TOURNAMENT RULES

Each team will play a nine-hole match against each of the other five teams in their respective flights. All matches will be played “Four Ball Match Play”, Example: a team of two will play their better ball (net) against their opponent’s better ball (net). All nine holes will be played for each match i.e. even if a team is up 5 with 4 to play, the remaining holes must be played. Match Play does not require that a ball be holed out to identify a winner. Strokes may be conceded by either team, at anytime. Handicaps will be used in each match with players receiving strokes off the lowest handicap player in the foursome.

If a team has to drop out during the competition, the matches that were completed will stand and the teams playing the dropped out team will play that match vs. Par. Should one player from a team still be able to play, they can continue the matches in flight play.

A player who is late for his match cannot begin play on a hole if any member of his foursome has played their second shot. If a team abandons the tournament the team is disqualified.

SCORING:

All Flight Champions will be determined by the number of points earned by each team over the five match tournament. All matches will play the full nine holes with a total of 10 points being possible for the nine hole match. A team failing to show for a match will get 0 points, their opponents will be required to play a nine hole match against par.

In the event that weather forces cancellation or stoppage of the tournament, all scores will revert to those existing after the last round completed before the stoppage. The flight winners or shootout participants will be determined based on these scores. Example: Two matches in a flight are completed, but the third match is not complete at stoppage. No scores for the round will count and the match status reverts to the status at the start of the round. If play is canceled or delayed due to rain, the shootout may be held on Sunday.

FLIGHT WINNER TIEBREAKER FORMAT

TWO TEAM TIEBREAKER

Ties will be broken by the results of the head to head match between the two teams. If there is still a tie, a hole by hole match-of-cards playoff will be conducted beginning with hole #9 or hole #18, based of which side was played. The first team to win a hole will be declared the winner. If all holes are halved, the flight prize will be split between the teams and a chip-off will determine the winner.

THREE OR MORE TEAMS

Ties will be broken by the cumulative point total of the matches involving the teams that are tied. If all three teams are still tied all holes are halved, the flight prizes will be split between the teams and a chip-off will determine the winner.

CLAIMS

Deciding Issues by Agreement. During a round without a referee assigned to your match, you and your opponent may agree how to decide a Rules issue. The agreed outcome stands provided you and your opponent did not deliberately agree to ignore any Rule or penalty you both knew applied.

Ruling Request Made Before Result of Match Is Final. When you want a referee or the Committee to decide how to apply the Rules but neither is available in a reasonable time, you may make the request for a ruling by notifying your opponent that a later ruling will be sought when a referee or the Committee becomes available.

SEVERE WEATHER

It is the responsibility of each player to remove themselves from the golf course during lightning or severe weather.

SHOOT-OUT RULES AND FORMAT

The team in each flight with the highest number of points will participate in a shoot-out for Overall Tournament Champion. Partner’s Alternate Shot format will be used. Handicaps will apply. The shoot-out will be played on Holes #10, #11, #17 & #18. Four teams are eliminated on hole #10, and two on holes #11 and #17. (Chip-offs to eliminate ties will be used where needed). The final two teams will play hole #18 for the Championship.

A tie on the last hole will be decided by Sudden Death on hole #18.

THE USGA RULES OF GOLF SHALL GOVERN

PLAY EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING:

1. “Burn lines” define the margins of penalty areas. RED stakes (Lateral) and YELLOW stakes (Water) are used to identify the penalty areas.

2. The “burn lines” marking the edges of hazards are to be played as Ground Under Repair.

3. Out of Bounds are defined by WHITE burn lines, stakes and/or property stakes (GREEN stakes with WHITE tops).

4. A golf ball crossing a lateral lagoon penalty area, which edges the fairway, and landing on the other side is deemed to be Out Of Bounds. The only exception to this rule is the grassy area to the left of the lagoon on #5.

5. A golf ball crossing a community street or road is deemed to be Out Of Bounds even if the ball lands on the golf course on the other side.

6. All sandy areas marked with BLUE stakes are designated as natural areas and therefore are played as “through the green”.

7. Free line-of site-relief may be taken from sprinkler heads around the green provided the heads are within two club-lengths of the green and the ball is within two club-lengths of the sprinkler heads.

8. Free relief may be taken from any newly sodded areas or areas being prepared for sodding.

9. Free relief may be taken for interference with stance or swing from stakes and/or wires supporting trees.

10. A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.

11. Wrong putting green: the practice putting greens right of #9 fairway, adjacent to #9 green and behind #9 green are all defined as a wrong putting green. The player must take relief under rule 13.1f.

Hampton Hall has not adopted the out of bounds local rule.

SPECTATOR GUIDELINES

FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR SPECTATORS, PLEASE OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES:

• Errant shots are a part of the game. For everyone’s safety, please stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. Any guest who is concerned with his or her safety should only position themselves in locations they are comfortable with. It is impossible to eliminate the inherent risks associated with the game of golf.

• Each hole has designated viewing areas.

• Please familiarize yourself with those areas and take your carts to those locations. There will be a volunteer to guide you to these areas.

• At the green complexes on each hole, spectators may move closer to the greens once all players’ balls have reached the greens.

• Please be courteous to the participants and be silent when shots are being played.

Thanks for your cooperation.

HANDICAP ADJUSTMENT

The Member Guest Committee reserves the right to adjust any player’s handicap before and throughout the event.

HANDICAP STROKING

All matches will be played off the low ball in the foursome. Matches will be played at 90% of handicap.

FLIGHT CHALLENGE

THURSDAY AFTERNOON

The weekend starts with a brief and fun event which will allow the golfers to meet the players in their flight. Each team in the flight will play true alternate shot for three assigned holes playing gross (no strokes). The team with the lowest total score for those three holes will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie the teams would select one of it’s members to hit one shot in a “chip off” with the other tied teams. The “chip off” will be officiated by the other members of the flight that are not tied.

GATOR FLIGHT

The Gator Flight is comprised of those teams that are last in their flights after the first three nines of competition. They will continue to compete in the Member Guest but they will also compete amongst themselves for an additional purse. Winners will be determined using the teams’ Saturday points.

If after the first day there are multiple teams in a flight tied for last place, they will all be eligible to compete in the Gator Flight. Besides adding to the fun on the weekend, the Gator Flight has been developed to ensure the maximum number of teams have an opportunity for success.

FATHER/SON

Fathers playing golf with their sons is a joy to witness. There will be a prize for the Father/Son team that accumulates the most points this weekend. This includes father-in-laws and son-in-laws.
