CONCORDIAN INFECTIOUS DISEASES POLICY

At Concordian, it is the parent’s responsibility to inform the school via nurse@concordian.ac.th as soon as they become aware that their child has a fever, flu-like symptoms, blisters, and/or other concerning symptoms.

General Rule

All students who are unwell must not attend school under any circumstances and should seek medical care when necessary. The school is responsible for thorough classroom cleaning and appropriate disinfection to minimize the risk of infection spread.

COVID-19 / Influenza (Flu A & B)

Students with COVID-19 or Influenza (Flu A & B) must stay home for a minimum of 3 days from symptom onset (including weekends) or until symptoms subside (please follow your doctor’s advice). Upon returning to school, they must be evaluated by the school nurse to determine their readiness to rejoin the school environment.

The school nurse has full discretion to determine whether a student may return to class based on their health assessment.

Students must wear an N94, K94, or N95 mask for 2 additional days and eat separately from others. Siblings living in the same household without symptoms and isolated since symptom onset can attend school but should self-monitor for 5 days.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)

The duration of staying home with RSV can vary depending on the severity of symptoms and the advice of a medical professional.

In general, students must stay home for a minimum of 5 days from symptom onset (including weekends), or until their symptoms have significantly improved and they are no longer contagious.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth / Herpangina / Other Contagious Diseases

Students diagnosed with Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, Herpangina, or other contagious diseases must stay home for a complete 7-day period from symptom onset (including weekends).

Siblings must also stay home unless they provide a medical certificate confirming they are not affected. Additionally, they must avoid direct contact with their sick sibling.

Norovirus

If a student is diagnosed with norovirus, they must refrain from attending school until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours, including the cessation of vomiting and diarrhea.

Kawasaki Disease and Non-Contagious Diseases

Students diagnosed with Kawasaki disease or other non-contagious illnesses must inform the school and follow their doctor’s recommendations to determine their safe attendance.

Other diseases

Fever without other symptoms: Students with a fever must stay home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications. Diarrhea without other symptoms: Students with severe or persistent diarrhea must stay home until their symptoms have resolved and seek the appropriate medical advice. If diarrhea is accompanied by fever or other concerning symptoms, they must stay home until they are well.

Class Closure Due to Disease

If the number of students infected by any infectious disease exceeds 20% (Early Years) to 25% (Primary Years and older) of the total classroom students within the specified number of days that sick students must stay home, the school will evaluate the need for class cancellation and will inform parents accordingly. Please note that if a weekend or holiday coincides with a potential class closure, it will be counted as part of the evaluation period.
