’ll buy the latte to Instagram it next to your mini bag that fits nothing but a credit card. Smart move, though. When luxury loses its shine, lifestyle fills the gap. The brand says that sales in their cafés are up 30% monthly. And plans are underway for as many as 100 stores. Coach isn’t just selling handbags anymore—it’s selling identity, one oat-milk latte at a time.

STARBUCKS: SALES ARE STILL LUKEWARM

Once the cathedral of coffee cool, Starbucks has become the megachurch of mediocrity. The brand that taught us to say venti instead of large now feels like the McDonald’s of mindfulness—ubiquitous, earnest, and chronically tired. The chain is scrambling to regain credibility with “Reserve Roasteries,” black-apron “artisans,” and $8 oat-milk cortados, as though dim lighting and a sustainability pledge can erase two decades of pumpkin-spice trauma. CEO Brian Niccol (formerly of Chipotle fame) has stepped into Starbucks amid a gauntlet of structural, cultural, and financial headwinds. He has moved to cut complexity by eliminating over a dozen drinks and slashing corporate roles, to boost efficiency and accountability. Yet same-store sales continue their drip-drip decline in the U.S. Meanwhile, the brand

struggles with identity: too premium for bargain-seekers, too massmarket for luxury coffee aficionados. To its credit, Starbucks did make coffee a lifestyle. But when your most viral product is a pink unicorn Frappuccino, perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate your priorities.

DUNKIN’: REBRANDING FOR THE BROKE-BUT-BUZZED

Dunkin’ dropped “Donuts” to sound sleeker, faster, more Gen Z. But it’s still the spiritual home of construction workers, college students, and anyone too tired to spell macchiato. No pretension, no latte art, no influencer activations. It’s just caffeine, sugar, and survival. Dunkin’ is the drunk uncle of the coffee world: loud, unrefined, but there for you at 7 a.m. when everyone else is still “curating their morning rituals.” A medium coffee and a donut is still cheaper than a Starbucks Grande Latte with no foam. Dunk that.

LUCKIN COFFEE: THE RED DRAGON REAWAKENS

In China, Luckin Coffee is staging the comeback of the decade. After its fake-sales scandal imploded the brand, Luckin rose again like a caffeinated phoenix by opening stores faster than you can say “bean counter.” Today, it’s outselling Starbucks in China, fueled by sweetcream lattes, AI-powered logistics, and subtle nationalism: “We don’t need your Seattle brew.” No tweed, no nostalgia, no jazz vinyl—just QR codes, relentless expansion, and a caffeine buzz that could power a Tesla factory. Its corporate efficiency disguised as coffee culture and it’s winning. Two U.S. stores are now open in NYC with “serveral hundred” more on the way. With prices starting at $1.99 for a Grande size dark roast, the Starbucks lady is weeping tears into her macchiatto.

HOLIDAY HOUSE WELLINGTON A Rythm of Style

Holiday House arrives in Wellington this season with a sense of purpose and elegance that feels uniquely aligned with the rhythm of this community. Here, where sport meets heritage and daily life is shaped by the bond between horse and rider, Holiday House becomes more than a design showcase — it becomes a gathering place, a cultural moment, and a reminder of the quiet power of living with intention.

Long celebrated in Manhattan and the Hamptons, Holiday House has always represented something far deeper than exquisite interiors. Founded by designer and breast cancer survivor Iris Dankner, the showhouse began as a personal tribute to resilience — a response to her own diagnosis that evolved into a philanthropic movement raising millions for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). At its heart is the belief that beauty matters: that the spaces we create can lift us, steady us, and reconnect us to what is true and meaningful in our lives.

This year marks a milestone moment for the organization as Holiday House produces its first-ever Florida designer showhouse, expanding its footprint in a bold new way. For the first time, two homes will be activated simultaneously, allowing guests to experience two distinct design palettes under one philanthropic umbrella. The aesthetic of Wellington’s equestrian lifestyle offers a striking contrast to the traditional Palm Beach sensibility, creating an exciting opportunity for designers to interpret this unique environment through their own creative lens.

Image from the Holiday House tabletop event at The Colony Palm Beach 2025

The showhouses will be set within Farrell Estates Wellington, an exclusive new development by The Farrell Companies in the Palm Beach Polo Golf & Country Club. With only 27 residences ranging from 5,300 to 8,000 square feet and priced from $5 million to $10 million, the property provides an architectural backdrop worthy of the event. Its clean modern lines, expansive indoor–outdoor living, and proximity to Wellington’s equestrian heartbeat make it an inspired setting for this year’s showcase. The partnership itself was born organically — following Joe Farrell’s attendance at Holiday House’s famed White Party in the Hamptons this past summer, where he was so impressed by the scale, beauty, and organization of the event that he personally offered two homes within his new Wellington development for this historic Florida debut.

Holiday House Palm Beach/Wellington will debut with its Opening Night Gala on March 3, 2026, followed by public tours from March 4 through May 3, 2026. The gala promises a festive VIP preview of two magnificent designer homes filled with beautiful interiors, striking creativity, and the collective energy of patrons, designers, equestrians, philanthropists, and Palm Beach society — all coming together with the shared purpose of raising critical funds for breast cancer research. Additional special events, partnerships, and design programming will unfold throughout the month as dates are finalized.

As always, the homes will unfold room by room through the visions of a curated roster of designers. Each space will tell its own story: a serene guest retreat echoing the calm after a day at the show grounds, a living space inspired by subtropical light and the subtle glamour of Palm Beach evenings, an outdoor living area that feels like an extension of the gardens and polo fields beyond. In Wellington, where so much of daily life flows between the barn, the ring, and the home, the interiors naturally take on a lived-in, narrative quality — the suggestion that someone has just returned from a hack, slipped off their boots, poured a drink, and settled into the quiet comfort of the season. Detailed designer lineups, room assignments, and emerging themes will be revealed in a follow-up spring feature once the installations are complete.

At its core, Holiday House remains deeply rooted in its partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the world’s largest private funder of breast cancer research. With more than 250 scientists supported across 14 countries and 91 cents of every dollar going directly to research, BCRF holds both an A+ CharityWatch rating and four stars from Charity Navigator for its transparency and impact. Since 2008, Holiday House has granted more than $2 million to the foundation. This year’s mission feels more meaningful than ever as researchers move closer to the development of a breast cancer vaccine, and routine screening has reached an all-time high — reinforcing the life-saving power of early detection. Raising awareness and sustaining momentum within this philanthropic

community remains central to the showhouse’s purpose.

Throughout its run, Holiday House Wellington will serve as a vibrant cultural hub for the season. Guests will experience an evolving calendar of gatherings — from design talks and cocktail evenings to wellness moments, philanthropy-driven events, and artistic showcases — all designed to bring people together in meaningful, uplifting ways. As the winter season unfolds, Holiday House becomes a place not only to view design, but to experience it: to linger, to learn, and to connect.

Wellington feels like a natural home for Holiday House at this moment. Many of the organization’s designers, supporters, and followers already migrate to Palm Beach for the winter season, making this expansion an organic extension of a community that is both socially connected and deeply charitable. Residents here live within tight-knit circles that share a passion for entertaining, design, and supporting meaningful causes together. The audience brings both inspiration and momentum, helping fuel the growth and future of Holiday House in South Florida.

In the end, Holiday House is a story of courage transformed into beauty, and of community strengthened through creativity. And this season, as guests move through two homes filled with inspired design and shared purpose, they will leave not only with wonderful ideas for their own spaces, but with a profound sense of pride in supporting a cause that touches so many lives. Beauty, here, becomes both inspiration and impact.

ART LEADS Inside an Annie Santulli–Designed Palm Beach Gardens Home

For more than two decades, Annie Santulli has been redefining luxury living from Palm Beach to Park City with her unmistakable signature: bold color, sculptural silhouettes, and interiors that whisper effortless sophistication while still brimming with personality. Her work spans waterfront estates, sky-high penthouses, and custom yachts. Each project is a study in balance: dramatic yet welcoming, refined yet playful, chic yet endlessly livable.

Clients return to Annie for one simple reason, she understands how they want to live. She creates homes that look impeccably tailored yet feel utterly comfortable. Textures are layered with the precision of a seasoned fashion editor and she chooses statement pieces with a curator’s eye. Whether she’s placing a sumptuous

custom sofa in a great room or selecting art that makes guests pause mid-conversation, Annie designs spaces with life, movement, and intention.

Annie Santulli Design recently transformed a spacious Palm Beach Gardens residence into a gallery-level home where art, architecture, and luxury finishings coexist in perfect harmony. The clients’ extensive, deeply personal art collection served as the guiding force for every material, spatial, and lighting decision.

The living room centers around a commanding 14-foot oil on linen by Brian Rutenberg—Meadow—which sets a confident chromatic tone for the home. Crisp white walls, a streamlined white sofa, Lucite side tables, and a tonal rug create an unobtrusive canvas that allows the artwork to lead.

In the kitchen, craftsmanship becomes its own form of artistry.

A custom hand-blown pendant from Czech lighting studio Bomma that’s stands nearly three feet tall. And serves as an illuminated focal point, hovering like a suspended droplet of light. The entirely reimagined kitchen features quartzite surfaces, high-gloss white cabinetry by Artistry Woodworking, and illuminated glass display cabinets showcasing curated objets that echo the clients’ overall collection. Lisa Jarvis hardware adds a refined finishing touch.

Throughout the home, furniture selections follow a sculptural, cohesive rhythm while allowing each artwork its own presence. A custom hand-painted Italian credenza grounds the family room, blending Old-World craftsmanship with contemporary restraint.

Architectural enhancements, including new glass banisters along the staircase and second-floor catwalk, reinforce the home’s airy, gallery-like aesthetic. Overhead fixtures from Hammerton were chosen for their sculptural integrity and their ability to cast nuanced, atmospheric light across each piece. Warmth and depth

come through deliberate layering: Philip Jeffries wallcoverings add subtle dimension, custom drapery softens natural light, and bespoke bedding completes the private rooms with quiet luxury.

Every detail was considered, curated, and placed with intention. The result is a home that not only celebrates extraordinary art but becomes a work of art itself. It is elegant, inviting, and a beautifully balanced reflection of Annie Santulli’s refined design sensibility.

BAR CARTS The Only Acceptable Form of Mobile Drinking

There’s something undeniably charming and theatrical about a bar cart. Once a mid-century mainstay in smoky lounges and Mad Men sets, the drinks trolley has rolled back into favor as one of the most stylish home accessories of the decade. But its resurgence isn’t merely nostalgic. It’s the product of shifting social habits, design evolution, and the way we gather today.

One of the biggest forces behind the bar cart’s comeback is our renewed focus on entertaining at home. With hybrid work, changing social norms, and the aftereffects of pandemic life, the home has become a social hub again, becoming part lounge, part office and part retreat. The bar cart offers flexibility: a mobile “mini bar” that can glide from living room to terrace, dining area to patio. It brings the spirit of a cocktail lounge into your own space, even for a quiet night in.

Market research backs up what Instagram interiors already tell us: bar carts are booming. Analysts project steady global growth, fueled by consumer demand for furniture that blends beauty and function. Manufacturers are responding with multi-tier designs, modular attachments, and customizable finishes to fit every taste and footprint from slim, minimalist carts for city apartments to statement-making trolleys for larger homes.

What makes the bar cart so irresistible is its dual purpose. It’s both a decorative object and a working station. Today’s homeowners expect more than good looks, they want pieces that

earn their place. The bar cart delivers as it serves as a stage for glassware, bottles, shakers, coffee table books, and even greenery, while remaining ready for service when happy hour calls.

Designers are embracing the format with creativity: sleek brass frames, mirrored shelves, acrylic tiers, and wood-metal hybrids that bridge eras. The modern cart can be as understated as a minimalist steel frame or as glamorous as a polished Art Deco display, complete with gleaming casters and leather handles.

The best bar carts balance elegance with ease. A few heavy crystal glasses, a sculptural decanter, a bottle of small batch whisky or an old-world cognac, perhaps a sprig of rosemary casually placed as if it wandered in on its own. It’s the world of “quiet luxury” distilled into one rolling statement piece: polished, intentional, and effortlessly chic.

In the office, a bar cart is even more of a power move. It softens hard edges, invites conversation, and elevates the mood from “meeting” to “moment.” It tells clients and colleagues that you’re someone who handles business with taste, perhaps someone who works late into the night, someone who appreciates ritual and who values the slow pour after a fast-paced day.

At home, it becomes a stage for your personal aesthetic: the mirrored cart for the modernist, the brass-and-walnut version for the traditionalist, or the minimalist Lucite one for the “Palm Beach-meets-Milan” crowd. Styled properly, it doubles as décor even when untouched.

Social media has turned the bar cart into a design celebrity. On Instagram and TikTok, a perfectly arranged cart, complete with curated bottles, artisanal mixers, and sculptural glassware, making it a lifestyle statement. It’s décor that photographs beautifully and evolves easily. Swap out botanicals for citrus in summer, or candles for cut crystal in winter, and the look refreshes instantly.

According to Better Homes & Gardens, retro silhouettes and metallic finishes are surging in popularity, while Restaurant Development and Design magazine notes a hospitality trend toward “nostalgic but elevated” spaces with rich textures, sculptural forms, and warm lighting and the bar cart embodies that blend: a nod to mid-century glamour, reborn for the modern home.

The appeal of the bar cart extends beyond its purpose. It’s a symbol of hospitality and style, a small canvas for self-expression that can adapt with the times. Whether you’re mixing martinis, mocktails, or macchiatos, one truth remains: the bar cart is less about what’s on it, and more about the lifestyle it evokes.

EQUESTRIAN

DESIGNER GENES Science Shapping the Modern Pony

A

midst the gaucho country of Buenos Aires Province, five honey-brown foals, all of them sporting a white facial flank, graze quietly. Nearly a year old, they might appear ordinary, docile youngsters, but beneath that calm exterior lies groundbreaking science: they are the world’s first genetically edited horses, engineered with precision to showcase explosive athletic potential.

This remarkable breakthrough comes from Kheiron Biotech, an Argentine firm specializing in equine biotechnology. These foals are not only clones of an elite polo mare named Polo Pureza—or “Polo Purity”—but have also undergone a precise genetic tweak via CRISPR. What is CRISPR?

Cambiasso with his clones. Photo Science Magazine

CRISPR is short for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats, a natural feature found in bacterial DNA. Bacteria use it as a defense system against viruses by storing snippets of viral DNA and using them to recognize and cut up invaders in the future. Scientists borrow this bacterial system, pairing CRISPR with a protein called Cas9 (or other Cas enzymes). Cas9 acts like molecular scissors, guided by a custom “guide RNA” that tells it where in the genome to cut. Once the DNA is cut, cells can repair it while sometimes introducing edits, deleting pieces, or inserting new sequences.

The process and its results can make huge differences in a variety of fields, In Medicine, it has the potential to treat genetic diseases like sickle-cell anemia, muscular dystrophy, or cystic fibrosis. In Agriculture, it has the ability to help develop crops that resist pests, tolerate drought, or have improved nutrition.

But most significantly, in animals, it allows scientists to edit traits for research, build up disease resistance, or (when it comes to polo ponies) significantly enhance performance by aiming directly at reducing expression of the muscle-limiting gene, myostatin, to boost speed and power. Speed and power…are the two most defining traits

of high-powered polo ponies. While cloning replicates genetic material faithfully, CRISPR functions like molecular scissors that can edit DNA and, in this case, dialing down myostatin to amplify muscle growth and potentially transform the foals into polo-field sprinters sooner and stronger

Argentina, revered as the global hub of polo, has long embraced advanced reproductive tech, from surrogacy to cloning, to preserve and advance bloodlines. The nation exported around 2,400 polo horses last year, with Argentine-bred mounts dominating prestigious tournaments around the world.

But cloning isn’t new in polo. Adolfo Cambiaso, renowned as one of polo’s greatest players, famously rode clones (most notably Cuartetera) in elite competitions. Between 2006-2010, Cambiasso and his partners cloned literally herds of identical DNA sisters, all cloned from the original mare. Cambiaso rode six “Cuartetera’s in the 2016 Argentine Open Final and auctioned one of the mounts for $800,000 in 2010.

Kheiron Biotech was inspired by this possibility. Co-founded by businessman Daniel Sammartino and scientist Gabriel Vichera, the company produced its first cloned horse in 2013. Since then, it has delivered hundreds of clones, selling them for an average price of $40,000 apiece. Yet, with the current introduction of CRISPR, Argentine polo authorities are sharply divided. The Argentine Polo Association has officially banned these gene-edited (GE) horses from competition. Its president, Benjamin Araya, dismissed the innovation, remarking, “This takes away the charm of welcoming a newborn into the barn. I like to choose a mare, choose a stallion, cross them, and hope that it will turn out very well.”

The Argentine Association of Polo Horse Breeders is proceeding with caution, stating it will monitor the GE foals for four or five years before considering their registration as

polo ponies. Some breeders fear gene editing could undermine tradition and destabilize their market, while others view it as a natural, and potentially beneficial, evolution in breeding. “This ruins breeders,” lamented Marcos Heguy, a breeder and former player, comparing it to replacing artistry with artificial intelligence. Although he may be right, others, including Eduardo Ramos, a veteran breeder, recall early skepticism toward embryo transplants and cloning. “Science and technology will keep advancing,” he said. “Those who say this shouldn’t be done won’t be able to stop it.”

In the meantime, Kheiron has received inquiries from a dozen potential clients. And while resistance persists, some scientific voices offer some nuance. Geneticist Ted Kalbfleisch from the University of Kentucky points out that the edited myostatin gene is naturally present in healthy horses and that Kheiron’s process simply introduced a familiar variant to replicate known traits faster. While he acknowledged that gene editing could give polo competitors an edge, he stressed the advantage is no less accessible: “If you can write a check, you can get it done.”

These GE foals, born in late 2024 and early 2025, still have time before their first saddle ride. They’ll begin light training at age two, with actual polo lessons to follow a year or two later. Sammartino admits that whether they’ll be superior or even accepted by the polo world, remains uncertain. “Will it be a better horse? I don’t know. Time will tell.”

So, the question is, will these newborn beauties sprint across fields as heralds of a biotech revolution, or will tradition prevail, keeping the sport anchored in its storied, equine artistry?

This chart shows how scientists edit the MSTN muscle gene in horse cells using CRISPR, select cleanly edited cells, and then clone them into embryos to potentially make genetically edited horses with enhanced muscle traits.

FOUR SEASONS JACKSON HOLE

Alpine Grandeur With American Refinement

Images by Four Seasons Jackson Hole

There are lots of mountain resorts, and then there is Jackson Hole. Wild, uncompromising, and mythic in its scale, this corner of Wyoming has long drawn those who prefer their luxury with grit. At the base of the legendary Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is The Four Seasons Resort & Residences Jackson Hole. A resort that delivers impeccable service while enhancing the landscape around it. This is not a ski lodge playing dress-up. It is a serious resort for serious skiers and discerning travelers who understand a true luxury experience.

The arrival sets the tone immediately. Timber beams, hand-cut stone, and expansive glass frame the Tetons like curated artwork, while interiors lean into warmth and restraint with leather seating, wool textures, stone fireplaces, and a palette drawn directly from pine forests and winter skies. The effect is confident, grounded, and unmistakably American.

Jackson Hole is revered for its terrain. Lifelong skiers will tell its one of the hardest, yet gentle terrains in the world. This is not a beginner’s mountain. From Corbet’s Couloir to deep powder days that define ski lore, the mountain commands respect, and The Four Seasons’ true ski-in, ski-out access places guests directly in the action, without sacrificing comfort.

Valet-handled skis, heated boot rooms, and seamless lift access allow guests to move effortlessly from first chair to fireside cocktails. For those less inclined toward gravity, the resort offers snowshoeing, wildlife safaris through Grand Teton National Park, sleigh rides, and bespoke outdoor excursions that deliver awe without adrenaline.

Accommodations feel less like hotel rooms and more like private mountain homes. Stone fireplaces anchor the spaces, while deep soaking tubs, plush beds, and private balconies open onto alpine views that silence even seasoned travelers.

Après-ski at Four Seasons Jackson Hole is a ritual worth savoring. The Handlebar delivers elevated mountain conviviality with leather banquettes, a curated whiskey list, and a crowd that blends ski boots with cashmere effortlessly. For fine dining, the Westbank Grill offers expertly prepared steaks, mountain trout, and a wine list that travels well beyond Wyoming.

What truly sets Four Seasons Jackson Hole apart is its respect for place. The resort doesn’t attempt to tame Wyoming’s wildness—it honors it. Wildlife sightings are common. Silence is embraced. Even luxury feels quieter here. This is a destination for those who value authenticity over excess, refinement over spectacle, and experiences that linger long after departure.

Equestrians, masters at planning

This industry has so many moving parts. Equestrians have this innate knowledge that you can only learn by living it. Every move, every decision, and every plan revolves around one thing — the horse.

There has always been a special relationship between humans and horses. The passion and love equestrians have for these animals is unmatched, and they predominately have their best interests at heart. But many people in the equestrian industry don’t have someone looking out for them, with the same passion and dedication that they care for their horses.

To fill this void, Greenberg Traurig started its Equine Industry Group in 2020. With the firm’s international platform and diverse practice specialties, Greenberg Traurig is well positioned to serve the business interests of riders, trainers, and owners, and help them plan for a better, and more successful future. Greenberg Traurig’s Equine Industry Group has skilled and dedicated attorneys worldwide to serve the equestrian community.

KYLE LUCKS

The Artist Redefining Equestrian Imagery—

From Canvas to Silk

Few artists in the equestrian world possess the rare alchemy of technical mastery, emotional intelligence, and modern visual flair quite like Kyle Lucks. His work is instantly recognizable: muscular, kinetic, sculptural horses that seem to break through the surface of the canvas, vibrating with tension and controlled power. Lucks doesn’t simply paint horses, he reveals their internal architecture, the biomechanics beneath the beauty, the pulse behind every stride. His art is equal parts anatomy, movement, and mythmaking.

But it is his expansion into luxury textiles that has further distinguished him as one of the most compelling creatives in equestrian fine art today. In his acclaimed The Stirrup Collection, Lucks transforms the iconic silk scarf—long intertwined with riding culture—into a sophisticated new medium. Rather than designing prints digitally, he paints directly onto authentic Hermès silk scarves, honoring the heritage of a house originally founded as a saddlery. The result is an arresting fusion of fashion, craftsmanship, and equestrian tradition.

finished wood, luxury textiles, and equestrian lineage brought together with contemporary vision. The effect is arresting, and collectors have taken notice. His debut scarf painting sold within minutes of its unveiling, igniting an expansion of the series into other equestrian motifs, as well as giclée editions in a variety of sizes available on his website. Much of his work is displayed in homes, barns, galleries, and private clubs from Wellington to Palm Beach.

These silk works feel almost cinematic. The softness of the silk contrasts with the explosive athleticism of his subjects, creating a tension that is both elegant and electric. Lucks then mounts each painted scarf on a custom wood support, elevating the piece from wearable accessory to gallery-worthy fine art. It’s a nod to saddlery craftsmanship with hand-

In every medium he touches, Kyle Lucks expands what equestrian art can be: modern, muscular, luxurious, and unforgettable. His work doesn’t just portray the horse; it honors its soul, its history, and its place in contemporary culture.

HOOFNOTES

A season-by-season look at life on the circuit, as seen from the other side of the bridle.

What’s Happening?” was a wildly popular television sitcom in the late 1970s (yes, we had television back then), featuring the unforgettable Jimmy “J.J.” Walker and his signature catchphrase, “Dy-no-mite!” As the 2025 equestrian season drew to a close, that expression felt particularly fitting. 2025 ended with the official retirement of the magnificent Explosion W — Individual Jumping Gold Medalist at the Tokyo Olympic Games with Ben Maher aboard — announced at the London International Horse Show in December 2025. What an athlete. What a career.

The season also concluded with exciting upgrades across Florida’s equestrian landscape. At WEF in Wellington, competitors will enjoy improved stabling, better footing, and enhanced pedestrian pathways for both horse and rider. At WEC–Ocala, the addition of four new restaurants and meeting venues continues to elevate the overall experience. These are welcome investments that further solidify Florida’s hoofprint on the global equestrian map into 2026.

WELLINGTON’S MOMENTUM — AND ITS QUESTIONS

The Village of Wellington is buzzing. Recent enhancements to the existing WEF campus, continued expansion to the south, and a major announcement by Wellington Lifestyle Partners (WLP) have all captured attention. WLP has unveiled plans for a new 400-acre club community in Palm Beach County, to be called The Wellington.

WLP’s capital investments have attracted significant global interest, including a partnership with Abu Dhabi–based real estate investor Modon Holding PSC. Other groups are rumored to be evaluating participation as well. The scale and ambition of these projects signal that Wellington’s evolution is far from over. That said, Village residents find themselves of two minds — appreciative of the economic vitality these investments bring, yet understandably concerned about the impact of growth on infrastructure, healthcare, and schools. Traffic remains a daily reality, with frequent bottlenecks at Forest Hill, South Shore, and Pierson Roads. Growth inevitably brings both opportunity and strain. Let’s hope all stakeholders continue working collaboratively to manage that growth in a way that benefits both the equine and human residents of the Village.

A SPORT ON THE MOVE

Speaking of capital infusion, the equestrian world is buzzing with talk of a potential new international jumping league — one that could rival Jan Tops’ Global Champions Tour and League, sponsored by Longines. Should such a league come to fruition, it would be a welcome development for the sport: broader global exposure (whether televised or streamed), expanded competition opportunities, increased sponsorship, and higher prize money. If realized, it would undoubtedly bring challenges as well — from scheduling complexities to competitive balance — but those are conversations for another day. For now, optimism feels warranted.

GOOD TIMES, INDEED

Back to Jimmy J.J. Walker for a moment — Good Times truly lives up to its name. That phrase neatly sums up my own fall schedule, which included turnout, rest, and light flatwork, before reality pressed us back into competition.

A few weeks ago, my stablemate Candeaux and I — Meadowvale Cruise — loaded up and headed north to WEC–Ocala. We both came home winners, each taking a class in the 1.35–1.40 meter divisions. Always a good feeling.

There’s been change on the rider front as well. My former jockey, Luke Jensen, has decided to remain in Germany, continuing his education under Paul Schockemöhle. What an extraordinary opportunity — few can match the breadth of Paul’s experience and global network.

And then there’s the flip side of that good fortune. We were lucky enough to welcome our new rider: U.S. Olympian and multiple five-star winner Lauren Hough. Needless to say,

excitement is high — and excuses are officially off the table. No blaming missed distances now. The job is simple: jump clean and leave the rails — especially those pesky planks balanced on flat cups — right where they belong.

LOOKING AHEAD

As we turn our attention to the 2026 Florida circuit, whether at WEF or WEC, the outlook is bright. Both venues offer terrific stages for my stablemates and me to kick off the season and, given the time of year, get our “Wings”.

Good times, indeed.

MR. ETIQUETTE

Timeless Style & Sophisticated Manners with Craig DeLongy, Founder of John Craig Clothiers

Q: MR. ETIQUETTE, IS IT ACCEPTABLE FOR A MAN TO WEAR A SMARTWATCH WITH A TAILORED SUIT?

A: Only if you also plan on pairing Crocs with black tie. A tailored suit deserves a real watch with gears, weight, and dignity. Save the smartwatch for counting your steps on the treadmill.

Q: IS DRIVING A LUXURY SUV CONSIDERED STYLISH OR IS IT JUST PRACTICAL?

A: It’s only “stylish” if you have the convertible in the garage.

Q: WHAT’S THE PROPER WAY TO OFFER SOMEONE A CIGAR?

A: Offer it confidently, with the label showing, and never, ever, say, “These are pretty good for the price.” If you can’t afford to offer something impressive, offer nothing. Mediocrity should never be shared.

Q: ARE LOAFERS WITH NO SOCKS STILL HAPPENING OR IS THAT TREND OVER?

A: If done correctly, it’s very chic, but tragic if done enthusiastically. No-show socks are fine. Barefoot is fine only if you’re on the Amalfi Coast stepping off a Riva.

Q: WHAT SHOULD A MAN BRING TO A DINNER PARTY IF THE HOST SAYS, “DON’T BRING ANYTHING”?

A: You bring something anyway. A bottle of good wine or a candle that doesn’t smell like sadness. Showing up empty-handed is what teenagers do, not men who claim to have taste.

Q: IS IT RUDE TO SEND BACK AN UNDERCOOKED STEAK?

A: Only if you apologize while doing it. A gentleman doesn’t grovel over protein. Say it calmly, smile politely, and let them fix it. If cooked correctly the first time, you wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Q: HOW MUCH SHOULD A MAN TIP THE VALET?

A: Enough that he remembers your car and enough that he wants to bring it back without revving it. If you drive something German or Italian, a twenty when you arrive goes a long way.

Q: WHAT SHOULD A MAN ORDER AT A BUSINESS LUNCH?

A: Something neat, quiet, and mercifully free of sauce. Nobody respects the guy trying to close a deal while wrestling linguine like it’s a python.

Q: WHAT’S THE POLITE WAY TO LEAVE A PARTY EARLY?

A: Make rounds, say genuine goodbyes, and leave your glass at the bar. Then exit quickly. Lingering too long ruins the illusion that you have somewhere more exclusive to be.

Q: HOW MANY BUTTONS CAN A MAN UNDO ON HIS SHIRT?

A: Two, maximum. Three if you’re on a yacht. Four only if you own the yacht.
