“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV) ~ “Wonder of wonders; miracle of miracles…” I know, those are lyrics from Fiddler on the Roof — and it has nothing at all to do with baseball — that is if you don’t happen to be a San Diego Padres fan. But if you are a Pads Fan — then it might just have about everything to do with baseball! Just in case you missed it, the Padres had played 8,205 games, dating back to their inception in 1969, without holding an opponent hitless for one full game. They were the only currently existing Major League Team to never have a No-Hitter! That is until two weeks ago Friday night in Texas. El Cajon native (in San Diego County) and new Padre’s pitcher this year, Joe Musgrove, threw his first ever No-Hitter at any level of his career and the first ever for the Padres. Now they are known as the last team to have a No-Hitter rather than the only team without one. Joe Musgrove grew up a Padres fan and always dreamed of playing for them. In only his second game with the Padres he we was near perfect. The only opposing batter to reach base did so when Joe hit him with a pitch. No No-Hitter to last No-Hitter is an important distinction in baseball. You can even see it in the swagger depicted in the mural just added to a wall of his high school that weekend.
“Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” “That’s Why We Praise Him” Offerings and Connection Cards will be collected in the Offering Boxes located just inside the two main entrances into our Worship Center, as well as in the Office Hallway.

In much the same way, how others see us and how we see ourselves is an important part of our spiritual lives. For example, Non-Approved vs. Approved is a giant distinction! A No-Hitter in baseball may or may not be God intervening in human history — or even in our personal lives — in a miraculous way. However, when God declares us approved in His sight — that most definitely involves a miracle on His part. Way harder to imagine than the Padres with a No-Hitter, is that you and I are now a new creation! I don’t know about your life — but I do know mine — and I am certainly anything but holy, righteous, good, or worthy in any way of God’s approval. In my own eyes I am not even worthy of asking for God’s approval. continued
