The Real Wedding of
KRISTA & PHILLIP DURAN
Krista and Phillip always wanted to be married in a barn. They ended up finding their ideal venue, which had the perfect balance between rustic chic and quiet elegance. The flowers are what helped Krista decide on the color palette. Looking at their venue, she saw so many natural elements and knew wildflowers were the right choice. Their bright colors stood out beautifully against the natural wood details and the refined white elements.
Krista even had her bridesmaids wear colors close to white so that the flowers popped even more! The venue already had a lot of natural beauty with the vineyard and pond on the property, so Krista and Phillip didn’t have to do much to make the space shine!

The most important thing to Krista and Phillip was having their closest loved ones there to celebrate with them. They were also able to incorporate someone who unfortunately passed before they could be wed. “My Omi made sure to give me her engagement ring before she passed away—she wanted me to have it,” Krista shares. “My husband had the diamonds from her ring set into my wedding band. It's so meaningful because I know how much she would have loved him, and I always say she sent him to me.”

This year, designers and creative teams were challenged to craft memorable shoots inspired by the 2025 Pantone Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, while bringing their vision to life within one of three distinctive themes: The Art of Weddings, A Moment in Time and Embrace the Unexpected.
As always, our submissions blew us away with their creativity, artistry and attention to detail—making crowning our winner anything but easy! Read on to see this year’s champion and the gorgeous details that set their shoot apart. Plus, don't miss our memorable runner-up and the exceptional talent of our standout finalist!

If Old Masters’ paintings met modern sculpture, this would be the result. Kris Livovich of Sugarfield Flowers, the florist and coordinator behind this shoot, dreamed in texture, drama and rich, romantic color. Her concept blends classic romance—think lace sleeves, candlelight and moody lighting—with a bold, modern twist. Captured beautifully by Trysh Jaeger Photography, the editorial showcases deep reds, mocha tones, soft golds and plenty of mood!
This shoot featured two brides from two different worlds. The traditional bride was all about oldworld romance in a lace long-sleeved gown. Her mantilla veil added that whisper of vintage charm, while her hair was styled into a sleek chignon that screamed timeless elegance. Her makeup was kept soft and luminous—like a painting brought to life. The modern bride, on the other hand, was giving runway realness! The sleek gown and minimalist styling brought major high-fashion energy. Her glossy Hollywood waves and pearlaccented makeup were perfectly on-trend, proving that simple can still make a serious statement!
Allure on the Lake might as well have been made for this concept! Its mix of rustic charm (hello, exposed brick!) and modern polish gave the team the perfect blank canvas to allow their décor to shine. Utilizing velvet, candles, candelabras and just a hint of drama, this setup was designed to make hearts flutter! AAYS Event Rentals brought in serious luxury with velvet linens, mocha dinner plates and gold flatware. We're also obsessed with the jawdropping custom seating chart and flowing drapery used in the ceremony space. "Every element, from the stationery by Andrea Rochelle Art to the curated furniture for the portrait station by Spare Room Studios, was selected to tell a coherent story: that the beauty of tradition is eternal, but that love, like art, must always evolve," Trysh explains.
The 2025 Pantone Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, ties it all together, appearing in dinnerware, décor, florals and desserts for a cohesive, sophisticated palette!
“We hope this editorial sparks inspiration and resonates with couples seeking to create their own unforgettable moments,” shares Trysh.

When it came to stationery, the team handed the creative reins to Andrea Rochelle Art—and she ran with it. The result? Elegant paper goods that added the perfect fine-art touch to this editorial dreamscape. As for the desserts, they were as sweet as they were meaningful—a perfect finishing note for a shoot all about timeless artistry!
Regency Romance
When Jennifer Livingston and Kayla Joughin of Celadon & Sage set out to design their entry for WeddingDay’s 2025 Style Shoot Design Contest, they were influenced by the renewed love for all things Regency thanks to the hit Netflix series Bridgerton. "Inspired by the way brides we work with have been embracing feminine and whimsical elements on their special days, we envisioned playful lace, delicate ribbon, opulent candelabras and soft natural light for this shoot," Jennifer and Kayla explain. The result was a romantic, pastel dream filled with playful elegance and a dash of rebellion. Blending the nostalgia of a Regency-era garden party with a fresh, modern approach, the shoot layers ombré tones of blush rose, warm mocha and natural greens for a timeless and romantic celebration! For their Regency-meets-modern affair, the Celadon & Sage team found their perfect locale in Southwest Michigan. "We did not think twice about shooting at The Grand LV in Niles, Michigan, for its historic charm and timeless elegance," Jennifer and Kayla rave. Built in 1928, the venue’s high ceilings, crown molding and flood of natural light in its Kull Memorial Stateroom offered elegance in spades. Plus, its gilded mirrors, velvet seating and timeless palette made it feel like instant royalty!
The décor perfectly blended English garden elegance with a modern-day soirée, creating a scene that felt both timeless and refreshingly playful. A caterpillar-style dinner table wound gracefully through the room, inviting conversation like a Regency ball. Ombré lace linens flowed from blush to mocha, while vintage arches, Greek columns and eclectic dinnerware from Celadon & Sage’s secondhand collection blended history with sustainability. Jennifer and Kayla explain, “As with all of our Celadon & Sage tablescapes, mix-and-match dinnerware and décor makes for a truly unique experience for each guest, as each table setting is one-of-a-kind." And of course, there were parasols—a playful nod to London strolls and the perfect touch of whimsy!
Instead of overwhelming the palette, Celadon & Sage used the 2025 Pantone Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, as the grounding note in their romantic ombré scheme. It appeared in the groom’s suit, the table linens, scattered cherries on the tablescape, and even in the cake design. The result was an understated yet luxurious color story that felt organic and deeply romantic!
The shoot's floral design was pure poetry. Lush blooms flowed in a delicate ombré from blush to mocha, with sculptural shapes that blurred the line between classic and modern. The bride’s bouquet featured hydrangeas and roses—the ultimate English garden staples—paired with anthuriums, an exotic Regency import that added an unexpected edge. Pearls were even worked into the groom’s boutonniere for an extra dose of opulence!
The bride was the very definition of modern royalty! She donned a satin gown featuring a corset-style bodice and flowing skirt which gave classic princess energy with a modern silhouette. Her hair was styled half-up with soft curls and topped with a dainty tiara, while her makeup stayed light and rosy with soft peach undertones.
Because no Regency-inspired celebration is complete without an extravagant dessert display, the team included a tiered cake that channeled the ornate beauty of the era. The intricate frosting and contrast of soft and bold tones kept it timeless yet trendy. Displayed on a pedestal—a cheeky nod to Regency architecture—it was joined by a tower of macarons at an afternoon tea station that would’ve made the Queen of England smile!
Staying true to their D.I.Y. roots, Jennifer and Kayla designed their own menus for this shoot, adorning them with delicate ribbons that echoed through the décor. The simplicity of the stationery allowed the other details to shine while still carrying that soft, romantic energy. With its dreamy florals, delicate details and commitment to sustainability, this shoot proves that you don’t need to live in a palace to feel like royalty—just a vision, a talented team and a touch of Mocha Mousse!
Inspired by the rich, earthy elegance of Pantone’s Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse, this finalist team set out to design a modern wedding shoot that perfectly blended luxury, inclusivity and timeless charm. Their backdrop? The historic Colvin House, a marble-adorned Chicago gem just steps from Lake Michigan. With its neutral stone, vintage character and versatile outdoor courtyard, the venue set the tone for a shoot that felt both elevated and inviting!
The vision began with the desire to pair Mocha Mousse with the deep marble tones of the venue. When finding the right florist didn’t go as planned, the team took matters into their own hands, crafting arrangements from fresh market flowers in tones of blush, ivory and white accentuated with greenery—a beautiful contrast to the neutral-toned tablescape highlighted by mocha-hued candles and elegant yet understated tableware!
Wedding fashion played a key role in elevating the narrative. The first bride wore her own wedding dress for a stunning encore moment at the same venue where she married her husband just one year earlier. The second donned chic, timeless gowns rented from Diana’s Bridal that were chosen for comfort and classic beauty—perfectly in step with the shoot’s polished aesthetic. Hair and makeup stayed natural and refined, emphasizing nude and neutral shades that aligned with the overall palette.
Every detail was carefully curated to reflect the mocha-inspired theme. Stationery featured cursive lettering on cream and beige tones for a timeless feel. The dessert spread carried the color palette through espresso martinis, brownies, macarons and scones—creating a visual and sensory experience rooted in modern elegance. Even the trend-forward touches, like a Polaroid camera guest moment, tapered candles and a family-style dinner service, made this shoot feel like a fresh take on today’s wedding scene!
Ultimately, Mocha Mousse didn’t just guide the color palette—it acted as the foundation for a true work of art. By letting every detail embody the contest theme of The Art of Weddings, this team turned a contemporary vision into a beautifully cohesive and inspiring celebration of love, diversity and design!

The Real Wedding of
LAYNE & BOBBY PADILLA
Springtime Romance
THEME: SEASON: VENUE:
Spring 19 North by Froehlich's Three Oaks, MI
Inspired by the delicate and fresh feel of spring, Layne and Bobby chose baby blue, peach, blush, gold and ivory for their wedding colors. We love their decision to keep the florals mostly ivory while adding a few bright blooms, creating the perfect pop of color against their clean, sophisticated look. One of our favorite details from the day was the display of repurposed wedding photos of loved ones, thoughtfully incorporated into the reception décor. It’s a unique way to honor all the happy marriages that came before theirs! Many of the other décor items around their venue came from their brilliant and wonderful planners that Layne actually had a leg-up in finding. “I did extensive vendor research for my sister’s wedding in 2022, especially through word of mouth. We ended up using the same planner, photographer and beauty team that were all great to work with for my sister’s wedding,” Layne shares.
WHAT WE love
Finding their venue was pure happenstance! On their way to tour a different venue, Layne and her family stopped into Froehlich’s for a wonderful breakfast. There, they noticed advertising for Froehlich’s event space, 19 North. Layne gushes, “Walking into the 19 North venue for the first time took my breath away and it felt like a much better fit with my vision than the other venues we saw. I’m so happy we stumbled into it and can’t imagine our wedding happening anywhere else!”

THE EASIEST GUIDE TO
AFTER THE WEDDING changing your last name
Y our newlywed bliss can quickly come to an end when it comes time to endure the dreaded task of changing your last name. The legal process can often take the romance out of taking your significant other’s last name. If you get yourself organized with the proper documents, the process can be less strenuous, allowing you to continue to revel in your newlywed happiness.
1.
GET THE ORIGINAL MARRIAGE LICENSE FROM THE CLERK’S OFFICE
The original license should come from the clerk’s office where your license was filed. One should automatically be sent to you a couple weeks after the wedding. The original document should have a raised seal and your new last name. Also, it’s a good idea to request copies.
2. REQUEST A NEW SOCIAL SECURITY CARD
If you visit the Social Security Administration’s website, you can find an application for a change of name here. This is a free service. Print the application, fill it out, and include any required documents. You can either take your application to a nearby Social Security office or mail it in. You should receive your new card with your new last name in approximately 10 days.
3.
APPLY FOR A NEW LICENSE AT THE BMV
Getting a new license from the local Bureau of Motor Vehicles office requires a few documents, namely your old license, the original marriage license and your new Social Security card. Remember to change your address if you have moved after the wedding.
4.
CHANGE YOUR LAST NAME WITH YOUR HR DEPARTMENT
When your new Social Security card comes in the mail, meet with your HR manager at work to switch your name over. This includes payroll, 401k, your insurance benefits, stocks etc.
5.
UPDATE YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION
The easiest way to do this is to visit your local branch in person. Take your new license, your marriage license and your new Social Security card, and ask for your name to be changed on your account. Request new checks, debit cards and credit cards with your new name.
6.
UPDATE YOUR LAST NAME ON OTHER MISCELLANEOUS ACCOUNTS
As time goes on, you will remember more accounts that your last name must be changed on. Remember to keep all of the necessary documents within reach to easily change your name.

Rachel and Ethan’s wedding was a dreamy blend of European-inspired romance and heartfelt personal storytelling, all set against an enchanting backdrop. Drawn to their venue’s ivy-covered walls, lush gardens and intimate charm, they found the French- and Italian-inspired aesthetic they loved—without ever crossing an ocean. Their colorful palette echoed the vibrant grounds, creating a beautiful fusion of sophistication and whimsy. Thoughtful touches made the celebration uniquely theirs, from a mariachi band honoring Ethan’s Mexican heritage at the welcome party to custom paper fans featuring a map of the venue and matchbooks illustrated with meaningful places from their love story.
WHAT WE love
Meg Rodgers, Harpist, brought an ethereal touch to Rachel and Ethan’s celebration with her elegant live harp music. Her performance added a layer of romance and serenity that perfectly complemented the enchanting, European-inspired atmosphere of their day!

The Vision
The vision for our fall/winter 2025 Southwest Michigan cover shoot was rooted in “Western Glam,” a concept crafted by planner Gina Bombin-Wilk of SRE Weddings & Events. Inspired by the bold, high-fashion energy of Canadian skijoring events, Gina envisioned a world where winter luxury meets rugged western spirit. Gina explains, "The spectators come dressed in their winter best. Decked out in fancy cowboy hats and boots, fur coats, leather, texture and earthy tones and colors." Paired with a palette of fresh whites, striking blues, warm browns and shimmering accents, the result is a look that feels both natural and elevated, blending the raw beauty of a western ranch with the sparkle and sophistication of winter glam!
The Venue
The Section House Event Space proved to be the perfect setting for our Western Glam vision, offering both character and versatility in every corner. While the venue boasts a stunning outdoor greenspace for ceremonies, cold rain brought the celebration indoors—an easy shift thanks to the abundance of beautifully textured, stylish spaces inside! With its cozy industrial vibe, original warm wood floors, black-and-white walls and copper accents, the venue naturally echoed the refined western aesthetic of the shoot. Though choosing from its many colors, textures and design options was a challenge in the best way, The Section House provided the ideal backdrop for blending rugged charm with elevated winter luxury!
The Decor
The décor pulled directly from the natural, organic palette of a western ranch while elevating it with layers of rich texture and subtle glamour. Soft, two-toned linens and peacock-blue napkins formed the perfect foundation, accented by scalloped gold chargers, modern black stoneware and gold-rimmed bone china for a balanced mix of rustic warmth and refined style. Black flatware added contrast, while Melodia drinkware—with its etched glass and gold details—brought a touch of winter sparkle. Centerpieces combined antique brass candleholders, black tapers inside ribbed hurricanes and ribbed votives to create height, drama and a romantic glow. One standout trend-forward detail was a pair of white vintage metal church candelabras with black candles—statement pieces around which the entire ceremony design was built! '
WEEPING WILLOW PHOTOGRAPHY
The Florals
The florals for the shoot took shape through a beautifully unexpected twist. Originally planned with pink roses in mind, the design shifted the moment Gina discovered striking Balloon plants—unique blooms from the milkweed family that resembled miniature cacti. These became the star of the bouquet, inspiring an organic, desert aesthetic. "Paired with natural grasses and Ying Yang button mums, the flowers looked like something you’d find popping up randomly in the dessert sun," Gina shares. We especially love that the bouquet was designed in a hoop style, with a lasso rope forming the circular handle for a playful nod to the Western theme! To further enhance the Western Glam mood, potted succulents in white textured pots added dimension, texture and a natural, ranch-inspired vibe to the overall design.
The Looks
The models' looks for our Western Glam shoot perfectly captured the blend of rustic charm and elevated glamour that defined the concept. "Working with Madison from Madison Lane Bridal is always fun," Gina raves. "The girl always brings options!" The first gown featured a long-sleeve fitted lace bodice with a full tulle skirt, perfectly flowy for a western-inspired wedding. The second dress was pure showstopper, complete with bell sleeves, an open back, allover lace detailing and subtle shimmer. The looks were paired with a white cowgirl hat and sparkly white boots to fully embody the Western Glam aesthetic! The groom complemented the palette in a tan suit and teal tie. Blushing Beauty & Co styled the bride’s hair in a curled half-up style for the first dress and a chic updo adorned with feathers and flowers for the second, while Jenn Martz Makeup Artistry enhanced her striking features with romantic eye makeup and a soft pink lip—tying together a look that was both playful and elegant.
The Cake
The cake was a stunning blend of rustic charm and elevated elegance. Designed in warm bronze and soft peach tones, the tiered confection featured handcrafted fondant succulents and florals in muted sage and peach. The real show-stealing detail? Delicate turquoise beads that dangled along the bottom tier, adding that quintessential Western flair with a touch of glam. It was the sweetest centerpiece—and a work of art all on its own!

THE SECTION HOUSE EVENT SPACE

They focused on utilizing as many recycled materials as possible to create a space that feels both industrial and intimate—the perfect setting for couples looking to tie the knot.
