1Timothy 6:6-8: “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”
As I was walking this morning, I remembered something that happened to me when I was a child. I had spent the night with my great-uncle and aunt who had a small farm not far from where I lived. They had a milk cow that they had to milk every day. They gave me the opportunity to try and milk her. I don’t remember a whole lot about the event other than that they showed me how it was supposed to be done. Then they let me try my hand at it. They made it look quite easy.
As I tried, it just was not working out for me. The cow must have sensed my nervousness and that I was a stranger to her. I have heard that contented cows give more milk. I seem to remember that they would feed her first before they started milking her. Now, come to think of it, I have heard that playing music helps to make a cow contented. I guess it depends on the type of music that you play. So what does it mean to you in your life to be content? Our cat is content to find herself a warm place in the sun. I am thankful that when life can become overwhelming, I can find contentment in trusting God with my life.
Hebrews 13:5: “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such
things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake.” 1 Peter 5:7: “Casting all your care upon Him, for he careth for you.”
I’m praying that you can find that contentment today that can only be found in trusting the Good Lord. I pray for God’s blessing for you always.
