MILA SEMESHKINA

This is our third WE Convention and our second joint edition with Entrepreneur Middle East. Each year the WE Convention grows in scale, ambition, and impact, with more visionary speakers, more participants from around the world, and deeper, more transformative conversations. What began as a bold idea has now become a global movement.

This year our focus is clear: a woman can be successful in every dimension of her life. She can build a thriving career, achieve financial independence, and lead a rich and connected social life. We are putting a spotlight on career growth and financial empowerment, two areas that have historically been out of reach for many women. Now the doors are open, and it is time to walk through them. There are no limits to what a woman can accomplish and no reason to compromise. And together we are redefining success and expanding what is possible.

For too long women were told to choose. Career or family. Ambition or balance. Success or love. That era is over. A modern woman can be a leader in business, a devoted partner, a caring mother, and an active force in her community, all on her own terms. She can build wealth, shape culture, and pursue her passions with purpose and confidence.

The extraordinary women featured in this edition and those joining us at the WE Convention are living proof that there are no boundaries, only horizons waiting to be reached.

This issue of Entrepreneur Middle East is a celebration of that unstoppable spirit.

For our third WE Convention, and our second joint edition with the WE Council,

I’m delighted that Mila Semeshkina chose to focus on the wholeness of a woman’s life — career, family, health, community, and everything in between.

Women have always worn many hats — often with too little recognition. Yet the difference today, as Mila rightly pointed out, is that they can now do it on their own terms.

There is also a powerful distinction between having to and being empowered — personally, professionally, and socially — to give their best in every area of life without losing themselves or their vision for the future.

And just as importantly, women can, and should, do it all at their own pace — allowing themselves the time and space to focus on whichever part of their lives needs them most at any given moment.

Because even those you see in magazines or on stages aren’t people who have it all figured out — they’ve simply learned to juggle it all, on their own terms and at their own pace. Don’t ask how I know.

Warm regards,

THE ALL NEW NISSAN PATROL

PIA ALONZO WURTZBACH-JAUNCEY

Host, Advocate, Entrepreneur, and Former Miss Universe

TURNING POINT

“There was not one dramatic moment; it was more of a turning point that came from something deeply personal. When my parents separated everything shifted. I was very young, but it taught me responsibility early. My mom, my sister, and I were left on our own, and that was when I started modeling at 11. What began as something fun quickly became a lifeline.”

PIA ALONZO WURTZBACH-JAUNCEY is a FilipinoGerman actress, model, television host, and humanitarian best known for being crowned Miss Universe 2015. Born in Stuttgart, Germany, and raised in the Philippines, WurtzbachJauncey began her career in entertainment at a young age under the screen name Pia Romero, appearing in television shows and films before entering the world of pageantry. At a very young age, following the separation of her parents, she learnt

“Every peso I earned from modeling and acting went to supporting my family,” WurtzbachJauncey recalls. “It was not just about being in front of the camera after a point–it was about survival. I had to do well, not for fame, but because our household depended on it. That experience, though painful, taught me the value of hard work, discipline, and money at an age when most kids were just discovering hobbies. I would not call it a tragedy anymore. It was a defining moment. It gave me grit and a purpose that has never left me. Turning that loss into fuel is one of the things I am most proud of because it shaped not just my career but who I became as a woman.”

SIGNATURE SKILL Media leadership, social impact, and brand building

Indeed, it was that determination and grace that earned her the Miss Universe Philippines title after multiple attempts, which ultimately led to her historic Miss Universe win in 2015.

Beyond the spotlight, Wurtzbach-Jauncey has built a reputation as a global advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness, gender equality, and mental health. She has worked closely with UNICEF and other organizations to champion social causes, using her platform to inspire confidence and authenticity among young women. In recent years, she has expanded her influence as a host, author, and entrepreneur, while continuing to embody resilience and purpose. Married to Scottish entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey, founder of Beautiful Destinations, WurtzbachJauncey balances her life between advocacy, creativity, and a global lifestyle.

When asked to share some nuggets of wisdom, the multifaceted Wurtzbach-Jauncey warns against two vices: choosing financially lucrative opportunities that don’t align with one’s values, and prioritizing quick gains. “I learned that every ‘yes’ has a cost,” she says. “If a project does not fit your brand or your integrity, the short-term reward is not worth the long-term confusion it creates for your career. Another difficult decision was investing in myself instead of chasing instant gratification. I used to save money for new clothes or gadgets, but later I realized that education, training, and personal

growth give a far better return. It is not easy to turn down a paycheck but those decisions built the foundation for the stability I have today. Sometimes the best financial move is not what you earn. It is what you choose to walk away from.”

CAREER

“If I could give one mindset shift, it would be this. Do not chase money, chase stability. When you are stable, the money flows naturally. And when you have peace, you can show up for others better. True success is being able to sleep peacefully and wake up inspired to help someone else.”

MONEY

“When I was starting out, I made two promises to myself. Never accumulate debt, and always have a safety net. Debt slows you down. It keeps you up at night and robs you of focus. That is why I did not get my first credit card until after Miss Universe. I used a debit card, worked with what I had, and avoided the trap of spending money I did not earn yet. I also learned to always save something, even a small amount. It is not for shopping or sales. It is for emergencies because life will always surprise you. And one more thing, never lend money. If you want to help, give what you can without expecting it back. Money can change relationships faster than you think. The bottom line is to stay debt-free, save consistently, and spend wisely. These sound simple, but they are what allowed me to build peace and freedom later on.”

LIFE

“The first thing I learned is that discipline does not mean burnout. You can be ambitious and still take care of yourself. Early in my career, I thought I had to say yes to everything because I was afraid the offers would stop coming. The truth is, boundaries protect your longevity. I now treat my energy like currency. I plan my week around rest just as much as work. I take care of my body, I try to eat well, I sleep properly, and I move. I also keep a small circle of people I can trust and talk to because mental health is a huge part of success. Going all in does not mean losing yourself in the process. It means giving your best without breaking your spirit. You cannot pour from an empty cup, and sometimes the bravest thing you can do for your career is to slow down.”

SUCCESS

“My definition of success used to be about work, closing big deals, ticking off achievements, and earning more. Over time, I realized success also means peace. It means sleeping eight hours with no anxiety and knowing you can say no to something that does not serve you. Peace of mind is a luxury that money cannot buy. Having the choice to rest, to pause, or to focus on your well-being, that is real success. When you reach a stable point, it is also about giving back. It feels fulfilling to help others who are just starting, as long as you are in a position to do so without draining yourself.”

LUSINE AVAKIMYAN

Founder and Creative Director, MUAR Jewels

LUSINE AVAKIMYAN is the Founder and Creative Director of MUAR Jewels, a Dubai-based fine jewelry brand known for its fusion of cultural symbolism and contemporary design. As is often the case with visionary entrepreneurs, the inspiration to launch the brand came from a keen need to see something different in the market–and in Avakimyan’s case, a brand that captured the global experiences she’d had. “Every country I lived in gave me a different language of beauty,” she says. “Armenia taught me symbolism and roots. France — elegance and refinement. Russia — emotional depth and strength. The UAE — modernity, light, and limitless possibility. Over the years, I often couldn’t find jewelry that reflected all these sides of me — so I began creating it myself. I collaborated with artisans, designing pieces that carried fragments of different cultures and emotions. Women around me began to notice, to ask, to connect — and I realized that this dialogue of cultures, of feminine power and grace, deserved its own voice.”

Indeed, by drawing inspiration from her Armenian heritage and international experiences across France, Russia, and the UAE, Avakimyan has created pieces that embody strength, emotion, and modern femininity. “MUAR is a brand that celebrates women of every background, blending the strength of heritage with the radiance of modern femininity,” she explains. “It’s not just jewelry; it’s light captured in form — a symbol of the woman who creates, transforms, and leads with both beauty and intention.Today, I’m proud that MUAR has become a brand recognized for its vision — where every piece is both an investment and an emotion.”

Under her leadership, MUAR has become recognized for its emphasis on craftsmanship, ethical sourcing, and timeless artistry. Each collection reflects her belief that jewelry should be more than adornment — it should be a story of identity, heritage, and light. But not every phase of the entrepreneur’s journey has necessarily been smooth sailing. “Choosing to invest my own capital into creating collections during periods of global gold price volatility was one of the hardest decisions,” Avakimyan recalls. “There were moments when prices changed dramatically overnight — but I knew that pausing creativity because of fear would cost more in the long run. It taught me to think in cycles, not in moments — every market dip eventually rewards those who build with long-term vision.”

Having derived valuable lessons through her own ups and downs so far, Avakimyan thus has a very simple piece of advice for fellow female pioneers and innovators. “Don’t chase perfection, chase consistency! When your purpose is clear and your values are strong, even volatility becomes part of your strength.”

CAREER

“Running a jewelry brand means living between markets, metal prices, and creativity — balance is non-negotiable. I’ve learned to make discipline my ally: I start each day early, review numbers, but then consciously switch to the creative

side — sketching, planning campaigns, or reflecting in silence. Protecting your energy means creating rhythm. You can’t control the gold market, but you can control your inner state — and that’s where true clarity comes from.”

MONEY

“I always keep a reserve, because in jewelry, margins can vanish with a single market fluctuation. I invest in timelessness, not trends — both in products and in people. I believe in diversifying across materials, markets, and audiences, and I never cut costs where quality defines reputation. Real luxury is precision — and these principles have helped MUAR grow from a creative idea into a sustainable business.”

LIFE

“My advice: don’t chase perfection, chase consistency. When your purpose is clear and your values are strong, even volatility becomes part of your strength.”

SUCCESS

“At the beginning, success meant growth, expansion, and numbers. Now it’s about resilience — the ability to stay steady when everything around you changes. In an industry driven by global pricing and taste fluctuations, success is not about avoiding risk — it’s about mastering it.”

TURNING POINT

“The moment I decided to go all in was when I realized that the jewelry industry needed more than beauty — it needed meaning. I wanted to create a brand that connects light, strength, and individuality through fine craftsmanship. The biggest risk was financial. Gold and gemstones fluctuate daily; production costs rise with every global shift. Yet I believed that emotional value and timeless design would always outperform market volatility.”

DR. MUNA ABUSULAYMAN

UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, Special Advisor to the UN IOM, Media Icon, Serial Entrepreneur

“I was working full time at the university, teaching five classes, worked every other weekend on my TV show, and was working part-time with Alwaleed bin Talal’s Kingdom Holding company, and he is one of the toughest taskmasters, while being a single mom with shared custody. All in was an understatement. It was exhilarating, it was exhausting but there are always consequences for decisions you make.”

MUNA ABUSULAYMAN has been a media pioneer, global philanthropist, UN goodwill ambassador, social entrepreneur, tech innovator, and venture capital partner, all while championing women’s empowerment and inclusive development across the Arab world and beyond. When asked if she found each phase of her career enjoyable, she responds with a triumphant and resounding “Hell yes!”

The response shouldn’t come as a surprise. AbuSulayman has, after all, embodied the roles of founding host of Kalam Nawaem, MBC’s influential women-led talk show that broke taboos and tackled social justice issues; Secretary-General of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, where she managed a US$1 billion global philanthropic portfolio driving poverty alleviation, women’s empowerment, and Islam-West dialogue; Saudi Arabia’s first UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, advocating for global health and literacy; and Special Advisor to the UN’s International Organization for Migration.

“Am I proud of what I have accomplished? Yes, I am quite proud of what I have built on the global media and philanthropy is still unmatched,” she says.

Additionally, AbuSulayman, a seasoned entrepreneur, has also co-founded Glowork, the MENA region’s pioneering platform for women’s employment. She went on to establish tech ventures including ADRI, an AI platform for Arabic knowledge; HealthKey Tech, a platform focused on blockchain-based health passports; and Niya, a socially driven corporate social responsibility app. Currently, she serves as a Partner at Transform VC, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm backing deep tech innovations and underrepresented founders across the MENA region.

But in an acute display of inner strength and emotional intelligence, the serial entrepreneur and UNDP Goodwill Ambassador concurrently notes that no one decision comes without some sacrifice. “Today, I realize I could have done things differently,” she says. “The price I paid for my personal life, finding love, having a healthy lifestyle, etc. was not worth what I put myself through. I could have paced myself a bit more. Take more time to enjoy smaller moments of life. It is that epiphany that she hopes to pass on as an honest nugget of wisdom to other women who are balancing career, money and life. “For the majority of us, there is no way you can do all three at the same time without paying both a physical and mental health price,” she shares. “I think it is important to understand that success is different for each stage of life. Things that are very important in the mid-30s like having “me time” because of trying to balance kids, spouse, and work are simply not there in your 50’s. So my advice is to sit down with yourself, and map out each stage of life up to 90, and where you want to see yourself on a personal and professional level, and try to build that life.”

“But more importantly,” she continues “once you try to do things, enjoy the journey, don’t waste too much time being upset at things that did not work out, learn the lesson, assess the situation and move on. The joy is in the journey and not the actual result. Chase things that excite you, that make you think, give yourself time to enjoy the little moments, and stop scrolling Social media for inspiration of what your life should be like. Life is not about instagrammable moments and posts, but about the neuron connections you create as you let those experiences you go through shift you, move you, change you!”

Page 2

CAREER

“At that time, I felt I had to go all in my career because in the late 90’s there were not many interesting and non-traditional work opportunities for women. I did not want to lose out on those interesting challenges that came my way and used such different skill sets and parts of my brain and personality. I lived an intensely exciting and challenging life. The diversity of my educational work, TV show, and strategic philanthropy position, learning and climbing in all three at the same time, was probably my steepest learning curve.”

MONEY

“Shutting down my Fashion business, which was draining my savings which then was going to impact my wiggle room. Having a wiggle room is very important. It is about being able to walk away from a bad situation, or when there are moral conflicts, without having a major impact on daily life. If you don’t have money saved or invested, then you are always a slave to your work place. I have always lived simply, or a lot simpler than many of my media colleagues, because as I was building my networth, I did not want to be reliant on a job for income.”

LIFE

“Everyone’s life is different. So giving advice that is sage and applicable for everyone is impossible. But for women who are like me, who love work, who can’t imagine a day without being professionally productive, who are always chasing a challenge, I will say take your time, seek mentors, look at the full picture of where you want to go. And make sure you don’t lose out on your personal life. But whatever happens, life is a journey, enjoy whatever happens, just try to be smart and compassionate.”

SUCCESS

“Live a more simple life, invest your money, and think about liberating yourself from needing a pay check to survive. This means you have to fight against peer pressure and others expectations. Be strong, you can do it.”

CANDACE BUSHNELL

International best-selling author

CANDACE BUSHNELL arrived to NewYork at 19 with a typewriter and the audacity to believe women’s stories mattered. From her early days as a freelance writer for Mademoiselle, Self, and Esquire, Bushnell developed a voice that was sharp, daring, and unapologetically female. She rose to fame with her New York Observer column Sex and the City, which became a bestselling book and iconic HBO series. Through ten novels, Bushnell has chronicled the lives of women navigating love, ambition, and identity, making her one of the most influential voices in women’s literature. Through her books and television series, Bushnell’s work has influenced and defined two generations of women. Bushnell is the winner of the 2006 Matrix Award for books, and a recipient of the Albert Einstein Spirit of Achievement Award. With wit and candor, Bushnell now takes audiences behind the scenes of her journey. Her talks peel back the layers of the modern world’s biases while offering real-world insight into writing, resilience, and reinvention.

CAREER

“It was about being willing to do without when I was young. It was about being willing to live in crappy places and really about delaying gratification in order to find the time to write and invest in myself to develop those skills. It’s really about investing in yourself, and putting your time and money into your business.”

MONEY

“I’m not sure if other people can apply these principles but I’m very conservative about money. My parents never ever talked to me about money when I was young as it was considered in bad taste. Plus, being in a creative field means you never know when your next check is coming in, so I learned a long time ago to save for a rainy day. I try to have little to no debt, although that seems to be very difficult for young people to do these days.”

LIFE

“The mindset I would recommend is to enjoy it all! Enjoy the process, enjoy the opportunities and the paths your pursuits take you on.”

SUCCESS

“Most people have a pretty good idea of what success is in the larger world—after all, we’re fed a constant barrage of the glamorous lifestyles of the rich and famous. But the feeling of success and satisfaction comes from the inside, not the outside. I think it’s about a job well done. It’s about loving the process. Loving what you’re doing.”

TURNING POINT

“There’s what Oprah calls the “Aha” moment, when you realize you have to dig deep. Fo me, that came when I was about 33. I had written a couple of magazine pieces that didn’t end up working and I’d just endured a breakup with a man I thought I was in love with. I was broke and down on my luck. I would wake up every morning in a cold sweat, I was so afraid of the future. I started knocking on doors and got a meeting with an editor at the New York Observer, took my last three hundred dollars to report the story, came back, wrote it, and it ended up being a full-page story and a big success. Writing for the New York Observer led directly to my column, Sex and the City.”

NAWAL EL MOUTAWAKEL

Olympic gold medallist, and Vice President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC)

NAWAL EL MOUTAWAKEL is the first Arab, African, and Muslim woman to win an Olympic gold medal (400m hurdles, Los Angeles 1984). A former Moroccan Minister of Youth and Sports and long-serving member of the International Olympic Committee, she is a global advocate for women’s empowerment, youth development, and equality of opportunity through sport and leadership.

She recalls her decision to focus on athletics as one where “the risk was tremendous.” “There was the possibility of failure on the world stage, yes, but also facing social criticism,” El Moutawakel says. “But in 1984, when I won the Olympic gold medal in Los Angeles, it was not just a personal victory; it was a victory for all Arab and African women. That moment defined my path and my lifelong commitment to sport: to prove that with discipline, courage, and conviction, cultural and social barriers can be overcome.”

CAREER & MONEY

“To anyone seeking to balance career, money, and life, I would say: be clear about your values, never lose sight of why you are running your race. Success is not just about titles or wealth — it is about staying true to your convictions while contributing positively to the world.”

LIFE

“Balance is the key. For me, it has always been about discipline: managing time wisely, setting clear priorities. I also believe in nurturing both body and mind: regular physical activity, quality time with loved ones, and surrounding oneself with people who support your goals. And never forget to celebrate small wins — they are the fuel that sustains longterm motivation.”

SUCCESS

“At first, success meant crossing the finish line first. Later, it took on a deeper meaning: opening doors for those who would come after me. Today, success is about inspiring others, passing on knowledge, and leaving a lasting legacy. All of this is what the Olympic Movement does day in and day out.”

TURNING POINT

“The turning point was when I decided to dedicate my life to athletics, at a time when nothing in my environment suggested I could succeed: a young Moroccan woman, from a culture where women’s sport was encouraged but not so much, aiming for an Olympic medal.”

ANDREA GONTKOVIČOVÁ

Vice President, Corporate Affairs, SSEA, CIS & MEA

Philip Morris International (PMI)

ANDREA GONTKOVIČOVÁ is the Vice President of Corporate Affairs for South and Southeast Asia (SSEA), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) at Philip Morris International (PMI). In this capacity, she leads external engagement and regulatory affairs across PMI’s largest geographical region.

Prior to her current role, Andrea served as Chairperson of the Board and Managing Director of Philip Morris Czech Republic, overseeing the company’s operations in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.

Andrea began her career with Philip Morris Slovakia in 1997, and over the years has held positions of increasing responsibility across Corporate Affairs, Commercial Development, and Smoke-Free Products, both in Central Europe and at PMI’s Operations Center in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In recognition of her leadership and contributions, Andrea has received multiple prestigious awards from governments in the countries where she has served.

CAREER

“I came to the point when I turned down a role that offered me more seniority, more money, more spotlight, but less purpose. It was very courageous of me to decline this offer and ask for a completely different one. I was taking a huge risk, considering how the process works in a corporation. However, I was convinced that this was the right thing to do and I managed to convince the key stakeholders. It worked out very well and I found myself to be truly energized and even more committed to succeed. We spent a lot of time doing our job, whether we are planning it, thinking about it or executing it. Thus to be in the right position, is very important. The right choice fuels our curiosity, dedication and drive and that results in strong performance and success. That is a win win for us, our team and our employer.”

MONEY

“Money is important but not the most important thing. If we have a great idea for business, an idea that will bring more success and better results, the money will be found and provided. For me, budgeting is more about having visibility on the options available and consequent prioritization. It is not about limitations or restrictions. It is similar in the private life. I also believe in transparency within families. Talking about money openly, about goals, fears, and trade-offs, builds trust and teaches the next generation to see money as a tool and an enabler.”

LIFE

“It is essential to take good care of ourselves. Go back to the roots, unplug, take a rest. If we are “all in”, we are like athletes. We have moments when we need to perform at our best and for those we need to get ready. It is about training and much more. Going back to the roots, regular recovery of our minds, souls and bodies is essential. It is having a chat

with the loved one, sharing a meal with my sons, going for a swim, taking a walk along the beach. All these small acts create mental clarity and energy for what comes next. Also, I am surrounded by people whom I can trust, who read me and remind me to pause when I’m moving too fast or when it is just too much. They are my “health insurance” agents. Protecting our well-being is really about understanding our limits and creating space to sustain our best self, for ourselves and for others.”

SUCCESS

“In my twenties, success was a synonym of achievements: titles, cars and promotions. In my thirties, it turned into the level of influence and impact. Today, it’s about purpose and ability to bring something better to society at large. I would encourage everybody who is thinking about “going all in” to find the best fit for them. Your mission and fulfillment are essential. Your circle of “health insurance” helps too. Create it and protect it. If all this works, you are set for an exciting and fulfilling journey.”

TURNING POINT

“The moment when I was ready to go all in was my first interview into

Philip

Morris International (PMI).

I was attracted by the intellectual challenge, drive to move forward, resilience to deliver under any circumstances and the overall human charge and atmosphere. The biggest risk that I experienced in the ‘full in” was the risk of losing balance. I am a person of multiple dimensions, I am a wife, mother, daughter, friend, sportswomen and nature lover. When one goes all in, it’s easy to allow the ambition to take over and push back all the rest. Very early in my career, I made a decision, that for me, fully committed doesn’t mean fully consumed. It means learning how to work hard and play even harder, ongoing recalibration and regular come back to the roots.”

MARWA KAABOUR

International Bestselling Author and Marketing Expert

MARWA KAABOUR is a CMO-level executive and international bestselling author with over 25 years of experience in building and leading strategic marketing communications across the Middle East. Renowned for her ability to establish marketing functions from the ground up, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the brand and communication strategies of prominent global and regional organizations.

When looking back on her journey so far, Kabbour is quick to note that taking some calculated risks has been fundamental to her long-term success. “I took risks — the kind that come with stepping into rooms where you might be the only woman, or the youngest voice at the table,” she shares. “I moved between worlds: from creative agencies to media, from retail floors to corporate boardrooms. Each shift was a gamble —

INDUSTRY

Marketing and corporate communications

SIGNATURE SKILL

Marketing leadership, strategic storytelling, organizational transformation

but also a growth spurt. If I look back, my career reads like a collage of experiences that all taught me one thing: fortune truly favors the curious. It rewards those who ask questions, who experiment, who don’t wait for perfect timing. Going all-in, for me, meant accepting that the only constant in this industry — and in life — is change. And instead of fearing it, I chose to dance with it.”

Today, Kabbour’s wealth of expertise spans brand development, corporate communications, and marketing transformation—helping businesses navigate complex markets with clarity and purpose. Beyond that, however, she is also a distinguished author and sought-after speaker, Kaabour is celebrated for her thought leadership on marketing excellence, brand storytelling, and organizational growth. ]

When asked to share practical money tips that could help fellow female professionals, Kabbour keeps her response blatantly honest. “I’ll speak for myself — I come from the breed of busy corporate professionals who are constantly juggling demanding jobs and equally demanding families. So let’s be honest: most of us don’t have the luxury of sitting around building personal crypto portfolios or managing ten different side hustles.”

“Don’t take financial tips from YouTube or TikTok– please,” Kabbour urges. “If you’re a professional who has spent years mastering your craft, you should also value the expertise of people who have mastered theirs. Just as you wouldn’t self-diagnose a medical condition, you shouldn’t crowdsource your financial future from your friends, your partner, or internet influencers chasing views.”

Kabbour also notes that it is necessary to take advice from relevant professionals. “Build a long-term plan with someone who understands your goals, your lifestyle, and your risk appetite,” she adds. “Because the only true financial win is the one that’s sustainable — the one that grows

TURNING POINT

“I don’t think there’s just one moment when a woman decides to go all-in on her career — there are several. For me, it’s been a series of crossroads, each demanding a little more courage, a little more faith in myself. In marketing and communications, the landscape is vast — it’s a field that never stands still. You’re constantly met with new ways of doing things, new technologies, new schools of thought. Early on, I realized that if I wanted to thrive here, curiosity had to be my compass. I had to be willing to keep learning, unlearning, and relearning.”

quietly and steadily while you’re busy growing your career and your life. And remember, financial planning isn’t just about what’s in the bank or the stock market. It’s about your mindset. It’s about how you see money — not as something that defines your worth, but as something that enables your choices.”

Having consistently championed innovation, collaboration, and strategic foresight throughout her career, Kabbour has been instrumental in inspiring countless teams and leaders to align communication with vision and impact. To the leaders of tomorrow, she imparts a simple yet profound message. “We’re stepping into an era defined by artificial general intelligence — a time when collective intelligence might outsmart individual wisdom. And yes, that can be unsettling. But it can also be extraordinary. Because what if AI doesn’t replace us, but rather releases us — from the repetitive, from the routine — so that

we can focus on what’s deeply human: empathy, creativity, connection, and purpose? So, success today isn’t about titles or trophies. It’s about relevance. It’s about staying curious enough to evolve, courageous enough to unlearn, and humble enough to keep listening — even to the machines. At the end of the day, going all in isn’t about having it all. It’s about being all of who you are — fully, unapologetically, and with a deep sense of purpose in whatever the future brings.”

CAREER

“Resilience is one of my core values. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or a corporate professional, both paths demand it. Resilience isn’t about being unshakable; it’s about walking through discomfort with faith that better days are ahead. It’s about embracing change as part of your growth, not the end of it. At the heart of it all, authenticity, growth, and resilience are my compass. When you live by your values, even the busiest seasons don’t break you — they shape you.”

MONEY

“For me, money has always been about freedom. Not luxury — freedom. The ability to make choices on your own terms. Over the years, my money mindset has evolved tremendously. When you’re young, you chase quick wins and fast returns — you think success should happen overnight. But the truth is, wealth, like wisdom, takes time. It took me decades to arrive where I am today, and I’ve learned that the real power of money lies in how it supports your peace of mind. I’ve built what I call my peace fund — the essentials that give me stability: a retirement plan, an emergency cushion, and a base that allows me to breathe. Once those foundations are in place, then comes what I call the freedom fund — the part that fuels your dreams, your creative projects, and the parts of you that still want to explore and play.”

LIFE

“I’ve dedicated my life to a corporate career, and I genuinely believe the world still needs people who are fully committed to building within organisations — to shaping cultures, not just companies. But the trick, I’ve learned, isn’t about achieving a work–life balance. It’s about finding a work–life blend that feels authentic to you — one that allows your personal and professional selves to coexist, not compete. As a mother, I’ve found a deep purpose in showing my children that women can dream big, lead boldly, and still show up for their families. My kids often tag along to events or visit the office; they’ve seen the behind-the-scenes of big projects, the late nights, the triumphs, and the stumbles. I want them to know that their mother isn’t perfect — she’s human, passionate, and resilient.”

SUCCESS

“Early in my career, success meant creativity and inspiration. It was about being the one with the fresh ideas and the bold campaigns. But today, leadership has shifted. Success in the 21st century is about adaptability — it’s about how fast we can learn, adopt technology, and lead with emotional intelligence in a world that’s constantly rewriting its own rules.”

MARY GUKASYAN

Managing Director, Kraft Heinz Middle East & Africa

A SEASONED FMCG LEADER with more than 22 years of experience in the ConsumerPackaged Goods (CPG) sector Mary Gukasyan is known for her entrepreneurial mindset and commitment to excellence, as well as a wellbalanced and strategic approach to leadership.

She currently serves as the Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Kraft Heinz. Before that, she led Kraft Heinz Russia—a role she accepted driven by her ambition to create greater impact. “At one point, I was part of a company where I held shares that would have matured in a few years; a significant amount, financially,” she recalls. “But I had a bigger dream: to lead an organization. When I received an offer for a Managing Director position elsewhere, I had to choose between comfort and ambition. Walking away from those shares was one of the hardest financial decisions I’ve ever made. But I knew that leadership and growth were worth more than any short-term gain. Looking back, it was the right decision. That moment reaffirmed my belief that taking calculated risks, when guided by clarity and composure, always pays off in the long run.”

For Gukasyan, her journey so far has in many ways redefined what she considers stability and success. “Success without balance is unsustainable,” she explains. “I’ve learned that financial and emotional security are deeply connected. Keeping a safety net - both financially and mentally - is essential. I always set something aside for unforeseen times and invest in ways that bring stability.”

Today, as Managing Director for the MEA region at Kraft Heinz, Gukasyan has delivered record-breaking net sales growth and led significant structural transformations across the zone. In her tenure so far, she has prioritized key initiatives and established offices in strategic locations, earning Great Place To Work certifications in Egypt and Dubai. Deeply committed to professional equality, she actively supports initiatives that empower women, people with disabilities, and youth, while advancing Kraft Heinz’s ESG agenda across the region.

TURNING POINT

“There comes a moment in every career when you realize that real growth requires stepping outside everything that feels safe or familiar. For me, that moment came when I decided to leave my hometown and move to St. Petersburg, Russia. I was young, inexperienced, and entirely on my own; but that experience shaped me. It taught me resilience, self-reliance, and the value of building something from the ground up.”

“Stepping into the role of Managing Director wasn’t just a promotion; it was a responsibility to lead, to create impact, and to nurture people,” Gukasyan says. “My proudest achievement is not a title or a number, but the journey of establishing Kraft Heinz in Russia - from its legal entity to its culture - and watching it grow into a successful, peopledriven organization. Seeing colleagues thrive and a culture of ownership take root is something I’ll always carry with pride.”

CAREER

“My advice would be having a long-term ambition but always paired it with a short-term vision. Knowing where you want to go, but not losing sight of where you are. And above all, staying pragmatic. Passion drives you, but practicality sustains you.”

MONEY

“Managing money is deeply personal, but discipline and purpose make all the difference. I live by a few simple principles. I set aside at least 10% of my income for “rainy days.” A large portion goes toward education - for my children and for myself. Learning never stops, and I see it as the most valuable investment of all. I also invest in real estate because it brings both security and long-term value. Beyond that, I look for ways to diversify; not to chase returns, but to build resilience. In the end, it’s about accumulating wealth but also about creating peace of mind and freedom of choice.”

LIFE

“I never stop learning. I constantly seek new skills, explore emerging areas, and deepen the ones I already have. Growth doesn’t stop when you reach a senior role; in fact, that’s when it matters most. It keeps you agile, grounded, and adaptable to whatever the future brings.”

SUCCESS

“Early in my career, success meant progress; a new title, a bigger responsibility, a visible achievement. But over time, I realized success is not about pace; it’s about purpose. It’s defined by the quality of the risks you take and the way you navigate them. Today, success for me means building something that lasts, teams, trust, and impact.”

VALENTINA LIPSKAIA

Founder, Dzeny

VALENTINA LIPSKAIA had already landed herself a stable —and as she herself puts it, “solid” — corporate job as a top manager in the oil and gas industry when she was hit with the realization that mental health at workplaces was being significantly brushed under the carpet. “The risk was obvious: Giving up stability and choosing a field where nothing was guaranteed,” she recalls.

Lipskaia, who is a Clinical Psychologist, Gestalt Therapist, and ICF-Certified Coach, thus spent years helping people in their most vulnerable moments. That path eventually led her towards founding Dzeny, a 24/7 mental health support app created together with clinical psychologists. “What started out as a personal mission tremendously grew into something bigger than one-to-one therapy and today Dzeny gives people around the world access to timely support anytime, anywhere.”

With an MBA in Psychological Guidance and Counselling and a professorship in Business Psychology and Coaching, Lipsakaia thus combined her clinical insight with entrepreneurial vision. In designing Dzeny, she says she ensured that the platform would “leave no one alone with their struggles and suffering.”

“In other words, it’s like having support in your pocket day and night,” she says. “Apart from that, it also offers companies a huge upgrade in their social package for the employees, basically a way to look after the well-being of their team, whether that is burnout, sick leave or anxiety, and eventually skyrocket their profit. And again, for me, that feels like a natural extension of what success means today. Looking after your mental health as much as you do your physical health. Don’t chase more but build something that makes life a little steadier and kinder for others.”

When asked to share advice to other women considering a similar leap of faith in their careers, Lipskaia reminds them to be more mindful of their monetary spending styles. “For me it’s very straightforward: save early

and keep a proper cushion,” she shares. “Spend on things that truly matter, like health, learning, and time with family. If it’s a big purchase, I wait a little and see if I still want it. I pay attention to the promises I make as well, because every “yes” takes as much time as money. And yes, I try to be generous where I can, because it keeps everything else in balance.”

CAREER

“What I am most proud of, though, is not a title or an award, but those small, deeply human moments — like when a client tells me they’ve slept peacefully for the first time in years, or when a father or a mother shares they can finally enjoy dinner with their children without fear.”

MONEY

“If I’m being honest, the hardest monetary decision was learning to invest in myself. I used to buy things for everyone else without a thought, even expensive watches for my family, but I would never spend it on myself! Learning to put money into my own health, training and experiences felt almost selfish in the beginning, but it changed the way I live and work. It taught me that the way we treat ourselves financially goes hand in hand with valuing ourselves in every other part of life.”

LIFE

“In life, I think making the best out of it comes down to the little things that you can actually stick to. For me it is switching off the phone for ten/twenty minutes, enjoying my favourite drink kefir or taking a walk with my husband. And I also never allow work to take away my time with my children. And when I feel frustrated, I just name it and let it go rather than turning it against myself or those around me. The advice I would give is basically simple: Give yourself time to rest, keep your body moving, talk to people you trust and listen to yourself before you get lost in all the noise around you. And that is exactly why Dzeny is there — to give you a daily check-in tool, a safe space where they can track your emotions and receive practices that really help prevent burnout before it actually happens.”

SUCCESS

“At first I thought success was about getting more and more, more titles, more recognition. Now I see it quite differently. For me, success is about helping people while also protecting my health,my family, as well as my freedom. And this belief is what has shaped Dzeny too.”

I am not a risky investor. I usually make balanced decisions, always with a plan for the worst-case scenario. Diversification is essential and I never put all my resources into one basket. I also prefer not to take on debt and to rely primarily on myself. For me, money is a tool of freedom and opportunity — not only for myself but also for the people around me.”

And finally, remember that the most valuable resource you have is time. There are only twenty-four hours in a day. Learning how to plan and manage those hours wisely is one of the most essential skills in life and in business.”

CAREER

“I have never seen my career as a sacrifice. It has always been a conscious choice, one I made at every stage of my life. There were compromises, of course, but never sacrifices. One of those compromises came during my student years. Right after finishing school, I began working and studying at the same time. Looking back, I am proud that I never gave up in difficult moments, that I stayed true to my principles, and that I managed to build a professional life without giving up my family. And if I were to name one thing I value most in my career, it would be the strong team I have built around me — people who respect individuality, trust one another, and are not afraid to dream big and take bold steps together.”

“It’s important to remember that smart financial decisions are not about taking big risks. They are about steady, sustainable growth. Make choices with your long-term goals in mind, and don’t hesitate to seek advice from financial professionals. Diversification remains the best way to protect yourself from losses. And of course, investing in education — your own and your children’s — is one of the most valuable and future-oriented investments you can make.”

“By the time I turned forty, I made an important discovery: energy is not endless. You have to learn how to recharge and give yourself breaks. That, too, is part of the work. One of the best ways to protect your energy is to delegate routine tasks. It frees your time and mind for what truly matters — strategy, creativity, and growth. The ability to delegate is a form of personal freedom. It creates space for new opportunities and better decisions.”

SUCCESS

“To be honest, my understanding of success has evolved over time. Early in my career, success meant earning my first significant income. Later it became about recognition, about how much I was valued, what title I held, and how visible my work was. But eventually, I reached those goals and realised that even with all the external signs of success, happiness was not necessarily there. That was when new questions appeared, questions about meaning. What am I creating for myself, for my family, for my team and clients? What the story of my life is really about? Those questions changed everything.”

“There wasn’t one big moment - it just became clear that creating jewelry was what I was meant to do. It felt natural, like everything I had done before was leading me to this. Yes, there were risks. We entered a very competitive world, surrounded by big brands, without any retail experience and without any financial backing. But I wasn’t afraid to take the risk - I was more afraid of not trying.”

IT WAS IN 2011, that Angela Orlov, who studied diplomacy and fine art at Sotheby’s and Christie’s, transitioned from real estate and interior design to the world of high jewelry, when she co-founded Monaco-based luxury jewelry house ORLOV with her husband, gemstone expert Christian Orlov.

At ORLOV, she designs exquisite gemstone creations handcrafted in Valenza, Italy—a style she describes as “native opulence,” reflecting both power and elegance. Orlov defines her approach to jewelry production as being highly personalized— a process where she ensures that each client feels like a curator rather than a customer. “Looking back, my biggest achievement isn’t one collection,” she says.

“It’s building a brand that has a meaning and identity, and seeing women connect with our pieces - that’s what makes me proud every day.”

ORLOV’s striking diamond cuffs and sculptural chokers have been worn by celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Jennifer Lopez, earning the brand a devoted global following. In 2025, Orlov expanded the brand’s presence

to the Middle East with its first flagship boutique at Dubai’s Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, introducing the region to her luminous vision of contemporary high jewelry.

CAREER

“For me, independence is the most valuable capital. Avoid outside investors at the start - let your vision grow on its own strength - stay independent for as long as possible. If your business model is strong, it can finance itself. Independence gives you creative freedom - and that’s priceless. I’ve also learned that to perform your best, you have to take care of yourself first. Balance doesn’t mean slowing down; it means keeping your energy, health, and happiness alive while you keep moving forward.”

MONEY

“The hardest money-related decision was to reinvest everything back into ORLOV’s growth instead of taking the safer path. We chose to stay fully independent - no investors, no banks - so that every creative and strategic decision would remain true to our vision. But that decision changed everything: it allowed ORLOV to grow organically, to maintain its soul, and to stand today among the great jewelry houses while remaining entirely free.”

LIFE

“When you go all in professionally, it takes everything - your energy, emotions, and focus. And when you’re passionate about what you do, it’s easy to forget about yourself. That’s why it’s so important to stay organised, protect your balance, and keep a healthy lifestyle - this is the most important thing to keep your life healthy in the long run. For me, sleep is essential. I try to stay active, spend time outdoors, and do things that clear my mind. And of course, being with my family helps me recharge - it’s where I find calm and strength to start again.”

SUCCESS

“My idea of success has changed a lot over the years. In the beginning, success meant growth - to prove myself, to be seen, to make something real out of a dream. But with time, I realised that true success is simply doing what you love and doing it your own way. For me, success is waking up every day inspired, creating something that carries meaning, and seeing people connect emotionally with what we do. That’s the most beautiful reward. And of course, balance matters too. Real success is when you can build, create, and achieve - but still have time to live, to love, and to enjoy your life.”

MILA SEMESHKINA

TURNING POINT

“The defining moment came when I created my first business. That was when I understood I had to stop being an employee. It was the most difficult decision of my life. For years, I had worked as a hired professional, moving toward a top managerial career, but deep down I knew I had to make a choice: continue climbing the corporate ladder or take the leap and build something of my own.

Going all in meant sacrificing income, stability, and comfort. It meant betting entirely on myself. I knew I could always return to being an employee if things went wrong, but in that moment, I decided I had to take the risk. It was incredibly challenging — I had never worked so hard, felt so much pressure, or carried such a heavy burden. But once I crossed that line, I felt an enormous sense of relief and, eventually, joy. It remains one of the hardest and most important choices I have ever made. It was also the moment I understood that growth demands discomfort — that real steel is forged only under pressure.”

MILA SEMESHKINA is the founder and CEO of Lectera.com, a pioneering global learning platform serving over 7 million users across 60 countries. A serial entrepreneur, bestselling author, and venture investor, she is dedicated to democratizing education and making learning more efficient, practical, and accessible to all.

Driven by her mission to empower women both professionally and personally, Semeshkina founded the Women’s Empowerment Council, which organizes the globally recognized WE Convention. Her leadership and contributions have earned her a place among the Top 100 Women in EdTech by the British HolonIQ agency, Arabian Business’s “100 People You Must Know in Dubai,” and CEO Middle East’s “Top 50 CEOs in the Middle East.”

A dynamic speaker with an international presence, Semeshkina has shared stages and conversations with figures such as Maye Musk and Carla Bruni, and has delivered keynotes at major global events including the Women in Tech Global Summit in Paris. She is also a member of the Forbes Business Council and has built a powerful online community of 8.5 million followers on Instagram, reflecting her influence across both the educational and entrepreneurial landscapes.

CAREER

“Looking back, one of the achievements I am most proud of is founding the Women’s Empowerment Council and the WE Convention. This initiative is not about business or profit; it is about giving back, creating opportunities, and serving the world in a meaningful way. Watching it grow year after year, with more and more people joining the movement, is something that fills me with pride. Every new voice adds strength. Every woman who rises becomes a light for others — a reminder that impact multiplies when it’s shared. For me, it represents impact beyond business, and that is deeply important.

MONEY

“I am a very financially conscious person. There is a phrase I like, “Cut your coat according to your cloth.” I follow it strictly. If I have certain priorities in life, I distribute my budget according to those priorities. For me this is a law. I will never spend my last money on a fancy bag if I have other priorities. I know exactly where my money goes and how I spend it. I invest a lot, and I also have clear rules for investing.

At the same time, financial discipline is one of my life principles. I treat money very pragmatically because money is a tool. For me, it plays an important role as an instrument to realize my dreams, my goals and my plans. That is why for me discipline comes first, and the rule of “earn, save, multiply” is the second very important point. Money, when treated with respect and intelligence, becomes a quiet partner in your purpose — a tool that multiplies not only wealth, but freedom and impact.”

LIFE

“I always say that protecting your well-being while giving your all starts with clarity. You need a roadmap: a clear vision of where you are going, why you are going there, and what steps will take you forward. When you understand the path, the milestones along the way, and the actions required, you can move forward with confidence.

I often say that “life is not a bed, it is a ladder”. A career is the same — you climb it step by step, day after day. That climb requires discipline, dedication, focus, and the ability to hold yourself accountable. And discipline is not punishment — it’s power. It’s what lets you expand your limits without losing balance.

For me, the principles are simple but powerful: clear planning, serious discipline, unwavering focus, nonstop learning and absolute confidence in victory. When clarity meets discipline, you create momentum — and momentum protects you. It keeps you strong, focused, and unshaken no matter how steep the climb becomes. These are what keep you balanced, motivated, and able to sustain the intensity that success requires.”

SUCCESS

“Today, my definition of success is constant movement toward my own ideal. And this ideal is set up extremely high. When I see that my goals are being achieved, that I am growing, that I am stronger and more capable than yesterday — that is when I feel successful. And when I slow down, I remind myself to keep moving, to pick up the pace, to stay in motion.

I also believe success goes beyond career and money. The meaning of life is to leave it as a more advanced version of yourself than when you entered it. To me, the purpose of life is a kind of spiritual upgrade. We evolve not just for ourselves, but to light the path for others. When one person grows, it becomes easier for the next to believe that growth is possible. In the end, success is not about having everything. It’s about becoming everything you are meant to be.”

ANASTASIA TARATINA

Director, PR and Communications, WE Convention Co-Founder and Partner, UM Consulting and InSync Innovate

TURNING POINT

“Back in 2012, I left a successful C-level position at one of the leading PR firms. I decided that I needed a new challenge and it was the start of my own business. I launched a boutique PR agency and consultancy – UM Consulting. That’s when life turned to sleepless nights, ongoing stress and responsibility, and on the other hand total freedom and fun when you have to do everything, starting from finance, HR, consulting, copywriting. When you work in a corporation, the system shields you: the risks are shared, the decisions are collective. But when you build something of your own, the responsibility is on a completely different level — for yourself, your partner, your team, your clients, and your reputation.”

FOR ANASTASIA TARATINA, there has been a simple mindset that has defined her varied career so far– “It’s the moment you step out of your comfort zone and fully accept that everything now depends on you, that you get closer to your dreams,” she says. After all, it was following a decade of leading her own business UM Consulting —a Public Relations (PR), consulting and marketing platform— that she decided to move onto her next venture: InSync Innovate, a tech-driven PR and communications brand.

“It was in 2021 I decided that I was ready for the next challenge and international expansion with InSync Innovate,” Taratina explains. “And that’s probably what I’m most

proud of, that I wasn’t afraid to take that step. My motto is simple: movement is life. You must always move forward. Life, including professional life, is a journey, not a destination. I took the risk and built companies that grow, evolve, and run international projects with clients all over the world. I don’t have fear when it comes to projects: if a client approaches me with something that excites me, I always say, “I’m in, all in.” That’s exactly how it happened with the WE Convention — almost four years ago, when Mila Semeshkina, Founder of WE Council and WE Convention, invited me to join the project as a Communications Director.”

Indeed, today, Taratina is also the Director of PR and Communications at WE Convention, the global platform that unites women leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to drive social and economic impact. With extensive experience in brand strategy, event communications, and media relations, she plays a key role in shaping the convention’s global voice and positioning. Her work focuses on amplifying female leadership narratives and creating meaningful partnerships that promote diversity, innovation, and empowerment across industries.

When asked what has been the toughest decision of her career so far, she says: “It was to leave the security of a corporation and start my own business! During the first few years, you work purely for your reputation, for your clients. I would say, it was rather challenging not to spend net-profit during the first few years and re-invest in business. But that decision completely changed the trajectory of my life.”

Known for her dynamic leadership and international outlook, Taratina continues to champion initiatives that foster collaboration and elevate purpose-driven storytelling on a global scale.

CAREER

“If I could share one mindset shift, it would be this: stay open to opportunities, even when they arrive disguised as challenges. Trust your inner voice. Be brave enough to start again when needed, and humble enough to say “thank you” to the people who walk beside you: your partners, family, and colleagues. Every experience — every rise and fall — is part of your personal evolution. Don’t hide your journey — share it. Your story, with all its imperfections, is what defines you as a true professional.”

MONEY

“I believe it’s essential to understand the basic laws of money — how it moves, grows, and multiplies. In business, strong financial planning is essential, it’s the foundation for success. And one more rule I live by: in the first three years, never take the net profit out of your business. By the way, a very useful book for me about money is The Richest Man in Babylon by George Samuel Clason.”

LIFE

“For me there is only one recipe for well-being is discipline in what you do, how you feel and how you perform. I learned that no matter how talented or inspired you are, consistency and discipline is a key to success and well-being. Discipline, consistency and trust are the real strategy that works in the long run in business, in communications, and reputation building. I train three times a week, walk at least 10,000 steps every day, and read for at least thirty minutes daily. And finally, once I heard a saying that happiness is also a muscle that needs to be trained. I am a totally happy person both professionally and personally, and this foundation gives me the feeling of well-being even if I work long hours, have ongoing deadlines and have multiple tasks at once.”

SUCCESS

“For me, the definition of success today means freedom in decision-making, the ability to choose how I spend my time, who I work with, and what I create and how I prioritize.”

TATIANA VOLODINA

A RESPECTED FIGURE in the global beauty industry, Tatiana Volodina is often celebrated for her sharp strategic vision and talent for reimagining beauty retail on an international scale. Over the years, she has held key leadership roles at Shiseido and Estée Lauder Companies—experiences that honed her expertise in brand building, consumer engagement, and global business strategy. With more than two decades of executive experience, she has played a major role in redefining how consumers interact with beauty brands.

As President of the LETOILE Group, Tatiana today leads one of the world’s most influential beauty retail networks. “One of the projects I am most proud of was something truly unique,” Volodina shares. “From 2013 to 2019, every year we sent all of our consultants with more than one year of experience at LETOILE to Paris. Every summer, these women were given the chance to travel, learn, and experience something unforgettable. By 2019, we had sent 5,000 people to Paris. It was not just a trip, but a combination of training, motivation, and discovery. Our consultants met with partners and brands, explored the city, and built memories that will last a lifetime. For many of them, it was their first time in France, and the experience opened their eyes both professionally and personally. I will always remember this project. It was largescale, emotional, and deeply rewarding. What makes me proud is that our company was able to give thousands of people not only knowledge and professional growth, but also the gift of inspiration and joy.”

Today, the LETOILE Group operates over 1,000 stores across 250 cities in Russia, along with locations in the CIS, Qatar, and the UAE. LETOILE also offers a meticulously curated portfolio of over 500 global brands, including around 100 niche brands, many of them introduced to these markets for the very first time. But ask Volodina what her life’s greatest professional achievement is, and the beauty guru refuses to pinpoint it to one moment. “My greatest achievement is not just one project or company, but the fact that I built a path where opportunities for myself and my family are limitless, and where I can also create opportunities for others,” she declares.

CAREER

“As an entrepreneur, you must be willing to take risks. Without risk, there is no growth, and without growth, a business cannot survive. But I also believe every risk must be calculated. It is about taking responsibility for the next step, moving forward with courage, but always with a clear understanding of the possible outcomes.”

MONEY

“Right after university, I was offered a position with a very high salary. At the time, it was extremely tempting, and saying no felt almost impossible. But when I researched the company, I realised that although the money was good, I would have no room to grow. I wouldn’t be able to develop the business,

drive change, or realise my own potential. Turning it down was one of the hardest financial decisions I have ever made. Yet looking back, I know it was the right one. Sometimes you have to walk away from what looks like an incredible offer in order to stay true to your long-term strategy and vision. That choice set the course for everything I have achieved since.”

LIFE

“The key is priorities– you must set them clearly, in line with your values. Equally important is discipline — especially time management. Only with clear structure and respect for your own schedule can you protect balance. These are not just words. They are habits you must actively practice every day if you want to succeed without losing yourself in the process of going ‘all-in.’”

SUCCESS

“For me, true success is living in harmony with yourself. It cannot be measured only in money or material achievements. The most important thing in my life is my family and their happiness. Over time, I have learned that success is not just about what you build professionally, but about creating a life where your loved ones thrive alongside you.”

TURNING POINT

“Very early on, I felt a deep sense of responsibility to give back — to make sure that my parents, my children, and my family would always have
freedom to

the

live well, to travel, to learn, and to take care of their health. Because of that, there was never really a single turning point when I “decided” to go all in. The thought was always with me. Even in my university years, I already knew that I wanted an ambitious career and that I would build everything through my own effort. For me, the risks of sacrifice — long hours, uncertainty, constant challenges — were simply part of the journey.”

DR. MAKY ZANGANEH

TURNING POINT

“I’ve always been “all in,” whether in my personal or professional life. When I left Iran as a young girl during the Revolution and the Iran–Iraq War, I learned that survival meant adapting quickly and taking bold chances. Since then, I have lived across three continents and four countries, constantly adapting to new languages, cultures, and environments. Each time, I had to rebuild from the ground up — but every leap brought me closer to the work I was meant to do.”

A VISIONARY BIOTECH LEADER, entrepreneur, cancer survivor, United Nations speaker, and author, Dr. Maky Zanganeh has built a career defined by courage, innovation, and impact by transforming the landscape of oncology and global healthcare.

“I have always wanted to make a greater impact — to be part of something that could truly transform lives,” she says. “That realization pushed me to take one of the biggest risks of my life: leaving behind a career in dentistry to start from zero in a new field, on a new continent, in the United States, with no guarantees. Looking back, I am most proud of bridging science and patients — helping to bring life-saving therapies to people with cancer and advancing surgical innovation from robotics to today’s era of telerobotics. I’ve had the privilege of leading teams that developed and launched patient friendly cancer treatments that changed standards of care, and of guiding emerging companies like Pharmacyclics and Summit Therapeutics through transformative milestones. But above all, I’m proud that I never allowed fear or convention to define my path.”

Currently the Co-CEO and President of Summit Therapeutics, Dr. Zanganeh is known for her bold leadership in advancing patient-friendly cancer therapies. She played a pivotal role in the historic US$21 billion acquisition of Pharmacyclics by AbbVie and was instrumental in the success of IMBRUVICA®, a breakthrough blood cancer drug. Earlier in her career, she helped lead the world’s first transatlantic robotic surgery— Operation Lindbergh—at Computer Motion, proving that innovation knows no borders.

The foundation of sustainable success, Dr. Zanganeh notes, is in remembering that you can always give your best when you take care of yourself first. “The higher you climb in your career, the more people look to you for strength and you can only offer that strength if you prioritize your own well-being,” she advises. “I’m very disciplined about my daily structure: I exercise, spend time with my family, and carve out space for reading and reflection. Protecting your well-being comes from balance and boundaries — knowing when to push forward and when

to pause and recover. True strength isn’t about never resting; it’s about knowing how to recharge so you can continue to give your best.”

CAREER

“Walking away from dentistry, a career that was stable, predictable, and financially secure, was an important decision of my life. I had a clear professional path and the full expectation of my family to stay in it. But I wanted to make a bigger impact. When I decided to move into biotech, I took a leap of faith and invested in a small biotech company called Pharmacyclics Inc., even before joining as an executive. Science was promising, and developing oncology therapies to help patients in need became my mission.”

MONEY

“I follow a simple rule: invest only in what you truly understand. For me, that has meant backing innovation in biotech and healthcare, innovation that serves humanity, sectors where I can contribute not just capital, but strategic insight and operational experience. I also invest in people with integrity, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose. Trust and alignment matter far more than numbers on a spreadsheet.”

LIFE

“Over time, I’ve realized that not everything is about titles or wealth. It’s about impact. Did I help patients live longer? Did I create opportunities for others? The mindset shift I recommend is this: don’t chase “having it all.” Instead, define what matters most to you, and align your choices around that. Career, money, and life can be balanced, but only if you are honest about your priorities.”

SUCCESS

“Success is never a solo journey; it’s about creating an environment where everyone thrives together. One of the most powerful strategies is surrounding yourself with a team that has a winning mentality, people who are disciplined, hardworking, knowledgeable, and driven by a genuine desire to grow and willing to take chances. Going “all in” doesn’t mean doing everything by yourself; it means giving your full heart and focus to a shared mission. It’s about taking massive action with clarity, purpose, and precision.”

How are global trends born, fresh talent discovered, and careers built at the very top of the fashion world? In this exclusive conversation, Dame Anna Wintour CH DBE — the Global Editorial Director of Vogue, Chief Content Officer of Condé Nast, and the most powerful woman in fashion — opens up about her principles of leadership, her instinct for spotting new voices, and the making of cultural phenomena like the Met Gala and Vogue World. From her early steps in journalism to becoming a global fashion authority, Anna reflects on the challenges that shaped her, the talents she has championed, and the balance between creativity and business that defines her leadership. She will share candid insights on what distinguishes true visionaries, the lessons she has learned from legendary designers, and her perspective on women in leadership today. This is not just a talk — it is a rare opportunity to hear the story of a woman whose decisions have defined the style of an era. Learn her secrets and apply them to lead, inspire, and stay ahead of the times.

In a world where women’s leadership is most often discussed by women, the WE Convention stage will, for the first time, feature a male voice. Alex Zagrebelny, Founder of R·Evolution Group, steps beyond the usual narrative. He will share how women have supported him throughout his life — and how that support has shaped his journey. From his mother’s influence and his partnership with his wife to conversations with his daughter and collaboration with a team where most members are women, Alex will reflect on how the women around him help him see the world differently, inspire new ideas, and deepen his understanding of human values. He will discuss why women hold key positions in his company — and how their intuition, structure, and attention to detail contribute to building sustainable, human-centered projects. This Fireside Chat is a personal story about how women became a source of strength, inspiration, and meaning — a story of how, thanks to them, not only a successful business is born, but an entire world — and ultimately, Alex himself.

It doesn’t matter where you come from, what family you were born into, or what position you started with — everything is possible. For the first time on our stage, we bring you the inspiring journeys of four women from different backgrounds — Tina Ghafurian, Yasmina Azar, Racquel Agravante, and Leila Sanii of Omorfia Group — who carved their own paths from scratch, conquered the beauty industry, and built thriving careers. These women here today represent Omorfia Group, the flagship beauty and wellness vertical of Multiply Group — an Abu Dhabi–based investment powerhouse and proud part of the wider IHC ecosystem, one of the world’s largest and most forwardthinking investment companies. And this panel is about the courage to find your true calling, the power of ambition, and the relentless persistence that drives success. It is also about the role companies and leaders can play in becoming launchpads for the next generation of professionals — unlocking potential, turning ambition into real achievement, and building teams where every individual feels successful, motivated, and inspired.

What does it truly cost to succeed — and to keep succeeding? Behind the glossy cover of achievement are sleepless nights, risky decisions, and moments when you want to walk away. UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, media icon, and serial entrepreneur Muna AbuSulayman and Her Excellency Lujaina Mohsin Haider Darwish, one of the Arab world’s most powerful business leaders, invite you to step behind the curtain of great success and discover its true price. This is an honest conversation about what it means to choose every day between career and personal life, to find strength when everything seems against you, and to understand why sometimes you must lose something to gain something greater. You’ll learn how to build a career without becoming a slave to work, how to create a financial safety net for true freedom of choice, and why real joy lies in the journey — not just at the summit. This session is for anyone ready to see the real face of success before climbing their own peak.
