Sunday Worship Father’s Day Welcome

June 21, 2020

June 21, 2020 at a glance… with Pastor Terrell

“He Has Made Me Glad” “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” ~ Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV) ~

Global Running Day is a day that celebrates the sport of running. It is held annually on the first Wednesday of June. Participants of all ages and abilities pledge to take part in some type of running activity by submitting their names through the Global Running Day website. Apparently, this is a pretty big thing. On that day, more than one million runners from 170 countries logged just over 20 million miles of running.

Me? Well, I logged in exactly zero miles of running on that day. Instead, I sat at my desk almost all day. However, I did do something running related. I paid to compete in a Half-Marathon Race — scheduled for next February. I did that partly because I am tired of sitting at my desk so much. I am tired of the Covid19 around my waist, and a great deal was offered on that day for the entry fee. At almost half off the normal price. I must admit that may have been the main reason I entered. That was Wednesday, June 3rd. I got out my running shoes and started to run again — Tuesday, June 16th. That’s right. I waited 2 weeks to finally begin to run! We do the same type of thing in so many ways in our daily Christian walk. We know the right things to do. We know that we should do the right things to do. We commit to do the right things to do. Then we procrastinate doing the right things to do — or we just never do the right things to do at all.
