EASTON Lawyers has been part of the Maleny community for more than 35 years, and its recent induction into the Glassies Hall of Fame conļ¬rms its status as one of the regionās most enduring and respected businesses.
While the ļ¬rm has undergone changes in name over the decades, its commitment to the community has remained consistent.
Manager Sharon Schoļ¬eld, who has led the oļ¬ice for the past 35 years, was herself previously inducted into the Glassies Employee Hall of Fame.
āItās just one way for us to get a little bit of a reward,ā Ms Schoļ¬eld said.
āIn this industry, you can kind of slog away, so the recognition is nice.
āEveryone works so hard here, and it can be a tricky industry ā it gets tough and stressful ā so I think itās a nice distraction too.ā
While some staļ¬ prefer to remain out of the spotlight, Ms Schoļ¬eld said the team was proud of the ļ¬rmās Hall of Fame recognition.
āEveryoneās very proud of what they do, weāve all got each otherās back, and I think it solidiļ¬es that we are the longest-serving law ļ¬rm in Maleny,ā she said.
āThe awards have been running for nine years now, and I think thereās only been two years where we havenāt been nominated.ā
Since the Glassies were launched by Glass House MP Andrew Powell in 2016, Easton Lawyers has received six awards.
Ms Schoļ¬eld said more businesses in the region should consider embracing the value of the awards.
āI donāt think businesses value them enoughā she said.
āFrom an employeeās point of view, I think bosses should also acknowledge it more, because a boss can nominate an employee.
āI think thatās important

as well ā the business itself, which the boss predominantly gets the recognition for ā employees will always need to be boosted up.ā
Operating out of 62 Maple Street since the mid-1980s, the premises once belonged to the well-known Lyons family.
The ļ¬rm has been owned by Tove Easton for the past 18 years and specialises in select areas of general law.
āWe do all general law ā so property law, wills and estates, leasing commercial ā no family law or litigation,ā Ms Schoļ¬ said.
āWe have ļ¬rms that we trust and send our clients to if they ever need help with a type of law we donāt cover.

charged cases often involved estates.
āWe have strong relationships with these ļ¬rms and we know that our clients are going to be looked after as we would want to look after them.ā
She said the most complex and emotionally
āThereās often stoushes with estates, especially these days, and whether itās interesting or not, weāre here to help people,ā she said. āPeople are really sad when it comes to estates and itās daunting, but thatās
what we are here for.
āWe help people get through some of the toughest times.ā
All members of the Easton Lawyers team are locals, further strengthening their standing in the community.
āI went to school here, Simone our receptionist
went to school here ā weāre all here long term and we are proud to be a part of this community,ā Ms Schoļ¬eld said.
