ENRICHMENT
As well as delivering a first-class academic education, at Doha College we also believe in developing our 6th Form beyond the curriculum. As well as our extensive CCA programme, we also provide enhanced enrichment opportunities to fully prepare our students for life after school.
We enrich our 6th Form students’ learning and reasoning beyond the curriculum with an extensive CCA programme. This covers academic sporting and service elements, including the medical review school conference and Doha College Model United Nations (DCMUN).
EPQ Project
Students can participate in an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at the end of Year 12. This is a project selected by a student on a topic beyond the curriculum and is worth Uniform Mark Scheme (UMS) marks equivalent to half an A Level. It is completed in the first term of Year 13 to support and complement an application to university.
Mentoring
Through the mentoring scheme, 6th Formers have the opportunity to mentor students in our Primary and are paired to a class to assist the teacher on a weekly basis. They can also mentor lower school students in numerous subjects.
6th Form students at Doha College take a very active, vocal and influential role in school life, and managing committees is one facet. This allows for the development of positive attributes including shared responsibiltily, collaborative learning, peer support and leadership to name a few. Our committees range from the following:
• Charities Committee
• Communications Committee
• Environmental Committee
• Ivybridge Committee
• Social Committee
• Graduation Committee
• Digital Leaders Committee
• Well-being Committee
Through a comprehensive PSHE programme, targeted workshops and one-to-one sessions, we support our students throughout the university application process. The support ranges from researching university and careers options to creating shortlists and writing personal statements, essays and CVs. The journey is assisted by our experienced 6th Form team, who provide advice and guidance, prepare references and transcripts and more.
Part of Doha College’s mission is to develop our students to make a lasting contribution to the global community.
Student Leadership is critical in the establishment of key qualities expected of all our students. The posts of head girl and head boy, their deputies and senior prefects are extremely important. They are not only significant in terms of their responsibility, but these positions also carry an enormous amount of prestige. They are leaders, figureheads and role models for the rest of the school population and uphold the highest possible expectations for the College. Students can also become ambassadors and prefects of the House System.
Year on year, Doha College examination results are a testament to the outstanding level of teaching and holistic learning approach that allows each and every child that is part of our community, take the path to their chosen future.
The challenges brought by the pandemic did not impact attainment. Staff seamlessly adapted the way they taught, gearing it towards online delivery in a way that engaged students and maintained high motivation levels. The results were in fact higher grades, placing Doha College firmly amongst the elite international schools.
Students typically take 10 (I)GCSEs, 4 (I)GCE AS Levels and 3 (I)GCE A Levels.
In 2024, Doha College achieved remarkable exam results:
• (I)GCSE: 95% 9 to 4(A*- C) grades
• A-Level: 94% A*- C grades
Doha College has a dedicated Careers and University Guidance team with an impressive 98% success rate in placing students at renowned global universities and colleges. Our students pursue a diverse range of academic interests throughout their higher education journey, and our careers team plays a pivotal role in helping them navigate the university application process.
