November 1999. 20 years ago, this month. That’s when a “Cosmic Call” was placed to 16 Cyg A — a star — sixty-nine light years from earth. The call was made using the 70meter Eupatoria Planetary Radar, Eurasia’s largest radar. This “message to extraterrestrial intelligence” is not scheduled to arrive at it’s intended location until November 2069 — 50 years from now. Of course, most of you reading this will be in heaven by then — or almost ready to go — so we will never know who answered the call. Personally, I don’t think anyone will pick up the phone, but that’s neither here nor there for what I want to share. I am amazed that even using the largest radar available — and traveling at the speed of light — one single message takes seventy years to get to another star in a different solar system. And that solar system is not all that far from our solar system in the big picture of the size of the universe. Then I remind myself that Jesus created it all. And “all” means “all.” God is not contained within the universe, He created it. Jesus simply spoke everything that exists into being — and it was made. He holds it all — including us — in the palm of His hand. Can you even begin to imagine how terrible life would be if every time you needed to send a message to Jesus — we actually call that “prayer” — that it would take seventy years to get to Him. Of course, then His reply would take another seventy years to get back to us. That would mean a one-hundred-forty-year delay in communication. We would never live long enough to have even one answered prayer! Well I have good news. We can talk with God right now. We can talk with God continuously. We can talk with God immediately. And we don’t even have to have access to Eurasia’s largest radar to make it happen. continued
