LIFE SUMMER 2017

THE CHANGING FACE OF OUR CITY

In the last 12 months, Liverpool’s city centre has been transformed with a number of significant projects completed and more to come. “We are proud of the revitalised city centre, including the upgraded Bigge Park and Macquarie Mall, and we are keen to share the vibrant heart of the city with the rest of Sydney,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said. “In October, thousands flocked to the city centre for the Eat Your Heart Out festival and thousands more enjoy the Mall every day. “Our city is booming – its diverse and vibrant population of 212,000 people is growing with 100 new residents every week, driving a boom in residential construction and retail. “Now WSA Co – the company that will build and run Western Sydney Airport – has opened its doors in the city centre and early next year Western Sydney University will open its state-of-the-art city campus for 3500 students. “All this means more jobs for local people, more choice and a better quality of life for our residents.” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller

2017 SENIORS CONCERT SUCCESS

Hundreds of residents enjoyed Liverpool City Council’s Seniors Concert at Liverpool Catholic Club on 15 and 16 November 2017. Classically trained vocalist Davidia showed the audience why she was chosen to perform with Hugh Jackman at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Committee Dinner and for former Prime Minister John Howard and Princess Anne. Award-winning performer Peter Paki took time out from touring the globe to sing a variety of music from his homeland, New Zealand, mixed in with a little rock-n-roll. The Seniors Concert has had a special place in Liverpool’s events calendar for 26 years and will have long into the future.
