The Easter holidays are just around the corner as another term has flashed passed. I would like to start by highlighting the fact that we break up next Wednesday the 23rd March at 3.05pm. We are running a full revision programme for Year 11s and 12s over the holidays which will support the students in their preparations for the public examinations. I would like to take the opportunity to thank in advance all of the staff who are giving up their free time to work with the students. Speaking to a number of the Year 11s and 12s, they do feel that the teachers are putting a huge amount of effort into revision sessions after school as well as the usual timetabled lessons. I very much hope that the students take advantage of these extra support sessions and make sure that they are as well prepared as possible for May. On Monday 21st March in place of the Parents' Forum I will be running a Headteacher's Clinic. If any parents have any concerns about any aspect of their child's experience at Roding Valley and would like to discuss the situation with me then please make an appointment with Mrs Sabin ( ssabin@rodingvalley.net ). I will be available between 6pm and 8pm for a series of 15 minute appointments. The last time I ran an evening of this kind I found it very useful as I was able to deal with a number of issues that parents raised. I look forward to seeing as many parents as possible on Monday. Well done to the Year 7 boys' rugby team. They were joint winners of the West Essex Sevens Tournament having won all four of their games. It was only failing light that stopped them from having a play-off against Davenant for the trophy. A sterling performance by all involved and this bodes well for our ambition to develop rugby as a sport at Roding Valley High School. On Monday the Year 7 Boys' Football Team are playing in the final of the Essex Cup. It has been a superb effort to get this far but we are all hoping that they can put on a good display in the final and come home with the silverware. The match is taking place at 4pm at Brentwood School and I am sure that the boys would appreciate as much support as possible. A very large well done to all those students who took part in the Creative Arts evening on Thursday. There was a wonderful art exhibition with many fantastic pieces followed by a great show packed with music, drama and dancing. Thank you to Mr Savage for coordinating the event and to all of the staff who worked so hard to pull everything together to showcase the talents of our students. J Luck Headteacher
