Thanksgiving Meal Giveaway Planned Catholic Harvest Food Pantry and LifePath Christian Ministries will again partner for York Giving, an effort to provide turkeys and all the fixings for families in need to prepare a Thanksgiving meal. The meal box giveaway project will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23, and Sunday, Nov. 24. An estimated 1,900 boxes will be distributed through pickups and deliveries. Caseworkers from local agencies refer clients to receive the meal boxes. Beyond the two organizations, many groups and individuals are contributing to the effort by donating cash to cover expenses and by holding food drives for the nonperishable items that will be used in the meal boxes. Christmas Magic To Return To Rocky Ridge Park Nearly 600,000 Christmas lights will illuminate Rocky Ridge County Park, 3699 Deininger Road, York, during the 36th annual Christmas Magic - A Festival of Lights from Friday, Nov. 29, through Tuesday, Dec. 31. Christmas Magic is a half-mile walking trail that meanders along a wooded hilltop through nearly 600,000 Christmas lights, holiday scenes, and five enclosed, heated pavilions. The trail is accessible. The spirit of the holiday is displayed by using animation, displays, visits from Santa Claus, food, a G-gauge train display, and an O-gauge train display. Christmas Magic will be open on Mondays through Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Fridays through Sundays from 5 to 9 p.m. Christmas Magic will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24, and Wednesday, Dec. 25. Student Chosen YMCA Will Host 23rd Annual Turkey Trot 5K For Chorus Festival Hope Allen will represent the West York Area High School at the 2020 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 7 Chorus Festival, hosted by Central Dauphin High School, on Thursday to Saturday, Jan. 16 to 18, 2020. Hope, a junior, auditioned at Central York High School on Oct. 26 for a spot in this year’s District 7 Chorus. High school choir students from Adams, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, York, Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry counties will participate at the January festival. Hope is the daughter of Sharon and Mark Allen.

Participants in a past year’s YMCA Turkey Trot start the race. The YMCA of York and York County will host the 23rd annual Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, in downtown York. The YMCA of York and York County is set to host the 23rd annual Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, at 9 a.m. in downtown York. Led by the biking turkey, this race is a family-friendly activity that many have made a Thanksgiving Day tradition. The flat, fast-paced 5K course is on city streets. The race will begin at the intersection of Market and Newberry streets and end on King Street adjacent to the Logos Academy, 255 W. King St. Parking is available at the YMCA lot, on the street, and at the Comcast Building parking lot and garage located on
Philadelphia Street. Awards will be presented to the overall male and female participants. Additionally, age group prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in various age groups. Awards will be located inside the YMCA building at the conclusion of the race. There will be no awards ceremony. Pre-race entry packet pickup will be available at the Graham Aquatic Center, 543 N. Newberry St., York, on Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is available off Parkway Boulevard, adjacent to
Grace Brethren Church. Those picking up packets should walk across the foot bridge and continue to the front entrance. Race-day registration will be available from 7 to 8:30 a.m. only.
