Dear Parents/ Carers

We are fast approaching the end of another busy half term here at RVHS. This half term, we have seen our Year 11 and 13 students really focused on their end goals and this has been absolutely wonderful to see. If you are a parent/carer of Year 11 or 13 students, then you will know already that we are right in the middle of PPE2 season for Year 11 and we are fast approaching this period for Year 13 too. If you would like to see any of the recent correspondence on this, then please click here.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind parents/carers about how seriously we deal with any poor behaviour from students who fail to meet our high expectations when it comes to conduct in the exam hall. We want to ensure that all students can do their utmost best in these exams; and to ensure this we need to make sure that the environment is conducive to concentration and success. As always, the vast majority of our students have been excellent and we have dealt with individuals in line with our behaviour policy. Parents and careers of Year 9 were also welcomed onto the school site last night to attend our annual GCSE Options evening. It was wonderful to see our Year 9 cohort so excited about the next stage in their 7 Year Journey with us. If you need any more information on this, then please head to our Options Microsite.

On Thursday 8th February we received a letter from the DfE confirming the next steps to remove RAAC from the school. This is the first communication that we have received regarding any sort of solution to the RAAC affected building. The letter confirms that we will be given a grant for the removal of RAAC at Roding Valley so the building is not going to be knocked down and rebuilt but all RAAC will be removed. In terms of next steps, we will submit further information to the DfE which will determine timelines for removal and repair.
