The Perfect Love Story

Everybody wants that perfect love story, the “knight in shining armor” kind of story. For lonely hearts, both young and old, especially around Valentine’s Day, the loneliness and depression become worse. We wonder why that special someone hasn’t shown up yet and if there’s something wrong with us. God’s timing is everything! His plans for us are so much better than we could ever dream up! But the waiting is so hard when you look around and see everyone else in love or getting

married. In the meantime, this verse speaks volumes about the one who truly loves us better than anyone could. “He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17). Talk about a love story!

I love to find nuggets of knowledge in the Word like this that are so encouraging in times of desperation. God loves us so much He rejoices over every good thing we accomplish in His name. He knows when we are sad or mad and quiets our spirits with signs of His love. When you have a really good day, it’s because of Him. He aligns the events of your life to create the best outcomes. “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). Being a singer, this is my favorite part: “He rejoices over you with singing.” The lover of my soul sings love songs to me!

One morning, when my children were young, I had the day off, and my two sons were also off from school. I had turned off the alarm on my clock radio so that it wouldn’t wake us. I was in the best sleep I’d had in a good while. Then, I heard singing, kind of in the background. It was the most beautiful singing I’d ever heard. I felt so much peace. My conscious mind slowly fought its way to the surface. I thought, “That radio alarm has come on after I turned it off last night!” Now I was awake, so I slowly opened my eyes and reached over to turn the radio back off so that my sons across the hall wouldn’t wake up. When I tried to turn it off, I realized it WAS off! It was not playing! I just had to ask out loud, “Lord, was that you and the angels singing songs to me?” I found this gem of a verse later on, and it made perfect sense to me.

God knows what’s best for us in each season of our lives. “He works all things for our good…” (Romans 8:28). When we are in the waiting room of life, hoping and praying for love or other miracles, don’t give up! God loves us and wants to give us good things. It just might not be the right time, but God’s timing is always right on time!
