A Level Results & Procedures Information Booklet
ADVANCED LEVEL RESULTS AND PROCEDURES 2026
The school will receive the A level results on Thursday, 13th August. You will receive an email containing your results at around 8am and you may collect your results in person between 8.00 am and 3.00pm. Results will not be given by telephone. If you are unable to collect your results you may nominate someone else; however, they must be over 18 years and permission must be requested in writing from Mrs Viola in advance. Alternatively, your results will be sent to you by post.
When you receive your results you might like some more information, advice, or tender loving care. Mrs Cole, Mrs Viola, Ms Hart, and other members of staff will be available to help you at different times on and after, 13th August. The Futures Room will be open on Thursday 13th August, all day, and then until 1pm on Friday 14th August. Come in and use resources, search for course vacancies, and discuss your plans.
If you would like to come in to school at another time, it would be helpful if you could email RHart@lehs.org.uk so that we can make suitable arrangements.
You will no doubt have made your own personal arrangements for keeping in touch with your Tutor.
The following notes are intended as general guidance, and should be used in conjunction with personal consultation, where necessary.
If you come into school, please make sure you have your UCAS ID number with you.
1. Before coming into school, you can check your UCAS Track to see if you have a place.
2. If your results satisfy your firmly held conditional offer, simply wait to hear from UCAS and then reply promptly.
3. If your results are better than expected and you wish to try to alter your choice of university, you can decline your place and go through Clearing instead, however, please speak to a member of the Futures team before doing this as places are unlikely to be available for very competitive courses and universities. A gap year and a post A level application may be more appropriate.
4. If your results are lower than the requirements of your firmly held offer you may still be offered a place. If not, be prepared to phone to see if there are any other options. If you satisfy those of your provisionally held Insurance offer, you should wait to hear from UCAS and act accordingly.
You may be offered a place on an alternative course at your Firm choice university. You are not obliged to accept this, and you should discuss the implications fully with a member of the LEH Futures Team before accepting or rejecting this offer. If you reject the offer, you still have the option of accepting a confirmed Insurance offer.
5. If your results do not meet the requirements of any offer you hold, and the institution is not prepared to lower its offer at this stage:
(a) You should consider Clearing. Clearing information will be sent to you automatically through UCAS if you have failed to gain a place. You could apply for the same subjects on any courses that still have vacancies, or you might be prepared to consider less common (or popular) but related courses, or a combination of subjects. You can telephone universities to see whether they have any places in the subjects you have in mind and negotiate with them in the period before Clearing procedures start.
(b) Details of the Clearing system are available on the UCAS website Clearing | UCAS.
(c) You may consider re-sitting your A levels but remember that the exams can only be taken in the summer term. You can do this at private tutorial colleges or local further education colleges. Details of some of these providers are available in the Futures Room.
(d) UCAS Clearing Plus. This is an optional service, designed to help you find a university or college place, if things don’t go to plan. You can find courses you have been matched to through the ‘My Matches’ button in your application. You can have 5 actives interests at any one time. If none of the matches suit you, you can also find courses that still have availability using the UCAS search tool.

N.B. Do not rush to apply for any course that has vacancies. Consider carefully whether it is the right one for you before you commit yourself. It might be better to take a year out and then make a fresh application.

A LAST WORD
We fully anticipate that most of you will meet the requirements of your offers, accept your places at your first or second choices, and all will be well.
If you do have problems, however, be prepared to take action personally as soon as you can.
The re-mark deadlines are early so talk to staff as soon as possible. REMEMBER MARKS AND GRADES CAN GO UP AND DOWN.
If you wish to have a priority re-mark, only available if your university place depends on a higher grade, you should request this from the Examinations Office on Results Day, after speaking to the Futures Team. The revised result must be passed to the university in question as soon as possible and no later than 3rd September for your place to be confirmed, however this could vary by institution. Please check with your university.
Your universities must be kept informed of any re-marks. They may be willing to hold your place open pending the re-mark, but they are not obliged to do so. It is therefore very important to let them know your situation as soon as possible.
The cost of the re-mark can be paid electronically via online bank transfer to the following registered account:
Bank Name: HSBC UK Bank PLC
Account Name: The Lady Eleanor Holles School
Sort Code: 40-05-20
Account Number: 82291215
Reference: Please use your name as the reference & ‘UCAS 2026 Post AL’
Plenty of advice and information is available. Use it wisely and you may well get what you want, second time around, either through Clearing or through making a fresh application after a year out.

Results Day Checklist
It is important to have everything ready so the process can go as smoothly as possible.
Before the day think about what your plan B or C might be:
• Research universities, colleges, and courses before you get your results to look at all the options.
• Revisit places you have already applied for – would you still consider going there if the course was available?
• Research choices you might be interested in again, including entry requirements.
• Have you explored all the options like apprenticeships or gap years?
Prepare the information you might want to have to hand:
• What are your top choices? Write a list of options (along with the course code and title) that you may want to consider on the day. Clearing vacancies are available on ucas.com from 5 July.
• How do you contact the unis? Many universities will have dedicated clearing webpages to find out the best way to contact them on the day.
• Why do you want that place? You’ll be speaking to universities about why you’re looking to join the course and your achievements, so have some bullet points written down ready in front of you.
• What else is important to you? Think of questions for the university or college: this could be about the location, accommodation, societies, are there bursaries available; anything that will contribute to a positive experience for you.
On the day make sure you have the following items ready:
• A pen and paper ready to make notes.
• A fully charged mobile phone to make calls.
• Your UCAS login details.
• Your Personal ID number.
• Your Clearing number (this will be on your application if you need to use Clearing).
• Your grades.
Other things to keep in mind on results day:
• Double check entry requirements and speak to universities if you are unsure.
• Still waiting for the university to decide? Check to see why and contact them if you're not sure.
• Universities and colleges want to speak to you, not your parents or anyone else.
• If you are offered a course in Clearing remember to ask the university or college how long you have to decide and add this as Clearing choice.
Useful contact numbers:
• UCAS: 0371 468 0 468 or +44 330 333 0230 from outside the UK (international call rates apply).
