As I have thought about their lives and ministries — one man in his early 40’s and the other 99 years old — I am reminded of a poem written by Linda Ellis: I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone, from beginning to the end. He noted first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears; But he said what mattered most of all, was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth; And now only those who loved her, know what that little line is worth. For it matters not how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash. What matters is how we live and love, and how we spend the dash.

Whether at teenager, someone now entering middle age, or just short of living 100 years, the “dash” is all we get here. How will you spend yours? Blessings on your week as you evaluate your spending habits when it comes to the “dash.”

IMMOVABLE STANDING YOUR GROUND IN A CULTURE OF CHAOS The Chaos of Conflict Ephesians 4:25-32

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~ Romans 8:38-39 (ESV) ~

THE JOURNEY INTO Seeds of Change

Matthew 18:1-4

As I write this morning — Thursday — we are now finished with an intense week. We have seen some devastating events at one end of the spectrum, and some blessed events at the other.

One week ago, it was the school shooting at Parkland, Florida. Seventeen precious lives were tragically taken. Our country is still reeling from the after-effects of that day. As we search for reasons and answers, we come back to the truth that God indeed loves us still and that He is always near.

TUESDAY:

At the other end of the events of the previous week, stands the death of two great men of God. Pastor Shane Hall, who was the pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City, OK, went home to be with the Lord last Thursday afternoon. He was my daughter, Courtney, and her families pastor for the past few years. I always enjoyed hearing him preach when visiting there.

Then, yesterday, Evangelist Billy Graham also went home to be with the Lord. This is a man who impacted not only the United States, but the world, with the message of the cross. There are few Christians today who have not been blessed somehow by his long ministry of Crusades and television broadcasts.

It is the season to begin our youth fundraising for camp in earnest. Our youth are willing and able to help you around the house or yard with any work you need done to earn their way to camp. This will also help them to build up their work ethic for their future employment. Please call me to set up a time to see if we can help you with your jobs that you may have. The youth are also planning a bowling trip next month to invite their friends to. If you know someone who may want to go, this is a free event. The date is not set yet so stay tuned. In our Bible studies, we are studying about the importance of relying on God for our focus and strength. Please continue to pray for our ministry to students and for camp that is coming this summer. There is room still for a few so let them know. Thank you all, Don Gagnon Minister to youth
