As we close another wonderful year at Hampton Hall Club, I want to take a moment to reflect on all that we have accomplished together in 2025 and share a preview of what is ahead in 2026. Your engagement, support, and pride in our community continue to make Hampton Hall a special place to live and belong.
This year marked an exciting milestone with our community-driven Master Amenities Plan vote. More than 80% of our members participated, and over 70% supported moving forward with Phase One, which focuses on the Main Clubhouse enhancements.
Our next steps include the process of assembling the team to make it all come together, including our architect, general contractor, and oversight advisory group. Once that team is finalized, we will be able to provide a clearer project timeline and move into design development. We look forward to sharing more details and renderings as the project comes to life.

We are proud to share that Hampton Hall Club has maintained its Distinguished Club designation, placing us among the top 4% of private clubs and communities worldwide. This recognition is especially meaningful because it is the only merit-based award in the private club industry.
It is a true reflection of the dedication of our Board of Directors, member volunteers, engaged members, our talented staff, and your professional management team. This recognition not only highlights our commitment to excellence, but also enhances and protects home values throughout our community.
We are very pleased to welcome several new members to our Hampton Hall staff. Each brings valuable experience, enthusiasm, and professionalism to our team. Please join me in welcoming them to the Hampton Hall family.

Our Employees of the Quarter represent the best of Hampton Hall. From long-tenured team members to new faces, each has gone above and beyond to serve our members and support their colleagues. Congratulations and thank you to everyone recognized this year for your hard work and commitment.

Our October New Member Cocktail Party was filled with great conversation, new friendships, and plenty of Hampton Hall spirit! We cannot wait to see our news members again at Hampton Hall 101 on March 11.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our Hampton Hall Ambassadors for the kindness and generosity you show in welcoming new members and helping them feel at home in our community.
Ambassadors play an essential role in ensuring new members feel connected and included at Hampton Hall. Whether through a friendly introduction, an invitation to join a round of golf or a game of tennis, or a simple gesture that encourages participation in social events, you help create the sense of community that makes Hampton Hall so special.
With more than 50 new property owners and close to 25 new golf members joining us between January and October this year, your efforts have been more important than ever. If you are a new member and have not yet connected with your Ambassador, please reach out to the Membership Team—we would be delighted to make an introduction. We are always looking for new Ambassadors to join this wonderful group! If you would like to get involved, please complete the Ambassador Volunteer Form on the Club website at hamptonhallclubsc.com/ ambassador, or join us for our informational meeting on Wednesday, February 4 to learn more.

For Colleen and Justin Imel, golf isn’t just a hobby—it’s been a thread weaving together their lives since childhood. Colleen grew up in the Lowcountry, playing competitive junior golf before continuing her collegiate career at UNC Wilmington and later the University of Dayton (GO FLYERS!). After earning her Master’s in Sport Management at Jacksonville University, she spent several years in Florida working for The Valspar Championship and Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG). Justin, from Bluffton, Indiana, also grew up with golf in his life, playing through college at Huntington University and briefly pursuing professional tours before transitioning into a sales career with Cintas in Jupiter, Florida. It was in South Florida where their paths crossed, but their

hearts always had a home in the Lowcountry. When the chance came to start their own businesses back near Colleen’s family, they didn’t hesitate to return to Bluffton.
Hampton Hall, where Colleen’s parents, Grant and Karen Cully, are residents and golf members, quickly became the perfect fit.
At Hampton Hall, golf remains central to the Imels’ lifestyle. Justin

“Whether it’s golf, traveling, or trying new foods, the Imels embrace a lifestyle full of family, friends, and fun at Hampton Hall.”
can often be found on the course multiple times a week, while Colleen sneaks in rounds whenever she can between work and caring for their 18-month-old daughter, Sloan. The couple also enjoys the vibrant social life at the club. From oyster roasts to wine tastings, they make a point of participating whenever possible.
Outside the gates, family time is paramount. Summers in Boone, North Carolina, provide a cool retreat, while weekends are spent traveling to visit friends or simply enjoying life at home with Sloan and their three dogs, Penelope, Boone, and Phoebe. Colleen’s love for animals is matched by a shared passion for food. The couple enjoys cooking, trying new cuisines, and seeking out renowned chefs wherever their travels take them.
What truly sets Hampton Hall

apart for the Imels is the people. “Everyone has been so kind, welcoming, and friendly,” they say. Sloan has quickly become a familiar face around the club, greeted by members and staff alike with smiles, high-fives, and warm welcomes.
For Colleen and Justin, Hampton Hall represents more than a place to live—it is a lifestyle. The club allows them to slow down, enjoy family and friends, and pursue their passions, all within a community that feels like an extended family. “You’ll meet some of the friendliest people here,” they note. “Neighbors walking, running, walking their dogs, enjoying evening golf cart rides—it’s a community built on connection and kindness.”
For the Imels, returning to their roots in Bluffton and calling Hampton Hall home has been a joyful journey. Between golf, family, and friends, life here offers a blend of relaxation, community, and opportunity—a place where memories are made and traditions continue, both old and new.

“Sloan has become part of the Hampton Hall Family, and she doesn’t even realize how special that is yet.”

BY BRENT CARLSON PGA Director of Golf
Each year, a group of ladies from the Club embarks on a little trip together. These outings have become a highlight of the year for me as so many great memories are made, and we have enjoyed some truly fantastic courses. This year, we traveled to Hammock Beach Resort in Florida, where we played two rounds of golf, shared wonderful meals, and took in some incredible views.
These trips date back to the early days of my time here. I once asked if the group had ever traveled, and was told they had ventured as far as Moss Creek. At that moment, it was announced to the group, “Let’s go somewhere!”—and the rest is history.
Over the years, we have played outstanding tracks such as Daniel Island, Wild Dunes, Bright’s Creek, Amelia Island, Kiawah’s Ocean Course, and Hammock Beach.
Great courses – great times!
Let’s Go Somewhere!

MATT SAPOCHAK | Director of Golf Maintenance & Agronomy
One of the questions I hear most often this time of year is, “Matt, why are you aerating the greens when they’re rolling so well?” It’s a good question and one I hear often during the late fall and winter months.
The answer is simple: aeration is essential to maintaining healthy greens year-round. This process helps control disease, relieves soil compaction, and allows air to reach the roots. These efforts promote stronger, more resilient turf that performs consistently throughout the seasons.
Another question that occasionally comes my way, sometimes through Eric, is, “Why were we off the back nine twice last week?” The reason can vary, from applying fairway fertilizer to installing drainage on a front-nine approach. While these adjustments may cause brief inconveniences, they are important steps in maintaining and improving course conditions.
To keep greens performing at their best, our maintenance program must include more than mowing and rolling. Certain specialized practices and projects are necessary to protect and enhance playing surfaces. Although we schedule most major work for Mondays, weather or timing sometimes requires flexibility. When that happens, our team takes a “Marine mentality”: improvise, adapt, and overcome.
Every project and maintenance decision is made with one goal in mind—to enhance your experience and preserve the golf course in top condition. I appreciate the continued understanding and support of our members as we work to ensure that Hampton Hall remains an enjoyable and well-conditioned course for all Hampton Hall members to play.

10:00–11:30 AM | Round Robin Tennis followed by lunch at Pete’s Grill
BY MICHELE DICARLO, CPT/TPI CERTIFIED Sports, Recreation & Fitness Director
To get into the New Year’s resolution workout mindset before the year begins, start by focusing on sustainable, small changes now to build momentum and avoid the “all-or-nothing” mentality. The holiday season provides a perfect opportunity to establish new habits gradually, so by January 1st, your routine feels natural rather than a drastic, overwhelming change.
YES, I will be offering the 28 Day Challenge in January! Start preparing now.
1. Shift your focus from perfection to progress
Instead of planning a full-scale routine for the new year, start with a more forgiving approach right now to avoid burnout and a negative mindset.
• “Something is better than nothing”: If you only have 10–15 minutes, use it for a walk or some bodyweight squats, rather than skipping a workout entirely. Consistency with small efforts is more effective for building a habit than chasing perfect but unsustainable workouts.
• Create “activity snacks”: Incorporate short, highimpact bursts of activity into your day. For instance, do squats or lunges while waiting for coffee to brew or during a TV commercial break.
2. Set realistic goals now
Use the remaining weeks of the year to test and refine achievable fitness goals. Setting yourself up early for success can build confidence and motivation for the new year. Use the SMART framework:
• Specific: Instead of “getting fit,” aim for “walk 20 minutes, 3 days a week”.
• Measurable: Track your progress with a fitness app or a journal. Use metrics like distance, time, or reps.
• Achievable: Make your goals challenging but realistic. If you’re new to fitness, don’t expect to run a marathon by March.
• Relevant: Your goal should align with your personal values. For example, if you want more energy, focus on consistency over intensity.
• Time-bound: Set deadlines for smaller milestones, like “I will walk three times a week for the next month”.

3. Find your “why” and remember it
Connect your fitness journey to a deeper, personal purpose. This intrinsic motivation is far more powerful than extrinsic motivators like a new year or a temporary reward.
• Ask yourself: Why do I want to do this? Is it to feel more energetic, be a better role model, or feel more confident?
• Write your “why” down and place it somewhere visible, like on your bathroom mirror or phone home screen, to serve as a constant reminder.
4. Create a supportive environment
Make it easy to stay on track by setting up your surroundings for success.
• Prepare your gear: Lay out your workout clothes and shoes the night before. This eliminates a barrier when motivation is low in the morning.
• Find an accountability partner: Exercising with a friend, joining a group class, or using an app with a social component makes you less likely to skip a session.
• Build a fun workout playlist: Upbeat, motivating music can make your workout more enjoyable and energizing.
5. Practice self-compassion, not perfection
If you miss a workout or indulge in a holiday treat, don’t use it as an excuse to give up. Fitness is a lifelong journey, and setbacks are a normal part of the process.
• Forgive your missteps and course-correct. Acknowledge what happened and simply get back on track with your next meal or workout.
• Track weekly progress instead of daily. If you ate healthy meals most days of the week, that’s a win, even if you had one off day.
Hire a trainer and set times on your calendar to work out as if you have a doctor’s appointment you can’t miss.
