“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.’” ~ Matthew 28:5-6 ~ Words mean something. Just think about it. Guys, when you told your wife that you love her for the very first time — that meant something, didn’t it? I expect that you gave it some thought before you told her. Why? Because what you said was going to have implications for the rest of your life! Should you ever find yourself on the witness stand in a court case, the words that you say there will also mean something. Those words can carry implications for the rest of your life as well. In fact, Jesus says that all our words matter. They all mean something. They all carry implications — and even consequences. I am writing this the Thursday before Easter Sunday. That means I am writing at just about the hour 2,000 years ago that Jesus was in the garden in prayer with His sleepy disciples — well, with all except one. Judas was busy leading the soldiers there to arrest Jesus — and thus began the excruciating night and early morning of suffering that would to lead to His crucifixion at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning. Why was Jesus in that garden? Surely the Son of God must have known what was about to happen. Why not just be somewhere else? Why? Because the words God uses mean something! Like our words, they also have implications and consequences.
